CL4P-TP |

Good luck Master!!! May you forever have happy shots! Claptrap pats his master on the shoulders and then zips off.
Cast Guidance. +1 to an attack roll, save or skill.
With that, Claptrap zips around the container (going clockwise) around to the backside, looking for a set of controls or other mecanisims, dodging out of the way of any fungi if needed.

GMPC for Blekk
Whilst CL4P-TP zips around to the rear of the containment, avoiding a flailing tendril but seeing nothing of value, Blekk leaps up at the fungus one more time... savage teeth biting into vegetable matter. The look of disgust on Blekk's face as he becomes momentarily vegetarian, needless to say, is quite the picture...

Ravboom |

"And now that miracle has occurred, we are back to missing."

GM Zed |

Even though the thing is large and easy enough to strike, its external layers are remarkably tough... only one of Relas' attacks cuts deep enough to damage the plant. Steadying himself Ravboom shoots... and then cuts a withering stare towards Palomia as her bolt embeds itself in the ceiling.
Blekk, CL4P-TP and Vael may act now.

Vael Dahl |

short spear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Raising her spear and hoping that she can actually hit it. Looking rather surprised that she even made contact.

GM Zed |

Stabbing at the fungus, Vael's spear plunges deep into fetid vegetation... ripping it free, she pulls hard at something fibrous and the entire plant, releasing a dismal cloud of spores, collapses in on itself.
Combat Over
Excitedly from within the chamber, surely convinced that the group are no allies of those that call this place home, the figure in the chamber gestures for the group to rescue her somehow - yet although the chamber has the faint outline of a door within it, there is no obvious way of opening it.

Ravboom |

Engineering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Relas |

"I dunno Palo but don't worry - I'll help look around if it's not safe," Relas volunteers as he begins looking around for some sort of switch or other means of freeing the trapped figure.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

GM Zed |

The spores from the dying plant are foul tasting... but, as far as the group are able to tell, quite benign. And with the threat here nullified, the friends turn their attention towards the enclosure once more. The more that they examine the glass enclosure, the more they are convinced that the 'cell' is both technologically and magically secured... and, as Relas traces out the shape of the keyhole, the elali looks at him encouragingly. Tracing out a word out on the glass, the peculiarly featured woman - her exposed brain pulsing gently, then draws an arrow pointing south...
...the word is 'Key'.

CL4P-TP |

It would appear thet there is some kief down the passage to the south, however I am unsure as to why drugs would help us in this situation. Do we have to get high to reach the release mechanisms?
Despite saying this, Claptrap secretly wants to collect those drugs for future "research".
He examines the enclosure with more attention this time.
It appears that this containment chamber is sealed both physically and magically. We will need to breach both to gain access within.
Any orders on where we should go next, Master?

Vael Dahl |

Quickly backpedaling and doing her best to not breath in any of the spores. I did not think that would work. Twisting around and looking at Palomia with wide eyes, "Why would you say that?"

Ravboom |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Palo always think of most horrible thing that could happen, then chooses something even worse to be worried about. More likely it just eat us from inside out and we fall over and become one. Actual bursting out of chest is not likely." Rav answers Vael. "Anyway, it seem she telling us we need a 'key' and it south of here, so I think we have to come back to this place after kill Idiot Boy."
Rav then begins to head back out into the hallway. "You coming?"

CL4P-TP |

Yes Sir!
Claptrap follows RavBoom into the south hallway.

Palomia Kasic |
"Hey, if you expect the worst then you can be prepared when it happens," Palo explains in a matter-of-fact tone as she moves to follow after Rav and the others. "And if the worst somehow doesn't happen then you get to be pleasantly surprised. It's a a win either way."
______
True story, I used to work with someone who by and large held this exact viewpoint. Never understood how she did it; being pessimistic all the time wears me down mentally!

GM Zed |

The woman in the glass chamber has a bemused smile as the group exit the room... turning to the south, the group shortly arrive at a sturdy door at the end of the passageway. Blekk examines and listens at the door... finally determining that it is 'safe' to continue.
Opening the door, the group find an octagonal chamber containing a smaller, square glass enclosure centered on the floor. A dense, roiling mist fills this box-like structure and an occasional thud sounds from within - as in the previous chamber, the outline of a glass door appears on its north facing wall. The walls of the glass enclosure run from a gleaming metallic floor to the stone ceiling 15 feet above.
A set of double doors exits the room to the west... and, peculiarly, a 5-foot-wide hole - maybe drainage of some form - appears in the floor to the southeast.
Map Update to Follow

Ravboom |

Rav takes a stone out of his pack, and tosses it into the hole. "Rav set off trap now, so not go off later."

CL4P-TP |

Good thinking Master! That way anyone who (somehow) does not know we are here will be alerted by any possible tripwires that get sprung down there!
However, I get the feeling the only thing down there is rats, as it appears to be a drainage of some sort. Maybe we will delve into it later?
Claptrap then goes up to the glass enclosure and plasters his face against it, trying his best to peer through the white fog.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Ravboom |

"Not need drain big enough for people to fall in it, Clap. Only good for keeping things like muck or slime monsters to guard your lab."

Vael Dahl |

Shaking her head, "Not a horrible mentality Palomia but still a bit morbid."Moving to follow Ravboom quietly.

GM Zed |

As CL4P-TP moves close to the glass enclosure, a horrific mass of eyes, mouths, and formless flesh flings its bulk against the transparent walls. For an instant, its many eyes study the machone intently...
...and then it slides back into the mist - moments later, the sound of a hundred voices laughing uncontrollably pours from the glass enclosure.
Ravboom, moving past the glass enclosure, examines the hole in the greater chamber’s floor - it descends around twenty feet into the darkness before entering a narrow tunnel although it's far too narrow to use as an escape route, even for small creatures... dropping a stone into it reveals nothing new - it clatters against the walls before coming to rest with a soft splash.

Relas |

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
"Hey! There's...there's something else in there," Relas calls out, a snarl of disgust on his face. "I think it's attached to the fleshy thing!"

Vael Dahl |

"I used far to much magic earlier." Tightening her grip on he spear and waiting until the group is ready to go

Ravboom |

"Like that thing that tried to glom onto us back in cave, before Rav blow it up and splatter it all over Palo?" He asks Relas.

GM Zed |

The creature, whatever it is, is not held within the same kind of soundproofed enclosure that the elali was... the laughing turns into muttering... and then into crazed shouting - hundreds, if not thousands of voices chattering, whistling, bawling... so crazed is it that the group start to question their sanity...

Relas also shakes his head, pawing at his ears in an attempt to silence the voices. They grow and swell until all he can hear is a strange little poem that'd once heard when he and Palo had spent some time with a Varisian caravan, before they'd ever met Ravboom. It repeats over and over, first in his mind and then from his own mouth.
"I see the moon and the moon sees me, and the moon sees the one that I long to see. Gods bless the moon and gods bless me, and gods bless the one that I long to see. I see the moon and the moon sees me, and the moon sees the one that I long to see. Gods bless the moon and gods bless me, and gods bless the one that I long to see. Boy! That scared me! Why be careful guys, this thing is a Gibbering Horror, it can drive you mad with its incessant chattering. its a good thing I'M not like that, there is no way I chatter as much as one of those! Nosiree! I don't talk nearly that much, besides! My voicebox is so much more pleasant to listen to! AND its full of useful information. TONS of it! Why did you know that banging your head against a wall burns 150 calories an hour? Or that the average Palo uses her height in lipstick every 5 years? or Cherophobia is the fear of having fun? Or that it takes three times the heat to boil human saliva? Or...
