Off to the future...

well, I dont want to blast it; as we are gonna need it to bring the guys outside back inside; is there an Emergency override here?

I yell
[/B] SECURITY, I NEED THIS AIRLOCK OPENED RIGHT NOW; THOSE OUTSIDE DONT HAVE MUCH TIME; HURRY GET THIS DOOR OPEN, WHAT IS THE ACCESS CODE [/B]

Lightening Lad Misses Brainac on overwatch; he coulda got this door open by now

Superman

After a brief exchange of goodbye with Wonder Woman you leap upwards achieving faster than light speeds and break the time barrier. While passing through the time stream you see brilliant flashes of various circular colored light about you. Within each colored ring you pass through, a different time period is taking place. Instinctively knowing when to stop you exit and arrive in the 31st century, the Legion Headquarters resting peacfully below as it always has. You've arrived.

Superman wrote:

Lightning Lad

Two of the security personnel turn direction and run with you. You arrive at the airlock awaiting a moment for the security to catch up with you. One of them speaks into his communication device.

"Air lock 27A-1 needs to be opened now."

With that, the security wall lifts upwards and reveals a secondary wall made of reinforced material a few feet ahead. As the three of you step in, the wall closes and the inner wall opens. The airlock that appears before you makes a hissing sound as the pressure releases and it can be opened manually. The security personnel opens the airlock for you.

In open space you see a few medical personnel floating. From the looks of things you have reached them in time. Assisting you with the rescue attempt, the two security officers leap out of the hatch and make their way toward different medical personnel.

Everything looks alright here. Calm so far.

Touching down in front of the main doors, Superman simply knocked.

I will get the farthest; you get the closest please

Lightening Lad rushes about to the rescue.

sorry about the delay once again, work is getting to me...I believe I will attempt to withdraw, as I'm outnumbered and bleeding. How would I go about that?

On holiday, I shall return Sunday.

Matter-Eater Lad

At the beginning of the initiative, when it is your turn to act, you simply withdraw and flee. I would consider using my flight ring because you'll be able to exit much faster. This would take 2 actions; one to concentrate the other to move.

Lightning Lad
You see the medical personnel floating in space. it will take an action to concentrate on your flight ring and another to reach 1 person. You merely need grab the furthest individual and grab a second one as you return to the facility.

Superman

As you touch down in Nolan Plaza (dedicated to Ferro Lad) you see a statue of the fallen Legionnaire, the one that died taking the absorbatron bomb out of your hands and flying directly into the sun eater several years ago. The mass explosion destroying both he and the sun eater. These thoughts drift through your mind as you realize that you were also there for the death of Invisible Kid as well.

Approaching the doors of the massive Legion headquarters, you see a incoming Legion cruiser, it appears to be making its way to land on the roof top. The craft is coming in way to fast and tipping back and forth as it nears the building. Whoever is piloting it has lost control of the craft as it veers to crash into the building.

Superman wrote:

As if on cue... he thought to himself.

His cape streaked into a red blur as he flashed beneath the ship, grabbed the hull and lifted up, hard, to get the craft clear of the building.

What do I roll to catch the ship?

okay, flight ring escape it is! I activate it and zip away. I always preferred fast food....

Superman
Under your Martial Arts and Brawling areas of expertise you will see a move called "Grab", roll d20 and add your modifier. A strength roll will not be required because the ship does not even come close to testing your maximum amount of tons. If you successfully grab the ship you can guide it down to the landing pad on top of Legion headquarters.

Matter-Eater Lad

A new action sequence will start once everyone has used their actions.
You have one action remaining Matter-Eater Lad. Your opponents on the other hand have not used all of their actions and will further attack you. Once again, they both swing their plasma rifle butts at you.

Organlegger #1: Attack roll results in a +19 to hit.
Organlegger #2: Attack roll results in a +16 to hit.

You will need to defend against both attacks. You have 1 action remaining. You may also rely on your Luck Trait for defense as a free action. Let me know what sort of defenses your attempting.

- A block takes 1 action
- A dodge takes 2 actions
- Biting the Weapon takes 2 actions.

Using your Luck trait you can attempt to avoid their blows and save your remaining action for an escape. Keep in mind though that your Luck trait doesn't have as good of a modifier to add to the d20 roll. Let me know what you decide to do. Regardless you will still end up finishing the action sequence against your foes before you have enough actions to make a full escape.

1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31

Superman

With ease you grab the Mark X Legion cruiser. Are you resting it on the spaceship port on top of headquarters?

Superman wrote:

Yes. That seems to be where it was wanting to go before it lost control.

Scanning the ship with his x-ray vision as he gently set the ship down on the spaceport, Superman tried to assess what was wrong inside.

male Winathian Co legion founder

ok; that is what I do

Superman

Easing the ship to the landing port on top of Legion Headquarters, you scan the interior of the ship to look for trouble. Your X-Ray Vision reveals that the cockpit is completely trashed. The seats are knocked over, some control panels seriously damaged as well. The remainder of the ship appears fine. There are no signs of any Legionnaires or other passengers.

The ships auto pilot is set to fly from there locale to Legion HQ, though you see some irregularities in its programming.

Lightning Lad

Within seconds your able to grab the various medical personnel and bring them to safety. These are free actions as there is no real threat or danger involved. As you drop off the last of the medical personnel, you see a large creature descending from from an alien spaceship and its headed directly towards the Legion craft. The creature looks like this...

Creature.

Cosmic Boy: Acknowledged Lightning Lad, we see it coming and Sunboy is on his way to assist. I'll monitor things from here.

"Hmm. Wherever this ship came from, it's crew were left behind and probably still in danger."

Making his way quickly inside, Superman attempted to figure out the ship's point of origin and and recent logs.

Superman
Searching the ships logs is very easy for you to do. The coordinates given indicate that the craft was originally travelling to Imsk and that the crew on board included Shrinking Violet, Timber Wolf, Light Lass and Saturn Girl. Apparently the craft never arrived and stopped short several millions of miles away. It was at this point that the ships coordinates were altered to head back to Earth, specifically, Legion Headquarters. Upon entry into the atmosphere, the ship warning system went off indicating that there was an manuevering error while on auto pilot.

Make a Navigation check (using the Planetary Travel AOE, Military Air & Space Transport) to determine more information about the auto pilot error.

There are no signs of crew membersut the damage to the bridge is obvious.

Even I can't make it that far in enough time to make a difference. Better find someone inside. I wonder if any of the systems here still monitor Justice League channels.

Making his way towards the entrance of the building and looking for a way in, Superman spoke into his Justice League communicator.

"Mayday, mayday, this is superman broadcasting from Legion Headquarters. Is anyone there."

Superman
As you make your way towards the entrance and speak into your Justice League Communicator, the door to the HQ flies open and you see Dream Girl at the entrance as she rushes out towards you.

"Superman, you couldn't have come at a better time. We have missing Legionnaires by the hands of the Fatal Five. We just received a transmission from Tharok. They are holding them hostage."

She then throws her arms around you and gives you a huge kiss.

"We need you right now."

Lightning Lad
You spend the necessary number of actions getting closer to the creature in order to be in the desired range for an attack. Let me know what range you want to be in...your choice since you have applicable time. You do not know what kind of attacks your opponent is capable of and what sort of range attacks and range distances/modifier (if any) it will have.

Point Blank Range: +0
Close Range: -2
Optimum Range: -4
Standard Range: -6
Long Range: -8
Extreme Range: -10
Remote Range: -12

Let me know what range you want to be when you attack.

Emerging from the Legion craft you see Sun Boy as he flares up his flames and appears as a human fireball.

bold"You with me Lightning Lad? I'll distract him from the front, see if you can hit from behind."

Lightning Lad, your charged up for the strongest blast you choose to give. Unless you elect to inflict lethal damage your blast won't kill him. Based on your Power Category of Electrical Generation you start with a damage intensity of high. You can increase the damage intensity if you want. Each increase utilizes 2 actions. You have a total of 6 actions available.

For example, you begin spending 1 action to produce High damage intensity, it would cost you another 2 more actions to attain severe damage intensity, and 4 more actions to reach Extreme damage intenisty. this is the maximum damage intensity you can attain. This would leave you 1 action remaining for defense or whatever else you choose that can be completed in one action. You cannot carry the action over to the next action sequence.

You also have the option of spending Action Points (found on the front page of your character sheet) and spending some of them to use the Power Control options which should be found in Chapter 5, pages 7-8.

Startled and blushing at the display of affection, the man of steel turned red for a moment. "It's.. uh.. good to see you too."

Following Dream Girl, he asked "Where are they being held?"

I am ready with Invisible Kid

I come rushing out of the roof top elevator to greet superman.

"Brainiac 5 has the Fatal Five on screen, they are waiting for you."

I offered to shake Superman's hand.

Shaking the young Legionnaire's hand, Superman smiled warmly. "Lead the way."

Lightning Lad

Attempting to make a sneak attack from behind, you reach close range (approximataly 35-69 feet away) and apply a -2 modifier to your d20 attack. Remember to add in your category of +11, giving you a grand total of +9 to hit. Let me know what damage intensity your striking with using the information below.

Superman and Invisible Kid
Descending down the elevator to the monitoring room you see a small handful of Legionnaires standing about, staring at the large dark monitor with no visual image present, you can see waves of static upon the screen, knowing full well someone else is on the other side.

Brainiac 5: "Tharok Superman has arrived."

Tharok: "So the progidal son of Krypton has finally arrived. It seems your as predictable as you are foolish. Let me put this in a simple manner that all of you of limited intelligence can comprehend. The Fatal Five has captured several of your team members, Shrinking Violet, Timber Wolf, Light Lass and Saturn Girl. I assure you that they are alive and being considerably mistreated by the hands of Emerald Empress.

They will continue to be in our possession unless you agree to hand over six Lightning Rods to me. What I choose to do with these Lightninjg Rods is my business and only mine. Don't concern yourself with how I know about them. I am Tharok of the Fatal Five, the greatest genius the galaxy has ever known and that is all you need to know.

You have 24 hours to comply to our demands or we will kill one Legionnaire. Failure to bring us the Lightning Rods within the following 24 hours results in the death of another of your comrades. In four days they will all be dead.

You decide their fates...

Once you have acquired all six rods, you can contact me through this channel. It is doubtless you will attempt to trace this conversation so I assure you that I have taken the necessary steps to block your attempt. You won't find us, this I assure you.

You have 24 hours...and I think that since Saturn Girl is a founding member it would only be approriate that she is the first to die!

Tharok Out!

A muscle in Superman's jaw twitched in frustration and outrage but he said nothing.

Once the image of Tharok faded he turned to those assembled. "What else do we know?"

male Winathian Co legion founder

ok; I still want to have some actions in case it turns around, i might need to dodge; so will use four actions to shipt my power intensity to severe.

Is there a bonus as it is really large?

Who has the lightening rod to give to the Fatal Five?

Lightning Lad

Yes there is a modifier for size, it is a +1 bonus per size differance between you and your opponent, which in this case results in a +2 bonus to the attack roll. I realize the modifier may seem low but I decided that it was better for game balance. Originally I was appling a +2 modiifer per size differance, which quickly out grew the opponents ability to defend, thus it was lowered to +1 per size differance.

So your attack roll is actually a 29. The creature makes a defense roll using its Luck trait (because you achieved surprise). The die roll results in a natural 1, which grants you a critical hit for severe damage intensity. For damage roll 8d12 damage adding +11 for your category.

Superman and Invisible Kid

Standing in the room with you are Dream Girl, Chameleon Boy, Princess Projectra, Shadow Lass, Cosmic Boy, Karate Kid, Brainiac 5 and your leader Mon-el.

Mon-el: We know that Shrinking Violet, Timber Wolf, Light Lass and Saturn Girl were on their way towards Imsk in order to represent the Legion in a diplomatic meeting with Braal. They have not checked in with us so it is reasonable to think that Tharok is not bluffing.

We have six Lightning Rods here at headquarters. The Lightning Rods were originally a gift from the Watchers, just like the Miricle Machine was. We know that if the Fatal Five gets their hands on the Lightning Rods that more than likely they will use their power to bring back someone from the dead. We have no idea whom that would be.

Cosmic Boy: Superman, what brings you here at this particular time?

"Braniac 5 called me here through a recording inside a strange meteor. The meteor also housed some kind of trap set by Tharok which... took something from me. I am not sure if the recording was a ruse, or if it was real and the trap added by Tharok after the message was sent."

First of all I would like to apologize for not being on the ball with posting frequentcy, that's no way to run a play by post game and delays will be discontinued. Thank you everyone for your patience.

Superman

Standing in the room with you are Dream Girl, Chameleon Boy, Princess Projectra, Shadow Lass, Cosmic Boy, Karate Kid, Brainiac 5 and your leader Mon-el.

Brainiac 5: It would appear as if your the victim of a cruel hoax Superman, for I did not send you any sort of time travelling message. Clearly Tharok wants you here for a reason as he purposely left tracks for you to arrive here in the 31st century.

Allright we need to evaluate this situation and tie all the known pieces of the puzzle together in order to determine exactly what it is that the Fatal Five are up to.

First off, it concerns me that the Fatal Five are even aware that we have the Lightning Rods or at least access to them. How did they learn about them in the first place. They were a gift from The Watchers several years back already, initially they were used to restore life to Lightning Lad. We have kept this secret very guarded only to now find out that some of the worst villains in the universe are aware of them. We should assume that they are also aware of what the Lightning Rods are capable of doing...and that is restoring life to one while taking the life of another.

It is possible that Tharok could hope to use the device for some other means as well. His computerized half body/brain is intelligent enough to make a reasonable assumption of how the devices work or how they could be altered to perform other functions.

Dream Girl: I agree Brainiac 5, I have often thought that the technology used was an advanced version of Naltor Science which enabled me to change Lightning Lass's power to and enable her to essentially construct an anti-gravity field by making things super lightweight.

Brainiac 5: A plausible theory Dream Girl, something we may need to refer to at a later time.

Mon-el: I'd like to how they found out about the Lightning Rods. They are one of our most guarded secrets.

Cosmic Boy: Is it possible that they want to use the wands to restore life of another and in the process elimiante Superman. That would explain why he was lured here. As he mentioned earlier, he did suffer some sort of mysterious attack by a being sent by Tharok.

Brainiac 5: Its possible, but that does present 2 dimensional thinking, something of which Tharok wouldnt normally do. No, there must be something else were missing.

Shadow Lass: What exactly was this trap Superman?

Superman wrote:

Lightning Lad
Your lightning bolt lights up the space just as you described. The vast darkness of space is lit up for but a moment. As the bolt is hurled towards the creature, it strikes him with a full brunt attack. he steps back from the blow, clearly affected by it, but perhaps not as much as you would of liked.

He turns around and looks at you...Congratulations, you got his attention.

Initiative time...roll d20 and add your Speed Category.

"It was disguised as a meteor. Our sensors revealed a life form inside it. When we opened the meteor it revealed technological components within it and released a strange gas that revealed an image of Tharok and rendered me helpless. It was very painful. The image of Tharok said it had stolen my soul."

Where are the lightning rods kept and how do we get access to them?
Why does Tharok want to eliminate superman?
I hope that everyone will be understanding that i am new at this and it is taking time to get to know how this all works.
