Nethan Ryon Akerman |
Glad to hear you are feeling good enough or shaken off your bug to return to work. Wow, no home internet for this long is a tragedy and an outrage! I would be going absolutely crazy if I was in your shoes because unfortunately, the Internet is my drug at this time.
Cool, I like leveling, can't wait until we make the next tier too. Although, I have a feeling that is not going to happen until maybe we raise the herald or something that has not been revealed to us yet either from our perception or your fine game mastering.
Elise of the Red Hill |
@Nethan - If I recall correctly, I believe the original recruitment thread mentioned that more tiers would be acquired after level 6 : )
Also - that name. Hmm I'll have to take some time to check up on that! : )
Edit: Uhhmm... Anyone knows/recalls how we did with hp =)? Average or roll or something else?
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
It is in the recruitment thread? That was so long ago ... LOL
I see straight average in my character creation.
Elise of the Red Hill |
I think so xD
Average it is then!
Level-up summary:
Class feature: Improved Uncanny Dodge, extra spell known (Bladed Leash)
Skill points: 1 in linguistics, 1 in perception, 1 in survival and 1 in intimidate
BaB +1
Health +10.5 (1d10 -> 5.5, +1 favoured class, +4 Con)
For feat I was thinking Feral Heart, but re-fluffed without the Tarzan feeling.
In your chest beasts the heart of a wild beast.
Prerequisite: You must have reverted to savage behavior through a traumatic event or extended period in the wilderness, or have the Raised by Beasts background.
Benefit: Whenever you receive a morale bonus on Strength or attack rolls (such as from heroism or the barbarian rage class feature), you receive a +2 bonus on Dexterity- and Strength-based ability and skill checks and a +1 bonus on Reflex saves until the morale bonus effect ends.
Goal: Woo and then marry or otherwise enter into a committed relationship with a person from a civilized culture. This relationship must be forged in love, not bought or coerced.
Completion Benefit: Delay the penalties for the exhausted, fatigued, shaken, and sickened conditions for 1 round after first receiving them. If you already have the condition in question and it is applied again, this feat provides no benefit. Despite ignoring the penalties you do still have the condition. For example, if you become shaken again while benefiting from this feat, you become frightened as normal.
With Bloodrage, I think Elise adequately fulfils the prerequisite : )
However, she has no interest in that "Goal" - would it be possible to swap it for something else (or perhaps ignore it entirely!)?
The first part is really nice - it boosts my weakest save by a little bit - and Initiative is a Dexterity based ability check : )
And perhaps even Intimidate count as a Str-based skill now that we can use our str mod instead of our Cha mod ?
Best of all - with the extra +2 on Str checks Elise is capable of breaking down an iron door (on a 20, but details ... :P) with a simple Str test !
Thoughts =)?
Also - If we aren't using Story feats, Elise could go for something like Arcane Strike or Improved Natural Attack or something instead :)
Edit: I forgot to add - Elise can now also speak an exceptionally broken variant of the Elvish/Eldred language
GM_Radiance |
Just about to leave work but I will paste all the things from the recruitment thread and the summary post of the story thus far into campaign info now. Before I forget!
This isn't the longest I have been without internet, when I first moved into my current place the first appointment they could get us with a technician was 2-3 weeks. So I sat and played through my backlog of offline games during that time, or stayed longer at the office to do emails and stuff.
Edit: Okay they are up.
Hp is in campaign info though you guys figured it out already.
Story feats are fine though I'll read about how I should integrate them later as I've not used them before.
The next Mythic tier will be upon reaching level 6, I'll make sure to time the end of this current arc with that level. So hopefully it'll be suitable.
Edit 2: From now on I'll try to keep the 'story so far' section updated with major points so you guys can check back if you forget anything.
Elise of the Red Hill |
Hmm. It would seem as if we get the chance to enact Al's dire prophecy a bit earlier then he expected ... :P
----
@Story Feats - Mkay :)
Dreyyn |
GM, is it alright if i rebuild Dreyyn? I am not really liking this class. Not that he is weak or anything, but the mechanics make it kind of annoying to play in pbp format. It would be easier to play at a real life table where i could make index cards or something.
the idea would be to keep him generally the same, stat-wise, as much as possible, just an easier to play class or class combo or archetype.
Alþórel |
Level 5? Oh yes...
Third level spells... one of the most powerful spellcasters EVER! Defy gravity - or death! See through space! Launch a ball of fire SO HOT it does as much damage as a catapult! Call the forces of Heaven to fight your battles! Oh the choices...
Elise of the Red Hill |
@Dreyyn - Have you thought about the Slayer?
It gets some Sneak Attack to keep the flanking theme up, as well as full BaB, access to ranger combat feats (ie [improved] two-weapon fighting without a stellar dex) and plenty of skill points as well as their Study Target ability to give some Diplomacy and Sense Motive bonuses. Not so much on the teamwork feat front however .. :)
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
GM Radiance - Can I take this feat with the pre-reqs waved like other feats in M6?
Your training with a mind blade is not hindered by dabbling in other studies.
Prerequisites: Enhanced mind blade
Benefit: Treat your class level as four higher to determine your enhanced mind blade class feature and which blade skills you can select, to a maximum of your character level.
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
5th: (1st Soulknife)(4th Psychic Mage (Wizard)
1. Feat: Fighter's Blade (Pending GM Approval)
2. +1 BAB,
3. +1 to Will Save,
4. +1 1st and 2nd Level Spells
5. +6 Skill points (Autohypnosis (Wis) +1, Perception +1, Sense Motive +1, Knowledge-Dungeoneering +1, Spellcraft +1, Know-Arcana +1)

I agree and I am currently playing one for Zeitgeist!
If you want to stay Psionics, how about an Aegis?
Of course, we are a little light on healing too ... LOL

Since I know people usually hate playing straight healers.
GM_Radiance |
@Dreyyn: Feel free to change things if you aren't enjoying it.
@Nethan: That's fine to select that feat, no different to the other ones I have to increase CL.
@Elise: Okay looking by your feat this will be an interesting one. First I have to ask for whomever you end up going for, do you want the relationship to play on or off stage? Also NPC or PC I guess should be the other question? I'm fine for doing whatever.. it's not like some of my previous players turned one of my games into a dating sim..or.. something. >.>
Elise of the Red Hill |
Haha yeah : P
However!
However, she has no interest in that "Goal" - would it be possible to swap it for something else (or perhaps ignore it entirely!)?
So if it is okay with you, could we refluff the feat (and the goal!) into something with less/no 'dating sim' elements :P
Aka - No Tarzan and Jane, just Elise and crushed skulls and mystical plots, the way it is now : )
And as I mentioned earlier - I like the good mix of stuff from the first half of the feat that I'm okay with skipping the second half entirely if switching goals is off the table. (I mean, it is basically half of Improved Initiative while raging + a handfull of other nice little things!)
For an alternative goal I might have an idea - it won't be solvable anytime soon (or perhaps ever!) but Elise would really like to fight a Dragon (or Linnorm!). Perhaps in many many more mythic tiers :D?
Cheers :)
Dreyyn |
alrighty i'll try to get something together this weekend. on weeknights i get precious little time.
hopefully that doesn't delay us too much though, i dont mind playing a level lower due to the delay on my part
Elise of the Red Hill |
Don't worry Dreyyn, I don't think we'll manage to rush into many combats before then : )
Elise of the Red Hill |
Yey!
Aslong as it is reasonably big and scaly, Elise isn't too picky :P
Dreyyn |
dreyyn is leveled up, reimagined as a slayer.
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
Is the meeting at night or the next day?
Elise of the Red Hill |
Next day : )
Aka - We went home, we took a bath, we played some dice with the Eldred and found out his name
Then we went to sleep and woke up, ate breakfast and planned our actions
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
LOL, I'll be awake in real life soon, I promise.
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
I am going to try to post tonight or tomorrow day at the latest.
GM_Radiance |
One thing I've been thinking about, how would you guys like to try this in flashback mode?
Hear me out on this. Basically instead of doing all the planning right now, we go with what Amelia with busting into the place and then finding an escape route.
However each time we come to a problem that isn't just a combat we flash back to the meeting room where the party discusses the plan and comes up with a solution.
So it's basically like the party has planned the thing out already and we're discussing the relevant bits that come up?
e.g. You find the front door is locked up, though it has a big beam in the way. You flash back to discussing with Daeron where he says Nobles usually baricade their doors. Nethan suggests getting Elise to barge through, Al says she should take a large shield with a spike to drive through the door with. Return to the present, Elise takes out the shield busts down the door. Then we continue. How does that sound? Just to keep the pace rolling!
Dreyyn |
sounds good.
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
Well, the one time I am not ready, you guys are and zoomed ahead rapidly. I lost tract what is going on so I guess I will sit this one out. Come and get Nethan when your done.
Amelia Lightfoot |
There's not much to it. We are breaking into a manor to rescue the Heart of Arazni. So it's all a matter of tactics, which should be easy to jump into. Hope you'll come back!
-Posted with Wayfinder
Alþórel |
Yeah - it's an interesting idea. Hopefully, instead of a month of detailed planning, followed by an assault, we can mix it up.
You should, I think, be able to take each challenge as it comes.
Challenge #1 is the front door!
If you do need to sit out, could always say Nethan is 'conserving resources, as we discussed', then bust out everything at a later challenge!
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
Maybe I am just overloaded with too many things but so far, it is not clear to me at this time. Doesn't mean I will not understand but right now I don't.
GM_Radiance |
Basically we are at the scene of breaking in.
What happens is every time you get to a challenge that isn't immediately obvious to solve, we flash back to the table discussion.
While discussing, the group discusses a what if scenario. (It isn't a what if because we now know it happens, but for the sake of the scenario that's what happens.) Then the group comes up with the solution.
Once they have the solution we return to the present, with the things you need in hand.
Then continue the scene.
Think Ocean's 11 style of revealing how they did a heist. That sort of thing. I want to try it so the scenes stay moving while the planning happens. Gets a bit of dynamic going, or I hope it does.
Dreyyn |
yeah i like the idea, so itll be interesting to see how it pans out
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
I am going to be delayed maybe not until Monday, limited Internet due to noise on the main neighborhood drop causing the Internet to reset continuously or not work at all, and inclement weather. Bot me if necessary.
Elise of the Red Hill |
Worst case scenario, we trip him and leave him to deal with the guards while we run away :P
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
Ok, it looks like my Internet is pretty much back to normal. I am going to start to catch up. Hopefully by tonight but no later than tomorrow night.
Elise of the Red Hill |
(bloodrager :P)
Yes ^^
And I'm most excited to see if I can pick up my next bloodline power so that Elise can BREATH FIRE! : )
Dreyyn |
Yeah, was planning on it. I kinda assumed most of the feats for the parent classes would work, but some individualized ones will be cool.
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
Thank you, I am really sorry for my absence in all of my games, I am going to start catching up this week. My Internet has been giving me a lot of problems, I guess after 10 years, the cabling needed to be replaced and my cable modem is either being purposely sabotaged by the cable company because they want that $7 a month, or my current modem was not really a very good modem. We currently have a loaner cable modem that the tech dropped off Sunday and we are testing it now to verify my cable modem is at fault. If my network remains stable, I will probably purchase an Arris/Motorola Surf Board replacement. In fact, the Cable Company test modem is an Arris.
In addition to the above, we had a heavier snow fall than usual which made repairs slow and making it to work impossible or safe.
On a side note, it is funny to me that we call a cable or broadband modem a modem since technically speaking it is a network bridge. There is no MOdulation and DEModulation taking place but the device is bridging your home network with the broadband company's network, then forwarded off to the Internet by the broadband company.
Nethan Ryon Akerman |
I am a little delayed this week. I am still trying to recover from a bad cable modem, cable network, and last week's snow storm both at home and work. I am hoping to be caught up in all my games by this weekend.
I am sorry for all inconveniences. Tonight I have to work on getting my Wireless DMZ up and running.
