Thanks. Though I feel slightly a bit more better today, though not by much. I am getting there.

Markov Wolfpelt |

Thank you for letting us know. I hope you are having fun on vacation. :)

Yes enjoy your time off. I have an in game question how large is the fang berry patch, I wanted to know how practical the smoke out idea is and wondered if we tried to smoke out the spiders how much work it would be.

Markov Wolfpelt |

Right now is okay. Though I think when we get a few more people, we may want to speed it up a little bit. But I have to say, I like stories. So if there is something interesting, and thematic, I'd want to see it! ")

Nedyr |

Feel free to beef up your posts if you feel like getting more descriptive with details, Kenderkin.
As for the pace? It's a bit slow, but then I've been distracted by RL lately so that's actually been to my advantage. I do think Markov is right. Once we get new players we may need to pick it up a bit.

Alexander Medvyed |

I can go with what the others have said. One thing that I would add that is only partially related is that combat seems ambiguous at times. That may be my just my particular tastes as a tactically oriented player showing through. I feel that I can't get a grasp of the specifics without a visual representation or a lot more info like distance and placement of friendlies and enemies that kind of thing. In a fight using say Color Spray might end the combat entirely or put us at an significant advantage but without knowing how things are actually laid out I have no idea if it is going to work or even put the party in jeopardy unless I bombard you with questions or put all kinds of if then sentences together. How do you want to work things?

KenderKin |
I do understand the desire for combat and the wonderful things that can happen in a combat scenario.
I often try and give the lay of the land and positioning such that many assumptions are both safe and valid.
I have run several scenarios that divided action into areas and parts to define what can or can not happen.
As far as color spray and other effects that cover an area of effect (sleep) etc. I tend to have the effect encapsulate as many enemies as the most advantageous to the party as a whole (unless you designate the leader for example).
I will not typically have any allies at risk in a combat scenario and prefer the free form style (except for important battles).
Let me give you an example from The Speaker in Dreams (that I have run twice via play by post!)
Though the fair does not extend into this neighborhood, at least one group of entertainers has decided to set up a stage in Southspur, hoping to find an attentive audience. Prancing about on the back of a wagon, a trio of actors are engaged in a lame farce, though the object of their lampooning is not immediately obvious. Passersby slow their pace for a moment, watching, then shake their heads and move on.
”Men hast but two emotions: Hungry an Horny. If seen without an erection, make him a sandwich.”

KenderKin |
Suddenly the back curtain of the stage is torn open to reveal a massive grey-skinned humanoid with wild black hair and no discernable eyes. It lifts an axe high overhead, apparently savoring the screams of the actors, while more of these strange creatures spill onto the stage and the surrounding street.

The wagon stage is 15 feet long, 10 feet wide and 4 feet off the ground.
Stage: 3 actors, 2 grimlocks
Street: 7 commoners, 3 grimlocks
DM Notes
Surprise round! 2 grimlocks on the street slice into a couple of commoners, and one on the stage kills an actor.....
Initiative 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Beat that!

KenderKin |
So in this scenario there is one overall location, but it is divided between what is happening on the street and what is occuring on the stage. Of course getting from one area to another is a chore, but a spellcaster/archer on the street can certainly target the stage....
In this case I continued to summarize the action seperately and we were able to effectively track everything and have a challenging and satisfying combat.

I prefer maps but I understand that it can be a pain to put them together as well as lay everything out.
I also wanted to relay a request from Rowena Kenderkin could you remove Ariarh Kane from the Current Characters section. She wanted to remove it so it doesn't show as active for her on her game list. Thanks

Alexander Medvyed |

Thanks KenderKin. On the maps it is my preference but I can deal. Using them occasionally for scripted big or complicated fights would be cool.
I can understand how real life gets in the way hope things get easier for you.

Markov Wolfpelt |

Be well Alexander.

Markov Wolfpelt |

Could post a new recruitment thread instead of restarting the old one for people we need. Would that help?

Markov Wolfpelt |

Great! Lets see who we can dredge up for this next part of exploration. Also, I don't know if we have or not, but have we leveled up since the Kobold den? Also, what exactly did we earn from the moon radish quest?

Markov Wolfpelt |

You know, aside from the 20pb and starting level is second, what are the other guidelines for creating a character for this game?
So the creation rules as follows?
- 20pb
- Start at second level
- Second level gold
- Two Traits, one being a Kingmaker trait
- All Paizo pathfinder material? No third party?
Is there anything else I am missing?

Markov Wolfpelt |

Alright, it will be just a few minutes.

Markov Wolfpelt |

Right, recruitment thread posted! Here is the thread for it, I hope you like it.

Markov Wolfpelt |

How long would you like recruitment to go on KenderKin? I am thinking it should at least last til after Christmas. And it looks like we got a few applications already. Though seems like it is leaning more of hex users or oracles. Seen a occult class in there as well. Should be interesting to see who will apply next.

Markov Wolfpelt |

I don't know about Nedyr and Alexander, but I guess voting is alright. There seems to be a couple more applications, but not much right now. I hope we get a few more after Christmas.

Markov Wolfpelt |

No problems, I think we're all in the same situation. So Happy Holidays!:)

Markov Wolfpelt |

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Merry Christmas yesterday! Wishing everyone well and may everyone have fun! :)

Markov Wolfpelt |

Looks like we got a decent group of applications so far. Do we start our choosing tomorrow night? Or do we wait a bit longer? What do you guys think?
Also, I hope Alexander is alright. Would like to know how he is doing and if he is up to continuing this story.

Markov Wolfpelt |

I hope everyone had a Happy New Years! Since it has come and gone, when shall we see about choosing who to join? There are a couple good choices in the recruitment thread and I know I am ready to continue this game, if possible.

Markov Wolfpelt |

So we have...
- Archae: Sola Nym, Aasimar Mesmerist
- Brooklyn85: Olo Dudley, Halfling Bard
- pauljathome: Nimbrifil, Gnome Life Oracle
- Edward Sobel: White Eagle, Human Shaman
- Something Wicked: Arvanya Pertovi, Human Witch
- Xunal: Sajuk, Half-Orc Sorcerer
- Dave Herman: Kevos Iola, Human Investigator
- Tharasiph: Thessk, Lizardman Cleric
- B.A. Ironskull: Mahdrig, Changeling Druid
- rknop: Orrik Greystone, Diviner Wizard
- EmissaryOfTheNorth: Rasheed the Bright, Human Paladin
- Christopher Rowe: Millicent "Millie" duFore, Human Bard
What do you all think? I am drifting towards the wizard Orrik for knowledge, and... Maybe the Druid Mahrig for healing.
