Dart turns to his Vesk companion. "Oh I am not, good Valikar. I am a kasathas of action. I just know that others I travel with can be the more bookish sort. But there are dangers in Libraries as well, like mazes and Hellknights!"
Plachant looks over to Kemple and sighs in a "Yours too?" look.

![]() |

With the research you are able to ascertain that the ancient culture was very advanced both culturally and technologically.
The ancients were the izalguun.
You also find a log entry about visitors whose description suggests the visitors were Starfinders, but the entry doesn’t reveal what happened to them.

![]() |

Plachant points out izalguun symbolism to Dart. Not knowing what to make of it, Plachant mouths, "The Tear" Then with eventual realization, "Ah This must be the home system of the Izal-gummer-whos" Planchant quitely coughs "Izalguun." Dart continues. "Yes the Centaur Reptile-ish folk!"
Plachant sighs, "Very good, Sir"
After basking in his moment of brilliance, Darts attention shifts. "There he is again." Points to where he saw the humaniod. "But that was not a Izalguun. It was only two arms and two legs. If there are starfinders here, they may be held up at that secured facility. The military base."
Dart pauses a moment to wait and see the feelings of the others before charging off

![]() |

Looking over to Dart, Klysk says through telepathy Yes, let us head there.

![]() |

Hollis nods in agreement.
"I've also encountered the Izalguun, and you're right, that definitely wasn't one. You're also right that is seems likely that if the Starfinders we're looking for aren't wandering around like us that they're being held in that facility. Let's go."

![]() |

As the Starfinders approach the military base, the see the same human figure approaching the gates, surrounded by four dog-shaped robots with long whip-tails. The androgynous human speaks to the Starfinders in a soft, calm voice. "How may I help you?" it asks.

![]() |

Hollis regards the figure.
I wonder where it learned our language? Or is it telepathic?
"We found records in your data archives that some of our fellow Starfinders visited this city.
Hollis extends his hand palm down and flexes some of the small muscles there, causing a holographic Starfinder Society insignia to appear, floating an inch or so above the back of his hand.
"Can you tell us where they are or what happened to them?"

![]() |

Tilting his head slightly as he looks at the figure and their bizarre companions, Klysk sends out a message with his mind as he too activates his subdermal graft. Yes, can you tell us anything about anyone who may have had any similar symbols in their possession?

![]() |

Kemple just shrugs at Plachant's look, and gives the vesk a fond pat he doesn't even notice. What could you do, really?
When they reach the gates of the military base Valikar takes it upon himself to do what vesk do best when not charging about making a ruckus. He looms. Not aggressively mind you, but he is just very much there, and very much large as he stands like a dark lump of scars behind Hollis and Klysk. "We'd appreciate the help." He flashes his teeth, it's probably meant to be a lizardy smile, but who knows if it actually looks friendly or threatening.

![]() |

"I am sorry, I do not know of whom you are speaking of." says the person. "I am A-1, and I am able to help you navigate the city, but I must prevent you from entering this military base."
You do not make contact with any mind, and the person does not respond to your mental communication.

![]() |

Angling his head toward the rest of the group, Klysk mentally contacts them to say So, I was not able to contact this individual's mind. I am not entirely sure what this means. Maybe they are some form of remote-controlled body or illusion of some kind? He then looks towards his drone and signs some instructions at it.
Raising itself up on its multiple legs, the drone speaks to the entity that has called itself A-1. "How is it that you have come to know how to better navigate this city? Also, why must you prevent us from heading into this military base?"

![]() |

Valikar has the sense not to respond outloud, though his body language pretty clearly states he thinks if he just kept walking forward the person in front of the team wasn't going to be able to stop him.
He sends back to Klysk along the mental connection a few of his own thoughts. Advanced robotics? We need to examine this place. Didn't drop the shield to not check under every rock. We could use it to help us search the rest of the city first, though.

![]() |

Dart cheerily responds. "Who are you guarding this base for? It seems your builders have left. I have met some. Nice people. Seems like they have forsaken their technology and you along with it. Do you have a purpose anymore?"
Plachant looks shocked at his employer that he got out a somewhat coherent request.

![]() |

"I was left in charge, to protect the city, to make sure it kept running. I am A-1, and I am protector, manager, and guide" says the person. "I can show you many places, just not this base, as it is far too dangerous for you here."

![]() |

"This city is the pinnacle of modern automation. The robots here are able to perform their duties unceasingly. They never grow tired, and they never complain.
"The stores will remain stocked ready for customers, and the factories will continue making their products, waiting for their customers."

![]() |

"I do not know anything about Starfinders." replies A-1. "Who are the Starfinders?"

![]() |

If this thing is some sort of machine, it sure is a thick one.
"They have an insignia like this."
Hollis once again shows A-1 his holographic Starfinder insignia.
He also pulls out his datapad and shows A-1 the various records that the team recovered from the library, showing that the Starfinders were here.
"Those Starfinders!"

![]() |

"I am sorry, but that information is classified." says A-1 in a calm tone. "I am unable to comment on it."
"How may I be of service? I could show you to a nice bistro, or perhaps you are in search of a new business suit?"

![]() |

Hollis takes on a more military posture.
"You will obey my commands, soldier! I assure you that I have all of the appropriate clearances."
If I can take ten for a 23 plus d6+1 Intimidate/Bluff then I will, otherwise here are my rolls.
Hollis Bluff: 1d20 + 13 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 13 + (3) + 1 = 33
Hollis thinks at his companions and gives them a meaningful look, "Now is when you back me up."
Assists are welcome.

![]() |

if you are taking ten, which you could in this situation, you should so something like in the spoiler below
Hollis initimidate, take 10: 10 + 13 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ 10 + 13 + (3) + 1 = 27
Hollis bluff, take 10: 10 + 13 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ 10 + 13 + (4) + 1 = 28
In fact, both checks are needed... and both of those are sufficient
Hollis makes a show of his martial prowess, and yells at the person. A-1 shows a little emotion, for the first time, as they respond, "Apologies, Starfinder, for that is what you appear to be. Please do not destroy us!
"To be completely honest, there was a situation that happened about a year ago. A group similar to you, who I based my current appearance on, visited the city. However, they attempted to force their way into this military base, and my defense robots ended up killing them. This was not the result we were hoping for.
"Upon investigating the the Starfinders, as I now know they are called, we discovered information about a group of Starfinders trapped on the desert planet Callion-1. Our computers have detected weak signals coming from that planet within the last 24 hours, which may mean some of the Starfinders are likely still alive."
When done talking, the image of A-1 dissolves before your eyes, revealing that they were nothing but a hologram.
Mission success!
Where to next?"

![]() |

Tilting their head slightly as A1 dissolves, Klysk thinks to himself Ah, they were a hologram. A technological illusion. He then projects his thoughts out to the rest of the party. If I remember correctly, there are only two locations we have not yet traveled to. Those would be the factory and the shopping mall. Perhaps we should head to the factory before looping back around to the other location?

![]() |

Sorry, misunderstanding, you have found the information you needed. Recon mission complete.

![]() |

Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding.
I recall that some people wished to punch some dinosaurs? Do they still wish to do so?

![]() |

I would not mind punch dinosaurs, purely because it sounds entertaining, but I am also up for other options.
Valikar stares as the hologram fades, glances around at the others, then just shrugs his shoulders at Klysk before speaking with his actual voice. "Think we ought to check the desert world. Better lead than this place. And I don't want to risk angering something that kills experienced Starfinders. Could put other teams at risk. Even if it warms us up."

![]() |

Moving to dinos!!!
Fitch nods a quick greeting as she approaches on the floor of landing bay deck. “We’re getting emergency transmissions on a Starfinder frequency from Agillae-2, a habitable planet nearby. Your mission is to investigate the signal and bring back anything that might help us find survivors. The source of the signal appears to be right in the middle of a large swath of treacherous wetland that’s covered in thick vegetation, so finding a suitable spot to land on may be a challenge. Also, our bio scans indicate an incredible amount of biodiversity, so be careful out there!”
As Fitch predicts, there are few spots where the PCs can land their starship without getting branches and vines in the engines. Thankfully, a few enormous rock monoliths jut out from the steamy swamp and jungle terrain. The largest of them is only 2 miles from the destination and looks relatively easy to land upon, while a smaller rock just a mile from the destination looks a lot more difficult.
If you want to do the smaller rock, I will need a piloting check from your pilot (no assists)

![]() |

Buzz is able to safely land the ship on the smaller rock. It is a little precarious, but it will do.
After landing, you realize that you will need to do some trekking overland to find where the beacon is. As you make your way, you run into multiple swarms of biting insects on the way.
Buzz, could you please fill out your skill checks and saves on slides #2 and #3. Thank you.

Hollis is able to help the team avoid the biting swarm without too much incident.
The team then comes to a large lake of murky, green water. While it appears relatively shallow, the team realizes that it is quite broad and could be tiring to cross. Kylsk is able to build a quick raft to cross the lake on.

You need to decide on which is the safest path to take. Valikar determines that the feathered bipeds are really the least territorial of the three, and you all take a course past them, safely.

Plachant points out some tracks to Dart, which appear to be from a large, carnivorous dinosaur. You are able to try and sneak towards the creature, as the tracks lead to the NW (upper right corner of the map), which happens to also be where the beacon is. Though the team tries to be quiet, they do not sneak up on the dinosaur, who notices them. The large, bipedal dinosaur sees you, and roars out in anger!

Valikar watches Dart... dart off, then lets out a growl that it's probably safe to assume is a chuckle. "I like tag. Good way to make friends." The large vesk's muscles bunch up and then he launches himself into a run towards the dinosaur. He returns the creature's greeting with a bellowing shout of his own while he jumps across one of the shallows of green water.
He moves with impressive mobility for someone his size, clearing all of the obstacles with a series of lazy leaps and eventually scaling a set of rocks without slowing to perch on while waiting for a chance to pounce.
Double moving to new location. Valikar has Jet Dash which doubles how far he can jump meaning the minimum he can get is 24ft, and he has climbing master which gives him a climb speed. So none of the obstacles should slow him.

Valikar, note that a climb speed does not preclude the need for athletics checks to climb in hazardous situations (like combat). However, you can always take 10. In this case, it is more than enough.
Dart moves forward and draws his weapon, after attuning himself and surrounding himself with his plasma sheath.
Note: this ability appears to be poorly worded. I think it is supposed to mean that it last 1 round, or until you leave photon mode, which ever is less... but I am looking for rulings.
Buzz fires past the cover of the rocks. However, he still manages to hit!
Both Klysk and Valikar move forward to fight the thing.
