Garox Fang |
"Pfft, It was easy to take out after I damaged most of it. Still it gave us a nice reward." Garoxs grins.
"Shall we try the other door to the south as well?"
Trevyn Deepmarsh |
"Drat, I dinnae even get to use this spell on the thing! Oh well, let's go find something I CAN use it on!"
Trevyn will hold the charge, not casting any more spells until he can successfully deliver it to an enemy. He will, however, help search the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Azura ~bluedove |
Azura ends her song and clucks her tongue, shaking her head over the ruined statue. "Oh dear, so much for that relic. But why would it move to guard the door like that?"
She aided Trevyn as he searched the next room, making sure to stay well away from his hands. Aid Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Azura has the Adopted:Halfling trait, Helpful. Her aid actions grant a +4 instead of +2.
GM, which door says "Scriptorium- Quiet Please"?
-Rafiki- |
Rafiki makes a face and puts away his sling and bullet. He walks over to Camlin and casts detect magic on the opal.
GM Tyranius |
Azura and Trevyn do not find much useful around the room besides the gem from the destroyed statue and the small gold-plated statue of a many-armed Vudran goddess.
Rafiki does not detect any magic from the opal
The door marked Scriptorium is the southern door
You see the double set of doors that you came through in the south and a door leading west.
GM Tyranius |
Rafiki does not sense any magic emanating from the small statue.
Garox Fang |
Garox takes the lead in going into the southern room. Stealthing the moment he enters.
stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Trevyn Deepmarsh |
Didn't we start in the Southern room? I think you mean Western. :-P
Garox Fang |
We went into the northern room, can go to the west or south if we like.
Trevyn Deepmarsh |
OOOH you mean South from the room that we STARTED in! Ok now I understand, sorry about that! :-D
Trevyn will follow Garox, but ask him to hold up for a moment. "If you give me a minute to perform a ritual, my friend can scout for us. She doesn't even need to open doors."
He will then sit down for a moment and perform the ritual to summon his phantom, who he calls Arthes, in incorporeal form.
Just as a reminder, non-magical attacks won't hurt Arthes at all, and magical attacks only have 50% effect. She'll also have a 50% chance to ignore any non-damage effects from spells, unless they specifically work on incorporeal creatures. She's also not an undead creature, so positive energy heals her.
Assuming that the party is willing to take a minute to allow all this, Arthes will then move through the doors into the room to the south.
GM Tyranius |
The door opens with a grinding creak, revealing a large room filled with monsters of all shapes and sizes. Giant skeletons and stuffed taxidernic monstrosities are frozen in poses of snarling ferocity, while mummified corpses lie in sedate repose in ornately carved sarcophagi. As silent as a tomb the air in the hall is stale and musty.
Two large wooden signs lean against one wall, inscribed with captions. "Hunting the Beasts of Legend" and "The Honored Dead". A door on the northern wall holds a sign labeled "Storeroom 3"
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Garox sneaks into the room as Arthes' incorpreal form passes right through the door. They both see that a Taxidermied owlbear seems to be pacing the room as it is chewing on another of the taxidermied creatures.
Trevyn: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Camlin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

I'm not sure that initiative sequence is correct as the owlbear loses to everyone except trevyn?

Trevyn Deepmarsh |
Arthes will fall back, as she can't actually DO anything at this level except scout when incorporeal. Really can't wait to get this guy to 2nd level so that she can deliver touch spells for him!
@GM: If you added the Perception check after hitting Preview, it would have pushed the first initiative roll back to fill that space. It essentially keeps the order of rolls the same (so if you do a d20 for Stealth and roll a 15, and then put a Perception roll above that, the 15 will transfer to the Perception check.) That's probably what happened. :)
Garox Fang |
Garox charges the owlbear and smashes his earthbreaker into him.
charge attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27

Impressive damage!!!
GM Tyranius |
Yes that is probably what happened.
Garox charges the Owlbear and cleaves it in two before the creature even knew what was going on.
Combat Over
Trevyn Deepmarsh |
Trevyn whistles loudly, and begins clapping his hands. "Well done, lad! I havena seen such a swing in years, since I was in the forges of my homeland! I still have this spell here... I suppose I'll save it for the next creatures we encounter, then!"
LOL, Trevyn is STILL holding the inflict light wounds spell, unused.
Garox Fang |
"Haha, such a swing. It's hard to make. The trick is..it's all in the hips." Garox says as he makes lewd thrusting movements.
After his moment of fame he checks the room.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
But his head is too much in the air from his perfect swing to find much.

Trevyn will also check around the room, as will Arthes.
Perception Trevyn: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Arthes: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
-Rafiki- |
With wide eyes, Rafiki says "Remind me never to piss you off, Garox." He then looks the room over. Perception take 20: 20 + 4 = 24 with a casting of detect magic thrown in for good measure.
Garox Fang |
"Haha, we could have a go at each other. Mind you though, I might have a unfair advantage at doing nonlethal damage" He says with a wink while going over the next door.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
GM Tyranius |
The group does not uncover anything of significance from within the room. Rafiki does not sense anything magical.
Trevyn Deepmarsh |
"Well then, let's move on. This time, let Arthes go first, and report back to me."
In incorporeal form, Arthes will go through (literally) the left-side door.
GM Tyranius |
This musty storeroom is filled with boxes and crates stacked
in disorganized piles, some only a few boxes high and others
reaching all the way to the ceiling. Small puddles stand on
the floor, and the occasional drip of water echoes in the
darkness.
Some of the boxes and crates are stacked to the ceiling. A wooden sign on the western door reads "Scriptorium- Quiet Please" and Concealed behind some cartons there is another door, labeled with a small sign reading "Archives-Private"
Sitting in the middle of the room a small plant with sickly flowers emitting a smokey yellow vapor.

Trevyn says to Garox "Let us prepare correctly... wait for the others to prepare themselves as well."
Let's wait until everyone is in this room and in the position they prefer before we barge in. :)
Azura ~bluedove |
Azura follows behind the others, wincing at the stuffed Owlbear now rent in two. She peers through the next door and shakes her head, frowning. "I don't like the look of that thing, no?" She tries to think back to Botany class and what dangers the strange plant might pose.
Bardic Knowledge: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 (I'm guessing this is a Nature check, primary question: what is that smokey yellow vapor?)
Once she has shared her insights, she begins to sing again to inspire her comrades.
Azura still has her bow out and she will begin her 3rd round of Bardic Performance to Inspire Courage. +1 to attack and +1 to damage to all allies.
GM Tyranius |
I am going to assume that you guys were all already in the room preparing to go into the next room. That is part of the deal that would be easily clarified if we were sitting at a table in RL.

Realizing what the plant was, Azura shook her head again. "The things they keep in this museum! Take care, that Yellow Musk Creeper can fire out a pollen attack that can entrance the mind while it bores it's tendrils into your brain to turn you into a mindless zombie." She shudders at the thought and prepares to watch out for her team.
Ugh! Azura begins her 3rd round of Bardic Performance: Inspire Courage as I said before and will be standing by to use saving finale if need be.
Trevyn Deepmarsh |
Trevyn moves forward into the room, but waits for his next turn so that he can move up and deliver his STILL-saved touch spell.
GM Tyranius |
Camlin moves into the room as he hurls a dart at a stack of crates while Azura continues her inspiring and uplifting song.

Double moved Garox into flanking position per your post.

Azura's voice rises in pitch and resonates with vibrato as she ends her vocal performance with a stirring finale.

Camlin slams his tonfa into the plant as Azura raises her voice for all to hear the thrilling conclusion to her song.
Rafiki deftly slams a bullet from his sling deep into the plant's body as it rips away a solid chunk of green as if splitting a head of lettuce.
Garox double hands his Earthbreaker as he smashes the small plant into bits, chunks erupt all about the room.
Trevyn is left holding his spell as his hand begins to tingle and go numb from needing to be released.
