Nivel Klist |

Captain, keep the boat close unless we say otherwise. We'll go check this out. However, its your choice whether or not you want to welcome another aboard.
Nivel will also go to the ship and will approach the woman. Monsters? What monsters? How long ago was this?

Merkava |

(pre ship showing up..) "You sound just like my dad when you say that..."
After ship shows up..
Merkava arms himself with his new long spear, sees everyone paying attention to the new boat, mumbles "When the skeletons bang their shields, be sure to look around..."
He heads to the rail AWAY from the boat and examines the seas in that direction (somewhere amidships).

Don Saint -GM |

The fisher's boat has no lower deck below it's main deck. Its upper deck part on the right side is one feet lower than the main deck of the Black Mist. There are several fishing nets and about 20 small dead fish lying around the deck.
With the help of Ewem, Captain Walren makes sure that the two ships stay next to each other.
The woman backs away slightly as Nivel moves closer to her. She replies hesitantly: ".. a few hours ago.. they have claws and heads of like fish with teeth.." She looks around quickly all the time as if to check what everybody is doing. She shows no signs of injury and you can't see any clear traces of blood on her.
Kyra can confirm that the men have died no longer than 10 hours ago.
Merkava spots nothing worth mentioning on the other side of the boat.
Note to Kyra and Morg: With his last comment about skeletons, Merkava was referring to the last battle of Crypt of the Everflame, when several skeletons were drawing attention to themselves so that the boss skeleton could move up from behind and attack by surprise :)

Nivel Klist |

Are you sure none of them are hiding on board? How did you manage to escape unharmed? Nivel will motion to Kyra. Perhaps you could take a look at her and make sure she's OK?
Nivel will watch the woman as she continues to answer his questions.

Kyra Kross |

Kyra approaches the woman with caution, walking towards with her had ups showing that she is unarmed.
"Everything is ok. We are here to help. You must of been here with your dead friends for a long time. You might be hungry. Would you like to eat something?"
Kyra continues to walk in her direction.
"My friends here are here to fight off any sea monsters if they come back. Please let me check on you. I just want to make sure you are healthy."

The woman replies to Nivel: "I was sitting here while my brothers were sorting out fish.. then suddenly I hear screaming behind me and I see hideous creatures climbing on the boat. I was so scared, I hid myself under a fishing net until I heared nothing anymore.. I just want to get out of here!"
As Kyra starts talking and moving closer, she starts running to jump onto the Black Mist and only replies: "I am fine! Just let me get out of here!"
She shows emotions of unrest but you can't see any signs that she has been crying. Nivel thinks the woman is probably honest.
The chaos main deck seems to indicate there has been a battle, but you don't see any evidence that some kind of monstrous creatures have been there or are still hiding somewhere.

Nivel Klist |

Kyra, help her before she gets herself killed running around like that. Merk, try to see she is safe aboard our ship, if the captain doesn't mind having her onboard. Fir, would you mind helping me search this craft? It seems to me something is spooking our stranded friend.
Nivel will take the stairs down and start to take a look around.

Kyra Kross |

Kyra follows the woman and tries to approach her.
"Please allow me to help you. The boys can go do their thing. I just want to make sure you are ok." If allowed, Kyra will put her hand on the girl's forehead to take her temperature, and maybe take her pulse.
While performing her nurse duties, Kyra was ask some of her basic question."My name is Kyra Kross. I am a humble servant of Sarenrae. If you'd like I can perform a ceremonial ritual for the departed. We can lay them to rest....if you like."
"What were your brother's names? I am an only child and don't know what it's like to have a brother or sister."
"Where do you and your brother hail from?"

Hidden under a fishing net you find two backpacks. They contain ordinary cloths, rations for 2 days, 20 gp and a small bottle labelled as healing potion (cure light wounds).
The woman jumps on the Black Mist, runs a few steps and then notices Morg keeping his crossbow pointed at her. Her eyes widen and she stops. When Kyra arrives, she says: "Can you ask your friend to point his weapon elsewhere."
Kyra can touch her to take her temperature but she doesn't feel good about any further physical contact and moves a step away from the cleric. Her temperature seems normal.
To questions about her brothers, she answers after a moment of silence: "Ken.. and Don.. We.. are from Tamran".
As Kyra mentions performing the ritual, she says, without much emotion: "That is very kind of you... There is however one other thing. My brothers and I were looking for a treasure hidden on a nearby island. I am sure it would be their greatest joy if they would know that I am still able to find it." She looks at Kyra rather timid, hoping for a reply.
Thus far, the Captain and Ewem have been mostly paying attention to both ships and haven't expressed any opinion about the guest.
Merkava still doesn't notice anything special in the water at his side of the boat.
A fishing net will function as a normal net in combat, except that it will be an improvised weapon (attack -4).

Nivel Klist |

Nivel will pocket the healing potion and the 20gp and will have the wizard check it out when time permits. Hope I don't forget. He'll then bring the backpacks over to his ship. He won't hide the fact that he took the items in question, he'll do it in open view of the woman.
We'll be able to take you to Tamran, that is our destination. I'm afraid we have other urgent business, we won't be able to help you with this island of treasure at the moment. Perhaps, once we finish our own business and you still need some help we could come look you up in town?
Does their boat seem seaworthy? I don't know anything about boats and I don't know who among us could captain it. I also do not know if we can tow it but it seems a shame to just leave it out here. How far out from Tamran are we?

Nivel Klist |

Have we asked about a Sense Motive check on what she has said? You can roll it in secret, GMDS.

Firyin |

Firyin waits for the women to be facing away, then waves down Morg and his crossbow. Be an impressive feat for this woman to be a threat against us all. Firyin lumbers over with his large frame, giving her a warm smile. "You know if we help you find it we'll probably want some of it."

Kyra Kross |

Kyra waves the others away. "Boys, let's give the young lady some space. She just lost 2 of her brothers."
"Can someone please give me a blanket?" If given to her, she will place the blanket around the girls back and shoulders.
"And what is your name or should we continue to call you girl?" Kyra says jokingly trying to get a smile from the girl.
From previous heal rolls, can Kyra tell if she is in shock?

Griswald Maurin |

Griswald whose been alert for potential dangers comes back to the group. "Hmph, we have no time for treasure hunts. What do we look like, a bunch of pirates?" he pauses for a second. "Keeping you safe is what is important."

Merkava |

I examine the nets. "Ugh.. Too cumbersome for a fighting net. Well, I'll just stow them here just in case"
I put them in an organized pile at S13.
"If these are in the way, let me know and I'll take them to the hold."
I notice Morg and his crossbow.
I move between Morg and the girl, but turn my back on Morg. Over my shoulder I talk to him, "Morg, seems like you've been through a lot. Me, Gris, Fyrin, and Nivel have been too. We fight for each other, and we've all nearly died for each other. You helped us on the docks, and that makes you part of us now."
I make a show of thumping the butt of my spear down solidly and setting my shoulders square on the girl.
"I'm here for you. Right now. Right here. But, it might help us all if you'd just lower the crossbow. I'm not saying unload it. I'm not saying put it away. I'm just asking you to maybe point it at the deck. If she's not what she seems, she'll have to come through me first. You'll have time to bring it to bear."

Don Saint -GM |

When Morg asks about the missing backpack, the woman seems hesitant to reply and she also doesn't react to Nivel taking out the items. As others mix in with the discussion, she suddenly becomes like overwelmed and starts to cry. Between her tears she only replies to Firyin: "You can have as much as you want..". Finally she backs away to stand against the staircase and keeps her hands before her face, occasionaly looking at the group between her fingers. She quietly replies to Kyra: "My name is Kyndra". She then stops crying.
I rolled a sense motive for Morg and Kyra, because they had been studying the woman for a while.
Although suspicious, Morg doesn't find any clear sign in the woman's behavior that would confirm his doubts about her. She didn't reply to his question about the backpack, so he can of course continue to press this matter.
Kyra could sense the woman is nervous but not in shock. She has the impression that this nervosity is a normal result of the events the woman refers to.
When he sees Merkava pull the fishing nets on deck, Captain Walren gives a sign to Ewem as if asking him to help with bringing them on board. The nets are gathered around one of the masts.
Seeing that everybody has returned to the Black Mist, Captain Walren asks: "Are we good to continue?"
After hearing the Captain speak, Kyndra quickly moves up to him and asks: "Please sir, it would mean so much to me if you could help me find this treasure. You can have as much from it as you want!" Captain Walren however sighs and says: "I am sorry, miss, but I have a shipment to deliver. You are free to stay on board until we arrive in Tamran."
Kyndra now stands close to the ship's rail, looking at the group, as if checking for any further reactions, and sometimes looking at the sea.
The fisher's boat doesn't look damaged at all. You are still about 5 days away from Tamran.

Nivel Klist |

Is there an anchor on the other boat? If so, we could drop anchor and perhaps the captain can bring the woman back for it if they want. I really have no idea what to do with this ship.
Captain, she might be in shock. Talking about treasure and all that while her two friends lie dead. Speaking of the dead, should we throw the bodies overboard, a funeral at sea or something? Kyra, does that sound right?

Kyra Kross |

"We, in the order of Sarenrae, do not dump the deceased in the ocean. It goes against the edicts of the Dawnflower. I can perform the ceremonial rites of the funeral pyre if the young lady wishes me to do it but we would have to make landfall and perform it at dawn."

Nivel Klist |

Well I don't think we can bring the bodies onto this boat and risk falling ill from having them aboard. Guess they'll just have to stay there. Drop the anchor and hopefully it'll be here when someone can retrieve it. Unless somebody has a better idea? Captain? Any ideas about how to handle the deceased?
I'm not sure what the right thing to do is but there is no way I'm carrying two corpses for 6 days out on the open sea. For all I know we'll end up sick from them.

Don Saint -GM |

Captain Walren thinks for a moment and says: "Well it depends what the lady wants.. If she wants to keep the ashes, you can try burning the bodies and put the remains in a container, but I don't want that happening on my boat. If you know how to prevent the fire from spreading, you can try to do that on her boat, if she wants."
Kyndra seems to think for a moment and then says: "How about we take my boat and go to the treasure island and bury my brothers there? I am not so good with sailing so I will need help. It's just one day from here. After that we can go to Tamran."

Nivel Klist |

Nivel thinks for a moment. Well, maybe that is the best idea overall. We can leave the ship at this island, bury the dead, then move on. You can then return with a couple of sailors from Tamran and find your treasure.
Nivel turns to the rest of the group. What do you think? Otherwise we'll just have to leave the boat and the bodies as is.

Nivel Klist |

Seeing that the captain refuses to follow us to the treasure island, Well that's settled. We are not sailors. We leave the ship here and we'll bring you to Tamran with us. From there you can do what you must.

Don Saint -GM |

The Black Mist continues on its way to Tamran, leaving the fisher's boat and its unfortunate crew behind.
Kyndra doesn't argue anymore. She gives one last look at the boat and then sits down in a corner against the railing behind the Captain.
She doesn't take any initiative to talk to someone.
Is there anything you still want to do before nightfall? Will you keep the same guard schedule as before?

Nivel Klist |

Same guard schedule I'd think. I do not have anything to do, I'm done with that woman.

Merkava |

Merkava, secretly annoyed that there wasn't a fight and bummed Morg didn't acknowledge his awesome gesture of friendship, simply turns in for the night.
"I'm there if you need me! Just shout.. Or scream.. I'd prefer if you shouted before you screamed.."

Don Saint -GM |

Kyndra wants to stay main deck and about one hour into the first watch, she starts to sing in a language you don't recognize.
If questioned about this, she says that it's a song to keep monsters far away from the boat. She says she has some magical talents for that.
She sometimes pauses and then after about half an hour starts again. It looks like she intends to keep this up for the whole night.
Other than that, nothing happens. Ewem stays main deck the whole night with Firyin. Nivel, Morg and Griswald take turn to assist with the watch.
If you want to prevent her from singing, or do something else during the night, you may still do that!

Don Saint -GM |

The next day passes without special events.
Kyndra stays on the main deck. She takes some rest and walks around. She asks for some food but otherwise doesn't start any conversation.
If you want to do something during the day or change night watch schedule, please say so now.

Nivel Klist |

Nivel keeps to the same routine. Occasionally he'll watch the woman but makes no effort to interact with her short of any simple requests she may have for food, drink, etc.
I wonder what happened on that boat? What killed those men? And what is with this obsession over some treasure despite all that happened to her? It is not my concern, we have our own mysteries to solve.

Firyin |

We're a bunch of men! Manly men! The schedule works, so don't fix it! Haha
Firyin likes the routine established, although when he has some downtime he tries to talk to Kyndra a little. He asks her a little about where she's from, but if she's not keen on talking he talks about himself a bit.

Kyra Kross |

Kyra shares some of her iron rations with Kyndra and starts a little conversation. "I'll respect that you wish to stay quiet. You're probably feeling a little scared that you're on a boat with strange men but out of all of us you should open up to me. I won't bite....I promise." The young cleric offers a smile and a wink.
