Thorvald watched as Rutilux maneuvered Sunfire gracefully and effortlessly to the princesses side from the corner of his helmet hidden eyes. He then guided his own horse to the side of the seaman isham's side. With bravado in his voice he hails him as he comes up beside him. "I hope I prove to be a better sailor than you a rider if we have occasion to take to the water Mr Isham. The point is to move with the horse, not bounce atop it like you are trying to drive a stake into its back with your arse! Try standing in the stirrups and move your hips with it like you were following a dance partner."

Thorvald then drops his voice a little lower so that not everyone else can hear "And thank you for helping save the entire party Isham. You helped unite everyone and got us through it. You stand out among outlanders here in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings. I will try to learn as much as I can from you.

Noticing Rutilux ride up to Ana, Dagmar makes sure to give them both a wide berth. I wonder if Rutilux is still trying to make his apology? I wonder if Ana will accept it or if she has already shifted her attention towards Thorvald? Dagmar glances over towards Thorvald, trying to see if he has any reaction to those two riding together.

So Julian, tell me more about those puppet shows.

Having started the ride so late in the day you don't reach the remnants of the town until the sun has already begun to dip below the horizon. In the distance you can see the burned out buildings and the broken rubble but know that your ride is almost over until you get closer and one of the soldiers yells and points to an orange light to the south with a large pillar of smoke rising into the darkness. Turning Samuel curses, "That's the Maple homestead! Ride now like your lifes depend on it as theirs surely do!" And with the the collumn turns and heads south towards the light as is clarifies into many raging fires alite upon the thatch of several buildings. There are dozens of sillouettes moving about and the screams of women and children can be heard along side hideous laughing and inhuman howling.

The homestead's tall fence has been pulled down and there are dozens of darkly clothed humans and some wolves moving about attacking and killing the people while they try to run. There are four humans pounding upon the double doors of the main house which appears to be barred from the inside and screaming can be heard within. More than a dozen wolves have noticed you all riding up and have moved to intercept you followed by three humans.

You are currently one hundred feet out from the fence line and the wolves are twenty feet inside the line. Dagmar and Thorvald are partially hamstrung from the rough ride so please reduce you speed by five and your initiative by one. Isham is hamstrung and suffers a negative two to AC as well.

Please roll initiative and state your first round

ARC,

If we don't dismount we provoke AoO for every foe we pass without charge and without mounted combat we have to make a DC each round to do a single standard action correct?

Also are we able to tuck in behind the forty riders and dismount next to the buildings or are these wolves set for us and we are on our own with the other riders already ahead of us?

Female Human (Ulfen/Irrisen)

Initiative 1d20 ⇒ 12

Do we look to have time to move forward first round and then dismount the second to attack the enemy? I'm not sure how fast they are moving as they come up at us and am not sure if it would waste a round to dismount now and wait for them to come up at us.

If you want to wait for the Oakrun soldiers to hopefully open a gap for you to go though you can, but you also said you wanted to dismount and 'turtle' up before the wolves had a chance to get in close.

If you dismount here the wolves wont be able to attack you until next round but you'll be that much farther from the survivors. If you move up then the wolves will be able to reach you this round.

male (HP43/43 AC 21 | T 14 | FF 17 | CMD 21 | F +6 | R +11 | W +6 | Init +3 | Per +10) Garundi Ranger (Freebooter) 2 / Bard 4

"Rutilux, Jediah - to the villagers! You - Samuel's men," Isham gesticulates at Samuel's riders, "Ride on to the village! We'll hold these curs from your back!"

'Staying on the horse was bad. I think getting off the horse was worse. By all the gods I've got to spend some time studying this.'

As Isham struggles free of his stirrup, he rolls for a moment in the grass. He picks his head up to orient. His horse bolts away. Immediately behind the horse, limned in bright sunlight, a large wolf comes bearing down toward Isham. Isham's eyes are briefly dazzled - his hands go to his eyes, and he throws the blinding flash directly back at the wolf. Isham feels something lurch in himself, then sees the a blinding brilliance - blue-white with black streaks, rather than sunlight - engulf the wolf - and its immediate surroundings.

'Did I do that?!?'

Round 2 (revised)
Status: (HP 22/22 AC 18 -2 | T 14 -2 | FF 14 -2 | CMD 18 | F +3 | R +8 | W +3 | Init +3 | Per +7); hamstrung, move 30 -5, prone
Standard: cast flare burst (DC12) centered on the nearest wolf
Move: stand from prone

Yep - this may be bad for all and sundry - that flare burst has a 10' radius, and catches everything. I (player) don't know where the nearest wolf is in relation to us, though I think Thorvald and I are near the back because we were slowed. Yep, this may generate AoO because Isham has no idea how to cast defensively. This is pure, unadulterated 'oh @!^#$ !!' reflex.

So... apologies in advance.

Thorvald Fort check vs DC12 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

"For the love of the gods what in the 9 Hells was that Isham! Are you trying to make us all blind! Draw your blade and fight you damned pirate the battle is joined!"

;)

So sorry guys! I was staying with a friend and he had no internet. I'm back though!

Ride: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Stupid horses. Julian rides away from the wolves, dismounts, and looks for cover while drawing his bow.

I think we are just waiting on Dagmar, then the wolves eat us.
