Welcome to the PBP version of scenario 01-56 The Jester's Fraud as part of the Outpost online game convention. This scenario is for PFS characters level 3-7. We will muster up to 5 spots for the table per Outpost rules, but it seems we currently have just 4 signed up.
Originally, Season 1 scenarios were written for 4 players, so that should work out just as fine, as long as everyone musters.
If you find the thread, please include the basic PFS info needed for Chronicle sheets:
Player Name
Character Name
PFS# including charcter extension
Faction
Day Job (you can roll if you like)
Looking forward to starting the game on March 5th when Outpost officially kicks off.

Player Name: Shalm
Character Name: Wit Stills the Risen
PFS# including charcter extension: 69739-1
Faction: Scarab Sages
Day Job (you can roll if you like): Earns back 1 PP instead of a Day Job roll using boon from a module

DM DoctorEvil |

Thanks for mustering so far. Waiting on one more (ElektraDawn) I will send them a PM as an alert. Welcome to Valandil as 5th.
My mistake above, but this adventure is 5-9, not 3-7. We are a solid 6 with the 4 mustered so far. Will see if the last PC shifts that subtier any.
Look forward to starting on or about 3/5.

Sorry Ignatius, but the 5th spot is already taken for this game. Since this is a Season 1 scenario, the Outpost braintrust is holding the game to just 5 spots. I appreciate the interest, but we now full. Have to catch you on the next one.

D'OH, just accidentally dotted into this GamePlay thread with a wrong character (Doc, you just took over another game that I'm in and meant to post there with the other PC).
Is there any way I can remove that character (Boftil) from the character list, or is it not really a problem worth stressing about?

![]() |

Sorry for not putting my name on the sheet. I lost a lot of thread dot's in the board swap over, so didn't even notice the comment about heading over there. Still should have through about it.

DM DoctorEvil |

No worries.
With the existing 5, our APL is 5.8 which means we will be playing down in the 5-6 subtier.
I posted the opening entry, and am fine with starting early, if you want to react and respond.
As with all early season scenarios, there are the faction missions available. While they don't count for PP awards as they did then, I am happy to share yours for flavor alone, you can feel free to complete or not. Just LMK here if you want to see yours...
Good luck in the barren sticks of backwater Taldor!

Alright, in retrospect, I realize that was probably more inappropriate than it needed to be.
I didn't start typing with that in mind, it just kind of flowed naturally.
Though, if it helps, upon rereading it, it insults him just as badly =)
Anyway, I'll try to keep it to a minimum going forward.

I can't speak for anyone else but *I* laughed ;)

![]() |

Sorry, read "rest of the party" as everyone, but obviously it meant everyone but me. I'll change as needed.

![]() |

Isn't that why I'm here? ;)

Wizards use their own level for staves - although I agree this is a bit of an unusual staff so its not 100% clear whether that would be the case with this one.
Although true, in general, the quarterstaff of entwined serpents is not a stave in that sense (it's not even a spell trigger item). It is a weapon, that just happens to allow you to cast a CL3 magic missile whenever you want.
(Uses craft weapon to make, not craft staff, and can be used by anyone whether its on their spell list or not)Sindelle is correct.

![]() |

I played a starfinder game at gen con and the pfs table next to me had 3 people with that quarterstaff and their gm was a venture captain and they had that exact discussion which is why I knew about it! It's still a crazy good item! If Sindelle followed Nethys I'd totally save up and buy it for her!

![]() |

I've not seen it clarified anywhere. I've tended to go with the 2d4+2 for the two missiles which it is specific about, and my level for any caster level checks. But happy to swing the other way as it is a pretty neat staff no matter what. And Val didn't know about the spell resistance anyway.

Sorry I work lots over weekends so I don't get a lot of time to post.

DM DoctorEvil |

I generally have more time on the weekends, so apologize if we got out in front of you. Stugbu did an admirable job as the face of the group meanwhile.
As a heads up -- I will be leaving tomorrow AM for Spring Break/Campus tours with the family. My ability to post daily may be affected, so please be patient. We will return on Saturday.

![]() |

Hey no problem it happens to me a lot with these hours!

![]() |

Sorry all, I'm out of town for work for a few days so I'll be slow posting until Thursday. Feel free to bot me.

![]() |

yea I'm still just really confused as to what we're supposed to do...how could they have this kind of a set up with no map?

DM DoctorEvil |

The final act of the scenario occurs here at Rhoetius, but it may be a little complex. Let me know if I am not being clear on my explantion of the setting, provided you get inside...
I had not read or played this scenario before offering to run it for Outpost. I am not a big fan. While the concept is interesting the execution of the encounters is not. (like no map for the slug battle). Likely no more than 2 stars if I had to write a review.
I'll try to flesh the last act out better than its written, but bear with me.

![]() |

No problems at all. I for one have been enjoying the scenario so far. Thanks again for picking up our orphaned table.

![]() |

It's going fine. A number of early scenario's didn't include all hte maps, which can be frustrating. I think the one you selected did a good job.

![]() |

I'll be out for the next couple of days, please bot me as required.

![]() |

Suggestions for actions:
Grease on the mace. (DC 18)
Full round summons probably level 3, but only if things look dicey.
Possibly another ice spear.

DM DoctorEvil |

I've got to report the game before we finish so the Venture Officers can tally up the results and get it all official. If you roll a 1 or a 20, you win a boon. If you win, i need your email address.
Valandil: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Touchy: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Stugbu: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Sindelle: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Wit: 1d20 ⇒ 9
DM DoctorEvil: 1d20 ⇒ 16
eh, no winners. I will report the game to Outpost HQ tonight, but we will still try to finish it up, with a bit to go.

![]() |

Hi all - I wanted to let you know that I've just been selected to serve on a jury, so I my posting will be sporadic at best for the immediate future (so probably as long as this scenario lasts). Please feel free to bot me as necessary. Thanks!

So...are we still playing, GM?
