Arasmes Kemnebi |
Also when we post interactions with the NPC's are we allowed to assume some of their actions or should we wait for DM response with their reactions? Presently I have Aluar at Angus' house awaiting him but if he doesn't answer I'll have Aluar head to the inn once everyone arrives.
Not trying to exclude you - perhaps we could walk to the inn past Angus' house and you could see us and (more importantly) him?
Yolk |
"Greetings, fellows. I am Gryfford, son of Marsus the Strong... sometimes called the Unrelenting by the adoring crowd." He paused.
Gryfford grinned and spoke again: "I am looking for the famous Angus McDarrow, paladin of Erastil and perhaps teller of tales... Pleased to meet you, Taltōsh !... And you too, good dwarf and good sir !"
Eyeing the man who had just arrived in front of the temple of Erastil, he waited patiently while listening. "The name's Yolk." Yolk says finally, bowing towards Gryfford. "Angus McDarrow, eh?"
Arasmes extended his hand to Yolk, and with a slight bow introduced himself
"I am Arasmes, the son of Izora, who is the daughter of Kemnebi."
Shaking the hand of the Arasmes, Yolk starts, "Aye, Angus does seem to have an interesting story I have come here to hear about." Yolk leans in closely, speaking softly for only the gathering in front of the temple of Erastil to hear. "...Stories of Vampires and Werewolves." he says with contempt.
"I'll buy the beer... or wine if your tastes go that way." To Yolk: "Knight dwarf, I've heard that dwarves are great ale drinkers : is that true ?"
Looking at Gryfford, he thinks a moment. "Perhaps? I didn't have much of a chance to leave the temple in Janderhoff..."Yolk admits.
He takes in the group with a distracted air. Well met, I am Adriel, first and last son of Sandpoints druid, Talsharra. I am the 'new' witch in the woods, as it were.
Mouthing silently the word witch, Yolk greets the newcomer as warmly as the rest of these men before him. "Ah a man from Sandpoint, perhaps you can tell us more of the goings on around this place. Please, let's leave word for Angus and whoever else would come here for rumors to meet us at the Rusty Dragon, I have a hunger... and perhaps a thirst." Yolk says first speaking to Adriel, then the group, and then finally to Gryfford.
Gryfford The Unrelenting |
Looking at Gryfford, he thinks a moment. "Perhaps? I didn't have much of a chance to leave the temple in Janderhoff..."Yolk admits.
"You lived in a temple, Yolk? You were some kind of vicar, then ? Hum, I don't know what is the proper dwarven title for that - so sorry if I'm using the wrong word: I meant no disrespect."
In the following, I'm assuming thet we've just left a word for Angus at the temple, and that Adriel was in fact alone when he came at the temple's gate.
I don't want to step on your toes, Adriel, I'm just going along with the flow of what said Yolk and trying to have us meet Aluar. Do tell me if that's bothering you though, and if that's the case, I will try not to be so presumptuous in the future.
To all of the temple visitors:
"Well, if we all agree, it's settled then: to the inn of the fair lady... winking at Yolk where perhaps we'll have a chance to quench all our thirsts ! And let us pass by the paladin's house in the off chance he will be there."
Adriel Mistleaf |
Not a problem retconning Angus out of the picture. Was merely going on from.my RP sample, where I'd "met" Angus. And yes I am wearing medium armor but with 0% spell failure.Just reduced speed.
@YolkSadly I can speak little of Current events in town. I lived with my Mother in the surrounding woods, she was a druid you see, though the local children would say otherwise. My visits to town were infrequent, enough so it seems, I have inherited the title.
It is a moot point in any case. Our grove has been overrun by the local goblin birdcruncher tribe and so here I am and though wine or ale has never passed my lips, I would accompany you. I am a stranger in my 'hometown' as it were. Angus has a problem it seems and for my own reasons I am here to offer aid.

Angus won't make an appearnce until the game starts. I don't mind what RP you do here, but it will only be waiting for him. Grab a drink, argue about religion, whatever you will ;)

@ Aluar - Yep, Aluar should just head to the inn. :)
"Yes, a drink and a meal would be nice. It appears that the inn is our next stop then?"
Aluar |
Aluar trudged through the mud churned streets of Sandport. Lightning forked overhead and cacauphonous rumbles of thunder shook the night. He had waited through the storm's beginning at Angus' house but as the hours passed, the man did not show, and the rain's intensity grew forcing him to seek shelter at the local inn.
He stood outside the inn gazing at the door. A curious sight he thought, the lights from beyond shinning around the edges giving the portal the appearance of a doorway to some magical or ominous place. The roars of revelry from within rivaled the thunders threatening cries above.
Aluar opened the door without hesitation and swept inside. The heavy door slammed in to the wall drawing all eyes as a draft of cold wet air swirled in to the room. The merry celebration going on at a table surrounded by five men suddenly ceasing. Rebounding from the wall the door swung shut again closing out the stormy night.
The man named Aluar strode forward presenting himself before the table of adventurers with his left side facing them, his head tilted up to regard them with his left eye.
holy symbol clearly visible on the left sleeve of his coat. DC 10 knowledge religion to recognize.
"I seek a man named Angus. Do any of you know him?"
Puddles are forming beneath him as rain water drips from his coat and hat to fall upon the floor.
Arasmes Kemnebi |
Arasmes gestures at a waitress, points to the roast turning over the fire and holds up six fingers. When sure she has seen, he turns to Adriel Talsharra
"You said your grove was overrun by 'Goblins'. I'm afraid they're just a myth where I come from. Some sort of indigenous tribe of non-humans, yes?"
Taltōsh |
Taltōsh listened to the conversation at the table as Aluar entered. He was particularly interested in Arasmes' and Adriel's conversation.
Kn-Religion (for Aluar's holy symbol): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kn-Local for Goblins: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Kn-Local for Lycanthropes/Werewolves: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Let's get those crummy rolls out of the way! :P
He was unfamiliar with Aluar's faith, and he never bothered to learn much about goblins. However, he new a little about werewolves.
Aluar |
"Hello stranger! We are waiting for Angus ourselves. I was just about to buy some hot lunch and some warm ale - join us?" Arasmes asked cheerfully, gesturing expansively at the table.
Aluar reaches to his right grabbing a chair from another table of patrons. They stare at him for a moment, glancing at his red eye and scarred face before averting their faces. Aluar does not seem to notice them as he turns the chair to your table and sits down.
Aluar gazes at Arasmes, his head tilts to the side a bit as he peers inquisitively at him for a brief moment, then turns his sight upon the rest of the group, each one in turn with a brief pause letting his eyes settle upon them. Grabbing a mug from the table he takes a long drink, then leans forward removing his hat and attempts to catch up on the conversation at the table.
Anyone who has kn-nature should roll that out there for the werewolves/lycanthropes. Don't think my knowledge's will be aid in that!

Actually, it should be Kn-Local (which covers humanoids).

Wouldn't local be to know if there are any residing or specific ones in this area, and nature would be to know in general about werewolves or lycans, such as their abilities and how to kill them and to know about the disease lycanthropy?
Taltōsh |
Taltōsh is better at Kn-Arcana anyway. The default roll would be 'Local'--it's just one the peculiarities of the Skill system (they focus on the primary types and not subtypes). However, GM ruling overrides the base rules, so here's a new skill roll:
Kn-Arcana to know about Lycanthropes/Werewolves: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Wow! Much better! :)

You can only make Common Knowledge DC 10 checks untrained.
Untrained: You cannot make an untrained Knowledge check with a DC higher than 10. If you have access to an extensive library that covers a specific skill, this limit is removed. The time to make checks using a library, however, increases to 1d4 hours. Particularly complete libraries might even grant a bonus on Knowledge checks in the fields that they cover.
Yolk |
Hey guys, would you rather Yolk talk more like a dwarf? I'm trying to play him like he talks well-mannered, but occasionally he slips up a word here or there. In contrast, he might go over the top about being overspoken to try to 'impress' other races.
Anyway, lemme know if you want a lot of slip ups and he has more trouble speaking well-mannered, or if the current style of play is fine.
