Kyson Tirc
Round 5
Kyson moves into the lower right corner of the room to help with the fight, shouting out encouragement to Seka and Silvio while protecting his face (total defense).
"Silvio, uhm...stab them good! Seka! Do the pirate thing!"
Zstelian Karela
Doing his best to ignore Silvio's useless blustering and Kyson's antic, Zstelian steps closer and motions for Kayle to follow.

Sekathral rolls behind the horror to the north of Silvio, attempting what would be (under normal circumstances) a very ungentlemanly blow indeed.

Khazmia: 11
Sekathral: 8
Zstelian: 23
Kyson: 19
Antagonist: 18
Silvio hacks at the creatures but can't back up his braggadocio as he's distracted by his conversation with Kyson. Still, he leaves an opening for Sekathral, who takes advantage and puts down one of the remaining vine horrors.
Zstelian and Kayle concentrate on the last of the creatures, the falcon getting in several licks, though Zstelian can't connect with his blade. Undeterred by the odds now arrayed against it, it continues to lash out, fist just missing Kayle I think she has mage armor currently, right? Otherwise that does hit for 7 hp as it continues to intone over and over, "Outsiders."

Round 7
Kyson continues his total defense, emulating the great Sea Captain's and Hero to All's sword strokes with his dagger as he watches the fight.
This is great, I'm learning so much of what not to do.
"Keep fighting Silvio! I'm learning so much!"
So that's how you avoid hurting your opponent.
Khazmia Makuhuzdia
Round 7, Init 11, 13 current HP
Khazmia moves adjacent to Zstelian, attacking one of the remaining horrors with her sickle.
desperate attack with sickle: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Zstelian Karela
Zstelian scoops up his tiny friend.
"You okay? They didn't hurt you did they?"
Zstelian Karela
"We shouldn't stay too long but we can probably spare a few minutes", Zstelian explains.
Kyson Tirc
Kyson notices that Silvio has stopped fighting and he, in turn, lowers his dagger as well, eventually sheathing it (with vine sap still on the blade).
Kyson looks around the room, thinking upon the plants.
"Maybe there are answers in the next room, but I'd sure like to rest...*yawn*...soon. All this fighting and praying is tiring me out. Do we want to dress ourselves in vines and plants? Maybe then we won't be outsiders."
Kyson has his wand of CLW for those who want to heal themselves.
Khazmia Makuhuzdia
Khazmia lets out a sigh as the last of the planters drop. "I don't know, Kyson. What's to stop them from making the vines go all squirmy squeezy if they figure it out?" But sleep would definitely be good." She eyes her sickle woefully, surprised she even remembers how to use it.

Let me know if there's anything you want to do before continuing...
A search of the rest of this level of the ship reveals nothing but more seaweed covering everything.
Finally, going downstairs, you arrive in what appears to be the main hold. Rotting chests and barrels are visible below the constant greenery.
To the rear of the ship, a huge section of the hull has rotted away, leaving a stinking pit with walls of writhing green and brown vegetation. The walls writhe with horrible half-formed life, semi-human shapes twisting and spasming from thick tumescent stalks like anthropomorphic fruits ready for harvest. The pit drops away into a noisome, unseen depth.
You're about 20 feet or so from the hole; map coming in the morning.
Sekathral
"Right!"
Sekathral seizes Kyson by the elbow and makes him sit down.
"You'll have to wait until later for dressing-up time. Get yer bleeding scimitar out. After we've scraped all the... Calistria's scarlet nipples, what is that? Well, whatever it is, you're going to scrape it off, then you're going to polish your blade until it gleams like Sarenrae's manifold glories. I bet you've had plenty of polishing practice at the monastery, so it should be a ***king doddle for you"
He glares at the cleric, tapping his foot on the ground and waiting impatiently for him to start.
Kyson Tirc
Kyson sits, a look of confuzzlement and fear in his eyes, as Sekathral begins to yell at him.
I knew it! He's finally going to pirate me away. Admittedly, he's lasted longer than I thought.
Kyson listens more and realizes he just might not be dying this day.
My sword? What's wrong with my sword?
Kyson 'draws' his sword (both the sheathe and sword are one fused piece). As command, he begins the process of extarcting the blade from the stuck position, banging it against the ground, the wall, and his forehead before it is loosened. Now fop sweat and tears have mixed on Kyson's face.
Kyson holds the sword in front of him, looking at the months of built up grime, rust, seawater, and blood on the blade.
"You want me to scrape it? Shouldn't I just get a new one?"
Silvio Callgari Pazzi
Oh how I love Sekathral!
Silvio recoils somewhat from Kyson's stained scimitar. "Put that thing away for now. You can start cleaning when we get back to the boat. Until then Silvio will do the fighting for you. Now, let us push forward."
At the hole
"You stand before Silvio Callgari Pazzi, great sea captain and beloved hero. Show yourself!" the chelaxian calls out in a clear and strong tone.
Khazmia Makuhuzdia
"But Kyson, perhaps having one of the men show you how to polish your sword might not be a terrible thing. After we're done here, of course."
Zstelian Karela
Zstelian stares at the man-like pods in disgust.
”This must be where those monsters are made”, he mutters aloud. ”Could we be close to the heart of this thing?”
Sekathral
Sekathral gazes at Kyson's scimitar, close to tears himself and covering his face with his hands.
"Oh, Gorum's rusty... Gods have mercy, what a sight. Just leave it - you can't help it, I suppose."
He turns away, raising his hands to heaven in despair, then sits down and loads his shiny new pistol, casting the odd anguished glance at the cleric's ruined weapon.
Kyson Tirc
Kyson stands up and re-attaches his sheath and sword to his belt, looking at Sekathral for what all the ruckus was about.
"So...my sword is fine, right? That's what I was telling you. Sheesh."
Kyson looks around, putting the sword still in the sheathe.
If only we had the perfect sword (LINK) for Kyson.
Silvio Callgari Pazzi
"Quit picking on him! He didn't send his favorite friend into this mess, and the rest of us followed along willingly enough. Besides," Khazmia's voice drips of sarcasm, "Isn't it The GREAT SILVIO's job to play with his sword?" Stomping and swearing under her breath, Khazmia stomps out of the room.
No rest for the wicked!
Silvio looks at Khazmia with a uncomprehending expression. "That is what Silvio has been doing. Although it is fighting and fencing. But Silvio understands that with the grace and skill Silvio displays it might be hard for the untrained eye to tell the difference. Such is Silvio's skill with the blade! And Silvio assures you that the enemies makes no such mistake. "If only we had the perfect sword (LINK) for Kyson.
As far as I can tell it's all yours :)
Silvio Callgari Pazzi
A few minutes with the healing wand is what I thought we took. Looking at the map I would want to explore the two rooms remaining on the first floor before we go down. And when we go down, check the double door behind us.
Khazmia Makuhuzdia
I was also thinking a full night's rest. We (or at least some of us) are fatigued and low on arcane spells. If these aren't necessary in the near future, then I guess we can continue. Either way, Khaz will take some charges off the wand please.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Kyson Tirc
It was two combats and, in theory, most of us are fatigued...or so I thought. We didn't sleep last night because we fought all night long and then wandered the seas until we found this boat. However, not insisting that we rest...it was just an instinct based on hating fatigue penalties (if any).
Kyson looks down the hole and resists going first. "We're going down there? Uhm...uh, okay. Maybe...uh...we should come back later? Or burn down the boat first, then come back with the sun at our backs?"
Would someone present the dang scimitar to Kyson?
Zstelian Karela
Zstelian is a bit too busy dealing with the current crisis to notice Silvio's madness or Kyson's blubbering. He might think to try offering it to him after we're done here.
I thought Kyson was going to lesser resto us to remove the fatigue. Was that not the case?
Plus I don't know how feasible resting even is. It seems like the plant monsters can get into anywhere.
Sekathral
Sekathral thinks for a moment, then goes and mutters to Zstelian.
"Oi, didn't you pick up a nice, shiny scimitar earlier? That lad's ***ked his bill and nothing short of a ***king volcanic eruption'll get it clean. Just lend it to him, will you, else he'll be plant food if things get sticky and Sarenrae decides to ignore him. I'll make him wipe it down after"
I think "resting" in this case would be shorthand for "party is strangled in the night by vine horrors while gleeful kobold points, laughs and prepares new post for DM Kill Board thread". I say Lesser Resto or move on and try to cope.
Zstelian Karela
Zstelian unties the magic scimitar he'd stowed from earlier.
"This thing? Give it to him if it'll keep him quiet", the old ranger says as he tosses the blade to the elf.
Kyson Tirc
Kyson looks at the offered blade and slowly extends a hand to accept it.
"A new blade for me? This is because I've done a good job with my last one, huh? See? I knew you were wrong, Seka. Apology accepted," Kyson graciously puts the new sword on his belt and stows his old one.
"Well, I think I'm ready to go down now. Silvio, you ready to go down? Or did you want to shout a challenge and ask them to come to us?"
Thanks, peeps.
Silvio Callgari Pazzi
"Silvio would prefer to fight here. Lots of room for Silvio to use his natural grace and talent. And there is a corner for you to watch the fight", Silvio answers Kyson. "But it would seem that Silvio is not so lucky." Silvio strides boldly towards the edge of the hole and looks down, ready to strike out should any of the pods make a hostile move.
One hit from the healing wand please: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Khazmia Makuhuzdia
Alrighty then, Onward! There are indeed Alien Pod people.
Khaz steadies herself and moves forward behind Silvio.
"If we're to fight this out, then let us be on with it."

Recapping first, since it was a few days ago...
After the discussion in the galley, a search of the rest of that level of the ship reveals nothing but more seaweed covering everything.
Looking down, it appears far deeper than sea level.
The shaft is 25 feet in diameter and the air at the top is stifling hot and foul.
There's no response to Silvio's entreaties.
Don't forget I'll probably be offline for a couple days starting tomorrow.
Kyson Tirc
Kyson looks down in the pit.
"Does someone have rope? Or should we braid one out of the vines nearby?" Kyson asks, looking forward to braiding. "You know, Khaz, sometimes I used to braid our bookmarks back in the monastery." Kyson says with rhapsody. "There were no strangle vines or stone monsters or exploding monkeys or pirates...just books, paper, and ink. Now I'm here in the viniest hot ship in the sea. I would never think this place existed under Sarenrae's sun, but here we are."
Kyson goes quiet as he awaits rope or needs to start braiding.
Khazmia Makuhuzdia
"I do." Khaz barely grumbles as she removes the rope from her haversack. "I'm not sure I want to rely on any rope made out of the vines on this ship. But if you want to, you could knot this one with me."
