Daumari wrote:Bonus Teamwork Feat OutflankI don't believe anyone else has this feat required to use it. Hoping a certain rogue will take it at 7th? :)
No need; inquisitors get solo tactics at level 3, so I gain the feat's benefits anytime I flank an opponent. I will also gain the benefits of my Precise Strike teamwork feat in such situations.
Though if anyone wants to take matching feats, and gain those benefits for themselves, they're more than welcome to do so.

Sardaukar, If you could do me a favor and summarize what I can do with Vardishal at this point I am going to add a section to my character sheet for its abilities. Please include the nice descriptive effects also like what the mold and ice do and look like. I think it encases his hand. Thanks in advance.
The spirit of Vardishal is within you. For the most part this has no effect, but his thoughts may appear in your conscious as certain events occur providing guidance, warnings, etc. You cannot control it, though you did gain a +1 bonus on all intelligence-based skill checks due to the extra memories that pop into your head now and then. I don't see this on your character sheet. You should of gained this after being infused with his essence in the basement of the Monastery. It is Vardishal that guided you to the courtyard in the Monastery where he weapon was buried. You can sense the presence within you, his alignment is (was?) Chaotic Good.
His weapon, the tempest, is a high powered magical weapon that will reveal abilities as you level. Currently it is just a +1 Frost weapon. Technically it is a standard action to activate the frost ability, but since it is the only ability for this weapon (at least currently) and there doesn't appear to be any penalty for leaving it activated as it doesn't harm you, I haven't worried about it. The weapon has 5 advancements in total. So far you have two of them, +1 and Frost. You will obtain the next three advancements at 8th, 10th, and 12th level.
When you wield the weapon, a patchy, uneven growth of mold appears on your weapon hand up to your elbow. The mold goes away when you put the sword away and does not harm you in any way. It is strictly for fluff and has no game effect.

Looking over Inquisitor class... I stand corrected. Nevermind...
Since your flanking partner doesn't gain the benefits without the feat as well, I take it they don't get the free AoO when you crit then.

Nope, but per the FAQ, I get a free AoO any time my flanking partner(s) lands a critical hit.

Thanks, I don't remember ever being told that by Zoo but I'll mark all this stuff down now. Does that mean he can try any and all knowledge checks at the moment? (albeit he only has a +1 if so) Appreciate the summary.

I'm down with a bad case of the flu. Hopefully I'll be able to post again tomorrow sometime.
I know how much that sucks. Take your time and get better. I knew something was going on as you have never had this much time between posts before... :) <Bahir lays hands on Sardaukar to cure his sickened condition>

Eric Swanson |

I have a PbP game on the Paizo forums that is currently looking for a replacement player. HERE is the IC thread.
Currently at this time we are only considering those who I and the other player in this game are considering. If we cannot find anybody to replace him then we will open a recruiting thread.
If you are interested, then please go to THIS WEBPAGE and read the expectations for the PbP. Also feel free to check out the IC thread as well.
If this is something you would be interested in, then just let me know, and I will let the DM and the other player know.
Thanks for your consideration.
Eric

Recruitment Request
And yes, this is essentially me "dot"-ing this thread so I can see if anyone is interested. ;)

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

I'll take a look at your game, Eric, when I get back. If the slot hasn't already been filled, of course.
Daumari, the position is still open, so feel free to check it out :)

DM Sardaukar |

Things seem to be slowing. Probably because of finals for those in school and vacations. At least that is what has been stated in other games I'm in that are slowing as well.
Since you have defeated the Carrion King and Zayifid, and acquired the scroll of Kakishon, you are basically done with Book #2, the House of the Beast. All that remains are unexplored areas where you'll find a few more encounters, some treasure, secret passages, more slaves hiding out, other factions, and new information about what is really happening here and pieces of the overall puzzle that is the Legacy of Fire. That encounter with the mad alchemist was just a CR 4 encounter, fairly easy for a party of 6 well-equipped Level 6 PCs. Though if he had gotten away it would have been more interesting.
If you wish, I can try to speed up the rest of the events in the House of the Beast, only pausing for challenging encounters and where decisions are needed on where to go next. The remaining gnolls are now disorganized and fighting among themselves over who will become the new leader.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

I am more inclined to keep exploring the rest of the areas, if only to pick up some clues as to what is really going on here. Plus, more treasure never hurts :)

Daumari |

Due to some unforeseen and sudden complications to my summer plans, I'm going to have to live out of my truck for a bit. I won't have regular internet, but I'll try to keep in touch and let you know how things are going; I hope to have alternate plans in place some time next week.

Definitely do what you have to do with no worries we'll be here when you get more settled.
Sardaukar: Missed your earlier post but I'll state my preference now. Bahir will definitely want to spend the time to totally root out the followers of Rovagug here. Nothing we have done so far seems tedious to me in the least but glossing over now empty or just descriptive areas will definitely be welcome in this play-by-post format. If we have anything to add to an area we can retcon it fairly easily as players while still keeping the game moving. Still having a great time. Thanks for the awesome game once again.

Efreat 'al Inferis |

Sorry my posts have been a bit hit and miss. Work has been horribly busy as of late. I'm okay with finishing off the cultists before we move on; love me some xp.
Sardaukar: do you have access to Ultimate Magic? I was looking at the Efreet bloodline and it is what i was going for with the elemental bloodline. It is pretty much the same minus some higher level powers and spells. Would you mind if I switched to that bloodline or a hybrid of the Efreet/infernal bloodline?

Efreat 'al Inferis |

The only difference up to 6th level is the bloodline spell for 1st level is enlarge person and not burning hands.
The crossblooded (hybrid) archetype allows a character to have two bloodlines. A character gains both class skills and bloodline arcana. The character chooses which bonus spell, bonus feat, and bloodline powers to choose at each level they are gained. The down side is that the sorcerer knows one fewer spells of each spell level and takes a -2 to will saves due to conflicts between the bloodlines.

I got a new laptop on Friday and apparently I can no longer upload to an existing albums on Picasa Web Albums from the Picasa application automatically since they were created with the previous laptop. I could manually upload directly to the website, but that requires manual effort each time I change a map. So I've created a new album and uploaded everything that was in the previous one to this new one.
If you just click on the map links in the posts, then you will not notice anything different. If you saved a link to the whole album, the one you are linked to will no longer be updated. The new link is here. It has also been updated on DM Sardaukar's profile.

DM Sardaukar |

As you prepare to head back after talking with the Trogs, you'll need to think about what stuff you will carry back. It's a two day trek back to Kelmarane through the Brazen Peaks on foot and you can only carry so much. There are the six of you, plus Haleen and 14 freed slaves coming with you. See the Unassigned Loot list in my profile for a list of stuff.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

I am not sure how much you want to handwave this trek, Sardaukar, but at first glance most of the unassigned loot can be sperad around and carried by the slaves, like the weapons and armor. If there is anything heavy or bulky, then Hazreem can wild shape into a horse, and lug the stuff on his back, or we could rig a litter to drag it behind him. Any magic items and MW items would be taken with us regardless.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

Since it looks like we are headed to Katapesh, we can take all of this loot we have gathered and sell it there. I don't see any reason we could not take all that stuff there and sell it.
There are some items we can claim for ourselves in the meantime, though. Hazreem would like to claim the +2 leather armor and the +1 spiked light shield for starters.
I suggest we look over the loot list on DM Sardaukar's profile, and put in some claims for items. Also there are some magic items that have not been identified. I suggest we take care of this before we head to Katapesh.
DM Sardaukar, how much time will we have before we head to Katapesh?

DM Sardaukar |

You'll have a couple of days if you wish to partake in Almah's offer of camels, guards, and a wagon as it will take her a couple of days to prepare. The wagon will make it easy to haul the stuff. Otherwise you can leave whenever you wish.
I have updated the list to include the 2500 GP that each of you received.
Starting with this book, I would like to change how I'm doing initiative for combat. I've been playing in other PbP games, particularly in Living Pathfinder on ENWorld where the GM is different for each module, and I've found a method I like.
I will roll a single initiative for all opponents. You roll as normal. If equal or above, you get an action before they go. Then proceed in rounds with the opponents taking their actions at the end of the round. So far its the same. But your initiative roll only matters to determine before or after the opponents for determining that first action. For each round, actions are resolved in posting order. All NPCs go last just before the opponents. This way you always know what has happened before you when you post and I can rely on the post order to determine the flow of the combat. If Mah'ysa just posted that she casts bless, you can include that bonus in your action without looking at the init order to determine whether this happened before your action. I can also post mid-round with results. It should help the flow of the combat in PbP and make it easier for me as well.
I'll update the claimed items later...

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

OK, does anyone still check this thread?
Sardaukar, how much will it cost to get all of the items identified?

DM Sardaukar |

I've moved the +2 leather armor and +1 spiked light wooden shield to Hazreem. Also added some prices to some of the mundane items in the list.
Efreat should be able to attempt to identify the items again. You could take the items to the local magic shop to be identified, but that'll be Efreat's store in the battle market.
In Katapesh, you have no problem finding someone to identify the items, for the right price...
I'll look at more later...

Looks good Wellard. I have no problem with Pae keeping the ring (just keep in mind it is not leading to a marriage proposal or anything like that, he he). If no one else claims the Ring of Protection, Hazreem will claim it.

Daumari |

Wanted to let you know that my double-weapon bane usage was addressed a few days ago in an addition to the FAQ:
Inquisitor: Does an inquisitor's bane ability (page 40) affect both ends of a double weapon?
No. In general, the game treats double weapons as if they were two different weapons, and an ability, spell, or effect that changes or augments "a weapon" only applies to one end of a double weapon.Sometimes the rules are redundant and specifically call out that an ability that affects "a weapon" (such as a paladin's divine bond) only affects one end of a double weapon. Sometimes the rules aren't redundant (such as the magic weapon spell, or the inquisitor's bane ability), but the general rule still applies: the double weapon is treated as two separate weapons.
—Sean K Reynolds, 07/25/11
This slightly limits my damage output in some ways, but at least the matter's finally been clarified. It would also apply to the application of spells such as flames of the faithful, and the holy lance domain ability I'll gain at level 8. That said, it does seem to indicate I can get the ends of my weapon enchanted separately; what do you think, Sardaukar?

DM Sardaukar |

Related to the combat initiative order changes I'm making, I think I'm also going to roll all the init rolls myself at the beginning of combat. That way I avoid any confusion and everyone will know immediately who is up and I won't be waiting for someone to go who ends up not going because their init roll is too low. I'll call the actions for those who go before the opponents as Round 0, then the opponents start round 1 and everyone goes.
When updating the "conditions in effect" for short term items, I'll just mark it as "ends round XX" so I don't have to keep track of whether I decremented the counter. The effect ends when the associated character goes on that round.

Mah'ysa Alandir |

While Mah'ysa would love a Ring of Protection, Hazreem can have that one. She can probably buy one in the city anyway.
