Round 1

Elyna quickly steps to the side and starts to throw flames at the man, hitting him squarely. Ref: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 The man catches on fire, and weeps louder.

Tannan moves forward and throws a dagger at the man's direction before he can react. Ranged: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 The dagger has little effect.

The robed ailing man casts a spell.

Spellcraft DC 16:
It's cure moderate wounds.

Pahleg stays vigilant, ready to act.

Araden finds the enemy odd.

The robed man sobs one more time and starts casting a spell, but never finishes it because two beings fall on him and crush him. While loud, his death takes only a split second, so fast the two beings fell on him from above.

Dust settles, and the party gets a better look at the two attackers.

The first one is a human man in athletic shape. The man's face has masculine features, but his eyes are covered with a blindfold. He wears steel armor, but only on his legs and arms, with leather protecting his torso. His right hand holds a bastard sword that is now dripping with the robed man's blood. Topping this build is the red cape that neatly descends after the fall. Looking at his rugged yet valiant demeanor brings to mind the idea of an underdog hero.

The other is a burly juggernaut. To call him human or even humanoid would greatly undervalue the size of him and his arms. The brute's face is hidden behind a gruesome, horned helmet which matches the steel plate armor he wears. The gauntlets of his that'd fit an ogre hold a thick, massive dark steel greatsword that has enough scratches and dents to say that it's been used in thousands of battles.

The juggernaut stomps the robed man's corpse, in the manner one crushes an ant out of malevolence.

"Hey I just set that one on fire!" Elyna, now surrounded by whirling flame, protests with false indignation just before stepping a little closer and directing another lashing blast of flame from the torrent around her at the nemesis.

Tannan, looks up at the towering behemoth that towers over him. A visible knot enters his throat, but he chokes it down.

Oh s!~$, what have I walked into?

Tannan, begins to move around the enemy, hoping to avoid their giant blades of death. He moves away, waiting for the equally giant of a man in Araden to get into the fight.

I'm not sure whether I get a Round 1 Action or if I should post now but I'll go for it.

Araden raises his bardiche as the two true foes drop and crush the first man. "This seems more familiar." With a grunt he steps forward, bringing the massive axe around in a devastating swing. Charging so my top-left square is (CF, 23) and attacking Nemesis Farland.

Round 2

Elyna lashes a flame at the nemesis, but it flies past him.

The vanguard dashes to his left, twists to turn back, and attacks Tannan from the right.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
conf: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
The slash from the vanguard's blade is strong. Luckily half the damage transfers to Pahleg.

Tannan (Yeah you're right you should've been within 30 feet of Pahleg. Moved you 5 feet back, to CF23) tries to back away while avoiding the vanguard's attacks. Luckily the vanguard does not pursue him, and Tannan is able to throw a dagger at him.

Pahleg calls a thundercloud on the nemesis. Ref: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 (Dice are dumb.) Despite his bulky size, the monstrous enemy avoids the electricity. The cloud stays on his location.

The nemesis glares at Araden, as if to challenge him. (Delays so we can group the initiatives.)

Araden (Well you didn't post any action for round 1, but then again it shouldn't matter that much unless you wanted to hurt the bait-and-switch boss) charges the nemesis. Araden's massive axe swings at the nemesis, and meets his equally massive greatsword as the attack is blocked.

Pahleg keeps the electricity on the same opponent, and then also summons a spiritual longsword to strike him! He also moves forward so that Tannan can maneuver more.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

Elyna pulls in more fire forming it into a small orb between her hands. "Let's try to focus on one at a time." she says and looks at the vanguard "As for you! You still owe me a burning body!" with that releases the small ball of fire at the vanguard.

Gathering power and using burning Infusion (reflex DC 15)

Round 3

Elyna releases a ball of flame at the vanguard, but amidst the melee battle it misses.

The vanguard swiftly moves behind Araden, but instead of attacking him, his body begins radiating blue light. To the party's dismay this light seems to strengthen the nemesis, as if he wasn't menacing enough already.

The nemesis moves next to Araden (Araden gets an AoO) and strikes him with the enormous greatsword.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 4 = 21
Damage: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2) + 9 = 15
CMB: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 4 = 32 (Your CMB was 16 as enlarged, right? Str 18, Dex 10, size +1, BAB +1?)
The greatsword hits Araden to his side. Not only was the hit devastatingly wounding, it also carried enough force to move him. Unable to withstand the force, Araden flies over the platform,
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (4) - 6 = -2
and falls more than hundred feet, to his death. YOU DIED

Tannan (Hm, these two's actions have denied Tannan the opportunity to flank.) moves behind the vanguard seeking a back stab, but just then Araden is sent off the ledge. The vanguard evades his attack.

Pahleg redirects the thundercloud back to the nemesis. Ref: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 It zaps the juggernaut. Pahleg then summons a spiritual longsword to hack at the nemesis, but this seems less fruitful than the thundercloud for now.

Round 4

(These two bosses can do some tricky stuff with movement, so I think it would be better if I posted them first so you can react to them. Otherwise your posted actions may be negated.)

GMPC Elyna hurls another ball of fire, this time focusing on the nemesis.
Ranged Touch Attack (Elemental Overflow): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 4) + 5 = 14
Ref: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The fire burns the nemesis.

The vanguard dashes behind his back stabber (Tannan and Pahleg get AoOs) and attacks Tannan.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Tannan is hit again, and again half the damage transfers to Pahleg.

The nemesis does the same trick again, attacking from the front while the vanguard is behind Tannan.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 4 = 18 (Your AC was 17 + 1 from the Shield Other?)
Damage: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (4, 4) + 9 = 17
CMB: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 4 = 16
Again the massive greatsword connects and draws blood, but fortunately Tannan is able to deflect some of the force, and does not fly over the edge.

Male Human Medium (Reincarnated) | HP 35/35 | AC 20, touch 11, FF 19 | Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +5 | Init +1, Perception +6 | Lamb, Order of the Sheep

Yep, CMD would be 16. There's no avoiding it.
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 8) + 10 = 21

Araden valiantly strikes against the Nemesis once more, but when he is struck by the fiend's greatsword, it carries him into the very air. With a heavy grunt and a loud clang, his body smashes against the wall, and he tumbles down into the pit, out of sight and into the darkness of death.

For now.

The vanguard once again moves around the battlefield, moving around Pahleg and ending behind Elyna (only Tannan gets an AoO because neither Pahleg nor Elyna threatened any of the squares), and attacks her. Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Elyna dodges the vanguard's attack, but...

The nemesis also attacks Elyna, with the vanguard flanking her.

Damage: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (4, 7) + 9 = 20
CMB: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 4 = 32

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
but she manages to get a grip off the edge and does not fall down, and now holds on to her dear life. (Now she must make a DC 10 Climb check, failure by 5 or more means she falls.)

Soul of the Isaac, the Chaos Vanguard.

Once an achieving mercenary hero, Isaac accepted chaos as the world's savior when the Miracle took his father. To oppose the twisted world order of the Miracle and to find its source, Isaac fought his way into the Labyrinth alongside Farland, where he was taken aback by the fiendish tyranny.

When worn, this sturdy and macabre helm grants its wearer a +2 bonus on CMD, and a +1 competence bonus on Intimidate and Survival checks. Its wearer has a warped sense of time and space, allowing its wearer to make Knowledge (planes) checks untrained.

Farland of Coelia was a self-made orphan and the land's strongest man, and when he was invited to the army led by Last King Ereme, in the war against the gods, he was forced to comply. With his own hands he hauled this helmet from the decapitated head of a time god, or so the legend says.

"Ah, so Araden didn't make it?" he sighs "Well, he'll be alright because of the covenant."

(Quite. Now is the time for level-ups. I don't know if I said this anywhere, but even those who died during the boss can still level up.)

1d6 ⇒ 4

Like in a lucid dream,
you know you are just dreaming.
What a peaceful feeling,
but you know that you must rise.
After all, someone is waiting for you.

The fog wall on the other end of the bridge dissipates, and the party sees a small room on the other side, with another one of those large statues depicting a seven-headed dragon. Knowing that Araden passed away only temporarily, the party takes a break from exploration. The newly-obtained dual souls of the vanguard and the nemesis keep their hunger saturated.

Some four hours pass, and true enough, Araden returns in the form of gathering dust, brought from afar by a sudden gust of wind. Invisible hands mold the dust into Araden's shape. He's alive and well, as if the high fall that felled him was just a step down a ladder.

With Araden's return, the party finishes exploring the other end of the bridge. Tannan scouts ahead, taking a peek behind the statue. Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

There is a moderately spacious room behind the statue, and, ignoring the anvil in the middle of the room and the two dragon statues, the most noticeable thing are the two people in this room. One of them is a broad-shouldered man in dark, spiky armor, who rests sitting against the wall, his zweihander leaning against one of the dragon statues.

The other person is facing away from the dark warrior. He bears a standard-issue knight armor, one that is seen all over the world. A shield and a claymore are strapped on his back. He seems to be idle.

The two don't seem to notice the observing party.

The idle knight turns to face you, and speaks from beneath the helm. "Greetings, then," says the knight, with a female voice.

"I am Lea of Raetas, knight of Ravensmount Castle. I am in search of hero Michael's band of knights," the female knight introduces herself. "My quest has lead me here, to the blacksmith of Dragon Cathedral. But it seems the blacksmith is absent." She motions towards the anvil.

You acknowledge the other knight in thorny amor. "We haven't talked," says Lea. "Neither of us aren't much for talking, it seems. But you broke the ice. He arrived soon after me. After seeing the blacksmith absent he sat down without a word. Not long after the gate of fog appeared. I had little interest in fighting, and neither did he apparently."

You eye the knight of thorns cautiously. He continues to sit against the cathedral wall, his face hidden beneath the spiked helm. "Kirk."

"Do you know where the smith has gone?" Lea asks.

"Well met Lea of Raetas, and Kirk. We have not even heard of this blacksmith, but he seems like a person we would be very interested in meeting. Would you like to work together to try to find him? Perhaps the fog wall has something to do with his absence."

"Ravensmount castle....", Ulrich says. "I served there myself. Seems like another life now though it was only days ago. I am Ulrich. Do you have any notion of what this blacksmith looks like? Or anything you would share about this hero you seek?"

"Certainly," says Lea to Pahleg. "But I can't stay here for too long. We should search the surroundings for clues. May I ask your names?"

"I can't say I've heard of you before, Ulrich. But Ravensmount had many people serving the lord's castle."

"The reclusive blacksmith of Dragon Cathedral is a male half-elf, I've heard. Known for having an impaired eyesight, but has an eye for detail. I'm sure you'd know him if you had met him."

The female knight still hasn't revealed her face beneath the helm, and ignored the question on the hero she seeks.

Kirk sneers. "Lighteyed Nikarch. Had some kind of deal with the general. Man could be dead by now for all we know."

"Ah, of course, how rude of me. I am Pahleg, also known as Lightning Pahleg." He lets the other introduce themselves or introduces them each in turn.

Pahleg nods. "Yes, let us begin searching. You are already more experienced in this matter than us so feel free to lead the way."

"Wanderer Araden," the armored man introduces himself, bowing slightly as he does so. "I cannot claim familiarity with your story or the man you seek, but I would be honored to assist in your search."

Ulrich looks around the room, hoping to find anything that might indicate the smith's departure.

"We had hoped to find another route up to the Throne, since the General's guards do not seem trustworthy in the least and the rest of Hellfire has vanished. I would imagine the only route remaining is around the dragon in the cathedral...."

Unlike the sulking thorn knight, Lea says the pleasantries. "It is good to meet you all."

Ulrich notices the blacksmith didn't leave as much as a "be back soon" sign to signal his absence. Aside from the anvil and heaps of crafting materials and smithing tools, there are few clues.

(Rolling Perception for everyone.) Araden and Tannan notice signs of fighting: small amounts of relatively flesh blood on the floor, erratically placed materials and tools, dents in otherwise pristine goods, and so on. It seems the smith didn't leave voluntarily.

"Oh yes, the dragon. That posed a problem-"

"It's a drake," Kirk interrupts.

"Is that so. In any case, I don't know or care about any routes to Hellfire," Lea says. "If that's what you're looking for, why don't you search the Cathedral while I search someplace else? Kirk?"

"There are other blacksmiths. This one ain't special," Kirk shares his views.

Slightly earlier in the conversation: "Elyna." the gnome introduces herself with a slight bow of the head.

Back up to speed:
"Yes what exactly is it that makes this blacksmith special?"

Tannan, as he gives a quick nod. He canvases the area, and notices bits of blood and dented material.

Hmm, it appears the blacksmith didn't leave of his own volition. I wonder if those damn devil things took him? They certainly seem to have their own agenda?

Sure, we can search around here, while you two look for clues elsewhere. The more eyes the better.

Once the two new people are out of earshot, Tannan in a low whisper looks to Pahleg.

I found bits of blood around the smith. As well as some of material is dented, as if some sort of confrontation took place. I am unsure who or what has happened to the smith, but I can only presume it was not done willingly.

Araden also glances around, and is about to share his findings more loudly when Tannan whispers. "Mm, yes. It seems something is amiss here."

Lea responses to Elyna: "I heard the blacksmith forged weapons for several Explorers before moving here. I'd like to ask if he's seen a certain Explorer."

"If that's all I'll get moving them. I leave the Dragon Cathedral to you all; I'll go back to Asuera's Prison and search there. May peace be with your campaign." The Raetian knight starts to move towards the bridge.

Kirk stays where he is, for a while at least.

"Asuera's Prison? Hmm. I don't know if I've heard of it. Good luck, then. I expect we shall all need it."

Ulrich turns to the rest of the party.
"We seem to have hit another dead end. Should we try moving past the drake? Or has our quest been in vain and we need to return to the asylum?"
