Hey guys, quick update.(like Bahir, I didn't see notifications)
Bottom line up front, I am very open to kicking this back off in April (end of March), if that works for everyone.
Longer story, ... why April?
We are dealing with an imminent death in my wife's family at the moment and then we are taking vacation for pretty much all of March to visit my family and hang out at Disney.

Pulling back the curtain a bit, you are teetering on the end of this book. You are basically all right there at the top of these steps.
I think we should proceed as this,
- Finish this book with Mah'ysa and Pae NPCs. We can figure out how to run them.
- I will see about Sanathoma's desire to continue with play by post.
- There are excellent story reasons for new characters to come in starting Book 6 that even leave Pae and Mah'ysa as part of the overall story, just no longer the active focus. Of course, Bahir will have to deal with not having Mah'ysa in character.
- We get 1 or 2 new PCs. I would rather not open recruit. If you are playing in another game and know of players that fit well, then great.
There was one or two from Mah'ysa's MM game that were fun and there were a couple from the River into Darkness I was running that would fit too. We can see if they are interested.
The prelude to the main action in Book 6 also allows for significant retraining of your characters. You will get like a month of time to retrain into skills, feats, class levels, whatever. Alternatively, you can make a new character if you like. There story justification for another group of high level adventurers helping with a concurrent situation going on nearby. If you want, this whole current party could be that and you all can make all new characters.
Anyway, something to think about.

I'm in. I would prefer to continue my sorcerer but maybe a little retraining. There were two NPCs that were important to my character but only one of which I would like to have resolution of before the end of book 6, i.e. Haleen whom we lost at the end of book 3 to an unknown fate.

Apologies for just dropping out like that.
I had a major case of burnout and I couldn't even look at the website for the last year.
I'll be looking to restart and rejoin games soon, if they're still around.

OK, I am back in now. Hopefully we can get this thing picked up. I will reach out to Sanathoma to see if he is interested in PbP at all still and if not we will npc Pae through the rest of the book.
We can figure things out from there.
I will make the campaign active again and figure out what was about to happen.

To keep myself sane, and to fit my schedule, I am going to keep up with a lot less stuff moving forward, specifically during combat. All I ask is that you try and keep your character sheet up to date with what was used and whatnot.
The goal is to make a combat update post not take 1.5 - 2 hrs to complete.

Thanks for the reminder. I will check into it and we can address it.
Was the other character your mother from the Mummy's Mask game? We can perhaps bring her storyline to a head as well if so.

Yes, my mother was the other background character but was never really addressed in this game. Efreat always assumed she was dead and transferred his emotional attachment to Haleen.

Heh, well after looking further I don't see anything saying an air elemental cannot have Stoneskin in effect. Consider Hazreem the target then :)

No worries. I think things like that just keep the game interesting!

I know we do have the Wish spell but it was the second part of the equation that might be an issue. While Mah'ysa could cast Resurrection we still need to get our hands on a 10K diamond he he.

Hey guys, got back from GenCon, today was rough at work catching up. I will try and get an update soon.
Sorry Pae, I am not the one who delights in character deaths, but every so often the dice roller taketh away.
Assuming the party makes it, there will be plenty of new paths open to everyone coming soon.

OK guys, I am going to fly up to Alaska for ten days on 27-Aug. Camping, boating, hiking etc. I should be back Sep 5-6 sometime, but until then I'll be out of contact. Bot me as needed!

Sounds good. Are you wrapping up the campaign here, or are we going to continue onward?

Red October standing by.

Sorry everyone. With my and my kids' schedules, I barely have been getting online. I can't predict the future here, but if you are willing to push forward as time allows, I am game. I am also supportive of another GM stepping in and leading you through Book 6. PbP GM'ing is very time consuming and I marvel at those who can lead and close out sessions quickly.
We are basically done with Book 5. There are some loose ends and then an entire Book 6 to go. The nice thing about a Book 6 is that you are all powerful enough to make things take as long or short to get to the end as you'd like (and ingenuity allows).
Does anyone have thoughts for making combat take up less time?

While it would be nice to actually complete this AP, I do understand the time commitment required for such a project. Since we are all high level the nature of this campaign changes to be more complex and time-consuming to run...and unfortunately that is true for combat. The only way I can see to speed up combat is to prepare as much as possible everything beforehand.
Still I would be fine in trying to finish off this book, regardless of the time needed.
