Yadda yadda yadda. Questions, requests, thoughts, OOC crap - goes here.
I prefer to keep my OOC seperate from my IC; however, since ease-of-gameplay is important as well, some rules for the gameplay thread:
IF you have something you want answered in the gameplay thread, then ask it there, but put it inside Spoiler tags. Rolls, too, should go inside spoiler tags; in fact, anything and everything that is not actual prose (i.e. game writing) that you want to put into the gameplay thread should be inside a spoiler tag. Tactical maneuvers, directions, requests, etc.
Spoiler tags can and will be used for specific, seperated activities; what happens in the girls' room vs. what happens in the boys room, for example. If you are doing something that the entire group cannot see, or if you are addressed into a spoiler tag, then keep it up until you 'rejoin the group'. It helps, notably, to keep the same tag set going: 'Girl's Dorm' on every tag, for example.
If you START such a spoiler-event, you should include the names of the people who should be participating, like so:
Later spoilers would only need the event/situation name ('New Event' in the example above). Otherwise, if it's in-character writing - actions, reactions, thoughts, conversation, telepathy, radio, whatever - you can post it 'in the clear', as it were.
Any questions?

GM TWO |

Me and the three from HeroCentral; I've sent them a prompt on how the site and campaign is set up, so we should hear from them today.
As a note - confidence-course walls are typically 6-8' tall; the really big ones are the cargo nets, which might go up to 15-20'. Remember the rule of thumb that 10' = 1 story; they are NOT going to be having 13yo kids climbing a 5-story wall. ;)
I do find it ... interesting ... that almost everyone has had their Threading linked with a 'beserk' Threading. Not that it isn't ... appropriate, in its way, for reasons that will later become apparent ... ;)

Sundakan |

I looked up a video of a Marine confidence course, and the wall was prett darn tall. 47 feet was an exact figure I could find for one. Though that might have been a rappeling tower, the article flip flopped on terms.
I figured we weren't going to be treated as any different from normal recruits, despite the age.
And I figured an epic fail would be more appropriate than simply sailing over anyway. =)

The Wyrm Ouroboros |

Too true.
Sorry for the delay on my part - discovered at 1:30 AM this morning (the 18th) that I worked at 10:00 AM this morning, instead of having the day off like I usually do (and therefore expected). Will be posting later tonight.
You can imagine a spring to get to the second floor of #20 here - that'd run you at least 25-30' tall, so ... 'hung for a sheep as for a lamb', as it were. ;)

Bill Younger Jr. |

I had an error pointed out to me: Bill would not be anywhere near six feet. I was concentrating on the characters being thirteen (I knew several six foot thirteen year olds growing up) and not pre-pubescence, which is the requirement for Threading described in the campaign material.
Bill is about 5'4.

Arcturas Advent |
I've been using the Anthropometric Reference Data for Children and Adults: United States 2007-2010 from the CDC to figure out Dakota's height and weight (which I haven't actually mentioned anywhere.) They only measured about two hundred people at each age to figure out their numbers, but it shouldn't be too far off from the national averages at that time. Anyways, it says that 5'4" is the average height for a thirteen year old boy, and that most of those they measured were between 4'10" and 5'11". So use that info as you will.

Then call Bill 5'7, 120lbs. He comes from tall people, and he's gearing up for a growth spurt once puberty hits.

Jodie Price |

Might be good to get a description of everyone into the Campaign Info tab for reference?
- Jodie is a bit of a tom-boy. She wears glasses, is 5ft. tall, has green eyes and has red hair which she habitually wears in messy pigtails. At 13 she's starting to develop physically, but has a small, slim build. Jodie has trouble keeping things as neat as she should and she always seems a bit unkempt.

Bill Younger Jr. |

-Bill is tall (5'7) for a 13 year old (though not bizarrely so), and his frame hints at the size he will grow into. His Irish heritage shows in his dark hair, fair skin, and the splash of freckles across his nose and cheeks. His blue eyes are thoughtful, and dart around nervously when he thinks he has said or done something foolish.

Dakota Lannings |

Dakota could generously be described as a late bloomer, clocking in at a measly 4'10" and 88 pounds. Her hair, what little was left after boot, is black and her eyes are a dull grey that always seem just a bit tired, giving the misleading impression that she isn't paying as much attention to her surroundings as she could be. She has no particularly strong racially defining characteristics, instead there are plenty of small hints pointing to several contradictory ancestries. In other words she is a true American, someone whose ancestors had lived in the country long enough they couldn't be called by any other race.

Mei Cartwright |

Mei is of mixed Japanese and Caucasian ancestry. She has her American father's blonde hair and her Japanese mother's brown eyes and porcelain complexion. She's one of those girls who appears to be physically maturing before her time if you get my drift; another trait she inherited from her corn-fed father.

Corwin Talmadge |

Corwin is 5' 5” tall male Caucasian with dark chocolate eyes, dirty blond hair in a crew cut, a small nose, and rounded cheeks with full lips. To say that his resting expression wast intense would be an understatement. When not directed otherwise, his eyes seemed to be looking everywhere, constantly taking in his environment. From the precision of his crew cut, down to the crisp cleanliness of his uniform, and the high gloss on his boots, everything about him marked him clearly as a person born and bred to the military life. Even while simply standing, he looks like a solder ordered to stand at ease.

The Wyrm Ouroboros |

Yaaay, finally got this done.
The PDF International Google Drive folder has a new file containing completed character sheets in both PDF (without background) and HTML (with background) versions, as well as the HeroDesigner files themselves. Those of you who had siblings in the PDF (Dakota and Jodie) should definitely take a look at the HTML files; some ... background updates for you two in those. ;)
And with that finally done, I shall move y'all ahead tomorrow evening. Everyone on board the freight train!! ;)

As a reminder:

This includes any OOC/table stuff like dice rolls. ;)

GM TWO |

Yeah, sorry. Anyhow. To answer the question about stats - you are all working off the Threaded stats and sheets; feel free to copy sheet info onto your profile, or put links to the sheets there.
And yeah, it may seem a little weird for an 'agile as a professional martial artist or gymnast' kid to have a problem with a footlocker, do remember two points. First, you've been 'that agile' (and for that matter, 'that strong' - effectively 5 points higher on STR for lift/carry/move/roll) for three weeks at the most, and you're all still getting used to that agility, which means overcorrection is, and will be for the next few weeks, fairly common. Second, in addition to a weapon halfway between an SMG and an assault rifle in size, you're each needing to manage something that any of you (any two of you, actually, and possibly three of you) could fit inside with room to spare; plus, the contents 'may have' (i.e. DID) shift during transport, so you are still building up the experience (and sheer strength) to be able to handle how the balance on the thing moves around.
By the way, yes: you each have a weapon, the Sabordo 10mm carbine as seen on your sheet. You will, always, have a magazine loaded with live semi-armor-piercing rounds, although it should never-unless-ordered have a round chambered. You have, always, two extra magazines of ammunition for your weapon.
These are standing orders for the PDF Military: Be Armed And Ready.
In the classroom or in quarters (which, if you went through Candidate boot camp early, you got to experience for any number of weeks) you place your weapon in the rack next to the door; you always recover your weapon and ammunition before leaving the room. At this time, you do not have sufficient rank or combat experience to be able to possess a specific weapon, nor are you in a live combat zone, where you always use your weapon unless there's a problem. You pick up the next weapon in line and move out, like any good Marine. ;)
If I forget to mention the fact that every person in a PDF uniform you see is carrying a bullpup-style carbine, think of it as being because for you, after a minimum of 17 weeks in the service, it has become a matter of course. It will become peculiar or unusual in the absence, not in the presence.

Wondering if there is way for players to be notified when there are new game play posts without being logged in?
Also, I've noticed that we aren't getting posts from all of the characters. Just wondering if Lectryk is still with us?
BTW, I am enjoying myself and I look forward to further interactions between our characters.
Finally, I know that the characters are in a very serious situation even though there is that yowling werecat for comic relief.
I know this might sound a bit shallow but most teen boys at 13+ were at the very least beginning to feel certain urges. .
My questions are: Is this an area that is beyond the scope of the campaign and are therefore hand waved off into the same place other basic biological needs are?(bathroom trips, etc)
Or are the male characters' reproductive urges somehow being repressed?

Bruce Walker |

Bruce is 5'3" reasonably tall, but not a giant. He has a fit build, muscled all over in just the right proportion to allow him to move exceptionally fast. As an aussie he has a mix of his English mother and Mediterranean fathers looks (thiick but neutral features, no sharp lines , more rounded). He has slightly olive skin, with a few freckles. He has short brown hair tending to dark brown throughout, he has hazel or green eyes, depending on the time of day. He seems to look everywhere, kinda freakishly fast, as if he's trying to take in everything and he hasn't adjusted to his new speed yet, so his attention seems to be flicking all over the place.

Not to my knowledge, but I'm a relatively new person on the boards too. I'd check in either 'my account' or 'my subscriptions' up top; there might be a way to get emailed posting announcements.
Also, I've noticed that we aren't getting posts from all of the characters. Just wondering if Lectryk is still with us?
At the time of this writing, Lectryk's last post was a month ago; he'll be 'on autopilot' until either a) he shows back up, b) someone pops up and wants to play as well, or c) I need to kill someone off. That is, in actuality, by order of preference. :P
Finally, I know that the characters are in a very serious situation even though there is that yowling werecat for comic relief.
Oi!! No makin' fun of Blizzard!!

None of the urges (male or female, as Electric Monk pointed out) are being suppressed/repressed. While those specific urges are an area that is generally going to be hand-waved into off-camera-ness, they are in point of fact going to be specifically addressed in an upcoming scene, and the consequences of violating the school's regulations about such are a key point in the plot for this quarter.

I'm still over here trying to figure out how you HAVE a job if you "have no orders". But apparently that's against the rules. I should do this jjob which is undefined as a job but if I dn't know what the job is I should do the job I don't know how to jobjobjobjobjob
...
=(
Your soldier ran into a problem it couldn't handle and needs to restart.
You can search for the error online: JOB_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

Bruce Walker |

Doesn't mean he has to like it, it's an anachronism and wasn't proven to be any good back then either, produces soldiers that do what they are told not what they need to do.
For characters with special powers that vary on a large scale independent thought and tactical decision making are far more valuable.
Int 15 as well, he thinks, he what he thinks may even be wrong, doesn't mean that'll stop him.

Barrier |

If you like, y'all can have this conversation 'in barracks' in a bit. ;)
Not to be a wet blanket but Corwin, creature of military bearing that he is, wouldn't even question following orders. Even more so after the reply to his question from the senior officers aboard the train.
He knows that there are always standing orders just like the ones they were recently given by the Cadet Sargent and the general standing orders of the PDF.
These are standing orders for the PDF Military: Be Armed And Ready.
To Corwin, there are always orders.
Of course, if another cadet feels like they need to ask questions...

Bruce Walker |

Heya GM..
Just thinking/suggestion/giving possible options
Your posts are exceptionally long and of great quality.
They must take tremendous time though, i've noticed your posting is slightly slow though.
Would it make a difference if you made a few smaller posts by say breaking 1 into 2 or 3 and allowing the players to RP to each post?

The Wyrm Ouroboros |

I would, Bruce, but when it's 'the train arrives, you get your stuff together, go up a lot of stairs, stand in place while they shuffle people, the lady officer makes a speech, and they finally get you into quarters', well - while I COULD break it up, give you guys chances to say 'I pant' and such, would you rather take one week to get it all done, or two-plus? 'Setting' posts are always long and take a bit to put together. While there ARE more setting posts to come (two primary ones), for the most part it'll be 'you head off to class' and we can roll from there.
TL;DR: yes, the GM posts will pick up. ;)
