Male Human Bard/Psychologist/Writer.

Welcome everyone! If you are reading this you have been selected to participate in the Last Rites campaign. This thread will be for OOC conversations and downtime RP. Please get to know each other here because you'll be playing together(You can even RP your characters meeting a bit before we start the campaign.) I have a busy weekend ahead of me, but hopefully I will start the campaign on Monday the 16th or Tuesday the 17th. Congratulations again and good luck!!

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 1

Hey all this is, officially, my first PbP run. Thanks Dr. awesome!

After a brief introduction between Angus and Yolk took place, the Paladin was swept away in other affairs for the time and Yolk was left alone to watch the dust clear. Still others to look after, Angus'll be busy for a bit... Best get some o' the fresh gulf air an' meet the flock!

Yolk walked out of the front doors of the temple of Erastil as passersby were moving about, gathering himself up, he scanned the nearby surroundings to get a better bearing on the location.

M Elf Hexcrafter 5 (AC18/12/16), 51/51HP, F7/R4/W7+9vs enchantment, Per+10/ +2Thrasher, Init+4

Hi. Stoked to have made it.

I'll be your party emo boy and Save or Suck/Debuffer specialist.

@Yolk. I took Minor healing hex witch gives me 1/day per person. So to save on channels you can let me share healing duties. I know I hate losing a god bless spell just to heal somebody. ;)

Male Dwarf

Oh yeah Adriel, with hexes do you have to make concentration checks while casting if you're being threatened?

M Elf Hexcrafter 5 (AC18/12/16), 51/51HP, F7/R4/W7+9vs enchantment, Per+10/ +2Thrasher, Init+4

Nah, hexes are supernatural. The don't provoke. Alllriiight!!!

male human

Hi everybody ! I'm really happy to share this story with you all !

Hopefully I will be able to post more tomorrow (sunday), because my saturday is hectic right now x-) !

I look forward to this. I want to cleanse the world of the undead menace already ! I guess I'll be the frontline man slashing through the enemy hordes... if all goes well :-) !

Well, I am really excited about this, as you can see, and it will be my first PbP game too [shakes vigorously the dwarf cleric's hand].

Welcome Adriel, be as emo as you like : I am myself slightly unhinged... and I have this big sword too.

All will be well. Thanks Dr Awesome ! Read you all later. Have a nice week-end !

M Elf Hexcrafter 5 (AC18/12/16), 51/51HP, F7/R4/W7+9vs enchantment, Per+10/ +2Thrasher, Init+4

No worries mate, looks like we have a mix. I am actually in 10 pbp's on these boards right now.

Since this is the first for the 2 of you, I'll let you know the biggest problem is pbp's die without dedication.

2 tips: always try to be the guy with the last post. Even if it's just a line to let us know you're here.
And
Smartphones are your friend. Most new ones have decent browsers and you can favorite your game for VERY quick checkups.

Male Dhampir Cleric (Undead Lord) 2

Hey all, I'm Tim (Harakani) and am playing Arasmes Kemnebi
Looking forward to playing with you all :)
I've played in one PbP before, and it died very shortly after starting...
so I guess I'm new too!

Feel free to contact me OOC if you have any concerns :)

Greetings all!

I'm fairly inexperienced as well (but playing in another that started recently.

This promises to be enjoyable!

Male Varisian Human Sage Wildblooded Sorcerer 2; AC 16, flat-footed 14, touch 12; HP 14/14; Init +2; Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4; Perception +6

Oh, and seeing as we have two clerics, what does everyone think about me swapping out Kn-Religion for either Kn-Dungeoneering or Kn-Local?

That would broaden our skill base. :)

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Hey every one! First time PbP as well but long time pathfinder player. Congrats to the rest of the group that made it in! I'm excited to begin!

Anyone checking out Angus' house at night may encounter Aluar, as he is posted up outside awaiting to speak to the man(at least for a little bit). And it seems like every one else in the group went to the temple to meet Angus!

knowledge local would probably be a great swap Taltosh. Arcana, Planes, and Religion here with a nice huge class bonus on identifying monsters.

Male Human Inquisitor 1

of course it would help if I remember to post as Aluar lol. my bad for the triple post.

Newb question: are multiple posts back to back frowned upon?

M Elf Hexcrafter 5 (AC18/12/16), 51/51HP, F7/R4/W7+9vs enchantment, Per+10/ +2Thrasher, Init+4

Holy Crap!

2 full clerics
2 full Arcane Casters (Witch can Heal)
1 Inquisitor
1 Fighter

Well with 4/6 classes w healing I don't think HP will be an Issue.
My Hexes and Spellist focuses mostly on Debuff/Save or Suck

What are the others going for? The undead lord? You going for undead meat bags or Bad touch cleric?

Just wondering cause it will help the whole team thing (Ironic actually that the fighter is least likely to get his toes stepped on)

Male Human Ranger 1
Aluar wrote:

Not in general play. In combat, yes.

Male Human Inquisitor 1

I was most likely going to avoid any cure spells as the inquisitor. Going along with his RP of Pharasma, if its their time to die....well I'm not gonna stop it, unless they are too young to die.

This could get interesting with the undead lord summoning undead. And Aluar an Inquisitor of Pharasma, who does not like people who mess with the dead, especially ones who raise the dead, as it is blasphemous and thievery from Pharasma. Could make for some interesting RP back and forth.

Male Dhampir Cleric (Undead Lord) 2

Yep :)
Undead Lord is from Geb. He's a cop. He hunts down escaped Gebite undead, and sees they are taken back for a fair trial.

I figured on mostly killing the living with negative energy - he can skip four PCs, and can 'bless' someone with temporary undead state in an emergency. I'm really going to have to work out how to get the +2 cha to exempt the last person... or just stay >30ft away from someone.

If we run into low lever undead he'll try and command them.

While he can create undead, at this point that's pretty much just going to be a single companion. I was hoping to start with a skeleton dog.

Male Dhampir Cleric (Undead Lord) 2

So, testing out how to post using the various tags
Blinded by the sun as he walked out of the temple Arasmes all but walks into a nearby dwarf
"I beg your pardon" apologised Arasmes
Perception test to see if he notices a holy symbol on the dwarf, knowledge religion to recognise it
perception1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
knowledge:religion1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
What do you reckon Yolk, good enough?

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Oh man, sorry to say but Aluar might purge your dog a few times. Undead need destroying. This could be cool Arasmes, I think you and I might be going back and forth a lot. We'll either end up killing each other cause Aluar can't abide you using undead.... or becoming best friends cause I convinced you to destroy them on the spot.

M Elf Hexcrafter 5 (AC18/12/16), 51/51HP, F7/R4/W7+9vs enchantment, Per+10/ +2Thrasher, Init+4

Same issues arise in paladin/necromancer parties.

If it helps remember their is a fair bit of fluff text for the inquisitor about ignoring certain tenets of deity so that they can get the job done.

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Yep that's right Adriel. That's why it will work out! I can bend or break the rules as needed.

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 1

Yeah, good enough Arasmes =P

As you bump into the dwarf, he pitches forward slightly and a necklace of sorts pushes out of his shirt, hanging around the neck of the dwarf, you notice a small wooden warhammer, the standard symbol of worship for Torag, Father of Dwarvenkind.

"Tis okay, you did not cause me any harm friend." Yolk says, regaining his balance and smoothing his shirt, replacing back his holy symbol. "Are you from Sandpoint, or a traveler like mah self who has just arrived on the winds of rumor?"

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 1

Also by the way folks, I made a skype Account, Yolk.Ovelhausen

If you wanna chat with me through skype go ahead and send me a friend request.

Well it's good to see everyone getting along...Sort of. I wanted to run something by everyone and see what you thought. At various points during the game I may not have all my ducks in a row so to speak, so I might need help from you all. I might (from time to time) PM you individually to narrate a section of side quest/story that helps better define your character and make the world feel more real. Does this sound agreeable to everyone? Again I hope this goes well, I'm very excited to start :).

Male Dwarf Cleric of Torag 1

Also, Arasmes. That +2 cha will not be a problem come level 2. Look at my Glory domain, Touch of Glory. Unless channeling isn't considered a cha ability check? Unsure on the technicality

Yeah, since you recruited under heavy RP, I think that is completely acceptable and will breathe more life into your homebrew.

I'm all for it unless someone doesn't respond back and it ultimately ends up delaying posts (which I doubt it will)

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Sounds like a good plan to me. Also very excited to begin.

As for the neg energy burst + touch of glory + undead bless. I will gladly volunteer to stay >30 ft. away at all times from that!

Sounds like a good idea!

Sorry I haven't been posting all day. I'm usually pretty busy on the weekends. However, I can usually get online for a little bit in the early morning/late evenings.

BTW: I'll switch my character's Bloodline Skill to Kn-Local and take Kn-Religion as a cross-class.

"Har har har!" Yolk starts, reeling with laugther. "Aye, a priest of Torag I be, it pleases me that my kin were wrong, not all other races are that ignorant!"

"The name's Yolk. Well met. You are?" Yolk says, offering his hand in greeting.

Arasmes has a feat called Selective Channeling that allows him to ignore up to his Cha modifier in targets when channeling. So no, Touch of Glory doesn't affect it (it's a static modifier).

Arasmes, if you can hold out until 3rd, you can always prepare eagle's splendor

Taltōsh is a Sage Wildblooded Sorcerer, so he'll gain bonus spells from the Arcane Bloodline. As I don't get any more 1st level spells until 3rd, I'll decide what to go for then.

One idea is attack spells that don't require attack rolls, or melee type buffs. We'll see! :)

Male Varisian Human Sage Wildblooded Sorcerer 2; AC 16, flat-footed 14, touch 12; HP 14/14; Init +2; Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4; Perception +6

A cloaked figure approached the two men talking at the entrance of the temple of Erastil. He waited to be noticed before introducing himself. "I am Taltōsh. Have you also agreed to assist Angus McDarrow?"

They noticed that Taltōsh's hand were concealed with gloves, though their innate darkvision allowed them to pierce the concealment provided by his hood to see the man's scarred face.

If it helps, I put together a pretty badass Save or Daze Blaster in the Complete Sorcerer Handbook thread.

Basically it centers around using the Dazing Spell Metamagic Feat on your blasts (Particularly Fireball).

See that Feat means they fail their reflex save (which is a weak save on MOST things) they are dazed for a number of rounds equal to the spell level.

Daze is AWESOME battle control. They stand thier and do nothing. While our Fighter/Inquisitor kill them. The damage is just a bonus and makes blasting effective very effective. (especially while I'm evil eyeing them)

The build for Inspiration:

Traits: Magical Lineage (Fireball), Reactionary

1- Bloodline Arcana- +1Metamagic DC, Familiar, Eschew Materials, Cantrips, Spell Focus (Evocation), Spell Specialisation
3- Metamagic Adept 1/day, Blood spell, Craft Wonderous Item
5- blood spell, Intensify Spell
7- Metamagic Adept 2/day, B- Improved Initiative, Improved Familiar- Nosoi
9- New Arcana 4th Empower Spell
11- Metamagic Adept 3/day, Blood spell, Dazing Spell
13- B-Still Spell, New Arcana 6th, Blood spell, Quicken Spell
15- Metamagic Apedt 4/day, Spell Power +2 (evocation), Blood spell,Spell Perfection
17- New Arcana (8t), Blood spell, Piercing Spell
19- Metamagic Adept 5/day, B- Iron Will,Blood spell, Maximise Spell
20- Arcane Apothesis

Imagine at 16th you can cast an Intensified, Empowered, Dazing Fireball that does 22d6 damage with a save equal to a 7th level spell.

I don't know of any 7 o 8th level spells that will do that much damage at level 16 AND Daze all enemies for 3 rounds ;)

At low levels spell specialisation is awesome.
1- Magic Missile
2- Burning Arc etc.

Male Human Ranger 1

Spellist:

0- (9)Detect Magic, Dancing Lights, Light, Mage Hand, Message, Mending, Ghost Sound, Prestidigiation, Open/Close (No Read Magic- done with Spellcraft and take 20)

1-(5,1,2)Magic Missile (till 4th) (swap for comprehend languages at 4), Identify, Enlarge Person, Feather fall, Air Bubble Protection against Evil, Color Spray, Grease

2-(5,1,2)Invisibility, Burning Arc (4 till 6), Detect Thoughts, Mirror Image, Alter Self, Rope Trick, Minor Image, Glitterdust (swap for See Invisibility at 6)

3-(4,1,1,2)Dispel Magic, Fireball (till 8), Protection from Energy, Fly, Haste, Deep Slumber (swap for Sleet Storm at 8), Summon Monster 3 (swap for Gtr Magic Weapon at 10)

4-(4,1,1,2)Dimension Door, Dragons Breath (till 20), Monstrous Physique 3, Resilient Sphere Dimensional Anchor, Black Tentacles (swap for Ball Lightning at 12) Confusion, Enervation

5-(4,1,2)Overland Flight, Wall of Stone, Dominate Person, Teleport, Lesser Planar Binding (swap for Telekinesis at 14), Summon Monster 5 (swap for Major Creation at 16), Life Bubble

6-(3,1,2,1) True Seeing, Flesh to stone, Gtr Dispel Magic, Cold Ice Strike, Chain Lightning, Planar Binding, Summon Monster 6

7-(3,1,1,2,) Gtr Teleport, Limited Wish, Gtr Arcane Sight, Spell Turning, Project Image, Waves of Exhaustion, Plane Shift

8-(3,1,3) Power Word Stun, Discern Location, Polymorph any Object, Gtr Planar Binding, Maze, Clenched Fist, Form of the Dragon 3

9-(3,1) Wish, Summon Monster 9, Time Stop, Mass Icy Prison

The idea is to make Fireball your go to blast. Great range, big area and cheap to metamagic.

Spells for when to Blast but not hit allies:
Magic Missile,
Burning Arc
Ball Lightning, Dragon's Breath
Chain Lighting.

This lot covers all shapes and energy types so energy resistance is not an issue.
Ball lighting is an awesome damage over time spell (which can be made dazing) and only takes a move action to direct, so you can cast other stuff.

Pretty much all other higher level spells are the defensive/utility staples.

Hope this gives some ideas.

Yeah, I realize how magic heavy this party is, but I was going for characters that most stood out to me and it was really hard when all the ones that really grabbed me were magically/healing oriented. But this should be alot of fun :).

male human

Gryfford arrived near the temple's gates in time to see the hooded man introducing himself as Taltōsh to the pale man and the dwarf.

By their looks I have the feeling these three are not to be found around there usually. Are they strangers like me ? wondered Gryfford.

He advanced so as to present himself to the three humanoids.

"Greetings, fellows. I am Gryfford, son of Marsus the Strong... sometimes called the Unrelenting by the adoring crowd." He paused.

Maybe that introduction was a little pompous... still, that's nothing but the truth he mused.

Gryfford grinned and spoke again: "I am looking for the famous Angus McDarrow, paladin of Erastil and perhaps teller of tales... Pleased to meet you, Taltōsh !... And you too, good dwarf and good sir !"

Actually this can work well. The biggest problem with wizards is thier ability to trivialize problems by always having the right spell. Talosh can't learn all of them and the witch list is restricted, so won't be an issue.

Male Dhampir Cleric (Undead Lord) 2

not sure what the ettiquette is when responding to multiple posts...

Arasmes extended his hand to Yolk, and with a slight bow introduced himself
"I am Arasmes, the son of Izora, who is the daughter of Kemnebi."

After Taltosh arrived he offered his hand, and introduced himself to this new man
"I am Arasmes of the line of Kemnebi. I am hunting a fugitive from my homeland - I suspect that this fugitive might be behind the incidences here."

In response to Gryfford he looked impressed, and then pleased.
"You are kind, Gryfford the Unrelenting. My grandfather is nobility, but I myself have still to earn a title - or a cognomen. Please call me Arasmes."

"I still have some money in my pouch - rather than wait here in the hot sun blocking the door, why don't I buy everyone lunch. We can leave word for Angus - and any others - to join us when he is free?"

male human

Gryfford looks pleased.

"Thank you, Arasmes. Lunch's a good idea for sure".

He points up the street: "There's this inn nearby. It's called the Rusty Dragon... If the food is as interesting as the owner that should make a good meal" he adds pleasantly.

"I'll buy the beer... or wine if your tastes go that way." To Yolk: "Knight dwarf, I've heard that dwarves are great ale drinkers : is that true ?"

M Elf Hexcrafter 5 (AC18/12/16), 51/51HP, F7/R4/W7+9vs enchantment, Per+10/ +2Thrasher, Init+4

Finally when the paladin arrives he is accompanied by a rather sinister looking elf. Wearing an Armored Kilt and an armored belly plate belt, both armored Black leather and carrying a Longsword and bow, yet he is slight, certainly not strong of arm. His arms, despite him being slightly armored on the torso remain bare showing only dark, cryptic tattooes along their length.

He takes in the group with a distracted air. Well met, I am Adriel, first and last son of Sandpoints druid, Talsharra. I am the 'new' witch in the woods, as it were.

Male Varisian Human Sage Wildblooded Sorcerer 2; AC 16, flat-footed 14, touch 12; HP 14/14; Init +2; Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4; Perception +6

Taltosh eyed the newcomer with an inner smile. This should prove interesting. As my grandfather used to say, 'A witch can make a good ally--but also a frightening enemy.'

"Well met to you as well, Adriel, first and last son of Talsharra. I am Taltosh. These others, who've I've just met are Yolk, Arasmes and Gryfford."

male human

Gryfford scratched his stubby chin and looked at the sinister looking elf.

That's a witch by looks and name, for sure he mused.
Apparently, Sandpoint's inhabitants do not burn them at the stake like they do in Tymon. Different country, different ways, I suppose. Well, as father said: Live and let live, unless they try to kill you.

Besides, he decided after shooting a quick sideways glance a Taltōsh, looks can be misleading.

Gryfford looked at the armored kilt and armored belly plate belt of Adriel with an air of professional interest.
Those would look nice in the arena he thought.

Finally Gryfford gave a curt but polite nod to the elf witch.

"It's like Taltōsh said, he adressed Adriel. "I am Gryfford the Unrelenting, son of Marsus the Strong, formerly gladiatior in Tymon, in the River Kingdoms, and still man of martial means. Well met, Adriel the witch."

Male Human Inquisitor 1

Adriel, does wearing the armored kilt with a haramaki calculate as if you are wearing medium armor? I believe the kilt makes any light armor it is added to medium armor, which would count for the haramaki.

Also when we post interactions with the NPC's are we allowed to assume some of their actions or should we wait for DM response with their reactions? Presently I have Aluar at Angus' house awaiting him but if he doesn't answer I'll have Aluar head to the inn once everyone arrives.

Male Dhampir Cleric (Undead Lord) 2

Arasmes starts to explain his bloodline, then stops himself no-one recognises the name anyway, so I might as well be Arasmes of line Arasmes. Who knows, being out of Grandfather's shadow might be my making.

"Hello Adriel Talsharra, Angus. We were just thinking of discussing the situation over some lunch at..." he looks to Gryfford for confirmation as he continues "...the Rusty Dragon"

Male Dhampir Cleric (Undead Lord) 2

tweaked my equipment and added an appearance.
