Background:

The daughter of baker, Kyra was raise making breads and pastries. As a child she would always ask questions of the outside world. She was always the curious type, looking for answers and staring into the clouds. Her mind would wonder and was quite the daydreamer. She grew up into a beautiful young lady even though she was very plain. She would help her parents at the bakery every day. But all that ended when a bunch of thugs tried to rob her parents. She watched her parents get murdered by 2 men and they burned down the bakery.

She had a stash of coins buried under a loose floor board in her home. She immediately went to the weapons smith to get a dagger or a long sword. Revenge was in her heart. Instead she stared at a scimitar, looking at her reflection through the cold steel. She stared long and hard and then she heard, "If they do not accept redemption then the blade will strike them down." At that moment she bought the scimitar and started to look for the 2 thugs.

She found the 2 thugs in a bad part of town. She approached them and told them that she was the daughter of the bakers, the ones that they robbed and murdered. She offered them redemption, the means to give themselves up and admit their wrongs. The 2 men laughed out loud. Both, drunken with ale, tried to make a move towards the pretty Kyra. They thought they were going to have a good time. While being pushed around Kyra unsheathed her new scimitar and slashed both men. Both suffered mortal wounds and they bleed to death in the street.

She ran home in the cover of night and stayed there for many days. She looked into the sword again and saw her reflection. "You offered them redemption. They did not take it. There are others who refuse my grace. You will be my Sword. Go out and gain strength."

Background, later:

Kyra wakes up in sweat, eyes wide open. At times she has had these dreams but none so vivid as this last one. The death of three heros. It felt like she was actually there but not participating. A glimse into the future or the present? The young woman gets dressed and immediately heads to Father Prasst, who has been a so called spiritual father to her after the deaths of her parents.

At the temple of Erastil Kyra distrupts the cleric from his morning prayers. "Father Prasst, I had a most vivid dream. Lying in a pool of blood....four adventurers. I...". Father Prasst holds up his hands and stops her abruptly. The Father further explains. "It seems that the Dawnflower has shown you your path to follow. Five adventurers recently returned from the Crypt with the Everflame. One will not be continuing with the rest. The dwarven cleric has chosen not to continue, choosing to remain in Kessan. It looks like your god wishes you to avert a possible future and continue with their quest. Prepare yourself and pray. The Dawnflower will reveal more to you as time passes. I will send for them to make introductions." Kyra nods and apologizes for the interruption.
