Naomi Chadwick |
snake? what is it with the reptiles?
hearing Ulfgard point out the constrictor Naomi gets her bow ready to fire and asks
Hey boys can we kill this one close to the raft, maybe Ulfgard will jump back in and snatch it up for me so I can have a pair of boots made.
delayed action, when the snake gets within 60 ft. Naomi will fire at it
init.: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
shortbow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Hagrym |

Perception 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
"Snakes? Why does it always have to be snakes? As big as that snake it, I'd wager you might have some skin left over, even after covering up those feet," Hagrym jokes as he prepares to engage.

shandar milsap |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

initiative large snake: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 So far all four of you spot it. Need perceptions from the rest.

Jarvis Ward |

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Is the snake on land? How fast do/can these rafts move?
Jarvis will pull out his longbow and attack the snake if we are not on land or within melee range.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

brvheart |

At 90' away you will not see it Turvijagal, but you can roll init for round one if you like. Just won't act in the surprise round. Hagrym will not see it either especially being further back on raft 2. Shandar barely sees it 19-9.

Jarvis Ward |

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 My last attack was at +4, I think it was a typo, adjust if needed
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Jarvis will continue to attack as long as it is not in melee range, less then 100', and no risk of shooting a comrade.

brvheart |

perception Lucky: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
perception Galerio: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

brvheart |

Ok, waiting on Hagrym, then the snakes for the surprise round, then we will do round one

brvheart |

Sorry hands not working well and forgot the '. It is one snake. s/n snake's turn.

Turvijagal |

Since there's only the one, Turvijagal will shoot a crossbow bolt at it as soon as the snake is in range (80 feet).
light crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d8 ⇒ 7
"With any luck, we can get some free slices of snake meat once we kill it!"
That's preemptive, of course, since I think Turvijagal has a bit of time before that snake reaches us.

Jarvis Ward |

"People eat snake?!? How vile!"
Continuing holding his bow and aiming to shoot at the creature as it approaches.

brvheart |

initiative Ulfgard: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
I am going to move on. The snake has moved up 20'.

Hagrym up

Hagrym |

Can I see the snake now? I didn't make the original Perception check.
Hagrym continues to paddle his boat toward the snake, hoping the ranged capable characters could hit it before it made it to their raft.

Naomi Chadwick |
delayed action, when the snake gets within 60 ft. Naomi will fire at it
init.17+4=21
shortbow:attack:16+5=21 for damage:=3
Bow string pulled back, fletchings near her cheek, peering down the arrow, one eye closed, her tongue tip sticking out, a subconscious result of her concentrating, Naomi whispers
"just a little closer boys, just a little closer."
since this arrow is a delay from the surprise action, does she get a second arrow as a delay from the first round, if they aren't close enough?

brvheart |

Nope, you still get one shot. You can delay up to the point of your action. The snake is now 35' from raft 1 and 55' from raft 2 so take your shot Naomi. I guess Lucky will help paddle. Next are Galerio and Ulfgard.

Galerio |

Galerio takes aim with his trusty crossbow and lets loose, hoping for some good snake to dine on, rather than to be the dinner.
Crossbow Shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

brvheart |

Hagrym takes a shot at the snake with his sling as it is too far for melee.
sling: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

brvheart |

The snake swims forward 20' and attempts to bite Ulfgard
bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 DC 17 Fort Save if hit

Naomi Chadwick |
did the first arrow hit?[ooc]
ouch, I hope that snake is not poisonous
Naomi flinches a little bit when she sees the snake bite Hagrym, drawing another arrow she fires at the beast.
”come on boys, stick it to it, I still want that new pair of boots!
[ooc]short bow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

brvheart |

@Naomi both of your arrows hit. The snake is now at 0. @Ulfgard, neither of those will hit even staggered.

Jarvis Ward |

"Someone use the oar and try to pull it in otherwise we can just let it sink if no one wants the thing, absolutely gross.... I think the new raft set up is more effective, I am better with a bow then I originally thought."
Looking at the snake in disgust and seeing if anyone is going to reach out for the creature.

Naomi Chadwick |
Naomi turns a glares at Hagrym,
"You goody-two-shoes are all the same. If I said "let it go" you would have been all "no its cruel to let it suffer" and insist we follow it to put it out of its misery. "No reason to Kill an animal" wearing your leather boots and wasn't that haggis you ordered the other night, what did that sheep do to you. We can eat the snake and make boots out of it. What happened to dwarven solidarity? It attacked Ulfgard for pity sake.
is combat over, or are we still in round two, or did the snake moving start round three?

brvheart |

It is not up to me. The snake can only move 10' a round. Not going to see me eatin haggis, lol!

Naomi Chadwick |
oh my gosh, just one little thing, you think I asked them to buy me a pair of snake skin boots
Naomi rolls her eyes as she nocks another arrow to her bow
”really Turvijagal, worry about the druid? What happened to “With any luck, we can get some free slices of snake meat”? Anyway, the snake might be a spy for the druid, they talk to animals, the snake might be leaving to tell the druid right now! We can’t have that can we?”
As Naomi finishes speaking she shoots another arrow at the snake
shortbow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 for damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

brvheart |

100 Xp each. In another two hours you reach the first island and prepare to camp for the night. Watches?

Naomi Chadwick |
As they go past the carcass of the snake Naomi makes sure she pulls it on board the raft so they can skin it an cook it later. After a couple more hours on the raft when they reach the first Island Naomi jumps off the raft and helping pull it up on the bank asks Ulfgard.
”Ulfgard, would you be a dear and help me skin this snake? Then we can cook it.”
Looking at Turvijagal she smiles and says
”you wanted snake steaks, we’re in luck, all you need to do is cut them and cook them!”
Then turning to the group she asks
”since there are eight of us shall we do watch in sets of two for two hours each? I’m willing to go first, who would like to accompany me?”
She then smiles and calls her mandolin from the ether and begins to play the jig “dragon fire” which is sometimes called “snake in the grass”
