Ravboom roars. "STOP MISSING STOP MISSING STOP MISSING!" He hits Palo on the thigh with his sling for emphasis. Now we're back to everyone missing over and over again. :)

Roaring in the goblin's face and ignoring Ravboom for the moment, Biggun once again swung his chain in a circle before paring it out at his victim...

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

...but it swung back and almost hit Biggun in his head!

I really hope that my chain won't end up like my cursed estoc in my Hell's Rebels game. It was cursed because it NEVER hit. It now travels through the various dimensions.

Her aim improved by having a few moments of concentration, Solie shoots the injured goblin through the neck... it flops loosely to the floor, blood oozing from the wound...

Solie, Crossbow vs Injured Goblin (2): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19, hitting for 1d6 ⇒ 2

Goblin 2 is Dead - 2 Goblin Acolytes plus Goblin Priest remain

Ducking beneath Biggun's chain, one of the goblins plunges its sword deep into the over-sized fighter's ribs - blood pouring from the gash, he collapses.

Goblin 3, Short Sword vs Biggun: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21, Critical Threat
Confirming Critical: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17, Critical Confirmed for 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Biggun is at -1HP, Unconscious and Dying - he needs to make a DC10 Constitution Check (with a -1 penalty) to Stabilise.

Rushing down the steps, the two other goblins (including the one wearing the skull), turn their attention towards Ravboom and Relas.

Goblin 4, Short Sword vs Relas: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11, missing

Goblin Priest, Heavy Mace vs Ravboom: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10, missing

"YEOWCH! I've studied books more than fighting, what do you expect!?" Palo snarls at Ravboom as she hurriedly loads another bolt. As Biggun suddenly goes down from a nasty blow, she begins to sweat. "Come on, hit!" she prays to anyone listening as she fires again at the strange robed goblin.

Ravboom steps back 5 ft and slings another stone at the priest. This time, however, he goes into an apopleptic fit! Rage! AC BOOST, +2, Damage boost +2

Sling: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6

"Stupid Skull Gobbie! Ravboom knock head off now!" Ravboom screams, his body jittering like a hyperactive squirrel on coffee!

Stepping backwards, Ravboom crunches another stone against the goblin priest’s forehead… and Palomia deals a crippling wound with a crossbow bolt through the shoulder (Putting the Goblin Priest at about 50% health). Of the four acolytes that had initially run from the temple, two are already dead and, when Relas crunches one more, a solitary underling remains…

Globlob draws another arrow and fires it at the priest, as well. Maybe this time, he can actually hit something other than the ground.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Sadly, it seems that Globlob can indeed do no more than fire arrows into the ground!!! Rushing forwards to the aid of her fallen giant goblin, Solie urges him to get back in his feet...

Solie, Cure Light Wounds on Biggun for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2, Biggun is now at zero HP and Stable... Wow, underwhelming!!!

The remaining acolyte goblin, stumbling around in charred robes, rushes at Relas. "Let go!!! Let go!!!", it slashes at Palomia's companion - trying to get it to drop the dead goblin within its jaws...

Goblin 4, Short Sword vs Relas: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14, hitting for 1d4 ⇒ 1

...whilst, growing increasingly angry, the priest smashes at Ravboom with his mace, "You will be good offering for fire... You burn good, yes? Vuelib reward Brokebags for more burnings".

It is really unlikely to matter - esp. as you can full heal / level after this combat... But doesn't a buckler just give a further +1 to AC? Or am I missing something?

This is, indeed, stretching out beyond the realms of PbP fun!!! Long drawn out combats where it’s just a case of rolling highest on a d20 kind of get in the way… so, I’m calling this one – you folks had the numerical advantage and, after Palomia’s acid splash, the priest was down to around quarter health”

Palomia, moving to where she has a better shot, flings a globule of conjured acid at the manic goblin… landing on its cheek, the green-skinned maniac rages and spits – swinging at Ravboom once more… yet this time, as it lurches the heavy weight at its opponent, it only manages to lift its mace a few inches from the ground before, gasping for breath and clutching at its chest, it keels over backwards – eyes bulging for a moment before it shudders twice and expires…

…and, now the ragtag group have a moment to breathe, they notice the flames that are starting to lick up the walls of the temple – already it is clearly too late to consider putting out the growing fire; at the rate at which the inferno is spreading, the building will burn to the ground in minutes…

Searching the bodies of the goblins will reveal nothing more than the poorly maintained short swords of the acolytes, the heavy mace used by the Goblin Priest (Masterwork Quality) and a poorly fashioned holy symbol of Zarongel – chewed!!!

You folks may level up to Level 2 now and, once you are ready, strike out following the route on the map to the Longshanks dwellings (I am handwaving the need to rest up to level).

"Did...did they set fire to their own temple?" Palo pants as she backs away to a safer distance. "This whole thing is getting more and more ridiculous..." she mutters under her breath as the others set about checking the bodies.

"Look, I know it's still early in the day but I think we might want to rest up at Nessa Nessa's before we head out to that farmhouse. Biggun took a hell of a beating just now and I'm already out of my more powerful magics for the day."

Almost as an afterthought, she adds, "And I'd like to have another crack at figuring out what that wand we found does, so taking a rest will give me some time to look it over again."

Stalking over to his flying chain, he growled at it before walking back to the magic goblin and bashing it's corpse with it for a bit. Nodding in satisfaction, he looked over at Palomia and scowled. "Biggun no need rest, Biggun be ju-" He's interrupted as one of the wounds he took causes him to stumble over a pile of air on the ground. "Uh, Biggun meant to do that!" 'Biggun need nap...'

With the fire in the temple raging, the group elect to retreat back to Nessa Nessa’s place – an opportunity to recuperate and consider their plans before heading to the Longshanks places marked upon the map. Safely in the building and already considering sleep, the intrepid explorers all jump when, with an enormous crashing noise, the temple collapses in on itself…

…strangely, the atmosphere seems to immediately lighten – the oppressive feeling of impending danger reduces….

Everyone may level up (you will all go back to full HP and you each get 1 Hero Point) and, when you are ready, let’s get you on the road!!!

"Yeah yeah," Palomia waves at the eidolon dismissively. "Taking out those crazy goblin priests needed to happen to make it easier for us to move around the area; making things safer in general is a bonus."

The summoner unrolls her bedroll and plops down into a cross-legged position. "Hey, Solie? Let me have another look at that wand. I'm sure at least one of us can figure out what it does with enough study." "Bring down sun, burn off head and hands, be dead goblin..." Ravboom says under his breath, muttering and poking at the parts he inherited from the former goblin.

@GM - Ravboom is constructing a pistol from the parts he had and the oversized gun that he found on the dead gobbie. Per the gunsmithing feat, there's no roll for it, he just does it. The question is how many gp in parts he has. I'd like to make a 'cap and ball' revolver, which is sort of in-between an advanced revolver and a black powder pistol. It would take one round to load one chamber, as you're basically filling a chamber with BP and a ball, then putting a cap on the back. So six rounds to load, then fire six times. He'd need 2000gp for a regular pistol, and 2150GP worth of parts for a masterwork pistol. I don't think he has enough yet, unless he's scrounged bits around town as part of WBL upkeep. He could get 750GP worth of parts from the musket. Not sure if he was able to scrounge up the rest.

Ravboom – Especially as you have dropped to four players, I am happy for you to move a little ahead of the game on WBL and say you have salvaged enough scrap to make a non-masterwork pistol… if you want to delay lashing together a weapon from the remnants of Kaloora’s musket and other bits of metal, you may find enough salvage (before level 3) to make a masterwork weapon. Your choice :)

Palomia – The wand is a Wand of Sound Burst (23 charges left).

The evening and night at Nessa Nessa’s pass without interruption – the group waking to the new day feeling well rested and, thanks to some assistance to Nessa Nessa, reasonably well fed. It is only as the group are packing up their equipment, ready for the hike around the edge of the lake, that they realise no one has seen Solie since she popped outside to watch the dawn…

Globlob – could you level up to Level 2 when you have some spare time? You’ve got a little bit of space before we need updated stats, etc.

"Solie run off to find sun?" Ravboom asks, yawning as he comes down for breakfast.

Can he tear down and rebuild the pistol when he gets the parts, or would he be locked into a non-MW?

"And not take Biggun with her?" Palo replies, looking skeptical. "Seems pretty unlikely. She's probably still wandering around outside somewhere; maybe she went to poke around in the embers of that old temple?"

Globlob awakes the next morning a bit later than all of the others, yawning and scrubbing at his eyes with one grubby hand. "Wha? Who run off where? Dere foods still? I hungry."

Sorry about the delay, should be updated now.

Expecting foul play, and hoping that she didn't pull down the sun without him -for how would she carry it?- Biggun stomped outside and started yelling out, "Solie! Where you be, Solie? Biggun want bring down sun too!" Looking up, he confirmed that, yes, the sun was still up there, taunting him with it's up-there-ness.

"Well, if there's anything out there that we missed or that was sleeping in today, I'm sure Biggun just got their attention," Palo sighs. "Come on, let's go make sure he doesn't wander off too."

Shouldering her pack, Palo hurries outside after the over-sized goblin. "Is all the yelling really necessary? Like I said, she probably wandered over to check out what's left of that temple from yesterday. It didn't rain last night so the embers are probably still hot. Come on!" With that, the summoner turns and heads towards the freshly-burnt temple instead of the not-so-freshly-burnt temple.

For all of Biggun's shouting, Solie does not make a dramatic reappearance - fortunately, nothing else crawls out from the undergrowth either... The temple to Zarongel, burnt to the ground, still smokes gently in the morning mist - picking her way around it, Palomia notes that several small fires still burn within the rubble. Satisfied that none of them will lead to spread of fire, she continues her search...

...and there, at the periphery of the ashes, Palomia sees it... Solie's dagger, unmistakably hers with it's solar flare decorative hilt, abandoned on the ground... Immediately alert, Palomia looks around a little more - there is defintiely no sign of her but....

...she does see the large humanoid footprints in the ash that lead up to where the dagger was and, somewhat strange, the ash around these footprints appears to be stuck together by strands of viscuous material...

Ravboom - you can craft a non-masterwork pistoomfor now and, when you have more scrap, I will allow an upgrade to Masterwork.

"Hey...the rest of you lot had better come have a look at this," Palo calls out. As they file over, she points out the dagger as well as the strange footprints and the sticky material that surrounds them. "Looks like she ran into something, but it doesn't look like there was a fight...and I don't remember hearing anything strange," she says with a frown.

"And I have no idea what this stuff is," she continues. Looking about for a moment, she finds a small twig and tentatively prods at the material to see if it's corrosive or has any other effect when touched.
