Yes, Pae can certainly have the Belt. I was just looking at items none of the party needed and could be converted to upgrading our existing items.
Efreat, did you want to hold off on this? I think upgrading Bahir's armor and weapons would be a priority here.
I don't remember for sure, but I think Mah'ysa already had the slippers and therefore I believe it is a double-listing.
| Efreat 'al Inferis |
Okay, I need a clarification really quick. GM Justaworm, are we keeping the upgrades from the last GM or are we going back to the old equipment? That dictates everything I do with the equipment stuff.

Great timing Efreat! I was just wrapping up walking through the loot list and your sheets to get an idea of how far ahead or behind on wealth you guys were sitting and I noticed that some of your sheets are wildly inconsistent with where Sarduakar left off in his notes. I am guessing that Corasario had asked you guys to do some stuff ... or something. With pumping up your loot, adding two players, and maxing out your Hp, I can only guess at the direction he was taking you guys ...
I hate to make this more painful, but I would prefer if you went back and matched up to the list in the Campaign Tab (where you last left off with Sarduakar). This will likely re-adjust a lot of your stats as well, especially Efreat.
You guys are going to be loaded when you leave here and will have plenty of shopping opportunity.
Here is what I noticed:
Hazreem
- List has Am. of Nat. Armor +2; char sheet says +1
- List has Wand of Bull Str 4 charges; char sheet has 3 charges
- List has Wand of Cure Mod 29 charges; char sheet has 35 charges
- List has 3 vials of soften earth and stone; not on char sheet
- List has GP at 4902.5
Bahir
- It looks like just your gold is incorrect. Should be 155.
Mah'ysa

- List has Ring of Prot. +2; Char sheet has +3
- List has Bracers of Armor +2; Not on char sheet
- Match gold to list (2063.5)
Again, please match your sheets and stats back to the list left by Sarduakar. If you see something that isn't right, just let me know.
| Mah'ysa Alandir |
I have a vague memory of going shopping when we visited a big city. Katapesh maybe? I think I traded in my Staff +1 and some money to buy the Staff of Courage. I also traded in my Headband +2 Wis and money to get a Headband +4 wis.
I'll look into the rest when I get home.
Hazreem: Yeah, it makes sense for Bahir to get the Ring.
| Efreat 'al Inferis |
Thinking that this might come up someday, I kept a list of my old equipment in a spoiler on my charcter sheet. I'll try and get the old list up by Monday.
Additionally, we were planning on using the wish from the Madrid princess to allow me to convert unwanted magic items and upgrade all of our equipment with my crafting feats. Let me know if this is still a viable option.
GM Justaworm
|
Shazzatherad has offered you her yearly wish in exchange for freeing her. As much as she likes you, she may yet need that wish as a bargaining chip if you were to fail.
You could attempt further discussion, I.e. diplomacy, if you like. After all, your chances of freeing her may be greater if you had better gear.
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
I think we should hold off on upgrading our gear for the moment. Once we find the Impossible Eye and free her then we can do that. Something tells me we are on a timetable here.
OK we still need to divide up some of the Unassigned loot.
Bahir should take the following items:
Mahysa should take the following items:
Pae should take the following items:
Efreat should take the following items:
Everyone should take some Holy Water with then as we have 13 flasks still. Splitting them up means everyone gets 2 or 3 flasks. One of the clues indicated we would need it when we reach the Temple. The rest of the gear we can leave here.
Any other suggestions here, please let me know.
| Efreat 'al Inferis |
I have switched my equipment back to the old lot and took the belt of dexterity +2.
Hazreem:
I agree with you except as it comes to Pae and myself. I don't think we should throw anymore loot at him. Give the figurine to Mahysa (gives her a "summoning" ability if no other combat option is present). My AC without spells is really low so I would like the belt of dex (plus it helps with my ray spells). I'd like the potion of lesser restoration for a rainy day as well. As far as the lamp, keep it in the party treasury or give it to me (I've got use magic device). The tanglefoot bags can stay with Pae.
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
Efreat: Yes your suggestions make a lot of sense, though I still think Pae could use the belt more. Still I was assuming Pae would be staying with the party as an NPC.
OK I second the motion put forth here by Efreat. Here is my updated suggestion list:
Bahir should take the following items:
Ring of Minor Fire Resistance (10)
Horn of the Golden Draught
Bag of Holding (Type II)
Carpet of Flying
Mahysa should take the following items:
Incense of Meditation
figurine of wondrous power - onyx dog
Pae should take the following items:
2 Tanglefoot bags
Efreat should take the following items:
Bottle of Air
A small golden lamp (From Dilix)
Belt of Incredible Dexterity +2
Potion of Lesser Restoration

Efreat: (and any others with crafting feats that don't require something like a forge to utilize)
I don't know how the previous GMs were playing your crafting feats, but I like to allow players who have them actually be able to use them. So, I generally assume that you had access to (or found) whatever standard items you needed to be able to make stuff (e.g. leather for a belt, a ring, a suitable rod, potion jars, etc.).
You can give yourself 2 hours of crafting credit during any day that you are also adventuring, and 8 hrs for any day of downtime. And of course, crafting time does not have to be accomplished consecutively.
Since I haven't had time to go back and read how you all did in Kakison, and also because time flows very weirdly there, we will assume that you had 28 *net* hours worth of work (14 days @ 4 hrs/day, which nets 2 hrs/day while adventuring) . You've also spent 3 days so far in Bayt Al-bazan now, so that is another 6 hours.
Therefore, you have had a total of 34 *craft* hours since arriving at Kakishon until now to have been crafting stuff.
Please also add Masterwork Artisan tools to your inventories for free.
| Efreat 'al Inferis |
So, with 34 "craft" hours and 2500 gp, I should be able to upgrade my cloak of resistance from +2 to +3. I would just need to convert my extra pair of bracers of armor +1 to 500 gp and it would be done.
Question: can we hand wave the sale of the extra bracers or do you allow "breaking down" the magic and reusing it in another (similar to the residium system in 4.0)?
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
I looked over the sheets and the only thing I see missing are the 13 vials of holy water. I suggested we split them up equally, but if Bahir wants to carry them all in the Bag of Holding that is perfectly fine by me.
As for Mah'ysa's equipment I believe she has the equipment Sardaukar marked on the Loot List, except I think there should be only one Incense of Meditation.
| Mah'ysa Alandir |
List has CLoak of Resistance +1; Not on char sheet
>Got it now.
List has Ring of Feather Fall; Not on char sheet
>Got it now.
List has Headband of Inspired Wisdom +2; Char sheet has +4
>+2Sold/upgraded back in town
List has +2 Mithral chain shirt; Not on char sheet
>Got it now. Put the Chain shirt +1 back into party loot.
List has Incense of Meditation; Not on char sheet
>Got it now.
List has 2 pot. of Cure Moderate; Not on char sheet
>Got it now.
List has +1 quarterstaff; Not on char sheet
>Sold/upgraded to Staff of Courage back in town.
List has slippers of spider climbing (moved from unassigned list); Not on char sheet
>I'm using Boots of Elvenkind. Should move slippers to unassigned list.
Char sheet has Staff of Courage; not in loot list
>Got it instead of the Staff +1 in town
Char sheet has MW silver dagger; not in loot list
>Bought in town.
Char sheet has Belt of Dex +2; not in loot list. Is this the same Belt in the Unassigned Loot List maybe????
>I don't remember; probably is. Should I take it off?
Match gold to list (2932.5)
>I spent all but 288gp back in town on upgrades.
Added as per Hazreem:
Incense of Meditation
figurine of wondrous power - onyx dog
OK, look alright?
GM Justaworm
|
Mah'ysa - keep the belt of dex+2. What about the phylactery of faithfulness on the list and not on your sheet?
Efreat - I upgraded your cloak of resis. to +3, moved your bracers of armor +1 to party loot, removed 500gp from party loot
Bahir - Please add your 4 new items to your character sheet and give yourself SQ: Resist Fire 10 (ring)
I noticed that Bahir has 2 Bags of Holding now, which is not an issue. Though, if someone doesn't have one then this is a good opportunity to get one.
Bahir al-Asim Abdul Shihab
|
Sheet is updated. Anyone is welcome to take the Bag of Holding if you want it. However, Bahir does not mind being the pack mule for the group. So if you want to leave it with him that is fine also.
Wow, those 4 items just shot his personal wealth through the roof. He'll carry it around and I'll keep it listed but he still thinks of the Carpet of Flying as party loot for sure.
EDIT: In my opinion we should memorize some appropriate spells and see if we can free the Djinn. I can try a break enchantment from the Horn of Golden Draught and memorize a remove curse.
GM Justaworm
|
Heh, as far potential loot is concerned, the only time you will need to worry about personal wealth is in the *very much so (hopefully)* unlikely event that you get another GM. :)
Among yourselves, though, looking at your core equipment may be a good measure of who gets what. Quite a few of you are carrying around several items that would be fairly considered as "party items" for sure.
| Mah'ysa Alandir |
Since the phylactery occupies the same slot as my headband of wisdom, I would return it to the party loot for sale.
Bahir al-Asim Abdul Shihab
|
Thanks, totally missed that on the icy burst.
Glad your enjoying the cooperative novel we have written. Sometimes I go back and reread parts myself and am amazed at what we have done. It often makes me smile, laugh out loud, and recall being on the edge of my seat during some really intense battles.
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
I was one of the players who took over Hazreem early on in his career. Ironically enough, I took over for another player who took over Hazreem original player, so this is his third incarnation!
I believe Mah'ysa and Pae also joined me at that time, about when Sardaukar took over the game from Zoomackulas Eichendar.
GM Justaworm

As a player. I would say that it just depends on how you plan on using the carpet.
If you plan on using it as a utility item to occasionally go from a to b across a pit, then no if doesn't make a whole lot of sense to pump up your fly skill. However if you plan on using it as a flying mount, then yes you should pump up your fly skill.
You will only be making fly checks to handle difficult maneuvers or during combat, so it is just a matter of how often you think that will be the case.
Personally, I would go all in for a flying carpet mount.:)
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
Bahir will accept a Resist Energy(Fire) from Efreat. He will also cast Endure Elements on himself. I have updated my spell list.
Remember Bahir has the Ring of Fire Resistance now, so he no longer needs the spell.

Hazreem: I mentioned that it would be nice to put your wild shaped stats on your sheet. If you are using Hero lab or something similar than it should be easy. Otherwise, only worry about it as you use a form or when you have time. I also noticed that your archetype has you at Druid-2 for wild shape, and so that explains why you went large instead of huge in the current encounter.
As for a stat block, nothing fancy, just something like this would be handy. It took about 30 minutes for me to figure all of this out (mostly because of re-reading whirlwind multiple times), but at least now it is an easy lookup.
Large Air Elemental: HP: 134; AC: 21 (+4 dex, +4 natural, +2 deflection, +2 amulet, -1 size) Touch 17; FF 17; CMD 28 (10 + 9 bab + 4 str + 4 dex + 1 size); CMB +14 (9 bab + 4 str + 1 size); Fort +12, Ref +10, Will +17; Speed: Fly 60’ (perfect); Melee: slam +14/+9 (1d8+5) (-1 size); Space 10 ft.; Reach 10 ft.; Special Attacks whirlwind (3/day, 6 rounds, Max 10–40 ft. high, 1d6+6 damage, DC 23); SQ: darkvision (60’)
I believe this should be correct for your Air Elemental (large) form. I am unclear whether your whirlwind has any limit on daily uses or rounds that you can stay in it while using Elemental Body III. The PRD entry for air elemental puts no such limit on the whirldwind entry. How have you been using it?
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
GM Justaworm: You are correct on the reason Hazreem is a Large elemental form. His archetype caused that change. As far as the Whirlwind ability , I assume it is identical to the Monster ability. That means he can remain in the form for up to 6 rounds (having 12 HD) Hazreem has not been using the whirlwind ability since he was too small to affect anyone, he he.
I added the stat block to his profile.
GM Justaworm
|
Whirlwind has two useful abilities (can move through enemy square, can create dust cloud) even if you aren't big enough to trap someone in it, but yeah a lot of things in here are large+.
What confuses me though is that in the PRD at least, it doesn't list uses per day (nor rounds per day) for an air elemental. Other creatures do have a list (e.g. Geenie, Janni - whirlwind (1/10 minutes, ...) shows 1/day for 10 min.). Air Elemental just shows the DC.
I need to look in the actual Bestiary when I remember as this may just be a bug in the PRD online. Otherwise, they may be fully intending that an air elemental can enter whirlwind at will for any length of time.
GM Justaworm
|
Sooo, that was a completely unscripted encounter on the barge in case anyone was wondering. Hope you liked it!
I will be making more efforts to reduce the total number of meaningless encounters (I don't use XP, btw) and instead make the encounters harder, more entertaining, and/or otherwise "make sense".
Your previous GMs seemed to be playing things mostly by the book, so I'll let you know if I change anything significant (in case you haven't already read the AP by now anyway). :)
| Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |
Yes whirlwind is a very useful ability and I would agree with you Air elementals can enter Whirlwind at will for any length of time. Now whether that translates to the Wild shape ability is up to you...though I would allow it if I were running the game, he he.
I did love that encounter BTW!
| Efreat 'al Inferis |
I had forgotten that one. The one point of logic that is completely rational and derails the entire adventure path. Plus, it was over four and a half years ago. Wow, we been at this a long time.
