Adalwin yells in pain at the surprisingly vicious attack.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

sigh

Because Jasper picked up the acid flash, I don't believe he had the actions available to ready, so he's just in position to help next round. (Didn't want anyone waiting for the wee fellow.)

Oliver's readied action was reliant on the spiders leaving the room into the open. So he doesn't go.

Adalwin, take 1d2 ⇒ 2 points of Strength damage, and make another Fort save on your turn next round.

As Adalwin backs out of the tower, Reekis takes aim at the doorway.

Reekis will ready an action to shoot the first spider coming out. To ease the flow for the DM, I'll roll it now.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 to hit, damage 1d8 ⇒ 7

Anor likewise, fire and reload as the spiders come out.

Eljoy!

Could someone post an action for Eljoy please?

I thought I did post on Thursday. Sorry, I don't know what happened.

Eljoy swears and moves next to the door.

Move to T12. Ready action to swat any spider that reaches the doorway.

Readied Attack:
Ax: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 ... damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Ax, AoO if possible: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 ... damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

No worries man, it happens. I've had posts disappear before.

Ok, so we've got Reekis with a readied action, Eljoy with a readied action, Anor with a readied action. I think Oliver is holding his readied action from last round. Jasper got into a position and got out his acid pot, but didn't have a readied action. He is now up unless he wishes to hold? Eljoy is kind of blocking his line of sight at the moment.

Jasper moves to T9. Can he delay his standard action depending on what happens? I don't think he will have opportunity to attack, so a readied action is not necessarily appropriate...

I think technically you must delay your whole turn or none of it - you can't move then delay your standard action. Those with more knowledge of the rules feel free to correct me if I am wrong. But you can delay your whole turn if you prefer.

The over-sized spiders boil out of the tower room after Adalwin - to be met by Eljoy's axe. ~Chop~, and the first spider is cut in half as it scuttles out of the doorway. ~Chop~ a second time, and the second spider meets the same fate.

~Twang~ goes Reekis' bow string, and the third spider is skewered by an arrow, though it manages to drag itself onwards, trailing dripping ichor. Anor's own arrow misses, failing to finish it off. The wounded spider scuttles back into the shelter of the tower.

You can probably finish it off easily enough - should you choose to, rather than let it escape, we probably don't need to play out the combat, someone can narrate it.

Male Human Fighter / 2

Adalwin staggers past Eljoy in pursuit of the last spider, feeling dizzy from the poison coursing through his veins. He chops at the thing angrily, and though a clumsy blow, slices it in two, scattering legs across the floor.

He turns back to the courtyard, swaying slightly. "Maybe not everything we find in here is worth preserving." He says, a weak smile playing across his face.

Female Human Witch 1 AC 13 HP 8

"You think?! Well, at least no one died. We need to be more careful though."

"Are you ok Adalwin? Spider bites can come back to haunt you."

The poison continues to course through Adalwin's veins. Another Fort save please.

Male Half-elf Oracle 1 (AC: 17 [T: 13 /FF: 14]; HP: 17/17; F+3, R+5, W+6 (+3 more with Taint); Init: -1; Perc: +7 [Low-light vision])

Oliver, hurries to Adalwin's side, and does what he can to try and force the toxins out of the man's injuries.

Heal check to give Adalwin a +4 to his save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Male Human Fighter / 2

"I've felt better..."

fort save: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 4 = 10

Another 1d2 ⇒ 2 point(s) of Strength damage, and make another two Fort saves.

"Hey! Did you see me get that spider? Twanggg! Right up the fangs! Hey Eljoy, did you see?" Reekis is oblivious to Adalwin's venomous torment.

Bad day for Adalwin at the office.

Not sure if I get the additional +4 from Olivers heal check on these ones. Haven't included it at this point

"Yeah, I saw it, Reekis. Nice shot." Eljoy kicks aside a spider's corpse and strides to Adalwin. He drapes one of Adalwin's arms over his shoulder and puts one of his own around the other warrior's back.

"Easy there, Ady. You can't mess with spider venom. Sit down here and rest." The ex-soldier eases the younger man unto a fallen rock.

"Anor, Oliver, can you help him?"

After a few moments the worst of Adalwin's pain appears to subside, but the venom has left him shaky and weak.

Oliver shrugs, and shakes his head, offering "I can mend his wounds, but have nothing to offer in treating the poison. Currently, days of rest and tending are the only means I have against that." As he says this, he sets about his usual routine of administering healing magics where needed.

Adalwin nods to Eljoy in thanks. "I'll be ok, in a moment or two."

The young warrior smiles at Oliver warmly. "It looks like I will be a regular patient of yours. My thanks again. I'll try to go a little longer before needing your services again."

After a few moments Adalwin stands, stretching out his shoulders. "I am ready to continue" he says, though it is clear much of the excitement at the prospect of exploring the ruins has left the young man.

Back to full HP, assume I'm still down the 4 points of strength damage Moth?

Female Human Witch 1 AC 13 HP 8

Don't we have a potion or possible two of lesser restoration? We tried to get Eljoy to drink it but I on't think he ever did.....

"The potion we found in the witches hut may help, I'm still not entirely sure what it is, but it's worth a try."

You did identify a potion of lesser restoration (and failed to identify a second potion). Keep in mind that Reekis may require restoration if he is unable to overcome his disease soon.

Yes, still down 4 strength.

Adalwin shakes his head. "Save it, we may find a greater need for it later."

Female Human Witch 1 AC 13 HP 8

"One, or all of us, may be dead later. Look what simple spiders have done so quickly. We need you as whole as possible. I'd rather have strength before the fight, than have to solve death after it."

Fundamentally, it makes sense to use the healing stuff *before* you need to. First rule of first aid: Don't get into a situation where you need it!

Eljoy stares at Adalwin. "Good soldier. If you die I'll be proud to say I served with you. Gear up, but keep to the rear. I'll take point."

Eljoy returns to his pack and ferrets out a torch that he quickly lights. He stands and grasps his ax. "Let's have a look inside."

Can hold a torch and a light shield at the same time, right? If not Eljoy stows the shield.

Usually I'd support you Nevyn, but Reekis is in a situation where he might need the potion, and it would be his only recourse. Adalwin's unlikely to die of strength drain. We're basically losing a few potential HP of damage each round if we don't restore him now. So in this case, I'd say conserve that resource.

With a light shield, yeah, you can still hold things in your shield hand.

Looking into the tower room, where the spiders were?

100 xp each for defeating the spiders.

I agree, on the Reekis thing, but as he's basically point blank refusing it at this point.... It seems silly to keep resources for "what if" when we have people in trouble now. I'm also fairly certain both potions are lesser restoration, we just don't know that for certain (and even less certain in character).

Yeah, if we make it through this Reekis will heal up, he doesn't have a massive number of hp anyway, and he's not planning of getting into melee unless there is a big beefy fighter-type there to actually take the punishment. My preference as a player would be for Adalwin to have it, since he is a big beefy fighter-type, and Reekis is too dumb to realise that a potion to restore Addy's STR might also be good for his CON.

After worriedly watching the healing of Adalwin, Jasper is satisfied that his friend is going to make it. He moves to peer into the tower with his darkvision, but not before Eljoy is ready to do so, just in case there are more creatures within.

Male Human Fighter / 2

happy to go with the group consensus on the potion; maybe we could take one each and take the gamble on the second one?

Adalwin moves to stand beside Jasper. After a moments hesitation he moves into the room, more cautiously this time, and begins a search.

perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

There do not appear to be any more dangerous creatures within the chamber, although the faint sound of ~cawing~ and light tapping on the high ceiling indicate that razorcrows may be nesting in the roof space. A rickety wooden staircase leads up to a trapdoor in the ceiling.

The crates and barrels in the room are covered with thick sticky spiderwebs and years of dust and grime. Most of them are rotten, and whatever they once contained long gone, but Adalwin and Jasper do find a small box hidden behind several empty crates that contains a shortsword of quite fine craftsmanship, wrapped up in an oilcloth.

"This looks nice!" He casts a spell of detection and studies it. Detect Magic, of course.

That task complete, he looks up the rickety stairs. "They might hold me..."

Oliver balks at Eljoy's treatment of the injured man, "If we can restore with the potion, it should be used for those that need it most. If Reekis continues to suffer from the sickness, he may need it just to fight off the effects just enough to get his body to put up the fight. However, Adalwin may need it now for us to through all this faster to help find the cure for everyone, but that is more subjective. If we only have the one, I would suggest we wait to see if Reekis needs it just to keep standing." He gives a shrug and an apologetic look at Adalwin, trying to ensure he understands that he's not saying he isn't worth it.

As Eljoy lights a torch, Oliver reminds, "There's no need to carry that, I have light on my spear." He emphasizes by recasting it on the tip to refresh the duration of the effect.

The sword does not radiate any magical auras, but it looks to be of masterwork quality.

Don't take this as being a change of mind from above, but since Olly suggested Reekis could need the potion, playing true to Reekis' nature...

"Yeah, like, I could die or something without that potion."

"I'm not going up. The mushrooms won't be growing in the attic or on the roof. They like iron. We're looking for a forge." Eljoy shrugs and moves toward the double doors. "And give that sword to someone who can use it."

Once the party is done in the tower Eljoy will lead the way into hall beyond the double doors.

IS everyone else following Eljoy, or does Jasper want to try the rickety, unstable looking stair?

Nope, I'm with Eljoy. Rickety and unstable can be left until we have no other option.
