Female Medusa

"The second door bears a similar mark above its frame to the other where the air was foul with bad magic. Kroug, what do you make of this broken black stone? I would try the first door, which is lighter and unmarked. Yet, your word on this will sway me."

Male Drider (aberration)

Kroug creeps close to the black stone and examines it. detect magic

Knowledge (arcana) or Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

As he stares intently at the black stone he talks to no one in particular. "What do you remember...from before?"

male Silver dragon

Relio'Than lowers his gaze as he absentmindedly searches his memories in reflex to the drider's question.

"Sensations, mostly. I know I was laid as an egg by my broodmother, but I only vaguely know her voice or her scent. I barely remember leaving my egg, since it was torn open before my time; beyond that, only a blur of torment remains."

The wyrmling's claws leave furrows in the stone as they slowly clench, as if his entire body speaks of his first memories.

Kroug detects a faint amount of abjuration and transmutation magic on the fixture, and with a bit more examination thinks that perhaps it is only a marker, or was at least.

Female Medusa

"The last true memory I have is standing in my lair. I had just returned from the nearby town and then I cannot remember what followed except for waking on the stone slab with you all in similar confinement."

Male Drider (aberration)

Kroug continues to poke and prod the stone as he talks. "I remember little. Only flashes. Flashes of someone else's life. And pain...torture. I do not know where I'll go."

Satisfied he turns to the others. "This is a marker. Only traces of magic. Could mark something bad...or something good. Let's try the wood door."

He crawls over to the wood door and presses his ear against it.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

quick clarification, the door Kroug is listening at is not wooden, it is stone, like the others, merely not as thick or heavy.

The only sound Kroug hears from beyond is a faint humming, constant and monotone.

Male Drider (aberration)

Kroug softly hums along with the sound trying to place it. "Humming...hmm...from inside...hmm...not sure what it is."

Female Medusa

Sidra listened to Kroug hum. She drew closer to the thinner stone door and placed her head/ear as close to it as she could without disturbing the serpents upon her head or Kroug who stood close by. She listened and tried to sense what the sound could be and if she had heard such a sound before.

Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36

The sound is low at first, but after a few seconds of intense listening, there appears to be a pattern. Something one would not likely find in nature, although there is a certain resemblance to the sound of bees. Further, through the snakes, Sidra can taste a tang in the air, similar to after a lightning storm has passed.

Female Medusa

Turning to Kroug and Relio, "I can hear a sound similar to bees but not natural. Also, the air tastes like time after a lightning storm. I do not think we should open the door and enter. We should consider another door."

Male Drider (aberration)

"Bees and lightning...bees and lightning..." Kroug scrunches up his nose in thought. (Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23)

"Yes, the other door is quiet. Safe."

male Silver dragon

Relio nods hesitantly, unconcerned about storms, but in no mood to deal with swarms of insects.

Female Medusa

The first door is unmarked, and a quick tapping on it shows that it is lighter and probably not a thick as the others.
The second door, like the one you passed 200 feet back has a similar brass fitting above. Unlike the door that is not jammed with webs, this one still has a bit of what appears to be onyx in the fitting, although it is broken and at one point you're sure there was a full stone.

Clarification please, DM. Which door has the bee humming sound and lightning taste in the air? Is it the first, thinner door?

Yes, I can see how all the moving back and forth could be confusing. The first/thinner door is the one with the buzzing sound, and the second is the one with the broken onyx and fixture.
