Dart H'andmand was a washout technician from the colony ship Idari. When he became of age, he was encouraged to go out and bring back something useful that would prove his worth.

As such he went down to Akiton. Having little skill, he became a laborer and would move from town to town as work was needed. For Dart, the work was good and the drink was plentiful. Occasionally he would find himself in the city of Arl and take part in the amateur fighting pits. Afterwards he would drink his winnings, or his wounds, away.

One night after a winning bout and then the traditional spending of winnings, he was staggering back to his room when a ysoki priest got his intention. The ysoki starting telling Dart about the Lashunta Hero God, "Kayden Kalin, the Drinkless Adventurer." Dart was intrigued and slowly read all the holy texts that the ysoki provided. The texts told of how by putting down the drink, and taking up the sword, one can go forth and bring righteousness to the galaxy.

At that time Dart "Put down the drink. And took up the Sword" to start his new life. Tough meditation and focus, he was able to conjure "the blessed tankard." And saw this as his sign to help the helpless. He started out in the back alleys of Art, protecting the other lonely people who found their way to this city. He would save them then tell them of the virtues of Kaydin Kalin. Mostly other would just nod and smile and thank him for his help but otherwise move along.

One evening, he spotted a lone figure facing off against three shobhad brutes. Dart had heard of the shobhad gang terrorizing the lower parts of Art, and quickly jumped in to action with the lone figure to fight off the giants. Although surpised, the andriod appreciated the help and told Dart of his task in the bowels of Art. The android told Dart that he was a member of a thing called the Starfinder Society and was there to retrieve some data for the Society. Magnus, the android, to Dart about the Societies goals and that they could use someone like him in the Society. Since Dart had helped the android, he was offered passage to Absalom station and sponsorship in to the Starfinder Society.

Dart finds himself now, freshly after his probationary mission for the Starfinder Society, he has completed his training and is ready to take on the mantle of a full member.
