Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

... welcome, little one... seek me out... perhaps once again the howl of armies will be heard on the wind... I can guide you...

A faint whisper. Did you really hear that, or was it just the wind?

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

"I shall seek you Flame of Saerenrae!"

Aurichalcum starts looking through the room for any.

"Push again! look for a button! a catch? a lever? this thing surely moves!" Aurichalcum implores his fellows.

Talahel hears Able excited cry when he spots the hints of a hidden door. Urged on by Auri's urging, he carefully searches the statue, the walls and the floor for some sort of mechanism that will trigger the statue to move. Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

Able is overcome by the moment, and has sat to record the goings-on immediately, tome open in his lap, his maddened pen-scrabbling lit by the wayfinder bouncing on his chest. "What a find, what a wonderful find," he says quietly to himself, shaking his head at his own luck, to be a part of something so momentous.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Talahel, you examine the statue and come to the conclusion that a good shove will move it... just one delivered with a bit more force than a small fellow like Ablenaffener can muster!

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Aurichalcum stares at Talahel expectantly...

After examining the statue carefully, Talahel determines that pressure applied at the right point will move the statue out of the way. "Be on the alert in case something is lurking on the other side."

Talahel places both hands on the statue and pushes.

strength 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 edited to correct modifier

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Talahel heaves and strains and is about to give up when with a grinding noise the statue finally pivots, and as it does so a hidden door in the north wall opens, revealing a flight of stairs that leads down into darkness...

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Auri falls in behind Talahel, nudging him ahead...!

Sorry, I've been traveling for a few days.

Talahel peers into the darkness. "Its hard for me to see. Able, can you cast light on my sword? I'll lead the way down."

If Able has light, Talahel will go down the stairs with his long sword out in front of him leading the way. If not, Auri may have to do down with his darkvision

Talahel begins going down the stairs, longsword drawn and glowing. He keeps an eye out for anything dangerous or clues about the purpose of this secret area. Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

"I have not yet been blessed with that, however I can do this..."

Aurichalcum produces a small Wayfinder from his bandolier that begins emitting a warm glow.

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

No Light - sorry :/ I think that means I have to turn my adventuring card.

"Ah, brother Pathfinder, as the ancient Osirian adage goes, minds of similar magnitude create thoughts of similar origin," Able chirps happily as he pulls out his wayfinder. He stays towards the back as the three head into the the darkness.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

The stairs lead down into the monastery's undercrypt, a series of ten-foot-wide rough-hewn passages dug in a double-cross formation. The main thoroughfare runs north to south, with two similar eastwest passages crossing the main hall about fifty feet apart. An eerie silence pervades the cool subterranean funerary network, which must contain the bodies of scores — if not hundreds — of honoured worshipers of Sarenrae in shallow niches carved into the walls of the east-west passages. Many of these skeletal remains have been roughly tossed from their niches, and countless bones and skulls line the floor.

Do you want to explore a bit, or would you prefer to return to the surface?

Best to leave the dead undisturbed. I'm willing to go back up, but if the rest of you want to explore, I move forward.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

'The Spirit of this place has spoken with me, I ask you to indulge me in seeking the Spirit to obtain its wisdom and ask it what troubles it, a fellow light of Saerenrae must be helped along the path.'

Auri looks at his big friends expectantly.

Talahel here's Auri express his calling, and begins to move forward in the dim light cast by the wayfinders. His long sword out, looking for trouble he carefully inspects the niches for anything of interest.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

In one, you find a pile of skeletons with terrible broken bones. A rather nice-looking mace is still clutched in the bony grip of one of the skeletons.

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

"Intriuging," Able says wonderingly, as he reaches to take the mace from the skeleton's fingers.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Backin a few,am in hospital.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Stay safe and well, Auri... prayers, thoughts, hugs.

Ablenaffener, you manage to disentangle the mace with ease, although it's a rather heavy and clumsy weapon in your hands.

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

Stay optimistic and we'll see you once you're well again!

Able holds the mace in both hands, examining it from every angle, searching for distinctive markings.

...though with no relevant abilities, it will be a plain Int check to understand any of them. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

The mace looks very well-crafted, and it has come to no harm despite an apparently long sojourn in the crypt.

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

Able gives the mace a few inexperienced swings about, intently watching its arc. "Fine workmanship, a superior balance, additional decorative details - a sterling example of Saranaen ceremonial maces."

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

"more evidence her holy light draws us nearer..."

Auri Detects Magic and Reads Magic on the mace...

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Oh goodie, are you better?

Yup, the mace is magical... +1.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Auri nudges his companions ahead into the darkness.

"Perhaps that is part of a set of ministration tools? I must research the symbolism of the mace in Saerenraes texts later"

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

Able strides forward, the mace clutched in both hands.

Glad you're feeling better, Shifty!

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Want to explore a bit more down here, or return to the surface?

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Onwards to the depths! :P

In deference to Auri's god, Talahel takes one more look over the crypt. Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

If he finds nothing, he suggests that the group returns to the surface. If something more of value is discovered, he stops and looks at it more closely.

LOL - Talahel appears to be growing weary of the search, with a roll like above.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Moving on, a rather enthusiastic pseudodragon in the lead, you find a corpse of a man in yellowing leather armour — clearly not a member of the monastic community — lying at the end of a passage. The armour looks well-made, and he's armed with a dagger.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

"Tomb robber?"

"See Talahel, we must press on to find whatbecame of this place. Able, scribe every detail, it is important!"

Continue to Detect Magic on the new found items

I got better, turns out my gallbladder decided to break up with me, and has now moved out

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

*TING!" - the dagger is magical.

The armour just looks to be well-made, probably of masterwork quality.

Ouch! Dearly beloved gets gallstones... oddly, the main trigger is Pizza Hut pizza. He can eat anyone else's pizza, just not ones from the Hut. As their ice cream disagrees with my daughter, and I just don't like their food much, we don't go there any more!

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

"We must press on, who knows what else may have been left here, tools to be empoyed to further Saerenraes interests!"

Talahel is curious what attacked the doomed grave robber. He examines the body to determine in what manner the man met his demise.

Heal 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

After examining the body, Talahel resumes assisting Auri and Able in the search of the crypt. Perception1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Talahel, he appears to have had his skull bashed in for him.

Moving onwards, you find a side passage. Buried under a jumble of bones at the end of this passage is a small teak box emblazoned with the holy symbol of Sarenrae (and for once, no bodies at all).

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Auri continues to whistle and chirp away, his small clawed 'arms' tracing sigils in the air...

Detect magic

"A box, tools of Her will!?"

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Stop bouncing, Auri!!!!

Yes, the box radiates magic. Strongly.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Unable to control his impulsive Draconic urges for 'mystery, magic, and the unknown', he lurches forward quickly to the box and tries to open it.

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

Able, at Auri's request, is carefully chronicling the tomb in this book, pen flying across the paper. "Truly, Aurichalcum, your Mistress of Flame has blessed you with this, the beginnings of your own treasure trove, here in her temple!" He begins a fanciful drawing of Auri as a full-grown dragon on top of a massive pile of treasure.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Sorry, Auri, claws are not quite agile enough to open the box.

But it's a very nice drawing in Able's notebook :)

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Aurichalcum pushes, nudges, and generally molests the box.

"Whoever designed this clearly didn't consider the needs of Dragons, clearly an amateur!...some help here please? Oh and thats a great drawing, the likeness is uncanny!"

"Let me take a look at that, please."

Talahel first examines the box carefully to make sure it is not a trap, once he is comfortable it is safe, he tries to open it.

Perception for traps: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Disable device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Male Gnome Sorceror 3 (Fey Bloodline)

Able unconciously takes a step back as Talahel opens the box, even while his neck cranes to see what the box holds.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

Aurichalcum reflexively steps forward, enthusiastically craning his head to stickybeak into the box.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Talahel, you check the box over carefully, occasionally having to move a pseudodragon snout out of the way. Everything seems to be in order, and it is closed with a simple clasp, so you open it.

Inside there is a wooden holy symbol of Sarenrae suspended on a silver chain (to be worn as a necklace) and a finely-crafted ornate gold brooch.

And before anyone asks, the brooch is radiating magic. Strongly.

Talahel holds up the holy symbol, and admires it for a moment. Then he hands it off to Aurichalcum, "I believe you may be quite interested in this."

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

His eyes go wide in disbelief... his small clawed hand reaches forward and examines the holy symbol. Uncharacteristicaly silent.

Detect Magic + Spellcraft 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, Any ideas?

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

The holy symbol is nicely-carved, but unremarkable on the magical front.

M Pseudodragon - 15pt - Oracle (flame) 4

"The brooch radiates magic, but the greatest magic here is that She is truly watching us...judging me"

Any ideas on the Brooch?
