10 gold would keep him fed and housed for a month or more. That would give us time to find a less greedy healer.
What religion are the templars?
Flouncy goes ahead and asks. How much to remove blindness?
Zod Kralzel |
He stays outside of the temple as the others enter. When you exit you see the man who passed by in a humpf talking to Zod. "Any luck? This man says he can do it for 30 gp."
Loarin Valeguard |
He turns and confidently smiles, "Hi there, my name is Loarin VeLeguard, traveling cleric of Sarenrae! I hate to charge you so much but I will pay for our dinner."
Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur senses the blind man as blind as he is now.
"I too have lost my sight but I have found other ways to make up for it. We could help you in finding a healer."
Koldur will give 100gp since he'll need some time to settle down and such.
"Take these to help you tide over this hard time. It'll get better."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------
At the temple
He does not enter the temple with the others instead opting to wait with Zod outside.
Upon hearing the offer though he speaks up.
"30gp? You seem to have a dispute with the priests in this temple. I'll hand you 60gp if you'll able to do it and cure this men's eyes and I'll get you dinner and likely an offer you might be interested in listening too." Koldur directs his words to the travelling cleric.
Flouncy Magoo |
Flouncy hears this, and is elated. Was it the generosity of this cleric, or the fact that we saved over 200 gold? Meh... It's all good.
He jumps right into the conversation. I'm Flouncy Magoo. I see you've met Zod. These are my other friends, Beorn Blackmane, and Koldur of the Axe, he says, pointing to his companions.
We're all very different, but we make a fine team because of that, I think. We just took out a nasty infestation of trolls, but there is still so much more to do.
The trickster then finally realizes he interrupted Koldur. He looks at the dwarf, a little embarrassed. He just gets excited at times.
Let's go find a good place to eat, where we can talk.
Loarin Valeguard |
He nods and replies to Koldur, "Sure I will take more donations, never kick a gift horse in the mouth. Yes they are greedy freeloaders. They wouldn't even let me see the high priest. An offer hmmm, well the best time to make an offer is over a meal so shall we?"
He then responds to Flouncy, "Nice to meet you Flouncy Magoo. Beorn Blackmane, Koldur of the Axe... wait... 'THE' Koldur of the Axe?!" He looks at each of you in turn offer a hand for a shake each.
He seems maybe too interested though it seems genuine, "Oooohhh, trolls, you will have to tell me the tale!"
Flouncy Magoo |
Flouncy regales Loarin with tales of their exploits, at least, the ones he's been around for, aided by strong drink and a vivid imagination.
Then, just when we thought Koldur was done for, Oliviria vanished in a flash of light, and he lived! Then, Sable teleported us! It was so cool!
Beorn Blackmane |
"It was indeed a wild and crazy situation. Next time I'm going to ask Olivira for a warning before she explodes. In the end we were not troll food, so that is a good thing." Beorn says as Flouncy finishes recounting the story.
Koldur of the Axe |
"Indeed. If not for the arrival of our allies, we would have being done for. The trolls were organized and had many a nasty trick for us.However enough about us. I would like to know more about you. What brings you here to these lands."
Loarin Valeguard |
He merrily relay with a slight drunken slur, "Yeah us the most extreme have to continue traveling spreading the word as best as we can." Before getting too drunk that he can't walk to a bed. He begins to drink water and eat some bread. He then asks, "So where are you all staying? Any place you got that I can throw down my bedroll?"
Koldur of the Axe |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Yes we do and my offer includes that an offer of lodging and meals. An offer that might carry heavy responsibility and might not be to your tastes. I would like to recruit you to join our fledging kingdom. You could bring about some needed change to the temples and ensure that the people are not short changed." Koldur says seriously not liking how the last temple had shown him.
"The people is what makes up the kingdom and having them strong and able to access healing and services freely and at a fair price is what the kingdom is striving for."
Beorn Blackmane |
"Koldur, don't you own your own place? Who would I see about getting a small home. Seems appropriate to have a place of my own instead of always sacking out in a local inn." Beorn asks of the dwarf.
Koldur of the Axe |
"I have room at the castle but my own place? I have my own home but it's a long way from these lands. I have a significant plot of land with its own workers and their homes but I have yet to build one of my own." Koldur admits.
"I have spent more time outside adventuring then staying in one place unlike my companions."
"As for getting your own home, we'll have to seek out perhaps another of our companions who would be best to ask which place we could each get a place to stay."
Loarin Valeguard |

He replies trying to stop his head from spinning, "We could try it out for a few weeks, I don't have any engagements. I would welcome the privilege to change the temples."
Loarin Valeguard |
At breakfast he asks, "So what are your next objectives?"
Beorn Blackmane |
What about our evening meeting with the Sisters of the Sightless Eye? is that a handwave for gestalt or are we playing that through?
GM Wolf |
Sorry I missed the 'when' on the invite. The invite should have also told you in four nights on the full moon. Let me know if there are any other details that would possibly be missing.
Loarin is likely just prompting the group to move forward, especially since you were all tipsy to say the least... not much more than to sleep the night away unless something occurs, which it does not unless one of you want to do something.
At a knock upon the door you likely turn over to go back to sleep, but if not you gingerly get up likely with a headache of one level or another. You vaguely remember walking from the bar to the castle with Zod guiding the group to his best ability. From the castle gate a few guards escorted you offering a few more shoulders for your group to rest upon. You were all deposited in Koldur's room which has a large bed, a couch, and a bear rug in front of a small crackling fire.
Zod Kralzel |
After the knock on the door you likely hear the barbarian get up. The sun is up though the blue curtains keep the room dark. He tries to be quiet as he leaves the room.
stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18 But if you continue to sleep you take a -10...
Flouncy Magoo |
At breakfast he asks, "So what are your next objectives?"
We have an important meeting with a group calling themselves the "Sisters of the Sightless Eye" in a few days. Sounds a bit sinister, if you ask me, but not necessarily. Until then, we can just look for jobs that need to be done. Koldur is very respected around here. He can drum up all the business we can handle. More than we can handle, when I recall our last adventure. That was a tough one...
Flouncy Magoo |

stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8But if you continue to sleep you take a -10...
percep: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 Hearing the knock on the door, the halfling goes to it, but doesn't open it, and says, Yes? What do you want?
stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2But if you continue to sleep you take a -10...
percep: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Flouncy hears the giant get up and try to slip out. He thinks about it, and decides to not get up or question him. If Zod wants to go, he can go. If he wants to come back, he can come back. It's his choice, not ours.
Flouncy Magoo |
Flouncy is wary, but all he does is stand and listen at the door, trying to measure how many people are outside, and whether or not they intend to break in. He'll take 10.
10 + 12 = 22
He also readies an action to cast Message.
Beorn Blackmane |
Noting the barbarian's departure, Beorn rolls back over and resumes sleep.
At breakfast, in response to Flouncy, "Mostly just that. You're a religious fellow, any idea who the sisters of the sightless eye are?"
Koldur of the Axe |
Perception 1d20 + 11 - 10 ⇒ (8) + 11 - 10 = 9
The day has being hard on Koldur as he does not stir even slightly at his companions movements.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------
The morning finds the old dwarf slightly better and having a good meal.
"I'll need to see about getting you all rooms and then making Loarin's appointment Offical. That should eb important. The rest of you should go replenish your supplies and prepare for any outside excursions. We have an invite and ill behooves us to not answer it. It would be discourteous."
It seems that knowing Olivra was safe was doing teh old dwarf some good.
Loarin Valeguard |
k religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
k history: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
k nobility: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
He thinks on the subject and collects his thoughts before answering, "The Sisters of the Sightless Eye are not a religious group. Now some might worship them, they are a famous guild of thieves and rogues that work towards purging the evil from the lands. Anyone who joins them must renounce any title or nobility that they had and work their way up the line like everyone."
Beorn Blackmane |
"That is odd. They mentioned something about a ritual. I thought only magic types did that." Beorn said.
Koldur of the Axe |
"Interesting. What made them reach out to us like that then?" Koldur muses.
Flouncy Magoo |
My guess is that this ritual may be some sort of reward. Or more likely, something to persuade us to do them a favor. I guess we'll see soon enough.
With a couple of days to go before the meeting, Flouncy will look around for other wizards willing to trade some spells. He might have time to learn a new one.

Koldur of the Axe |
I thought Loarin will heal the old ranger's blindness.

[dice=kn. local to find other wizards]1d20+11
Well you are not technically a wizard yet. So it will be hard for you to learn any spells.
---
After you all wake up, what do you do? Eventually Loarin does remove the ranger's blindness. You also find out that the ranger will grant you one of three choices, his service, his bow, or his treasure. He keeps his words guarded obviously not wanting to go into detail of the three.
Flouncy Magoo |
Oh, okay. In that case, Flouncy doesn't have much to do.
Flouncy wants nothing from the old man. He's just happy he can see again.
Stay away from pretty girls hanging out in the woods. Nothing good can come from it.
Koldur of the Axe |
Koldur doesn't think much of the other two options.
He instead asks for teh ranger to serve the Kingdom as well.
Once can see that Koldur doesn't think twice about recruiting potential talents for those he sees worthy.
Beorn Blackmane |
"Sounds good, service to the people." Beorn says in agreement with Koldur.
Flouncy Magoo |
"Sounds good, service to the people." Beorn says in agreement with Koldur.
Yes!
You know, it's strange, but I've been a servant my whole life... It's so much better to serve what you want, instead of what you're forced to.
Logan Elken |
As the blinding is lifted you noticed some changes but until you all state your wishes for the ranger his hair turns from graying and white to black and slightly greying. Then he sincerely states, "As you wish, blessings upon you. My bow is yours, should you need a hand just let me know. I will be seeing how my skills can help the council."
Koldur of the Axe |
"For a start, I would like you to train some foresters or if the council asks. A regiment of woodsman to act as frontier scouts and guards for our fledging kingdom. This way reports of marauding monsters, bandits or other foul creatures can best be relayed to us and swift resolution be done by the council."
Logan Elken |
He quickly adds, "I will take your excellent requests to the council and work on making it happen."
Loarin Valeguard |
If there is no pressing problems you can find him walking among the citizens learning about them and finding what ails the sick. He uses what spells help and note which spells to prepare tomorrow.
