Lucendar's Jade Regent - Heroes of Destiny!

Game Master Lucendar

Hello all! I am going back into the fold of GMing after a long absence as GM. I have the time and dedication for the responsibility now and look forward to gaming with some of you.

Here is my pitch for the game: A modified opening to the Brinewall Legacy, where Sandpoint and Ameiko play less of a role in the story. Instead play begins at a nearby monastery, where you have been summoned by Master Leng, a man to whom you all owe a debt.

I already have one player:

Human (Tian-Shu) unchained monk (Strength build).

I am looking for 3 other players to kick this story off. Some survival skills, some healing, etc. would be helpful as there is a lot of traveling.

Character creation:
25 point buy (no stat less than 8 after modifiers)
Core and featured races only
2 traits
No evil alignments
Max gold
Max hps at 1st level
Background skills
No VMC
No summoners or 3rd party
No psionics

Character application: I am a visual person, so if your character does not look like your avatar or does not include an avatar, a link to an image would be helpful. Describe your motivations and personality and include the circumstances under which you owe Master Leng a debt. Did he save your life? Influence a decision of yours? Etc. Please include a character crunch (you don't have to create a profile if you do not wish until you are selected) with your application.

I am aiming to make my selections after Memorial Day weekend, unless I see that recruitment has slowed down. I will post any changes to deadline. Any questions, let me know.

Oh I forgot 1st level game. Lol.

dot for interest. -- david

thinking a ranger of some kind.

Ooh!

I've got an elf ninja that I'd love to dust off. One question, though--are we supposed to pick a Jade Regent campaign trait or does the premise of this campaign preclude that?

Most of the campaign traits are tied to Sandpoint. You can pick a campaign trait or ignore and pick 2 regular ones.

Crunch and Picture done for Rathan Firestorm. Will get the description, personality and history over the next few days.

Male human wizard (evoker).

I ran this magus character through the Brinewall Legacy before the GM had to bow out.

It's been a while.

Would he be acceptable?

I'd have to tweak him a bit, if so.

Dotting with interest!

Thinking of submitting a war priest for consideration.

I would love to play a Shaman or Druid, probably an elf with a blood oath to the Master Leng

Gerald's warpriest of Desna. Any suggestions or comments are welcomed.

Thanks for the consideration!

Dot for interest.

Dragoncat here, with his elven ninja ready for your perusal. :)

Meet Alara Shinrin!

Thanks for the submissions so far!

Papa-DRB: great pic!
Golgast: magus is acceptable
Gerald: pic?
Dragoncat: pic?

Updated Alara's profile with a portrait. :)

I believe Riggs looks like his avatar. I'll put more of a physical description under his profile.

Got it, thanks!

I'll try to update/tweak this alias, then.

Hey all, wanted to post and introduce myself, as I am playing the monk. :)

Alara, thanks for the pic. Just with the background, there is a question I have about consistency: Master Leng is a monk so he would never be able to teach you in the ways of a ninja. Also, how did your mother (an elf) become a ninja? I ask because this AP has ninjas in them and the setting will eventually shift to Tian Xia, so I feel your background needs more info. Was your mother from Tian Xia or did she visit? Just food for thought.

Alara's mother was originally from Tian-Xia--specifically, the elven nation of Jinin. She served the nation as a spy and agent of the shogun in dealing with the neighboring hobgoblin-dominated nation of Kaolung--not as a spymaster, but rather someone who reported to the spymaster. Her father was likewise from Jinin--he was just a well-to-do mage that her mother met, and they hit it off well enough to start seeing each other.

And thanks for letting me know about Master Leng--I'll adjust her backstory with that information in mind.

Incidentally, does Master Leng originally come from Tian-Xia? If so, Alara's mother might have sent her to him because she owes him a favour, and he needs help with a task...

Yes, Master Leng is from Minkai. Thanks, that cleared things up.

You're welcome. :)

Alara's backstory has been revised and updated.

Riggs and Kamashiro, do not forget we are using background skills to you have 2 skill points to spend.

Ah, missed that, DM. Added two background skills, which seem pretty relevant for a traveling focused Desna follower!

Thanks Luc. Added K (history) and Lore to profile.

@ Lucendar:

Hi! Gôlgast here again!

Got the profile all done, including backstory.

I included background skills as well.

Let me know if anything should be changed.

Thanks!

background:
Gôlgast was raised in the slums of Magnimar by his mother, Shardoca, a hardened mercenary. Audacious and brash, she fled slavery while carrying Gôlgast. The only work Shardoca found in Magnimar was being a criminal enforcer. Ironically, she took ill and died suddenly, leaving Gôlgast on his own.

Gôlgast is less sturdy and robust than his half-orc mother was. Although he has a much stronger ego. While he lacks the ferocity typical of other half-orcs, he does have better than normal darkvision. He also inherited his mother's audacity, which borders on recklessness at times. His mother's death also made him prone to angry outbursts if pestered.

Not long after Shardoca died, Gôlgast had an encounter with an odd fellow visiting Magnimar. Introducing himself as ‘Leng’, it seemed he had known Gôlgast's mother and had come to pay his respects, having heard of her sudden passing. Gôlgast was moved that Leng would do this, and promised he would help Leng in future, should he need Gôlgast's aid.

He worked in the Magnimar underworld for a time recently. He only did so to earn enough to pay for tutoring in both fencing and magic.

Gôlgast was getting bored and apathetic with his role as a small-time criminal enforcer when he received a surprise. His mother's friend, Leng, was actually asking for his aid near the town of Sandpoint. With no real reason to remain in Magnimar, he set out immediately.

He's hoping that perhaps now he will have a chance to put his magics and fencing to the test.

hm... d'ot.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hey all, since interest seems to have died out and I have sufficient candidates, to be fair to those who dotted, the deadline for completing the submission of your character is tomorrow Wednesday at 8:00 pm EST.

Alrighty then.

Sorry, something has come up, and I can't take on any more PbP, or other hobby items for at least the next six months.

I am withdrawing my submission.

Understandable, Papa-DRB. Thanks for the heads up.

I see you lost your arcane caster submission. I would like to build one for this game. I will try to get him rolled up by tomorrow night.

Well, thank you all for the applications. I am glad I received enough to complete the party. 4 people applied for 3 spots, so I am sorry to the one person left out.

The characters selected are:

Riggs
Alara
Golgast
