Whiskey, Crayfish, thank you both for looking at it.

I always list my armor and weapon proficiencies in my feat list, as I find it helps me for organizational purposes. Just a little thing for my thought process.

For Martial Tradition I did choose Pikeman, which gives Shield Training, Spear Training, the Lancer base sphere, and my choice of either Dual-wielding or Shield spheres (I chose Shield). I've cleaned that up and listed it under Special Qualities (SQ).

For my feats, Power Attack is my Level 1 feat, and Combat Reflexes is my Human bonus feat. I traded out my Conscript bonus feat as part of the two combat specializations I chose, so I think those are good.

I actually do have only the one trait. Methodical Mind gives a bonus to three knowledge skills, so I listed the three knowledge skills it gives a bonus to next to the Trait. I probably don't need it since I wrote them down in the Trait description below, but, again, it's one of those organizational things that helps me.

Like in SoP with its 2 free magic talents. But for whatever reason (editing, I guess), it didn't make it to the Additional Rules doc.

I believe that it was scrapped down when Martial Traditions were introduced. At least I remember a thread telling so, though I couldn't tell which one.

That actually ended up getting deleted--it was replaced with the Martial Traditions thing, since they all grant multiple talents.

Still working here, it's just so much to go over and think about all at once. So many options, it's hard to figure out where to start... I'm going back and forth between a blacksmith and a sentinel concept right now. I might build both since you're allowing multiple submissions.

Makes sense. I don't follow the playtest thread, so that's nice to know.

@Crayfish: You didn't mark Equipment: Armor Training and Gladiator Training from your tradition, remember that Gladiator Training gives you an additional small bonus.

Now see, I found the training stuff once, but somehow, I keep missing the document where I found it. I'll have to go searching for it, but it's probably something so small I didn't think it worth mentioning. Oh, but when that heavy, spiked armor with all the body parts stuck to it comes available, you better believe I can wear that stuff. Swinging, swinging, swinging them chains.

You're welcome Morvan. Always willing to point out things that are wrong, but they're actually right.

Edit: I found them again. The Trainings are on the Second Sphere document. I'll add the +1 to CMB stuff if I'm chosen, just slap it on in to an alias.

GM, how do you feel about the potential for custom Martial Traditions, following the guidelines set in the playtest material? I have an idea for a tradition/character/concept in mind, but none of the base traditions on offer quite work for it.

Custom martial traditions are fine, so long as you follow the general rule of 2 Equipment/2 Something Else.

Alright, Loup Blanc's submission is mechanically finished in this profile! He's waking up with no knowledge of his name, taking a moniker from the white wolf furs that adorn his armor, and relying on vague memories of being a warrior-for-hire who maintained a sense of justice. I'd be unsurprised if there are issues here, so if anyone wants to take a look, that'd be wonderful! I included the custom Martial Tradition in its own spoiler, so if there are issues there let me know. And of course overall what you think!

An Impossible Foe:
Ha! Let me assure you of one thing, first, lad--there's no such thing. Sure, it might seem like quite a challenge when you size 'em up, but impossible? Doubtful. Everything has a weakness, lad. You just have to find it. Now, as far as a truly tough foe, one that seems like it can't be felled?

You know what the two strongest weapons I have are? No, not the sword, nor the pick, though I admit that spike does a bang-up job when it's needed. Hope and resolve, lad. Those are my best assets, apart from the rugged good looks, of course. Y'see, when I'm up there in front, wavin' about this great hunk o' steel, my job isn't just to beat the piss out of whoever's in the way. It's to keep their attention, and hold the line. It doesn't matter so much if I put them down, because I have allies at my back to do that as well. I'm there to get in their face and keep them busy long enough for everyone else to do their job.

So, an enemy I can't defeat? I do what I do every time: stand up in front and give them something to think about. And I'll do it with a smile on my face.

Bumping this up so it doesn't get buried.

I'll submit a Blacksmith this weekend! Seems like a good team player, and I want to look into the eyes of elder terrors, and be able to break their claws.

Edit: I'll maybe make two submission for the sake of team variety.
How much background can we have? A few memories or sensations?

You may remember extremely broad details like your name and place of birth but anything that would clue you into what you've been doing for the past few years is beyond you.

I present you, Marius Salvitto - a man you call when someone's face need some serious bashing against a table. Or a wall. Or a hammer... You get the idea.

I decided to go conscript without any specializations. Cause not enough talents and feats, need more! And because I don't really have any idea what to do with armiger, and don't really like any of the conscript specializations and their price.

@Loup Blanc - Kudos for an idea to name the tradition in German.

Color me interested. I'll get an application in in a couple of days.

Bump so this doesn't get buried.

Derz here. I think I've got everything done. Never done SoM and only done one SoP character, so I might have messed some stuff up.

Bumping this up to keep it visible.

Dot. I'm going to need to read over SoM before I officially decide to try a character.

So far I like the Brute sphere but I don't know which class would be good for it!

The Brute Sphere should work well with any full BAB class that can use the maneuvers properly. Barbarians can get some good mileage out of it with Strength Surge, for sure.

Just so ya know, I'm building a Striker centered around Wrestling and either Boxing or Open Hand spheres...

I should have it up later tonight. If that's alright with you.

Bump so this doesn't get buried. With recruitment set to end soon, I don't want to lose track of the thread.

I'll post a warning up when we get to the 24 hours remaining mark, and of course will send confirmation PM's to the lucky four who get in.

Dark Archive

Here is your final warning: 24 hours from now, at 11:59 PM CST, I will no longer be accepting applications.

Please forgive this last minute submission. I'm a very recent immigrant from rpol.net and still learning my way around this site, but I've been going over the SoP playtest for a while and I hope you'll all like this concept. Damn, last minute is right. Good job sliding that one in, lol.

Recruitment is done! I'll look over the applications again over the next few days and decide who gets in. I have company over the weekend so you can probably expect results Monday/Tuesday.

Er, yeah. Sorry. I spent way too long going through pictures before writing down everything that was floating in my head, and then was worried I'd missed something critical and kept looking over it til my alarm went off. I'll copy/paste the talent descriptions into this "alias's" profile to save anyone having to hunt them down through all the different playtest pages. Have a good weekend all!

Ah shoot, I did miss something stupid. Facepalm. Would it be acceptable to switch the talent spent on the Barrage sphere to Expert Reloading (via a custom martial tradition, detailed in the profile), and the heavy crossbows to light? Else Simo fires twice and then spends two rounds reloading.

Named for Simo Hayha?

The very same - him and S.T. Joshi. What about Raymond?

Sure, no problem. There's actually going to be a major overhaul on the system on Monday (because of course this would happen) so I'll probably give the selected players a chance to edit their characters one more time with that in mind before we start for real.

I'm just writing this because I realized that my character (Rakheet) was posted once and then I didn't interact much, so I was afraid I'd fly under the radar. He's in this alias.

Dark Archive

After much deliberation, the following characters have been selected:

Feimramdem (Crayfish Hora)
The White Wolf (Loup Blanc)
Marius Salvitto (Madcaster)
Rakheet (Sapiens)

Thanks to everyone who applied, there were some great submissions and I had a hard time narrowing it down to a final four.

Whoo, thanks for the opportunity, GM! Best wishes to everyone who's been part of this process.

"Oh, yes, Rakheet will come with you, he can do many useful things, Rakheet is skilled and swift with his hands."
Big and burly, just what I need to hide behind. Let them think I'm weak and daft.

Lovely to be chosen!

Great! I'll make an alias tomorrow.

Congrats to the chosen. Enjoy!

All right, here's Marius. As soon as I'll review relevant changes to SoM, I'll update him.
