Yod, DM, I am not sure who is stronger naturally. I have a str bonus of +4. Whichever of us is stronger will be the front man.
Yod lets put a little butt into this door. My str roll is 17+4=21. So we have to kill these freaks twice. I am wondering if Freakos healing powers are on a time delay or if we just have to kill him extra the fist time? Any thoughts Cha?

We were told that you could only kill a quasit with high quality weapons such as Cold Steel weapons, ie my scimitar and Yod's new daggers, which he apparently didn't use. Still waiting for the answer on that one. Maybe this a quasit?

Cha tuk |

I guess it didn't become invisible or change shapes either...I dunno. Are you boys going to try and knock down that door or keep walking. I'm thinking they barricaded it from the other side to keep the boogey monsters out. My vote is that's it going to be loud. Let's just mark it and come back to it.

DM Luke |

As those words hang on Cha's lips, the Dwarf's butt makes impact with the door. The frame shrieks its protest but gives way, revealing a passage beyond. A thick mantle of dust settles on the dwarf's head and beard.
The walls of the passage are the same as those in the room, and the floor is stone tile. The passage bends to the left after 10'.

Cha tuk |

I'll be out of pocket until Tuesday night. You're welcome to continue play without me. In the event of an encounter with another unrecognizable creature, I'll continue to use my scimitar as my primary weapon...for all others I'll stick with the sickle. In the event Sari gets shoots a magic missle at my manhood, feel free to cast flame on her. Have a good weekend.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Yod
You peek around the corner. The hall is coated in dust and crisscrossed by cobwebs. It continues about 30', then turns to the left.
New map on the way.

Yod Akarn |

For Dm
Cha's disappearing post said that he would be out of touch for the weekend, his exact words were "out of pocket" ??? He said to play him if we needed to. Use his scimitar for any strange creatures and
the sickle for anything else, also to reply with cast flame if any of Sari's missles were aimed at his private parts.

DM Luke |

Spoiler for Yod
Yeah, that's what I meant. The other left. Should be no problem with Cha. Maybe he deleted his post? I do recall him saying something about a fishing trip to Horsheshoe beach, though.
Around the corner, the hallway continues straight and terminates in a distant door. Before the door, there is a passage and what looks like a chamber opening off the hall to the right.
New map headed to you.
Yod disappears around the corner.

DM Luke |

Spoilertastic! Overflowing with spoilericiousness.
spoiler for Yod
Gotcha. You advance to the corner and look down a hall that stretches the length of your vision, straight through the bedrock of the town. At its murky end it seems to veer to the right. (The normal one this time).
The tunnel passage you're advancing down definitely runs into another chamber, then continues on to the door at its end. Where the wall ends on the left side looks like natural tunnel again, like the ones you followed from the Glassworks.
spoiler for Eberk
Each time Yod disappears around a corner, you wait a few moments, then follow around behind him, staying about 15' back. The good old stone passages remind you of home, though they're clearing not Dwarven make at all.
You can make an untrained knowledge(dungeoneering) check if you want. That amounts to an intelligence check, but you do have a + 2.
spoiler for Chris, Sari
Half orc's gone, now Eberk ducks around the corner. Ishah is sniffing the corner of the chamber and is clearly displeased.
spoiler for Ishah
AAAGH. These tunnels have sand fleas.
New map on the way.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Eberk
I never saw your post.
There are lines etched subtly across the masonry walls that form very large geometric patterns. The style is strongly reminiscent of ancient Thassilon, the culture responsible for most of the megalithic ruins that dot Varisia.
Keeping you behind Yod, I have advanced you to the long passage he was just examining. Yod moves farther down the current passage towards the room and the door ahead.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Yod
As you approach the room, you see that it is an irregularly shaped chamber with four exits: the tunnel you are in, the door straight ahead, a passage on the right side of the room, and a rough natural tunnel to the left.
What really draws your attention, however, is the life-sized statue standing in the middle of the room. Colors don't come through well with darkvision, but you believe it is made of some odd-colored marble.
The statue depicts a strikingly beautiful, yet at the same time monstrously enraged human woman. Her stony expression is twisted with fury. The woman wears flowing robes, and her long hair is held back from her face by an intricate headdress of hooks and blades. Cradled in her left arm is a large book, the face of which is inscribed with a seven-pointed star, Her right hand holds a glittering metal and ivory ranseur.
super-secret spoiler for Yod
Realization washes over you like a bucket of cold water dumped over your head, and a grisly memory rushes back to you unbidden. The star motif carved into the face of the book was branded on your parents' shoulders when they were killed. You've never seen that design before or since.

Sari |

I HATE BEING BEHIND A SPOILER...IT MESSES WITH MY CHARISMA!!!!
spoiler for Cha and DM

DM Luke |

spoiler for Yod
I'm just mixing your background in with the current plot a little bit. What you know about them is what you've stated you know, plus anything else you'd like to share. Only now you get to mix in the fact that your parents were marked either before or after their deaths with the symbol that you've now found on this statue.
Surely you didn't think I'd leave the hook alone?

DM Luke |

spoiler for Yod
The architecture of the room is the same as the finished passages you've been moving through. The floor is clear but dusty. The statue seems to be just that. The dress is somewhat archaic, and the headress is positively byzantine.
The ranseur seems real. Certainly the blade is made of metal, not the marble of the rest of the work. The haft of the weapon is ancient wood inlaid with ivory. It seems very well-made and in decent condition. You might be able to slip the weapon from the statue-woman's hands.
If you're searching something specific, you should roll search and let me know where you're searching. Spotting is the general activity. Search is for a very careful and thorough (and slow) examination of something specific.
If we ever get a chance to convert to the Pathfinder ruleset they're working on, some of the confusing and arbitrary distinctions between Listen, Spot and Search will go away.

Yod Akarn |

For DM
I had though that they were killed by some other house in opposition to the house that my parents worked for and that the killers would know that I was still out there somewhere, my older brothers body was not found either so he may still be alive also. However if this was the act of some cult or religoius faction then it might not have been anyone from town. Someone might still have helped the killers though.
I never recieved any such markings.
I was just using the spot to look for traps or creatures as I moved into the room. I'll gather the others to see if they know anything about the statue or book or markings or detect any magical effects,
search roll 11+1=12 I would like to have anyone who can aid me in searching.

Yod Akarn |

For DM
I was just using the spot to keep an eye out for traps and creatures as I moved into the room.
I'll gather the group and search, Roll 12+1=13 I will ask anyone who can to aid me searching. Maybe someone can tell something about the statue or the other things in here, I'm not removing or touching anything till we all check it out

DM Luke |

Okay, all. Yod returns to you out of the dark. He's found a room that he wants your help searching before going on. He leads you around a corner, past a side passage and into a room described under his spoiler addressed to ALL.
As you enter the room and light is cast on the statue, you realize that it is made of red marble.

DM Luke |

New map on the way. Welcome back, green druid!
Read through the posts you're allowed to see, then read Yod's last spoiler addressed to ALL, and I think you'll be caught up. I think the only orc in the house is Yod, but there is a statue.

Eberk Ungart |

Yellow dwarf needs sustenance
Anyway, here is what I know: In case some of you may have missed it with the dim light. There are lines etched subtly across the masonry walls that form very large geometric patterns. The style is strongly reminiscent of ancient Thassilon, the culture responsible for most of the megalithic ruins that dot Varisia.
Any of that mean anything to anyone else in our party? I do not have any other knowledge to make heads or tails out of that. Maybe it is relavent to the statue? Does anyone have knowledge religon or history?

Yod Akarn |

Oh I thought this room would be bigger.
Is that stairs with arrows? Or something else?
After everyone decides wheather they are able to help me search or give any info or opinion on who or what the statue is all about. I ask if we should go back and check the other long tunnel or the one with the arrows or head deeper into the rough tunnels.

Eberk Ungart |

My attempt to help Yod search was actually less then Sari's. (2) It may be better if we just stand back and let the pros do their thing. Perhaps a tune is in order Sari?
In the dark and dusty dungeon is a dwarf that's mighty dirty.
There's a sorcerer that saucey and a Orc that's kinda ornery.
There's a druid that is dreary and his sidekicks kinda hairy.
But were all just havin fun in the dark and dusty dungeon.

DM Luke |

Ah yes, did I fail to mention the other long passage that I first revealed to you with the new map. That's fine game mastery brought to you by moi...
Eberk and Yod describe the eastern passage they see to those not blessed with darkvision. There are a series of short flights of steps going up. There's a door at the end.
The arrows on the map point down the steps.
Yellow sorceress needs food badly!

Cha tuk |

You guys are just rolling with the posting tonight. I think I'm caught up now. My search skill is pretty non-existant.
"This is the same style architecture of the 'devastating weapon' up on the surface that most people refer to as the lighthouse. Brodert Quink gave Yod and I a brief history lesson. He wants any information on any of it that we come across. Unless I miss my guess, we're below the light..., uh weapon thing."

Yod Akarn |

I think we should hold off on the stairway till we look around down here a little more. This statue of "A monstrously enraged human woman" can we tell anything from her? She's mad because she has the book with the answer and no one is listening or was she spouting runes from the book to destroy the world and someone stopped her? Any thoughts from anyone. We might have to go get old Brodert and show it to him, maybe he knows what the star might be about. Is red marble special for something? Is it local or form somewhere else? I start asking alot of questions when there is nothing to kill.

DM Luke |

The statue stands mute in the face of your many questions. Sari thinks her dress is fine, but also tres passe. The headress screams dominatrix, but the expression on her face is not exactly 'come hither'.
There's no writing, or anything more to suggest why the statue stands here or who the woman is supposed to be.

Yod Akarn |

For Cha
So the room with the statue does not appear to have been disturbed?
Any thing thats been roaming around down here has stayed away from it?
BTW there is a nice pic a Eberk on pg 165 of the PHB

DM Luke |

The murk of the room is really hindering your search efforts apparently.
Yod - The level of oil in the lamp indicates you might be a little low in your estimate of time.
spoiler for Yod
Make a Bluff check for hiding your discovery. I'll make the opposing rolls.
And the dwarf on p 165 is a cleric with a warhammer. Did you mean his steely eyes?
Cha, you do not need to roll. The effect is that you can see magical auras in a cone in front of you for up to a minute. You move that cone by turning your head, so you effectively sweep the whole room with your vision. If you detect something, staring at it longer can tell you more details about the aura. Unfortunately, nothing in the room is magical. That'll be 1 spell point.
The ranseur looks like a real weapon though. And the grip is definitely ivory, so it's probably worth money.

DM Luke |

Yod disappears into the darkness again, this time back the way you came and to the left, down the long passage. I will assume that y'all are following in the same manner as before. This places Eberk within range of the lamp at (8,14).
spoiler for Yod
The passage bends to the right just ahead and widens into another chamber. This one is also irregularly shaped and is about 25' x 20'. Along the left hand wall there is a dais with a block of black marble at the top, against the wall. Again, dust lies heavy in these passages, though here and there you spot little scuffs in the dust that might be tracks.
At the far end of the room, on the southeast wall is a recessed set of double doors that are closed.

Cha tuk |

"Nothing magical here. That weapon may be worth money, but I vote let's leave it alone until we're done exploring. Been here a long time, another couple of days won't hurt. I'd really like to know where the door at the top of the stairs comes out, but I don't want to create any more options for us than we already have so I suggest we work on the open passages first."

DM Luke |

for Yod - that last comment should have been spoilered as well.
Didn't notice the name of the dwarf. That is a particularly gay looking Dwarf.
Um. You discovered a connection between a statue in a tunnel under Sandpoint and your parents' killers back in Riddleport. This would be a rather shocking revelation I would think, and you just tried (probably succesfully) to hide it from the other party members. I will oppose your roll with a sense motive on their behalf and handle it from there.
You have crossed the room to the double doors. They are stone, and are covered with runes you do not recognize. The black marble block on the dais has similar styled runes carved into its face.

DM Luke |

for Yod
Understood. You had a good bluff roll and you can reveal whatever you want, whenever you want.
Now what about the room? Yod probably shouldn't underestimate the impatience of his friends...

Sari |

"Now you see him, now you don't.....my friends, it seems we have an errant rogue. Shall we stand here admiring the marble statue, or strike out? Next time someone sees Yod, we should probably explain the strong silent type is quite difficult to back up in a fight. Does anyone know where he's got to now?"
A heads up would be good when you go wandering off...do you want us to wait, follow, what?

Yod Akarn |

Well about 10 posts back I did say that I was going to move to 18,14 and look around the corner if that helps anyone.
I go back and say that I have found an irregularly shaped room about 25' x 20'. Along the left hand wall there is a dais with a block of black marble at the top, against the wall. dust lies heavy in these passages, though here and there I spot little scuffs in the dust that might be tracks. I have crossed the room to the double doors. They are stone, and are covered with runes I do not recognize. The black marble block on the dais has similar styled runes carved into its face.
It would be nice to fine someone who can read these runes before we throw open a door that is clearly marked "Room will explode if door is opened"
Also I've seen that seven-pointed star that was on the cover of the book the statue was holding. I'll tell you about it when we get a break from searching this place.
