The assumption is that you shift the sickle momentarily to cast the spell and enchant the stones. I think you are only allowed to throw (or sling) one stone per attack. My guess would be you dump them in your pocket and throw them at your leisure. Since reloading a shortbow is considered a free action (so much so that you can attack multiple times in a round), I'd rule the same for the stones. You cannot attack with the sickle on the same round that you enchant or throw a stone, but then you wouldn't be able to do that anyway since all those actions are standard.

DM Luke |

Chris, one other thing. This didn't matter because you missed the touch attack roll, but anytime you roll a natural 1 on D20 in an attempt to attack, you have fumbled. You must make a DC 15 Reflex Save, or provoke Attacks of Opportunity from those that threaten you as if you'd cast a spell.
This is a house rule of mine, so don't try to find it in the SRD. At least it's not as punative as the old Rolemaster fumble rules.
"You have fumbled your flail, shattering your own knee-cap. You're at -40 until healed and are stunned and unable to parry."

So, with all that being said, on my next round, I could shift the sickle, cast the spell and cast one stone all in a standard action, which would still leave me any free and move actions? Also, any penalty for using a ranged weapon on a target I'm engaged in melee with? Lastly, I still have to roll to hit with the stone just like I roll to hit with the sickle...not automatic like with a magic missle?

Sorry man - I did not see this until just now (obviously).
Casting the spell is your standard action for the round, so you have either a move action left, or a move-equivalent action and a 5' step that never provokes an AoO. Throwing the stone would be another standard action, so you won't be able to do that until next round.
Using a ranged weapon provokes an attack of opportunity from foes that threaten you. Otherwise, no penalty that I know of. In fact, there's a feat called Point Blank Shot that gives you a +1 to hit a target within 30' with a ranged attack.
Your attack roll is essentially a ranged touch attack. Your bonus is BAB + Dex. The range increment is 20'. The damage is d6 + 1. You only have to hit your target's touch AC.

Got it. I couldn't see the advantage to using the spell if I had to hit my opponent's AC. That's a tough roll. The Improved Trip gets me around that by only having to hit his Touch AC.

Hey chuck. check Riddleport out fresh off the Paizo presses. The blurb below on Riddleport is all that exists so far. Since the city is part of your character background, I thought you might be interested in it.
Riddleport: Varisia's northernmost port, the infamous city of Riddleport is renowned as a haven for scoundrels, outcasts, and worse. Cutthroats fill its harbor and dockside brothels, with Riddleport's officers of the law being just another gang of thieves (and hardly the most powerful one at that). Yet even in such a den of inequity and vice, scholars and historians abound, attempting to decipher the runes of the great arch known as the Cyphergate, which spans the mouth of the harbor and looms over each vessel that passes into the city. Although any progress on the inscription has been kept quiet, recent excavation hints that the massive arch might actually be just one segment of a ring that extends into the cliffs surrounding the port.

Everyone survived the festival - though it was a close run thing for Missy. We ate a ton of Italian food then sprinted across the park to be the last loaded on Rock-n-Rollercoaster. Melissa failed her Fortitude save!
We played Savage Tide back at the hotel room both nights. Pam told me there were great pictures waiting for me when I get home - so I know we got them.
Hopefully we'll get back on track tonight - though I'm still pretty wacked from this weekend. I guess I'm getting old...

Chris C. |

Admit it! You were up all night waiting for updates to Luke's Runelords Discussion Thread!!!
Been sitting here since last week some time...
Gotta nuther question. I was checking out feats. It says under Shield Proficiency that Druids have it as a bonus feat. Can't really determine what it does for me, but the Shield Bash feat with a spike shield doesn't sound too bad.

I am momentarily startled by the sight of Eberk sauntering and singing. I crosses my mind the next time we are drinking to ask him if he does any show tune renditions, maybe he'll sing some hits from the old girl bands, complete with all the hand motions and hip thrusts. Does he take requests?

So I screwed up the way I ran Ishah's turn, but it turned out the same. From here out, on Ishah's turn, I'll describe her actions consistent with her surroundings and the last successful command she received. So on the last turn I shouldn't have waited on your input, Chris, but just should have described her action based on what she saw, the last command she received (heel), and her previous intention of joining the fight she could hear.
Handle Animal checks are Cha's free action (with your Animal Companion). Push attempts are move-equivalent actions - on Cha's turn.
No harm, no foul. We're just going to ignore the HA attempt, since by the time it is your turn, she will have already acted and you may decide on a different command.
Carry on...Yod is up.

That was excellent. I think they knew they were in a shootout from the beginning, and played that way. Tebow is the most valuable player to his team that I have ever seen. Ever. Anywhere.
When I think what that team might have been had we retained a couple underclassmen on defense from last year...I think we might have repeated. With the year going the way it has - we still might.
Bring on them stinkin hairy dawgs!
Then we topped it off with Sangria and the Savage Tide. I even hit chuck's Monk/Druid a couple of times with Vine Horror attacks. Now they will face the Mother of All!

Chris C. |

Auburn vs. LSU...what was LSU thinking with that touchdown pass? Might have shown a little more hurry up? They almost lost the game on it.
Tebow's amazing. It looks highschool ball when he takes off with it. 11 people on the field and no one person capable of bringing him down. I was getting pretty tired of that commentator talking about his shoulder being hurt. He should have been worried about the other fellow.

Yeah. And we finally got some sacks from the D boys. I think we finished with 6 or 7? The D is definitely of a bend-don't-break quality right now. Not the dictators of last year - yet.
Any chance you're going to Georgia? Right now I'm thinking of coming up early Saturday cause I need to see my mom, then going to the game over in Jax, then dropping Bill off and heading back down here that night. I think I might get back by 2 am. Long day - but manageable.

Me, Pam and the kids did the rainbow river today with the kayaks. And we did Wheedon island (mangrove preserve in Tampa Bay) with Melissa, Chuck, the boys, and her mom on Sunday. Both trips were great. We saw no less that 13 otters today, along with a couple gators and all the 'usual' florida fauna fare. That river's not very primitive - but it is gorgeous. There are some artificial waterfalls at the headspring that have been there since before the state park where we stopped and ate lunch. The place we went to does a Withlacoochee trip as well (for the hard-of-rememberin, that's the same river we did that July, where you and Lori slept in the car with the AC on - sissy). You park at this place by the river and they drive you to a drop off point. You're really just floating back to them - except we went upstream from the drop-off first and made a whole day of it.

Pretty cool. Just got my canoe back. It's been out on loan. Withalacoochee in July=one of the dumbest things I was ever talked into. I almost slept in the river in the lawn chair that night. I still haven't forgiven your wife for being able to sleep in that sauna.

Hey, that's what happens when your soul is pure and your cause is just. Or something like that.....

Pure? Just? Just thinking, they say the devil doesn't mind heat, Pam didn't mind the heat, devil, Pam, devil, Pam...coincidence? Kinda spooky.

Sorry man. Vacation week and then a very stressful weekend of driving all over florida to watch my gators get their s~#% kicked in by the team I hate most on the planet. I'll try to come out of my shell tonight and get us fired back up.
Although I also heard that pumpkins will be carved tonight, so you never know.

Pamela |

Pam as the devil? (and here I thought it was menopause). As for eckberts singing, he loves to sing old show tunes and he is always willing to learn some new girl band tunes just for you. He thinks in one of his former lifetimes he was a bard.
So how about it DM? Can we get some bonus points if Eberk sings while he slices? Maybe he'll learn the one about bringing home the bacon and frying it up. Sounds more manly.

In the wake of recent disasters the Food and Drug Administration has issued a notice advising parents not to hide their children's candy in the oven. Severe embarrassment, hysterical laughter, and memories that friends will never let you forget are bound to ensue.
Not really sure what this is about, just thought I'd pass it on.

When Ron Zook left Florida, I had a long discussion on his merits with my buddy Brian - who's an OSU alum. I told him to watch out. I predicted right then that within 5 years, Zook would be beating Michigan and OSU, but would lose to some team like Indiana the same year. At least that's how I felt when he was the UF coach. I could never tell if it was something about his coaching staff, or the demeanor of his teams, or something. But we'd always beat the hell out of teams in the big games, and fail to report against an inferior team. Ponderous...
I think Tebow finished with 5 rushing TDs. All of a sudden, our receivers can't catch? Come back Percy!

I feel bad for them. Now they probably won't have a chance to get the SEC monkey off their backs - unless it was in a rematch bowl game with us. Holy crap that would be an intense setting! Something tells me that game might mean more to them than to us...
