Douena touches Mahjik to infuse him with the luck of Desna. Bit of Luck on Mahjik "Try not to kill him too hard, Mahjik," she tells him with a regretful look at the chieftan. "I still think there's a lot of language-barrier-related confusion between us."
Yeah there is a language problem, alrighty. He's trying to tell you, "We're evil and want you to join our evil cult bent on worldwide fungusification!"

*ahem* Just thought I'd point out that AK's game thread is once again breathing down our neck -- only 20 posts behind. Let's keep up the chatter, people! ;)
I like how none of my players are at all worried about this ;).
Oh and Navior- do you think I could get view permissions on your group site? i've been wondering how you're doing your maps and wanted to have a peek :)

Did someone say Alien, Mr. I-Rolled-an-18-to-Save? :P
Now THAT is just cool! (Not that I'm hoping an Alien bust out of Douena or anything. No! *shakes head emphatically*) ;)
(still cool!)
"But I don't want to die horribly," Douena wails. "It's all Lorenz's fault. I would never have eaten it if I hadn't been trying so hard to prove him wro-ong." She begins to cry.
Man, this is just getting worse and worse for poor Lorenz. (I'm starting to feel a little sorry for this guy.)

Sorry for getting quiet again over the weekend. I had been wrestling with Comcast over major packet loss issues that, it turns out, may have actually been my router's fault. Or, at least, when I saw that pings and traceroutes from my router's control panel (rather than from windows command line) were going through without losing packets, I reset the router and modem instead of just the modem and hey, what do you know, now I can actually browse the internet again.
I AM still losing packets, but not enough that it takes an hour and thirty or forty reloads to read a page of text. Anyway, I'll try to get a post through here shortly.
Also, a warning: I'm likely to be scarce this week, as Cataclysm comes out tomorrow. I'll still poke my head in after work, but I likely won't check in as often as I usually do during the week. Come next week I should have gotten over the frenzy, at least mostly.

If it wasn't for the fact she's worried about her life, I'd be disappointed Douena didn't seem to notice Makoa just healed her wounds...
2-1 she says something during their next watch together. Place your bets now!
Yeah, I really wanted her to say something about the wolves, but I just couldn't fit it in with her being hysterical and self-absorbed. (You notice she hasn't said a thing about Mahjik also being in danger of horrible explosive death.)

The d20s love him. The d100s, not so much.
Navior wrote:Keep in mind only #2 is in visual range of most of the party at the moment (only Douena can see #4).Can't Makoa and Urza see him, too? Or does darkvision only work when they're in the dark?
Darkvision is only 60 feet. They're more than 60 ft from both the natives, so it reverts to normal vision.

Ah, okay. Figured there was something I was missing. It's drow that get 120' darkvision. I'm running Second Darkness at present, and I just assumed all the darkvisions were the same.

Hey Navior, this is totally off-topic and none of my business, but my curiousity has gotten the better of me.
What happened to your Age of Worms game? That seems crazy for it to die after 2,000 posts and, according to the OOC and game thread, no real reason. It seems everyone just...stopped.
No worries if it's information you'd rather not share. Just strange to me to notice a game that look like it was moving,(at least IMO), almost as quick as this one.

Alas, it seems to have died off. It went really quickly for the first 1500 posts or so, then slowed down a little. After it hit 2000, it dropped to a snail's pace. There would be bursts of a few posts, then lengthy periods of no posts at all, followed by another brief burst of posts. No one has posted anything in a couple of weeks now, and I think it has probably reached its final end (I'd love to be proven wrong though).
I think the players just got too caught up in other commitments, and something had to slide for them. If you've looked at the OOC thread, you'll see that one player officially dropped out. One of the other players, Nazard (a very good friend of mine), has a newborn child as well as his own long-running pbp "Rise of the Fallen". Several of the other players are players in that pbp and have also become heavily involved in the "Rumble in the Jungle" pbp, which you may have noticed has overtaken this one!
It's a shame, but an unavoidable fact of life. One of my tabletop games ended very suddenly not too long ago as well.
On the plus side, it's left my schedule a little more open. :)

Yeah, I noticed you had the one "big dude" drop out. I've seen that "Rumble in the Jungle" pbp. Didn't realize it had surpassed you guys though!

That it is, sadly. Sorry to hear about your RL game as well. We're barely holding on to the one we got. Those are tough to keep together, especially if you only have a few players as it is.
On the plus side, it's left my schedule a little more open. :)
There you go! You can keep on rockin' with these players! Works out real well for them. (Oh, and apparantly for those annoying lurker people who just won't go away! Man I wish they would stop irritating me and stay off this OOC thread! I try to run a tight ship around here. Sheesh!) :D

Yeah man, those guys are real bastards.
... :)Nah, it's cool to have someone from the outside watching our happenings and commenting on them. Adds a certain dimension to PbP versus live tabletop.

Meh. You're a better man than I. I'm afraid if I ever ran a game and people quit on me, I'd get all Fatal Attraction and stalk them around the boards boiling their bunnies.
Yeah, I would never do anything like that.
Of course, if that were something that I would do, I would never admit to it, and I would just say that I would never do anything like that. Make of that what you will. ;)

So, good a time as any to clarify how message works. I know there's some room for interpretation in the wording. Is it your understanding that the caster and the targets can keep on exchanging whispered messages for the duration of the spell, or is it limited to one sending and one response per target within the duration?

I've always interpreted it as you can continue to send messages for the entire duration. It never even occurred to me that people might interpret it otherwise.

Well, it popped up in the Rules Question forum (no official ruling), so I thought I'd check before using it that way. :)

How are we going to handle watches for the night? I think Urza is the only one who needs 8 hours of sleep to recover spells. Shall the rest of us each take a solo watch?
Also, DM, did Douena stop to commune with Desna in time? The text says if some event prevents a cleric from preparing spells at the proper time, she must do so "as soon as possible" or have to wait until the proper time the next day. I don't know how long we kept traveling after dark fell.

It's been just under an hour since nightfall, so I think that's still within the "window" to be able to regain her spells.
