Liberty's Edge

Gregor will move adjacent to Pallius and thrust his greatsword at the hobgoblin.

Attack1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12

Not including any penalties for the hobgoblin being on the other side of the door.

Lhuar shoots an arrow over Pallius' shoulder but it is high and to the right. Pallius returns with kindness the hobgoblin's blow, slashing the creature severely. Gregor moves in but the hobgoblin deflects the blow with his buckler.

I will assume Gregor delayed till after Pallius, so no penalties now since glass is gone and door is open but still a miss. Naeli is up!

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

Round 2:
attack:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
damage:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

edit:I forgot to apply the penalties again.

Female HP: 8/8 AC: 12/12/10 F:1.R:2.W:2 Per: +0 Init: +2

As the shrill sound of the hobgoblin's whistle echoes through the estate house, Naeli moves forward to crouch off to Pallius's side. So much for sneaking... Reaching towards the doorway, she releases the pent up dark energy of her soul....

Hrm, need to pay closer attention to spell ranges
Move to U14
Cast Daze vs. Hobgoblin
DC15 vs Will save

2 people who can cast Daze..this is going to be annoying! :)

The hobgoblin's face turns to confusion as he ponders the tiefling's dark energy, which temporarily clouds his mind.

Hobgoblin Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12..fails

Initiative Order:
Jerod
Hobgoblin
Lhuar
Pallius
Gregor
Naeli

Jerod is up!

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

I just discovered how good daze was last year. The GM was not happy. :) At least it only works once.

That's the only saving grace...

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Expecting an assault of further hobgoblins, Jerod casts dancing lights past the doorway, illuminating the area to benefit those without sight. He also reaches out to remove his skeleton key from the doorway.

Standard Action: Cast Dancing Lights
Move Action: Take Skeleton Key
Free Action: Look stylish in the suitable light.

Party's light source, besides occasional lightning flash that lights up area? Because the house is dark.

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Changed my action, is that okay?

Sure! Like the free action..LOL!

With Jerod's dancing lights, you see a large chamber with a dining table. The door 15' directly behind the hobgoblin opens and there appears another hobgoblin, seemingly alerted by the whistle and he yells in goblin and takes a shot at Gregor, but in his earnestness to not hit his ally, misses and hits the side of the wall!

1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 4 = 4

Pallius sees another door open further south and another hobgoblin enters and shoots him. But again, the shot misses high and to the side.

1d20 + 3 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 4 - 4 = 8

Updated Combat Map

Lhuar shoots his bow at the hobgoblin in O16 and wounds him in the chest. Pallius, Naeli, and Gregor to finish Round 2.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Pallius the Paranoid, would like to point out those subtle references to the weather getting worse.

Seeing the additional hobgoblin's (and their ammunition inbound!) Pallius curses: "More of the bastards!"Pointing in their direction as he tries to finish the hobgoblin in front of him!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Is there a way to get INTO the door frame (guessing just 5ftstep??) (my phone wont zoom into the flickr picture)

What sort of armour do the hobgoblins seem to be wearing? Chain shirt? Hide?

Liberty's Edge

Gregor grips his Holy Symbol and whispers a prayer to Gorum. We may need your guidance yet again this evening...

Grant Strength surge to Pallius.

Yep, 5' step; anything else, risks AOO. The hobgoblins are wearing studded leather with bucklers strapped to their forearms.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

For some reason thought it would be difficult terrain to enter the door, if possible Pallius will 5ft step up, into the doorway!

Female HP: 8/8 AC: 12/12/10 F:1.R:2.W:2 Per: +0 Init: +2

Naeli follows closely behind Pallius and focuses her powers on one of the new hobgoblins....

Naeli moves to Pallius's vacated spot at T15 and casts another Daze at Hobgoblin O16...

Hobgoblin Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10..failure!

Summary of Round 2:
Jerod cast Dancing Lights, retrieved key
Melee hobgoblin dazed, hobgoblin archers missed
Lhuar wounded hobgbolin
Pallius's swing was wide
Gregor cast Strength surge on Pallius..what does this do?
Naeli moved closer and Dazed another hobgoblin

Jerod is up to start Round 3!

Updated Combat Map

Liberty's Edge

Strength Surge (5/day) (Sp) Grant +1 to a melee attack or strength check.

Admittedly a bit lackluster...but the way we're rolling so far every bit helps!

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Jerod hurriedly stows his expensive skeleton key in his front coat pocket, then casts daze on the menacing looking hobgoblin in the doorway.

Move action stow key
Standard action cast daze (dc 16) on goblin in r15

Hobgoblin (016) Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3..fails!
Since the hobgoblin in R15 was previously Dazed, he is immune to Jerod's Daze spell for another 8 rounds.

Round 3 Hobgoblins' Turn:
The hobgoblin in R15 sees Naeli's casting of magic and stabs at her, gutting her in the stomach, as she cries out, her eyes full of pain and shock, as she stands there a second then falls to the floor! The hobgoblin withdraws his sword from her chest with a smile and then moves 5', kicking the chair away. He then signals the archers to shoot Pallius! One of them stands in a confused state, while the other shoots but the arrow does not penetrate Pallius' thick armor!
Attack on Naeli: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12..hit!
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Shot on Pallius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12..miss!

Updated Combat Map

Lhuar, Pallius, Gregor, and Naeli's Stabilization check are up!

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Pallius charges the newest entry, hoping to make room for his comrades in the dining room!

Charge O19

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 16 +1 surge +2 charge -1 PA
Damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Surge pays off...if not would have been a miss!

Pallius charges the shocked hobgoblin and swings his greataxe with invigorated Strength, ripping through its studded leather armor, embedding itself in the creature's abdomen with such force that the hobgoblin's body crashes against the wall with a bone crunching thump, smearing it with blood. The body then falls lifeless to the ground, blood everywhere, especially on Pallius' face and axe!

Liberty's Edge

Gregor moves into the house and attacks the hobgoblin at R14. This one appears to be their leader.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13

Near death and unable to hold my weapon securely? This can't be good....

Female HP: 8/8 AC: 12/12/10 F:1.R:2.W:2 Per: +0 Init: +2

ah, so the door squares are not actually occupiable squares? Tactical mistake, heh...

Death and Naeli are becoming good friends.

Stabilization check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

Hobgoblin dropped Naeli
Hobgoblin dazed
Hobgoblin missed Pallius
Pallius charged, killing hobgoblin
Lhuar wounded hobgoblin but he is still up
Gregor stepped in but missed enemy, nearly losing his sword
Naeli stabilized

Jerod to start Round 4; both living hobgoblins have been dazed and are immune currently so new strategy.

Updated Combat Map

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Jerod takes a quick step foward and fires his short bow at the injured hobgoblin directly in front of him.

Attack O-16 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Crit Threat: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 3
1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 5

5ft step to T-16
Pretty sure my dice roller is broke, I roll a lot of 20s.

Jerod's arrow strikes true, but the hobgoblin is tough and he does not fall.

Hobgoblins' Turn:

The hobgoblin on Gregor take a swing at him, but it is easily deflected. The wounded archer shoots Pallius but misses. He then then moves back through the door, fear on his face. Through the door, off the glint of the torchlight, you see a plethora of exotic flowers and plants populate this lush courtyard, while a a small pond dotted with water lilies sits at the center.

Attack on Gregor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6..miss
Bow shot on Pallius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9..miss..guess my die roller is broken also!

The hobgoblin in N11 is in shadowy illumination. Lhuar, Pallius, and Gregor are up. to finish Round 4, while Naeli is unconscious.

Updated Combat Map

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Continuing his assault, Pallius moves through the house after his prey. His blood stained visage marring the interior, and a trail of dripping fluid behind him.

Charge N11

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Miss (1-21Miss): 1d100 ⇒ 8

-2 AC!

Actually, you can't charge him. You have to use the door at N16 to move horizontally so it not a straight line. You could double move or charge the other guy with same roll.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

I thought only last 10 ft had to be str line. If so will double move to him

Will pick the double move! Sorry about confusion!

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

The entire charge must be in a straight line unless you have a special ability that allows you to get around it

I am going to move to R15?(directly below Gregor).

I will attack the one in R13.

attack:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

damage:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

stated so I don't lose counts:-3 arrows

edit:I figured the good rolls would stop eventually.

Liberty's Edge

Gregor takes a step forward to try to finish off the creature before him.

I've enjoyed our dance thus far...but I fear I must call it a night.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16

Critical Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14

Gregor's attack literally cuts the hobgoblin in two, splattering blood everywhere!

Liberty's Edge

I fear I may have to leave a sizable tip for the housekeeper...

Summary of Round 4:
Jerod shot, injured hobgoblin
Both hobgoblins missed, one fled into the courtyard
Lhuar shot and missed
Pallius chased the last hobgoblin, catching up to it
Gregor literally split the last hobgoblin in the room
Naeli rests peacefully

Jerod is up in Round 5! Last hobgoblin is immune to Daze

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Satisfied they have the upper hand for the time being, Jerod looks to the unconscious Naeli, a look of concern marring his features for a passing moment. With a sigh, he whispers, "Miss Naeli, you'be been through much this night, but your resolution is admirable..." He kneels and retrieves his smelling salts from his pocket, holding the uncorked crystals up to her nose. "I may not really be a doctor, but I do hope you're still with us...," he says waiting for her to come to. He looks over the wound to determine just how bad off she is.

Move action: Retrieve smelling salts
Standard action: Administer smelling salts to Naeli
Free actions: Lament another evil action of bringing pain upon unconscious people
Heal check to determine how bad off she is 1d20 ⇒ 14

She is stable at -1 and now staggered with the smelling salts. Naeli wakes up.

Hobgoblin's Turn Round 5:
The last hobgoblin, wounded, curses at Pallius as he double moves towards him. Seeing his blood soaked face, he gambles that he can take out the warrior and draws his long sword, but the warrior's determination is intense, as he deflects the sword at the last second. The hobgoblin looks back in fear, trying to anticipate the swing, hoping to use the shadows of the room to his advantage. Still in shadowy illumination.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15..miss by 1!

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Swinging back, Pallius aims to finish the hobgoblin menace for good!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Miss (1-21 Miss): 1d100 ⇒ 8

And once again.......

Also pretty sure the Bard is now CE, just likes to prolong people's suffering, might as well call that a torture kit!

LOL!! Lhuar, Gregor, and a conscious Naeli to finish the Round!

Liberty's Edge

Not sure where Pallius stands on the map, but i'd like to make a double move to any square that provides flanking should that be possible.

Heart racing after striking down his foe, Gregor rushes to assist Pallius.

With 20 speed and a double move, the best Gregor can do is either M13 (in about 2 feet of water, i.e. difficult terrain) or N13, directly behind Pallius. Either way, no flanking this round.

Liberty's Edge

Gregor rushes in behind Pallius; ready to assist. To N13

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

I am going to move to O15 and take a shot at the last enemy

attack:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

damage"1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Female HP: 8/8 AC: 12/12/10 F:1.R:2.W:2 Per: +0 Init: +2

Naeli comes to with a ragged gasp, and sees Jerod crouching over her.

"Argh, but that hurts." In sitting up, she see that the blood seems to have stopped flowing from the new wound across her shoulder and chest. She stumbles to her feet, light-headed. "If nothing else, this evening has convinced me to give these foul things a wide berth in the future."

Naeli stands

Jerod is up to start Round 6.

I think it is safe to assume that Jerod's action will not affect the Hobgoblin's attack since he can't Daze and I doubt he will take a bow shot at -8 due to cover modifiers. Jerod can retcon his action.

Round 6 Hobgoblin's Turn:
The hobgoblin sees the two warriors coming towards him and the dwarf's bow shot sail over his head, so he lashes out in a flurry with his long sword at the wounded Pallius, but the warrior deflects all the swings away with his mighty axe.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10..miss!

Lhuar, Pallius, and Gregor are up.
