GM T.A.U. |

COMMON BACKGROUND:
You are a team of 4-5 kobolds of the Sootscale tribe.
Always taking on the name of its current leader, the Sootscale tribe lives in an old silver mine near the Shrike River, south to the border of Brevoy in the lands known as the Stolen Lands.
The arrival of the new shaman, Tartuk the purple, a few months ago have brought a new cult in the lair: Old Sharptooth, the mighty winged kobold which is now the new tribal God.
Your little tribe is now at war with the local Mite tribe, an holy war proclaimed by the Shaman himself in the name of Old Sharptooth.
Your team is one of the four that have been sent by Chief Sootscale on a border patrol mission, while a big force will sustain the main assault at the Mite's lair in the Old Sycamore.
PC CREATION RULES:
Race: Kobold only, all alternative racial traits listed in the Advanced Race Guide are allowed.
Classes: All classes and archetypes in the books listed below are allowed. Paladin & Anti-Paladins must have an adequate background and campaign trait (see alignment).
Allowed books: CRB, APG, UC, UM, ARG, UE, ACG*, Ultimate Campaign (UCa), Kobolds of Golarion (KoG).
No 3rd party materials, but if you want to use other Paizo books not in the allowed books selection you may ask the GM, and I'll see it it could fit or not the campaign.
Alignment: Any. But being more than 1 step away from the tribe's alignment (LE) will need both an adequate background and the Outcast campaign trait (see below).
Build: 15 points, average starting gold for Class, full hit point at 1st level/as PFS the others levels.
Traits (2): 1 campaign trait (see below), 1 other free trait from the allowed Books. NO Rich parents trait or others traits which modify the starting gold (except the Raider campaign trait).
Drawbacks: 1 drawback can be taken to gain 1 other trait. Family Ties drawback always refers to the Sootscale Tribe as Family.
Deities: as “Kobolds of Golarion” plus Old Sharptooth (see the Tribe's Patron “Tartuk” campaign trait). Actually all the others cults except Old Sharptooth are forbidden inside the Tribe's Lair. But you can, as the majority of the tribe does, worship any of the KoG gods in secret. If you have the Outcast trait you can, with an adequate background, worship any god even if its' not in the KoG pantheon.
*playtest version, until the new book release.
OTHER RULES:
Mythic Adventures will be used during the campaign. PCs begins without Mythic Power, but will probably Ascend soon, so while submitting your character you may want to consider a Mythic Path for her.
NO PVP: You are members of the same team and tribe, and you tribe is your family. You need your tribe's strength to survive.
Kingdom turns and mechanics will use Ultimate Campaign & Ultimate Rulership books.

GM T.A.U. |

CAMPAIGN TRAITS:
Egg keeper: You spent a lot of time in the hatchery, taking care of the tribe's eggs. The tribal imprinting is stronger in you. Once per day, whenever a member of the Sootscale tribe you can see is unconscious and below 0 hp, is killed, or whenever an egg of the tribal nest is in danger, you can spend a free action to enter in a Rage state, as the spell. The effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to your character's level. You can activate this ability even if it's not your turn.
Outcast: Because of your scale color, your conduct or a notable action you did in your past you was exiled from the tribe. Now in this time of war, even your help is needed, and Chief Sootscale have found you and asked for your help. Because of the tribal imprinting you moved back to help your family but the rest of the tribe still doesn’t completely trust you. You take a –1 penalty on all Charisma-based skill checks made when dealing with members of the Sootscale Tribe, but gain a +1 trait bonus on Will saves as a result of your stubbornness and individuality. (The penalty aspect of this trait is removed if you ever manage to establish yourself again as a true member of the tribe.)
Raider: You spent a lot of your life in participating tribal raids and in ambushing and plundering other foes . You begin the campaign with an extra 100 gp in ill-gotten gains.
Tribe's Patron:
You have a strong bond with one eminent member of the tribe.
1. Chief Sootscale (Chieftain): You are one of the Chief personal apprentices. He is well known for his political agility and scheming natures. You deal +2 damage when attacking a flat-footed opponent while wielding a light or one-handed weapon. You also gain a +1 bonus on Intimidate checks, but only when dealing with members of the Sootscale tribe.
2. Mikmek (Scout): You spent a lot of time out of the lair, scouting with Mikmek, the leader Scout of the tribe. You gain a +1 bonus on both Survival and Knowledge (Geography) and one of this skills is a always a class skill for you.
3. Nakpik (Smith): You are well known in the tribe for being one of the apprentices of Nakpik, “the Smith who crafts all the tribe need”. You gain a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks when dealing with members of the Sootscale tribe, and a +1 bonus on all Craft checks.
4. Tartuk (Shaman): Although Tartuk himself doesn't have bonds with anyone in the tribe, you are known for being one of the most strictly follower of the new Old Sharptooth cult. If you are a member of a Divine Class you can pick Old Sharptooth as the diety granting you the class powers: (Alignment: LE; Portfolio: Kobold, Self-perfection, Tiranny; Domains: Air, Lawful, Evil, Scalykind; Subdomains: Dragon, Fear, Tyranny, Wind; Favored Weapon: unarmed strike)

GM T.A.U. |

It will be a modified version of the Kingmaker AP, done from the kobold point of view, with some additions and modification due to using also the Mythic rules.
Some encounters will be the same, others not. Even players who have already played the standard KM AP could submit their characters, the story will surly evolve very different from the original AP (and all kingmakers campaigns are usually different from each other).

GM T.A.U. |

Thanks for your interests and for your firsts submissions. I'll wait until the next weekend is over before closing the recruitment and starting mine evaluations.
@ Velix Okan: Replied to your PM
@ Oozulla / Tiaburn: Can you please add in your alias the complete sheet of your PC? I mean, with spells, feats, traits and so on... I'll prefer it in a "bestiary" form, but that's not mandatory.

GM T.A.U. |

Actual state of submissions:
- Szzlax, NE Barbarian, Raider, (alias of Dakcentury)
- Yolp, LN Fighter, Egg keeper, (pc of Velix Okah) - missing 1 trait
- Yighum, LE Fighter, Tribe's Patron (Chief Sootscale), (alias of Bali)

GM T.A.U. |

I'm starting to have a look at your submitted characters, and they seems all very good. It will be an hard choice for me.
But there is something to clarify about the "Outcast trait" and how it relates to scale color:
Sootscale tribe has a majority of black or dark gray scale color, I'm sorry for not having wrote it before.
If you want your PC to have a different "Chromatic dragon" color that's not a big problem for the tribe, that part of the trait description was thought to allow you play "metallic dragon" scaled kobold with probably a good alignment too.
In mine mind a kobold could be an outcast for various reasons: from his behavior, for having the blood of a metallic dragon, because he made a terrible mistake, and so on. Take one or more reasons for the trait, and add them to your background.
@ Oozulla: So having black scale is not a reason for being an Outcast of the Sootscales, of course brewing bad booze in your past is still a great reason for being an outcast.
Actual state of submissions:
- Szzlax, NE Barbarian, Raider, (alias of Dakcentury)
- Yolp, LN Fighter, Egg keeper, (pc of Velix Okah) missing 1 trait
- Yighum, LE Fighter, Tribe's Patron (Chief Sootscale), (alias of Bali)

- Ryzztyl, LE Sorcerer (Crossblooded), Outcast, (alias of Dark Netwerk)
Others players interested:

- Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper, (Warpriest)
I'll PM you if I found something wrong or that I can understand on your PC sheets

Dark Netwerk |

In case the outcast comment was also, in part, directed towards me, I wasn't considering Ryzztyl's outcast as due to the color of his scales (although it had crossed my mind for a moment). They may even be a dark-tinged blue which could still fit with the clan. It's his rather open worship of certain aspects of Dahak and dragon-kind in general rather than the tribal worship of Old Sharptooth. It also has to do with his high-ish Charisma (and Diplomacy/Intimidate) that could give him an upper hand should he eventually survive long enough to contest the leadership. By casting him out of the tribe, it prevents him from gathering his own followers or supporters that could help propel him towards that goal... whether or not he was even cosnidering such a thing (he wasn't at the time). Sort of a pre-emptive strike/better safe than sorry action.

GM T.A.U. |

The comment wasn't directed towards you, but I'm looking forward to read Ryzztyl's background. What you had revealed in the last post is all good to me.
EDIT: For the background, keep in mind that Tartuk and the new Old Sharptooth cult arrived only few months ago, so if you like going on as you wrote, Ryzztyl's exile was very short.

Tourach |

Would you be open to soul trading as defined in Horsemen of the Apocalypse? Since Trelmarixian is a god in Kobolds of Golarion I figured it was worth asking. May or may not include the Prestige Class in the Horsemen book, but even if not, souls can be garnered for trade in other ways (like a Cacodaemon familiar).

Tourach |

The Prestige Class (Souleater) can be found here: Souleater
The actual uses for souls, whether through that prestige class or not, can be found here: Soul Trade
In summary the souls are currency among Daemons, but can also be used as spell components or for the creation of intelligent items.

GM T.A.U. |

@ Yik Klick: Thanks for your submission! The picture is of a red kobold.
But at a first sight of your build I have to say that the traits part is not correct.
You have 2 campaign traits Tribe's Patron (Tartuk) and Egg Keeper instead of one, plus a standard trait (Unhinged Mentality) which is of another god (Requirement(s) Lamashtu) and not from the allowed books.
Seeing your background I can even allow you (and everyone who wants to do so) to take a second campaign trait, if taking a drawback, but in any case you need to replace the other standard trait too with one from the allowed books.
I'll check the rest of your build probably tomorrow to see if there is something missing, wrong or that I can't understand.
@ Blokpug Sootscale: Thank's for your update.
@ Szzlax: Don't worry, there is still a lot of time for submissions.
I'll post a deadline, once I have done a proper time conversion (I'm from Italy, so GMT +2 here during Summer, and I usually get lost when calculating times differences.)

[spoiler=Background]Yik Klik is very devoted to the new cult that arrived and to the one named Tartuk. He felt an affinity towards the faith of Old Sharptooth right away, and began taking it with him everywhere he went. This included towards his duties as an egg hatcher. He would whisper sermons to the young unborn as they lay in the hatchery and to those other who would listen. He spread the ideals and philosophy of Old Sharptooth as if he had been born into it. He always regarded himself as especially touched, taking great pride in his red scales and wings. He has become very outspoken and supportive of the Old Sharptooth cult since the beginning and he feels his time is near that it will pay off.

Isk was an aspiring priest of Dahak although he found his connection with the old god to be far weaker than the other priests. When Tartuk joined the clan and enlightened him in the teachings of Sharptooth, he found a natural connection. Isk has been a devout follower of Tartuk and his preachings. Although Isk no longer pursues the worship of Dahak, he still holds him in great honor since he is the creator of dragonkind.
Isk has known only religious servitude all his life. He now believes he is an instrument of Sharptooth and is ready to do his bidding.
Isk is a calm, mild-mannered, rational kobold who believes that the dragonblooded are destined to rule all the lands. Isk is willing to do his part to make that happen.
Isk constantly speaks of the importance of embracing Sharptooth, and always credits him when something advantageous occurs for the Sootscales. Isk thinks of Tartuk like a demi-god and believes somehow that the Sootscales would have been doomed had Tartuk not found them and saved the.
The Warpriest does not have an equivalent blessing for the scalykind domain. Instead I gave him a blessing from Dahak (Destruction). Please let me know if this is acceptable, or if there is a different blessing you think he should have.

GM T.A.U. |

About Warpriest Blessing I'll say that, according to Old Sharptooth domains, his blessing are for now only 3: Air, Evil and Law
Not the Distruction blessing 'cause it doesn't fit him for some reasons I can't spoiler you.
When the official ACG will be released, if there will be a Scalykind blessing I'll allow you to change it.
Actually, for all the ACG build, if the new book will drastically change what you had in mind for your PC, I can even allow you to rebuild him completely.

GM T.A.U. |

It's becoming very hard even to start thinking about picking only 4/5 of your PCs, 'cause they all are really interesting builds and concepts.
So, I may be a little crazy for thinking about this, but, since there are 8 current submissions and 2 possible interests, for a total of 8-10 PCs, and the campaign could be very long in time, and PBP tends to lost players/PC along the road...
I'm going to ask you, via poll, this question:
what kind of game do you prefer?
a) 1 big unique team of 8-10 PCs
b) 2 teams in a Shared Campaign (Interactions possible, especially in Kingdom Phase)
c) 2 teams in 2 different Parallel Universes (No interaction possible, each Campaign is autonomous)
Please answer in the Pool Here

![]() |

The problem with one big team is the CR system runs off a 4-5 person assumnption. You double that, you have to increase each encounter.
This does one of two things:
1. It makes you fight creatures far out of your league, and the team has to rely on mob rules as someone in each fight will die.
2. To counter this you instead introduce more enemy creatures to even things out. This in turn exponentially increases the time of the fight.

Yighuk |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Just voted.
My preference would be two teams in a shared campaign. I think it would be interested to have another group influencing things in their own way. It can be tough to pull this off at the table but with the wonders of PbP the GM can play filter between the two groups pretty effectively (we'd just need to stay out of the other thread :) Additionally if we did start losing players down the road the two groups could eventually merge or transfer players as appropriate.
One big group is quite kobold-ish but I think with the delays inherent in PbP would be problematic.
Two separate groups would be...well..two separate groups so no real plus or minus there.

GM T.A.U. |

1 big team: For the CR of the Encounter there is a very good 6 Players conversion in the Kingmaker AP forum, I can easily adapt to a campaign of 8/10 PCs. That's not a problem.
For fighting times, I have already played in a PBP with 8-12 players, we simply used fixed deadline for a round during combat, if you don't post your action in time, the GM bot your PC to do something not dangerous neither useless for the party like wasting the round (ie a Fighter fight Defensively, a Caster cast (eventually defensively) a cantrip/orison, and so on...)
About 2 teams in a shared campaign: I'm presently really enjoying one PBP campaign of this kind, but with a lot more PCs (we went from 14 to 20, now back to 15 active players)
About 2 separated team, as Yighuk said: no real plus or minus

Szzlax |

I was previously in a Kingmaker campaign that had 10 or so players and it ran really well. We would split up into seperate groups to go do things and then meet up to coordinate. The GM would use 2 or 3 different threads, one for the group together and then one for each group doing their own thing. I imagine this was a good amount of work on the GM but it was a lot of fun.
It worked really well and I think we would still be playing it but our GM had schedule issues switching to a new job and had to bow out.

Kirtyl |

This is Tourach's submission.
I have to put in a background and a description later, but the jist of the idea is that Kirtyl is a both a wizard and, as a worshiper of Azmodeus, something of a negotiator and lawyer in the contract law sense. I've set him up to be a controller/battlefield manipulator in combat, but he also has a high Diplomacy and Appraise so should be able to handle the diplomacy and negotiating as kingdom building goes on. I figure he's intelligent, meticulous, and generally quite a dire and serious fellow. While some kobolds might take ambushing "lesser" races literally, he ambushes people through loopholes in contracts and shrewd negotiating.
Thinking blue scaled and he has the Wyrmcrown (Diplomacy) alternate racial trait.

Fyrenmar |

I posted this character in another Kobold game but I feel this one might get off the ground before that one and this seems just as interesting. I'd like to keep it as is for now so you can take a look at it. Its based off of a 25 point buy cause, lets be honest, Kobolds are weak as a race. All of those 15 are going to Charisma though. I assume patron is trait so I will probably trade chieftain for Birthmark. And I vote for 2 or 3.

GM T.A.U. |

Thanks for your submission Kirtyl (Tourach). So you changed your mind and avoided soul trade and horse man? No problem for me, Asmodeus and contracts are ok.
Fyrenmar I need you to update your build to 15 point buy and according to the other rules, like all the others have done, for mine evaluations. You can post it in the thread if you don't want to update your alias now or create a new on. But 15 points is mandatory.
Also yes, Tribe's Patron is 1 of the 4 Campaign traits, and once chosen you have to choose also who is your Patron between the 4 listed, so basically we can say that the campaign traits are 7, counting each tribe's patron as 1 different trait.
