Background:
Ignatius was born in a small town by the name of Everend within the kingdom of Lastwall. Everend had a big secret; just outside the town, in the dark woods a demonic cult once tried to summon a powerful demonic lord. Since then, Ignatius's family has been maintaining the wards and securing the temple grounds from any cultists that would want to return to complete the ritual. The proximity to this evil temple takes its toll, and occasionally a child in this family is born "tainted." Ignatius was one such unlucky child.
Fearing that the townfolk would see him as a sign that the family was engaging in demonic worship themselves, they sent him to live with his uncle Verhoven. Verhoven was an eccentric woodsman who had once served as a shield marshall. He taught Ignatius how to survive in the woods, how to pray to Erastril, and the secrets of gunpowder.
