Your keen eyes draw you to the west, where you see 3 human males dressed in rags at the end of the corridor, collecting the dead gnolls' weapons and putting them in a sack. You also a human stick his sword in one of the gnolls' necks! They see you and run off to the west.

Ty continues to blast arrows at the enemies. Looking in Quzman's direction, he sees the warrior staggered from blood loss and attacks that particular gnoll first. Assuming he finishes that gnoll, he turns his attention back to the archers, right to left.

Actually, since I'm pretty sure Eli's attacks missed, there is still one gnoll standing. But I'm certain it will meet a gruesome fate real soon.

Sighing audibly as Tyronel's arrow takes the gnoll down, he turns to Dumah, "Come my friend, we must regroup, as I fear another wave is more than I can stand right now." Quzman staggers back towards the others.

Move to J21

Quzman draws a deep breath as the warmth of the Dawnflower flows over him, courtesy of Jameena. "Many thanks. The gnolls are fierce in packs, but this lone one should prove no problem."

I thought about a partial charge, to try and kill him as I dropped from blood loss, but didn't want to risk it and have to spend the round getting up collecting weapons.

I believe Dumah can just reach the last gnoll with his flaming sphere.

The humans do not stop and continue to run, turning a corner out of sight of Ty's gatling gun...i.e. bow.

"You truly have very little experience with the holy warriors of the Dawnflower if you think a Paladin of Sarenrae would consider retreating while her poorly armored and poisoned ally covered her flight. Down the hall with you, wizard,"she says, in a tone of voice that clearly signals that this is NOT a matter for discussion.

Let's follow the men. You said the one slayed the downed gnoll; so they are no friends of the Carrion King. They may have information to aid us, and perhaps a place to shelter. With the Haste spell under effect, we should be able to catch them. And I can cast it again should it be needed.

Seeing Dumah pale even more, Jameena reaches into her pack and pulls out her healing kit. She opens up a small jar of ointment and quickly smears it on the arrow-wound.

"Here, this may be able to help you. The poison may already be too absorbed into your blood, but there is a chance this will help you fight it."

Heal check to treat poison. If I make the poison DC, Dumah gets +4 to his save. 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9

Edit: ¤%"&%¤&(/R%) - seems like the dice gods are determined to kill Dumah. Also, forgot to add the +2 from the heal kit, but with that roll, it won't matter. If he has to make another save, I try again.


The wound is already closed from the healing you provided. Perhaps something ingested?

Quzman quickly sheathes his dagger as he moves to Dumah's side. Putting his arm around him to support the young mage he says, "Come, let us take this lapse to get you to safety. Jameena, can you watch our backs as we go. Eli, let's catch up to Ty and see if whoever he saw has a place to hide.", as he starts to help the mage down the path after Ty.


Dumah's condition continues to deteriorate, as he is vomiting and turning very pale. He loses another 1d3 ⇒ 1 Con.

Tyronel runs after the humans and when he reaches the corner, he looks around but sees no one present down the hall.

Perception check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

For Tyronel:
As he catches his breath, Tyronel is sure something is not right, since the humans only had a six second head start on him. As he looks for clues, his magical lenses allow him to detect a faint trail of blood drops that lead into a wall, 20' down the hall.

Ty moves to the wall, where the blood drops seem to come to an end. He stows his bow and reaches out with both hands, attempting to detect if there was something he could determine. If not, he waits until Eli joins him, and points out the abnormalities.

In his vomiting, Dumah spits out some of the black vile wracking his body and manages to fight off the effects for a few seconds. Another Fort Save next round please.

Dumah succumbs to the poison once more, before finally vomiting it out of his system and collapsing on the floor, though its effects on him are quite clear. He loses another 1d3 ⇒ 3 Con. He can't stand or walk and looks very close to death, so looking for secret passages is the last thing on his mind.

Things had turned grim for the party. Ty and Eli couldn't find the humans, Quzman was badly injured, and Dumah was unable to stand, let alone access the gate to get the party out of trouble.

"Go on ahead, you all, and try to find somewhere we can hole up. I'll try to slow down the gnolls with my arrows, but they will be on us quickly." He moves to the back of the party , ready to start laying down cover fire.
