So what you're saying is that if Aakif were more loquacious, we'd already be level 2? :p
Exactly! Keep up the chatter out there, fellows! Plus, we're only 17 posts from catching up with AK's notoriously-prolific Serpent's Skull thread. :)

Lol, I have expected you to catch us for some time. Post rates from three of us have fallen significantly due to university starting up again...

And so the big moment of gaining level 2 has arrived!

Roll hp in this thread. If you don't like the result, you can request a second roll which I will make (also in this thread). However, if you request the second roll, you must take the result of the second roll even if it is lower. I will make rerolls in the order they are requested.

If you are taking a level in a favored class, please remember to note where you're putting your favored bonus. Thanks!

I look forward to seeing the changes forthcoming!

HP 1d8 ⇒ 8

Yay! But it is worrisome. This is my second time in succession that I rolled max on HP (different character, different game). Maybe I'm just a bit superstitious.

Mahjik's level-up is complete (on google site).

Noteworthy:

  • favored class bonus into +1hp
  • monk bonus feat: deflect arrows
  • +2 Kusari Gama faction prestige (+1 for monk level, +1 for deflect arrows)
  • skill spread, now Mahjik has trained Climb, Stealth and Swim (and increased Acrobatics and Perception)

I think that covers it :)

Looks good! The only thing you forgot is to change the level entry to 2! :)

D'oh!

Fixed. Also apparently Mahjik had 87 Perception; I've rounded that down a bit.

You fool! The DM missed it! Nothing would ever have ambushed us again! ;)

DoubleD'oh! - if only it was one day later, then Mahjik's Int would have fully recovered and he'd have realized in time!

Douena's taking her first rogue level. (Yay skill points!) 1d8 ⇒ 3

Skill ranks going in Acrobatics, Bluff, Climb (yes, she now has a positive modifier with all this practice! still can't swim though), Disable Device, Escape Artist, Knowledge: Dungeoneering, Perception, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, & Use Magic Device.

EDIT: Yikes. Bad HP roll, but could be worse. Should I take a chance on the DM's roll?

Shadow Lodge

Makoa is getting spells! I would have been very sad if he had died just before we leveled up.

Changes to come.

1d8 ⇒ 5

DM: Can I switch my Studded Leather to Hide? I'd lose out on 10gp(Studded cost more), but my AC does go up by 1. I want my wolves!

Wolf Druid: Community Domain(We're a pack!) Chosen.

Okay, DM, hit me. Roll higher than a 3!

Wolf Druid: Community Domain(We're a pack!) Chosen.

Skills updated: Survival has 2 ranks now. Intimidate, Perception, and Acrobatics now have ranks.

Hit Points updated.

Special abilities added and spell prepared.

Male Human Traveler / 8

Yay for level 2! Lorenz is just going with another fighter level but it's definitely exciting to get another feat! Once I decide what it's going to be.

Anyway, I'm not updating anything quite yet but I did want to roll for HP.

1d10 ⇒ 1

Ouch! Hit me, DM!

Shadow Lodge

Precise Shot, so even if you're far away, you can attack and not worry about hitting anyone but your target!

Actually, I just came to that same conclusion. :)

Great minds and all that I guess!

Been out all evening, but have time for one quick hp post before bed.

Douena HP: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Lorenz HP: 1d10 ⇒ 5

Aakif's hp:

1d12 ⇒ 9

Getting to work updating the various character sheets now.

Male Human Traveler / 8

That's much better than the 1, though it's a little embarrassing that Douena got more hit points. Thanks, Navior.

Male Human Traveler / 8

I completed my level 2 updates. Added them all to Lorenz's profile. I'll try to add them to the Google sites later if I get the chance.

Spoiler:

HP: +1d10 = 5
Skills: +4 ranks (Fighter +2, Human +1, +1 2nd level Favored Class) - +1 Perform: Oratory; +1 Survival; +1 Climb; +1 Perception
BAB: +1 = +2
Base Fort: +1 = +3
Bonus Feat: Precise Shot
Bravery (+1 bonus to Will saves against fear)
Favored Class Bonus: Skill Rank

I'll allow it this time. No more retroactive equipment changes though. Keep in mind that your speed will decrease and your armour check penalty will increase as well.

You appear to have missed one skill point (probably the bonus from Intelligence). Otherwise, the update looks good!

You seem to have forgotten to include Climb and Sleight of Hand on your profile page! Otherwise, everything looks good.

** spoiler omitted **

Lorenz looks good!

Urza's hit points
1d6 ⇒ 5
Favored Class: +1/2 damage on fire spells

I've got a busy day today, so I won't be able to post again until late this evening. I'll look over the remaining characters' updates at that time.

Could have sworn I copied those over. Oh well, the profile page should be right now. Have to go update the one on the Google site.

Aakif looks good!

Urza should be casting 5 first-level spells per day now, not 4. I think you just forgot to increase it. Otherwise, all is good!

Actually, not only have you missed a point, you've put Perception down twice! So you're actually due 2 more points. :)

DM:
Navior, feel free to play up Aakif's spirit "companions" if you want. I envisioned them as being a cross between just being disturbing visions and mild poltergeists. I'll be tossing them in some on my own, too, of course. I was going to have them show up during the night, but the thread advanced too far.

Zurai:
No problem. I've already got a couple of ideas for them coming up pretty soon. :)

Wow.. completely forgot he had a positive Int score and already had a rank in Perception! Acrobatics now has 2 ranks and Swim has 1 rank.

Swim no longer has double armour check penalty in Pathfinder, so your final Swim bonus is actually +2.

The boards have eaten both of the posts I made today. Very frustrating.

And here I didn't improve my swim skill when we leveled up because I hadn't had an opportunity to use it yet!

You do realize that, since we were on a ship, knowing how to swim would be a good thing, even if you didn't have much experience(rank)?

Well sure. That's why I added a rank to Swim in the first place when creating the character. I just didn't increase it at second level (choosing to put a point in Perception instead) because we hadn't actually done any swimming since landing on Smuggler's Shiv. I just find it amusingly ironic that we went swimming the very next day.

It's not that big of a deal, since if Lorenz takes his armor off he can take ten and succeed with a DC 15 without a problem.

So, since he didn't take off his armor..

Does that mean he's shy around Sasha?

Huh. I haven't had that problem since the last big board shakedown. I've gotten out of the habit of Copying before posting even. Guess I ought to start doing it again.

I haven't had the problem recently either, although the post I just made to the game thread took ages to go through after I hit submit. At any rate, I haven't gotten out of the habit of copying before I post. :)

Hey Navior - did you get the 3rd PDF of Serpent Skull yet? Curious as to whether you like it more than the 2nd

LoreKeeper wrote:

I did! I got it yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet, so I can't comment on how much I like it. :)

If you use Google's Chrome browser, you don't even have to copy your text before posting; it will actually remember what you wrote.

Ha! Chalk up another win for Desna! ;)

Anyone but my own players!:

Very nice scene with the goat landing on the fire Navior, i'll be borrowing that to deal with a dropped player character sometime this week :P.

You've got kind of a passive-agressive thing going with players who drop out, don't you? ;)

Yeah, that is true.. but he's kinda come to expect it now, so it may be more of a distraction.

AK:
Thanks for the kind words! And my commiserations on the loss of another player to your group. I'm glad you've managed to keep it going though!

We found a grappling hook on the Jenivere, but I don't know if anyone is carrying it.
It's only listed under camp supplies on Lorenz's character sheet. Nobody seems to have taken custody of it. However, given the amount of climbing needed on this island, I think it's perfectly reasonable that someone has been bringing it along each day.

Then again, it would be just like Lorenz to leave it behind. ;)

That thought did cross my mind. :)

Navior:
I was wondering if perhaps I could get a description of each NPC in our group? I looked through the first few pages of the in-character thread and didn't find much.

Sure thing, Dragonborn! I won't bother putting it in a spoiler as everyone can possibly get use out of the descriptions.

There are pictures of all five of them up on the website. The pictures match the descriptions for the most part, although Jask is pictured as more muscular than his Strength 9 would suggest. And both he and Sasha apparently strategically tore their clothing before posing for their pictures in order to appear as sexy as possible. :)

I'll link the pictures here.

Aerys Mavato: Aerys is a trim, athletic woman with short dark hair. She has tanned skin and blue eyes. She dresses in tight-fitted leather armour and favours dark clothing and tricorn hats.

Gelik Aberwhinge: Gelik is a spry gnome with blond hair and a neat goatee. He dresses like a noble and always keeps his clothes pristinely clean with the use of prestidigitation spells. On the Jenivere he often had ink-stained fingers, but this hasn't been the case since being stranded on Smuggler's Shiv.

Ishirou: Ishirou is a rugged, Tian man. He has graying hair worn in a ponytail and a scruffy beard. His clothing and armour are well-kept and clean, but obviously of low quality. His katana, however, is of masterwork quality.

Jask Derindi: Jask is a middle-aged Garundi man. His hair is starting to gray and he has watery eyes.

Sasha Nevah: Sasha has red hair and green eyes, and is missing the pinky finger of her left hand. She bears a tattoo between her shoulder blades--the symbol of the Red Mantis.
