Damion Bogtouched |
Damion offers a hand to help Victor stand, as he stands up. His eyes narrow to follow Victor's lips. The mucus covered man nods to the bard. He taps his holy symbol of Pharasma.
Damion looks to Harunum, and holds up three fingers. He then holds up a single finger. Damion points at his own holy symbol, then at his throat, and then pulls out some archon hair out of his mouth. He spits again.
He then points to the holy symbol, and puts his thumb against Victor's wet patch. Then he points at his holy symbol one more time. Then shakes his head. He produces a small bit of frost on his finger tip, and Gestures for 5 more times.
He looks around at Ayana. Damion frustrated just pulls out a note and a pen. He hands the note to the bard.
In Common
I have 1 spell left of that kind. I cast one on the eidolon already, and I have an Inflict spell for our undead friend. I'm not sure if I should save it for something bad. My spells are more geared towards inflicting misfortune on our foes.
I have a few support cantrips, but mostly they are aimed at preventing an unfortunate visit with the lady of bones. I think Ayana may have more that can help your eidolon. Thought, I am uncertain. This place is a lot more hazardous than intended. If we should be much more careful in the future.
Haranum Al-Evess |
"This will take a moment."
He turns to Alana, "You'll have to act quickly. If Esdras dies, the Archon will not be able to return for a day. Then I'll hear about it for weeks afterward."
Haranum starts the summoning ritual for the Eidolon. A minute later the motionless body is in front of the group.
Victor Von Schwarzerwald |
The bard looks up at Damion with a rakish grin "Forgive me, friend! I didn't take you for vone who is qvite so erudite! I think I vill simply be more cautious going forvard, feel free to save your magicks for our foes."
The moment the eidolon appears, Victor tries to staunch the bleeding so his compatriots can focus on casting their magics

While Haraman weighs the options of resummoning Esdras, a cursory look of the room turns up the following:
The altars still contain their silver altar services, worth 100 gp altogether, as well as two silver holy symbols of Nethys. In addition, an aged but intact scroll rests atop each altar.
The door from the stairway is the only way in or out you see.
Damion Bogtouched |
Damion sees the scrolls. He walks over and very carefully unfurls them. He gazes upon the scrolls contents and attempts to identify what the scrolls have inscribed on them.

Esdras, the Lightning of Heaven |
Esdras's eyes open and the Archon sits up. The canine eyes narrow, and the Archon nods once at Ayana.
The Archon is still bleeding.
Esdras has 2/6 hit points
Victor Von Schwarzerwald |
Victor attempts to decipher the other scroll while he waits for his compatriots to decide what they're doing.

Victor rolls up both scrolls and tucks them into his drum strap. "Shall ve keep going up? It seems there is nothing else to explore here. Since I don't need light, I can scout ahead if ve'd like."
Quogup |
"Remember that javelin trap that was below us? Do you think something like that could be here, too?" Quogup carefully searches the exit.

K'Coro |
K'Coro moves to stand next to the grippli, peering closely at the uncovered door.
"K'Coro thinks he should invest some time in learning how to pick locks. This could open up many new places for him to travel to. Tell K'Coro, friend Quogup, do you think it is trapped?"
Esdras, the Lightning of Heaven |
Esdras walks past the Nagaji and Grippli and open the secret door.
Esdras, the Lightning of Heaven |
Esdras impatiently looks at the Grippli.
Damion Bogtouched |
Damion fails to grasp what is going on. Damion points at the shatter scroll and points at the secret door. And shrugs. Damion then rummages through his packs for a clean towel. He wipes away mucus that is forming on his brow.
Then Damion get's a shocking idea, and begins searching the area for a possible switch to open the secret door.
Perception check: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (12) - 4 = 8 I am assuming the ability to hear audible clicks, gears, or other shifting masses behind the wall is important. I likely auto fail because of that.

"Uhh... Yeah, so I found this door, so I kinda feel like my part in this is done, right? Is that how this works? It seems like that's how this should work...". Quogup makes a show of checking his pockets and pack for something. "I also forgot to buy that skeleton key I was thinking about getting, so yeah... Esdras is big and strong though! He can just beat on it for a while and I'm sure it'll open! I mean, I think we've caused enough destruction already, so its not like being quiet and careful is really that important anymore... right?".
"Besides, I'm sure Esdras will say really neat things like 'The sword will whirl against their cities, and will demolish their gates and consume them' or something like that while doing it, too!"
Esdras, the Lightning of Heaven |
The Archon looks surprised that this group does not include anyone with the ability to pick locks. They clearly have few ethics, so being unable to get through a locked door is... unexpected from this lot.
Esdras begins to proselytize to the stone door.
They chased the Sarkorisian from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted in fear and became like water.

K'Coro |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
K'Coro strides impatiently around the room, seeming almost fearful to keep his feet still. Occasionally he mumbles to himself, not quite loud enough for anyone to hear clearly over the sound of Esdras beating on the door.
Damion Bogtouched |
Damion sits on the floor, and breathes deeply. Taking the moment to ponder what exactly could be behind such a sturdy door.
He rests his head against the cool stone. Takes out a water skin and drinks from it.
He gestures to offer the beverage to any whom would want some.
Haranum Al-Evess |
Each time Esdras hits the door, Haranum flinches.
He seems relived at Daimon's offer, and sits down and takes the waterskin. He seems unfazed by the mucus on the water-skin, and politely takes a sip.
"These dungeons always bother me. Esdras seems to thrive here though. Except the almost dead thing."
Victor Von Schwarzerwald |
Victor paces impatiently while he waits for the door to do SOMETHING. ANYTHING.
<3 you Jerry! :D
Damion Bogtouched |
Damion nods. And smiles at Haranum. He gestures to the stone floor, and writes on it.
In Common
It's nice to take a break occasionally. The dangers we face are perilous, but it seems we are in good company. Perhaps, we could roll some dice while we wait? Perhaps wager some coin or a spoil or two?
Haranum Al-Evess |
Haranum smiles and says, "Why not? Been awhile since I played dice."
Damion Bogtouched |
Damion nods and reaches into a pouch and pulls a pair bone Six siders out. He offers Haranum the first roll. He draws a small wager board.
The wagers are:
Each player rolls the pair. The higher roll wins. Observers may bet on the winning result.
Winning roll determines the payout for any possible bets.
Roll — Odds
3 — 1:12
4 — 1:10
5 — 1:9
6 — 1:8
7 — 1:7
8 — 1:5
9 — 1:3
10, 11, 12 — 1:2
Damion waves his companions over.
Damion rolls bone dice: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
Haranum Al-Evess |
Haranum takes the dice in his hand, shakes his fist and whispers something over the dice.
1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (1) = 4
He nods in congratulations.
“How much do I owe you?”
Damion Bogtouched |
He smiles, and points down at the chart, and points to others in the group.
He scrawls under...
Damion picks up the dice... and gestures to Haranum.
Victor Von Schwarzerwald |
Victor wanders over by Damion, and asks "Vait. Are you looking for multiple rollers, or multiple betters?" making sure his lips can be easily read by the deaf oracle.
Damion Bogtouched |
Holds up two fingers to Victor.
Points and himself an haranum then the dice. Points to each person in the groupt hat doesn't have dice, and points at the bidding chart.
He smiles. and scrawls
The idea is that your betting which of us would roll higher. It's a simple game for many people. Only one I know... I hear bards know many things, do you know a better game for a few rollers
Damion chuckles to himself. What further explorers will think of his fresh scrawlings all over the flor.
GM Brodie073 |
After a few minutes, and more than a bit of noise and vibration occasionally through the earthquake ravaged fortress, Esdras applies their special version of martial sermons to the door. It it not fully destroyed and can be opened and closed. The way is now available to the intrepid explorers.
Whether you choose to go through the door or into the stairway, please arrange yourselves in a marching order.
K'Coro |
Not to be outdone by the summoned creature, K'Coro moves forward as soon as he notices the door is opened. He falls into line behind the large bipedal canine, his hands tightly gripping the greatsword.
GM Brodie073 |
The door is open, and marching order is in place, no take-backs & it's been long enough to change it!
A living, moving fabric seems to cover the ceiling of this half-collapsed chamber, which stretches northwest into darkness. The pungent smell of ammonia rises from the droppings that litter the floor.
Esdras, the Lightning of Heaven |
Esdras looks at the party, expecting actions from them.
He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.”
Haranum Al-Evess |
"Indeed. This does not seem to be normal for a room. What in the nine hells is that?"

Let's see what Vic knows
Victor moves forward and takes a peek and this... thing?
Know(Nature): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
GM Brodie073 |
Victor peers around Esdras, trying to get a look at the rest of the room. However, his angle cannot see the ceiling of the northern part of the room very well. He does note the splattered floor.
Either move closer to have a better viewing angle into the northern part of the room or attempt a Knowledge Arcana check about the covering on the floor from where you are but with a slighty higher DC.
Victor Von Schwarzerwald |
Reminder that darkness won't affect Victor
Victor scans the room, attempting to identify the guano on the floor.
Check to identify a fireball material component: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
GM Brodie073 |
Victor notes the massive splattering of what is generally known as guano, more specifically, bat excrement, due to his keen study of arcane spell components. Based on the amount present, he surmises the clumped mass occupying the ceiling area of the northern part of the room to be enough bats to constitute a swarm. They have not been disturbed... yet.
You ID'd the bat poop, combined with the sufficient nature check and legit know there is a swarm hanging out in there. You have one question about bat swarms.
Victor Von Schwarzerwald |
Are they affected by mind-affecting effects? Basically, can Victor fascinate them with a bard song? It affects multiple creatures! :D
GM Brodie073 |
Unlike our not-so-friendly spider downstairs, these guys don't count as vermin but as animals for mind affecting effects. But, as a swarm, they are not affected by mind affecting effects because while they do possess animal intelligence, a bat swarm doesn't have a hive mind connecting them together. But that is common knowledge as swarm traits so won't count as your question.
