Aakif mutters, "I knew this was a horrible idea," as he lets another arrow fly towards the ship.
Aakif's arrow flies true, over the side of the ship and strikes the vegepygmy's shoulder. Unfortunately, the vegepygmy barely seems to notice.

Makoa sets out across the bridge .
Vegepygmy #3 heads down the steps off the aftcastle and over by the steps that the chieftain and Douena will soon be coming down . #5 moves slightly and attacks Mahjik with his claws.
Mahjik has no difficulty dodging the clumsy swipes.

"If they don't have a groin, why do you think they all look like guy mushrooms and picked the only girl in the party to abduct?" Mahjik steps in closer, accentuating his argument with thuds as his fists try to find a weak point in the chieftain's body.

Urza's bolt flies through the air and strikes #5, lodging right in the neck. #5 stays up though, barely perturbed by the bolt's presence.
Mahjik follows after the chieftain and Douena. He tries to strike at the cheiftain, but unfortunately can't find an opening past Douena.

"I don't know how you can tell the difference between boy mushrooms and girl mushrooms," Douena replies to Mahjik, still struggling to escape, "but I'm pretty sure this isn't a peaceful, matriarchal society. Let go!"
This time, Douena manages to wriggle free of the chieftain's grasp, and moves away from him. The chieftain scowls and swipes at Mahjik in retaliation.
The chieftain hasn't fully recovered from trying to hold Douena, however, and is unable to place his attacks appropriately. He moves down the steps

"Bah, bolts and arrows are doing nothing." Aakif slings his bow over his shoulder and moves forward in preparation of making the crossing to the ship over a fungus rope.
Aakif moves towards the middle bridge while Lorenz continues on his way across the southern one. Makoa gets himself a bit entangle in the fungus ropes and cannot move quite as quickly.
Vegepygmy #5 steps over his two fallen comrades to get at Mahjik, while #3 moves up the steps on Mahjik's other side. They both swipe with their claws.
With them coming at him from both sides, Mahjik is unable to fully avoid them. The claws swipe across his stomach and back.

Reeling from the attacks of the vegepygmies Mahjik puts up a brave offense - but the stinging pain in his side makes it hard to fight effectively.
Mahjik side-steps to Douena to get out of the vicious flanking death trap he had gotten himself into.

Mahjik valiantly tries to attack the two surrounding him, but unfortunately they avoid his blows.

As Mahjik steps back toward her, Douena notices the many trickles of blood from his multiple scratches and reaches out to touch him. "Desna bless you for defending me," she tells him.
Leaning to the side to look around him, she reprimands the vegepygmy chieftan. "I've been trying to get you to take me to see the rest of the ship, and all you wanted to do was threaten people and make them eat fungus. Now, you grab me and pull me somewhere. People are more likely to cooperate with you when you don't force them, you know. You stop attacking Mahjik right now and we'll both go look at whatever it is you wanted to show me."
The chieftain seems to pay no attention to Douena's words as he circles round the mast and up the east steps towards where his spear is still lying .
Aakif reaches the middle bridge and starts across
Lorenz makes it almost to the shore .
Makoa gets himself untangled and vaults across, just making it to the deck of the ship .
The vegepygmies continue their attacks on Mahjik. #5 moves up closer and then attempts to aid #3 in his attack on Mahjik.
#5 is able to distract Mahjik just momentarily enough for #3 scrape a claw across his back.

Seeing the chieftain trying to get back into the action, Mahjik slides passed his assailants and connects a powerful uppercut into the chief - the positive energy from Douena's goddess buoying his body into the air. The momentum of the impact is just not enough to carry Mahjik around in time to land a heel stomp as well.
Mahjik places a solid blow to the chieftains chin. It hurts him, but he remains standing.

Douena touches Mahjik to infuse him with the luck of Desna. "Try not to kill him too hard, Mahjik," she tells him with a regretful look at the chieftan. "I still think there's a lot of language-barrier-related confusion between us."
Douena reaches out to Mahjik, but in doing so lets down her defenses, and #5 strikes at her.
However, Douena is able to side-step the blow and provides Mahjik with some luck.
The chieftain glances at his spear, but obviously realizes that he can't get it without opening himself up to attack. Instead, he steps to the side to flank Mahjik and attacks with his claws.
He stumbles slightly on his own spear, however, and both attacks go wide.

Urza casts Shield and prepared to cross as soon as Lorenz makes it to shore.
Mahjik feels a surge of power as Douena's touch makes his attacks feel right and strikes that would have been difficult before now flow with ease and accuracy. The vegepygmy chieftain has little chance as a series of powerful blows threaten to take him down.
Lorenz finally makes it back to land and gets to his feet, wiping his hands on his pants. "Now what do I do?" He looked at the others hurrying across, his shoulders slumped in misery.
As Lorenz reaches the shore, Urza casts his spell and moves up to the fungus bridge.

Makoa moves across the deck of the ship quickly, going to Douena's aid in a way only he can.
Makoa rushes over and snaps at #3. Unfortunately, the vegepygmy jumps out of the way just in time.
It then turns on Makoa, taking advantage of being higher up and swiping at him with its claws.
Both claws slash across either side of Makoa's face.
#5 continues its assault on Mahjik.

Mahjik then lays into the chieftain, delivering two powerful blows guided by Desna's luck. The chieftain reels from the force, but regains his footing. The chieftain is looking very hurt, but not quite ready to fall yet.

"There's no reason for us to fight," Douena tells the chieftan angrily. "Stop it now, or Mahjik is going to have to pound you!"
The chieftain continues to ignore Douena's words. He lays into Mahjik, a sense of desperation in his blows.
One of the chieftain's claws rips savagely from Mahjik's side and across his chest.

He makes it handily onto the ship .

Lorenz stands and draws his rapier, looking out into the fungus wasteland before him. "All right, I'll stand guard right here and make sure none of them attack you guys from behind!"
For all his bravado, he looks rather small and forlorn standing out there.
In spite of the generously bleeding gashes on his stomach, Mahjik shouts to Douena, pointing next to the chief: "Don't worry about healing me right now - we'll take down the chief together! If we surround him we should be able to drop him, maybe that will discourage the other two to continue fighting!"

Lorenz attempts a show of bravado, and Urza begins making his way across the fungal bridge .

Makoa snaps at the strange funguy again, wanting revenge for the scratches..
Makoa tears a vicious chunk out of #3. It's seriously hurt, but doesn't quite go down. It glances briefly around, but seeing no avenue for escape, lashes at Makoa again.
Both attacks miss.
#5 attacks Mahjik.
#5 nearly trips over his own feet and both attacks go wide.

Douena touches Mahjik to infuse him with Desna's luck , then steps where he directed her and draws her staff . She looks uncomfortable wielding the weapon and calls out, "I think you should know, the only things I've ever whomped with this were rats in my brother-in-law's basement!"
As Douena confers the luck of Desna on Mahjik, both the chieftain and #5 take advantage of her momentary drop of defenses.
They slash across each of her arms, the one from the chieftain going all the way up to her shoulder.
She then transfers a bit of luck to Mahjik, steps back, and readies her quarterstaff. Mahjik then steps round to flank the chieftain. His first blow takes the chieftain in the side of the face, leaving the chieftain spinning. The second comes up under the chieftain's chin, sending him falling backwards onto the deck. He's out.

Aakif steps forward onto the fungus-covered deck of the ship and attacks the nearest pygmy, but unfortunately the slick wood makes his footing uncertain, and his attack fails to land.
Aakif hurries up to the aftcastle and attacks #5. Unfortunately, his attack misses.
On shore, Lorenz stands guard.

Unfortunately, Urza gets his foot tangled and ends up spending the round freeing himself.
