Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Pallius engages once more in the dance of blades with his hobgoblin partner! Blood drips onto the trampled grass as he brings his axe once more over his head and then into a downward stroke!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Miss (1-21): 1d100 ⇒ 57

The axe embeds itself in the hobgoblin's shoulder and chest, spraying more blood onto Pallius. He hovers there a few seconds in shock before falling face first into the pond, quickly bloodying the water. No more enemies around, now what?

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Jerod puts away his evil smelling salts and carefully offers to help Miss Naeli to her feet. "Can you walk?" he asks, then asks quietly, "..perhaps coming here was a bad idea?

The actor helps the woman over to take a seat in a chair, if she so desires. Otherwise, he scans the room looking for anything of use to help them out of their predicament.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Liberty's Edge

Gregor places his hands over Naeli's wound and offers a silent prayer to Gorum. Instead of being filled with divine power...he feels nothing.

Sometimes you can be cruel...

Left to his own resources, Gregor attempts to treat Naeli himself.

Heal1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

I'm afraid I can't too much my lady, but hopefully this little bit helps.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Pallius will sheath his greataxe and draw his shield + longsword. Quickly searching the bodies for any keys/accessories before entering back into the dining room.

"Well, if there are anymore..... then they should already know we are here." He remarks; wiping at his wounds with a mailed gauntlet. Eyeing the door at O9 and then back to the party, "How many of you can continue on?

We have probably TRASHED this place, speaking of which.. before our battle in the dining room/courtyard, how dissheveled/dirty/ransacked did this place look?

DM rolls:
Gregor: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Jerod: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Lhuar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Naeli: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Pallius: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Gregor and Jerod do the best they can with Naeli, but she still has the Staggered condition and is only conscious due to the smelling salts. Pallius finds 2 more longbows, 36 more arrows, 3 more long swords, and 12 gp in total off the three bodies.

As for the manor, it was in a state of poor care, but the courtyard and dining room do not look ransacked by any means. Now, obviously it is quite stained by all the blood and arrows stuck in the wall.

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

Treat Deadly Wounds: When treating deadly wounds, you can restore hit points to a damaged creature. Treating deadly wounds restores 1 hit point per level of the creature. If you exceed the DC by 5 or more, add your Wisdom modifier (if positive) to this amount. A creature can only benefit from its deadly wounds being treated within 24 hours of being injured and never more than once per day. You must expend two uses from a healer's kit to perform this task. You take a –2 penalty on your Heal skill check for each use from the healer's kit that you lack.

Lhuar goes to the door by O16, and makes a perception check to see if he can hear anyone on the other side.

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Treat Deadly Wounds is an option but without a healer's kit (which the cleric does not have), the DC is 24 and it normally takes one hour of work.

Lhuar does not sense anything out of the ordinary, just the constant rain drops.

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

Lhuar signals to the party to let them know that particular door is clear.

He then checks the other 4 doors starting at the bottom of the map and working is way around, skipping the already checked door.

Perception checks:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

A little presdigitation, a little mending, fix it right on up! Hire an adept, and a hedge wizard and in a few weeks be right as rain!

Will act after our esteemed perception machine has finished his work!

Confused as to which room you are checking, Lhuar? There are 8 doors on the map. The dining room or the courtyard?

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

This map is the only one I know of. I was assuming the brown things are doors. Is there another map?

Lhuar wrote:

Yeah, this one..Map

Lhuar checks all the doors in the dining room and senses no dangers, no one lurking or hiding in the shadows.

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

I will check the the other doors also.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

edit: Assume I am searching in a clockwise motion starting with the first door on the left

Hmm. Perhaps Gregor didn't think he needed it at the tavern?

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Assuming our dwarven ranger doesn't get eaten/impaled on his door searches...

Pallius will open O19.

Lhuar wrote:

While, Lhuar does not detect any dangers or traps on the doors, he does hear a faint metal tapping coming from further west and possibly underground.

Pallius Crispin wrote:

Pallius will open O19.

The door opens to reveal a 5' wide hallway with 2 doors to the south and one at the opposite end.

Updated Map

Female HP: 8/8 AC: 12/12/10 F:1.R:2.W:2 Per: +0 Init: +2

"I don't know how I will hold up until this is healed", says Naeli between clenched teeth. "But we should press on. Remember the family..."

Moves to Q19, two spaces behind Pallius

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Jerod falls in behind Pallius, readying a spell for anymore hostile targets as he keeps a cautious eye to his surroundings.

P19, behind Pallius, readied action Daze on closest hostile target.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

*Sniff* Pallius has so many friends now, if only because he has hp and a decent AC and provides soft cover as people try to shoot through him!

Pallius moves forward and opens, M20!

Liberty's Edge

Gregor gives Naeli a sympathetic look and then follows Jerod and Pallius as they search the house.

Do we have a light source?

I assume Jerod's Dancing Lights.

Pallius opens the door and finds it is a simple room containing a narrow bed and a single free-standing dresser. The door to K20 also leads to a similar sized room.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Any obvious signs of struggle? Disarray? Use?

Pallius Crispin wrote:

No struggle or disarray, but there are simple clothes in the dresser, if you look.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Leaving the doors open, Pallius continues down the hallway to I19...

Stopping at the door, he listens. Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

Lhuar moves back to the group and tells him of the noise he heard.
He then says:
"I think it best to clear this floor before moving on to another"

Pallius Crispin wrote:

Stopping at the door, he listens. Perception: 1d20+0

Pallius does not hear anything suspicious and he opens the door to a hallway leading to a great hall where it appears tapestries once hung on the wall, as evident by tears of fabric left, and a sprawling chandelier dangles from the ceiling. Pallius can make out blood pools on the floor. From initial glance, it appears this place was ransacked. There is also a door directly across.

Updated Map

Liberty's Edge

Is this the handiwork of the hobgoblins we just dispatched...or are there more of them out and about? Best stay alert. Clutching his sword, Gregor follows Pallius into the great hall.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

"One way to find out..."

Stepping around the blood, Pallius will head to G19 and open that door as well.

Liberty's Edge

Gregor will follow close behind.

The door, which is already halfway open, leads to a study, where the drawers of the impressive darkwood desk have been tossed and are strewn about the floor, along with various books and papers. There is a door leading south in this room, which is open. When you look in, you see a kennel and the bodies of 2 dogs lying in a pool of blood, as well as a door that leads outside.

Proceeding to the main hall, you see the front door to the west and an open door (at B16) that leads to a marble-floored room containing fine sculptures. Some of them look to have been broken recently. The three doors to the north are closed, though you do see blood spilling under the door at C10.

DM rolls:

Gregor: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Jerod: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Lhuar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Naeli: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Pallius: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Gregor and Jerod hear movement outside, approaching the front door.

Updated Map

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

Jerod takes up position behind Pallius, whispering a warning to the group, and readies Daze on any enemy that prepares to show itself from behind the door.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Pallius cautiously approaches the front door, shield and sword in hand. Inclining his head towards the west, he waits for the others to ready themselves, and slowly reaches for the door handle!!!

Will give others time to ready actions, before throwing open the door (hopefully) surprising whatever is on the other side! Tiefling girl scouts no doubt, those infernal cookies are impossible to resist! Also.. I don't suppose we get bonuses for almost getting a Lucendar Triple play? (Three threads in a row on the update list?)

Liberty's Edge

Gregor will fall in next to Pallius, his greatsword held firmly in both hands.

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

Lhuar readies an action to fire at any goblin like creatures.

Pallius throws open the door and there sneaking up to the entrance is..Ishiro, key in hand! He reflexively puts up his short sword and when he sees you, he whispers "Oh my god, you almost gave me a heart attack! I didn't see you guys, I thought the worse."

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

Shaking his head Pallius hisses back: "You trying to get yourself killed?!" Pointing at the others ready to strike.

"What are you doing out here??!?!"

"Like I said, I came to check on my patrons. I couldn't just sit in a tavern and wait. Besides, I thought you might need my tactical assistance, since I know the layout of the house. Can I come in? I'm drenched out here. So did you find anything? Any goblins left?"

Liberty's Edge

I don't know if there are any hobgoblins left in here, but I can say for certain that there are fewer of them now than there were ten minutes ago.

Tell me friend...do you have any bandages in the house? I fear Naeli has taken one too many wounds this evening.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

"Yes, please, come in! It is your household after all." Replies Pallius, waving in the majordomo.

Nodding at the cleric, "He's right, we've killed about six? But it has taken its toll on us..." Looking sideways towards Naeli.

Ishiro thanks you and comes in, as he dries himself off. He pauses to think, "I've never seen much use for bandages in the house, but the family has a laboratory on the second floor. It belongs to the Mrs., but she said the ingredients were expensive, so it fell out of use these past few years. By the way, have you found my patrons?"

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Ishiro's eyes widen, "Whose blood is that?", pointing to the blood leaking under the door at C10.

Male HP: 11/14 AC: 14/12/12 F: +1 R: +4 W: +2 Per: +4 Init: +2

With a sigh of relief, Jerod is glad to see a friendly face once Ishiro is discovered to be the source of the noise. Stepping aside, he watches the interior of the house distrustfully while pleasantries are exchanged.

"Ishiro, these hobgoblins are extremely dangerous... we could certainly make use of your sword arm, and your knowledge of the estate, however...," he adds, pausing, "..are you sure you're able enough to fight? That wound you took earlier...," he continues, then adds with a grim chuckle, "..though you're probably better off than the lot of us, now."

His eyes following the other man's to the pool of blood, he holds up his hand as if for emphasis. "None of us know. Right now, the best thing to do is stay calm and approach each room quietly, carefully... there's no telling how many more of those goblins are lurking about. In this state, only a cool head will prevail; so, can you do this, Ishiro? "

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

"Sorry to interrupt, but who is this?" Lhuar says looking at Ishiro.

Liberty's Edge

Apologies friend...it feels as though you've been with us all along! I forget you hadn't yet met Ishiro. He is the majordomo of this estate.

"Yes, Jerod, whatever you need me to do. I just want to find my patrons alive. The wound is still there but I can swing if needed. If you want the stairs up, it's through that door (pointing to the door at G8)." Ishiro looks at the dwarf, "Pleased to meet you, I apologize I cannot bow at this moment. Where did they find you? You were not in the tavern when I came in, earlier tonight." You see his ribcage is bandaged up.

Male HP:09/21 AC: 16(18HS)/11/15(17HS) F: +5 R: +1 W: +0 Per: +0 Init: +2

"Speaking of which, Lhuar mentioned some light tapping from underground?? Does this estate have a cellar?" As Pallius steps towards the G8 door.

Ready to open the door (either g8 or c10

"Yes, through that door (pointing to door at E7), you can reach the basement area." Staring at the blood pool, Ishiro says, "There (pointing to door at C10) is where those bastards killed the Levington's son..you don't think..."

Liberty's Edge

Allow me, sir. Fearing the worst, Gregor opens the door at C10.
