Game Master Meowselsworth

For some, prohibition has caused dampened spirits and economic hardship, but for others who are willing to skirt the law in the name of entrepreneurial spirit it has allowed them to amass a great fortune. Tony "The Tiger" Ruggiero is one of the bosses in this city who has become the wealthiest and the most unhinged.

The cops have started an undercover investigation, but Police Chief Leone is in the pocket of another crime head. The chief has given his best crooked undercover cops some money to make sure that the rival crime family is taken out and all the rest in town are sent a message.

Ruggiero caught wind of this, and has narrowed down who these undercover cops might be. Rather than simply kill all those with questionable loyalties, The Tiger likes to play with his prey. So they're going to play a little game...

This is a mafia game. The mechanics of a mafia game is that every cycle, one member of the town (in this case, the criminals) is lynched by a democratic vote. One member of the town is killed by mafia (in this case, the undercover cops) every cycle based on a secret mafia vote. This continues until there is only mafia left, or all the mafia is dead. The special roles are assigned at random with no preference given.

Roles (not finalized and I need to determine proportions in the population, though the Undercover Cop team will be 1/4 of the total population, rounded up):

Criminals: This is the regular 'village' role in this game.

Enforcer: This role is able to protect another criminal from an attack by the undercover cops. The Enforcer cannot protect his or herself.

Scout: This criminal role is able to watch one person every turn. If that person is targeted by another person with a targeting role, the scout receives information on who targeted that individual, but does not receive role information. Targeting includes unsuccessful votes from the undercover cops.

Bloodhound: This criminal role can deduce based on evidence what role another person is at 75% accuracy.

Undercover Cop: This is the regular 'mafia' role in this game.

Dirty Sleuth: This is an Undercover Cop who also possesses the Bloodhound power.

Silencer: This is an Undercover Cop who also is able to target one other person and nullify all of their powers for one night round.

Note that this game will allow for private messages.

Haha this is a fun game that a group of us sometimes play in real life. I wonder how it would work in PbP?

One time we were playing this game and it got down to just us two werwolves and a villager (we were using werewolves), so we had the game won. However, to make it interesting, I had managed to convince the villager and me to lynch the other werewolf (he was shocked) with a 2-1 vote.
My "partner" dies then I eat the villager ^_^ getting a solo victory!
He was not impressed but it was the most memorable game ive had ^_^

I find that it works pretty well over pbp, but with more time to strategize generally the balance slants a bit more towards the town. I try and make sure to consider that when balancing.

Previous such games I have run include:

Who Goes There?

Meowselsworth's Mafia

Prisoner Deathmatch Extravaganza

Hello again!

Yay!

Looking forward to it!!

Suave new look to go with my new bartending job!

pinvendor here...

The soft spoken Geoffrey returns!

Count me in. Just need to come up with an alias.

Dot.

But who am I this time...?

I shall claim the position of doorman.

Though a little slow I am usually able to work through most problems if given time to mull them over. As the primary doorman I know all of the regulars and most of the semi-regulars quite well. It is important to me to be able to greet people by name and inquire about that which is important to them. I want all customers to know they are appreciated.

I do not want to appear to question "The Tiger" but knowing the people in this room I believe there was a mistake, or he was fed misinformation. I am quite certain at the end of this we shall be proven loyal.
After all, this gin-joint and all the regulars are the bee's knees.

That's 9 players, which should be enough to play an alright game! I need to figure out a good time to start round 0.

And Me! That makes 10, of course it'd be good to drum up some more. :)

Sczarni

Still fine tuning my background. Here is my character in the meantime.

Cant wait! XD

Come on people. These games are so much fun. Don't hesitate. The more players means the more fun!

I'd like to start Round 0 next Monday evening (though I don't know what time I'll be starting it since I'll be out of province for awhile this week for Thanksgiving), the Round 0 end will follow the same 6pm MST/0:00:00 GMT as in "Who Goes There?".

If you have any friends who would like to join before them, feel free to give them an invite! More the merrier. However many I get, we'll start the game on Monday.

I'd like to take the role of Harold the wannabe poet. (This is mr meowgi btw, changed my name). I believe I shine through my speak in rhyme, although I receive a lot of sass because I just look like a jackass.

Round 0 has started! Please post in Gameplay before the beginning of next week to mark your participation!

I want to be sure you know that I'm not being unfriendly OOC, Harold. Kitty's job is to sell drinks, and somebody with no money is just interfering with her work. B-girls are an old-timey, speakeasy classic to pry more money out of the customers. So please don't take it personally and don't give up on RP!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Pinvendor, Treppa,

I figure since we're all on the floor, we probably know each other pretty well. And it looks like Harold's meager wallet will be our common victim.

Meows, can we have a discussion thread?

Woops! Serving one discussion thread right up!

I know :) responding how my character would in that situation though, I'm having a blast, just Harold isn't :p

Too late to get in on this?

Nope, not too late at all! With Round 0 happening presently, if you can have a character together and a post in Gameplay together before Monday at 6pm MST, you can join in!

Alas up and running. This is the heartbroken thief Jeremy.
