Post when your profile is complete (or close to it).
Starting on Wednesday, (If your late I'll still work you into the game.)
Posting in here just to bump it and mark t with a little black dot so that I'll find it quicker.
Txoro, I assume that my profile sheet is correct now? I had some mistakes the last time you checked it. I'm also thinking up some background. Oh! And I posted! Play has begun!

I don't know what happened. 2 just disappeared, 2 said they were posting PCs but never did, leaving 4 of us, 2 of whom never posted in the IC thread other than as placeholders - I kept waiting for them to chip in rather than just back and forward between 2 of us but they never did. Don't know why these things happen...
I'm still around, although as it wasn't looking good I've got some other games on the go. It would be difficult to go ahead with 2 of us so you might try re-recruiting and see if you get any bites - maybe the lack of rules for some people could be an issue but I'm always bumping into people looking for games.

Thanks for sticking around, I could actually run it with 2 REGULAR players, I would just put a 3rd dmPC in there.

I'm posting right now! The contest really is a poor excuse, so I really offer my apologies. I becme discouraged too, when no one else was getting into it.
I'm writing my post so anyone can slide right in with the action. That is, Garrett will assume player posting was always there.
Thanks for your continued efforts Txoro!

I was getting a bit frustrated as well, Earthdawn is my favorite RPG, and I really want to promote it through introducing the new edition to people.
Plus we had 9 people interested at first, and several just went *POOF!* heh.
Glad we have some new blood and we can move forward now.
New people feel free to jump in now.
Fray, you can go ahead and do Roleplay aspects if you have a character concept in mind, if not, I'll have you "catch-up" to the party.

razzer frackin' message board ate my pst! Ack!
When dealing with RP threads I almost always write them out in word first. Or at the very least, if I know I've been typing a while in one of these forms a while I Ctrl-A Ctrl-C (Select All, Copy) before hitting post to make sure I can recover it on a timeout.
PS: I'm lordelwin on LJ, which is only relevant in that I'm a patron on OD projects. I don't contribute commentary that much, but I've certainly read your posts often enough. BTW, you have my vote this round (and last) for RPG superstar. Keep up the good work!

The way my character is currently built I was thinking he's a young trader who came when the kaer opened up to establish a new trade route. He stayed to help the town and establish relations in the hopes of getting a head start on favorable trade deals.
Does that work well or is it better if my character is local to the new kaer?

Good to be playing with you. I've admired Earthdawn for a long time, and it's fun to be finally playing it.

Made a couple of corrections. in bold. You have no arrows for your bows.
Put an asterisk next to the spells you have in your spell matrixs.
Note to everyone: There's no penalty for spellcasters in Earthdawn wearing armor...

I spent my karma point, relected on my profile character sheet.
You've told me that my wound chart is wrong, but I must be dense because I don't get it. Could you just tell me what it should be, and maybe I'll be able to reverse engineer from the rules why it is what it is?

I added hardened leather armor and 40 arrows for the bow and assigned Dispell Magic and Mind Dagger to my matrix slots.

Any one know how to get paizo's die roller to reroll on a max result?
As far as I know, you just have to roll again, if anyone knows how to make Paizo's diceroller have exploding dice please inform the rest of us.
I've only run one other Earthdawn game, so if I make some errors, please forgive me and let's move on.
A note on Astral sight, since I had to look up the rules again. Duration is 1 round per rank.
For those unfamiliar with Earthdawn; some talents cause Strain, so when you use the talent, it causes you to take damage equal to the strain rating, for example Astral Sight has Strain:1. So if you had 3 ranks in Astral sight you could look into astral space for 3 rounds for 1 point of strain.
Game on.

Txoro of Barsaive |

One thing my old GM did when making artisan tests is allow the players to take additional time to perform their artisan skill.
So far we've had 2 poor results, at least no one had a pathetic result.
A poor result is a failure, and you might want make another attempt.
the Result table is on pg 16 of the 3e Player's Guide.
Pathetic (a spectacular failure often with crit fail results.)
Poor (a normal failure)
Average (an unimpressive success)
Good (a fairly impressive success)
Excellent (at close to double the DC, this is an impressive result, and in the case of combat is an armor defeating hit.)
Extraordinary (as good as it gets.)

Ok, I have the basics done. I'll flesh it out and add a background in the next few days.
Basically thinking that he hasn't really chosen a path yet, or at least hasn't been focused enough. He brother was recently killed and now he has to step up to the plate to fulfill his family's honor. (and his own)
Still looking for a last name.

Troll Swordmaster, nice...
Still have some stats to fill in. Nice.

Is it possible to buy Talents that are not on your list?
Also can someone point me to a spot to help with troll names?
I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with a last name.
Not at the beginning of the game unless you're a human, then you can buy them with Versatility Talent of humans. Otherwise you have to find a teacher to teach you the new discipline, then you can get talents off that list. (Some disciplines are fairly mutually exclusive, such as Air Sailor and Sky Raider, as Disciplines also encompass a mindset, not every Archer has the same mindset, but the way they approach life is based upon archery, whether they approach it from close at hand and direct to the point, or they perhaps approach it from a distance and from a loftier ideal.)
A Thief/Archer Multi-Discipline might blend their approach to life as direct and to the point, but always from the best angle for maximum efficiency, where they take life by surprise.
While a Sky Raider/Archer might see life as an obstacle that can be approached from various angles as long as it's to their best advantage.
I can look in Crystal Raiders book when I get home today.

Txoro of Barsaive |

Here are some names from Crystal Raider moots, unless you're a crystal raider you'd prolly want to steer clear of these actual names, but they'll give you an idea of how trolls are named.
Thundersky
Ironbender
Darkcloud
Bronzeclaw
Rockfall
Firewalker
Swiftwind
Ironmonger
Skyseeker
Stoneclaws
Rockhorn
Firescale
Bloodlore
Blackfang
Heartspear
Swordcutter
Firefang

I'm running this same game for my kids, and the very first attack on one of my son's elven thief is an armor defeating hit for 19 dmg!! So he takes a wound, and has to roll for knockdown with a d10...he gets a 21 -1 for the wound!!! And stays up!!!
They thought that was so cool, especially since I described it as the ******* *** slammed his head against the tree with a nasty blow from its *****. but the tree itself kept him from falling down...

I thought I was almost done too. Daughter had the stomach flu, so we got no sleep the last few nights. She's better now.
Txoro can you tell me what I need to start?
That would help me get done faster.
I know my background will have to wait a bit until real life settles down but I'm running around in my hamster wheel right now.
We have 100 sp to buy stuff right?

Watcher |

Hey gang,
You'll have to count me out until at least Saturday. Sorry about that. Txoro, please feel free to NPC me until that time!
Much appreciated!

You have my sympathies, it really sucks when it hurts so bad you can't sleep. Speaking from recent experience.
Here's hoping no one else catches it, she continues to get better, and your family gets back to normal.

Yes, you have 100sp to start.
You character looks close to completion, you could probably jump in while you're finishing, and I'm glad your daughter is better.

I'll glance over what needs to be finished, most of the info is on the Characteristics table on pg28.
I notice you didn't take any talents from the Talent Options (acrobatic strike, avoid blow, first impression, speak language or wound balance.)
It's easier to spend legend points to increase a talent from rank 1 to 2, than it is to learn a new talent at rank 1.

I took 2 in Avoid Blow.
I didn't think we could take more than one. If so would it be better to have Avoid Blow 1 and Acrobatic Strike 1?
Txoro of Barsaive |

Ok, i think i'm done...
but i don't know how many Karma points I have...
You have 3 Karma/Max Karma (listed under race stats for future reference.)
-Knockdown is your strength step. (you use this when you suffer a wound to not be knocked down.)
-
Taunt reduces action steps and social defense by 1 for each level of success, which lasts for Rank Rounds.
-
You strength ignores that -1 penalty for armor. (you use your strength # and look up the mystic armor that would be provided by it to determine how much penalty is reduced for high STR)
-
Troll Sword
Attack: 9 (d6d8) Dmg Step 13 (d10d12)
Dagger
Attack: 9 (d6d8) Dmg Step: 9 (d6d8)
Range(yds) 2-10/11-20
(damage steps are the damage step of the weapon + the Strength step of the user.)
did they get rid of our line spacing? or am I glitching?
