This is the official recruitment thread for a game held in a homebrew setting I've been wanting to flesh out.
* Magic does not exist, psionics do. Brief history in spoiler below.
* Guns Everywhere. This means advanced firearms such as revolvers and rifles are common. Other tech will exist but will not be immediately available. Brief history in spoiler below.
* 2 posts per day minimum, would prefer more most of the time.
* Paizo material only, with exception to DSP's Ultimate Psionics
* 25 point build
* Core races, in addition to Blues, Elans, Half-Giants, and Maenads are playable. Not that I dislike other races, just that I'd like to keep it simple while I flesh out my setting
* No E, no C-N
* 2 traits, or 3 with a drawback. Must all be taken from different categories
* Max hp at first level, half +1 beyond first
* Max starting gold for class
* Please format your character sheet as close as you can to this. Everyone's sheet being the same just makes it sooo much easier for me in the long run. The closer you are to this example, the better your chances
* I'm not requiring a backstory since I don't yet have much of a backstory for the setting. If you decide to write one, I prefer it be simple so that it still makes sense as I begin to flesh out my setting.
The civalized world consists of numerous mountaintop settlements that formed when the low lands became uninhabitable. Travel to and from settlements is mostly by airship. The land below holds many ruins, but is extremely hostile and unable to house settlements.
Only a generation ago, a race of aliens known as illithids found a way to the planet through some sort of gate effect, which sparked the birth of psionics. The event is now known as The Awakening. What they seek is not known, but they hesitate none to kill any and all in their way, in the most brutal of fashions. The illithid were tracked here by a race who hunts them called the githyanki. They brought with them technologies never imagined, but are dangerous to barter with.

An example of the character sheet we could get the format for through copy/paste would be a huge help.
I agree, the problem is that it's not really one size fits all. I wrote the example myself, no aid from herolab or wayfinder. As close as you can get would be good.
I edited above to reflect this post.

Put it in a non-spoilered post, or even more than one if needed, and then we won't have to spend ages typing in [b] or [/i]. We just hit "reply" then select it all for copy/paste.
What do you think of Paizo's Kineticist, from the Occult Adventures playtest?
Hmmm... I just tried to do that for ya, but my character sheet has spoilers of it's own in it which were omitted. Suggestions?

I looked over the playtest last night. I thought the classes were ok, but don't wish to use magic of any kind for this setting.

Without the ability to "Quote" a profile, copy/paste turns into this.
DEFENSE
AC 13/17, touch 13, flat-footed 10/14 (+3 Dex, +4 armor when mage armor is active)
hp 20 (2D6+1D8)
Fort +1 Ref +6 Will +5
Elven Immunities Magic sleep and effects, +2 vs enchantment spells and effects
If I want to bold things, I'd have to do it manually fir the entire character sheets, and that's a big turn-off for me. :(
I'd suggest either put it in a post(as I suggested in the post you quoted) so we could copy/paste the format easily after quoting it, or use DnDSheets.net for character sheets like this.
Re: Kineticist
If we ignore the word "magic" it's not a magic class. It's a psychic one. What are Psionic characters? Psychic. ;)

So if I were to ask if I could put up a character here, maybe posting for the Captain place, with a Trapper/Freebooter combination, what would the response be?
If so, I would like to ask if I could discuss the possibility for traps being more tech than Magic, seeing as some of them might be a bit too... Weird?

jimibones83 |

@Nick There's no captain position, lol. Victor mislead you! Characters start off at level 1, airships cost nearly 100,000gp. You can work toward that goal if you like though:)
As for traps, any type of tech resembling anything past steam will belong to the githyanki. At some point I'm sure you'd get a hold of some of it, but I'd recommend a few levels first.
Also, I'm just realizing I left "level 1" out of the character creation spoiler. That's pretty vital, Im an idiot.

As I said in the other thread I'd be interested in playing a soulbolt, but it's from the advanced psionics guide. Is that a problem?
That reminds me...
I forgot that for some reason archetypes were left out of Ultimate Psionics. For this reason, the archetypes from Advanced Psionics will be acceptable.

Okay, so. For clarification: SRD has two pages, one which is linked to via Errata (in other words, I believe it is the version that wins).
0th level psionic powers can be used for 0 power points as long as you have psionic focus, but you may only have one running at a time. You may also spend one power point to use another without ending the other. That's what the errata page says.
The spell pages themselves say to spend a power point or -expend- psionic focus to cast. Which is it?

Those are psionic talents, which are technically an optional system. The powers are actually 1st level, but provide a very minor benefit. Thus, they can be used for free via expending your Focus.
You can also just manifest them normally, with augmentations as allowed by the power itself. That's where the 1 pp comes from.

This is close, but not quite accurate.
0 level powers, known as talents, can be used for free as long as you maintain a psionic focus. If the duration is longer than instant, you may only have one in affect at a time. If the power can also be used as a 1st level power, or augmented, then the minifester may do so by expending the appropriate amount of power points. This type of manifestation does not require a focus nor does it stop the manifester from maintaining another talent requiring a focus.

Here is the link to Lan Minerva. Ignore the pointed ears in the image :p.
There's currently no backstory written. The backstory I have in mind is pretty complex, and it's tied into a homebrew campaign that I did a long while back. Ironically enough, Elan is pretty much a perfect fit... as the Minervas are basically a secret society of augmented humans in the other world... it seems to fit great here, as well. :)

@Hotaru Your formatting looks wonderful. However, I do have a couple small requests. If you could change your race and class/level fields to include the exact info I included in my example, that would help me access the information I use most frequently without having to leave the thread. Also, notice how the examples skills are formatted.
Other than those 2 small things, it looks great!

Hotaru of the Society |

:P Also fits for the Minerva thing: Minervas were really new to the world at the time. While the people in charge had been around for a very long time (financially wealthy, etc...) the 'ground troops' were basically a bunch of kids pulled off the streets and altered to their needs... :3
Edit: Updated the sheet.

I should specify now then, I have no intent on using a pantheon of any sort. A popular belief will be of reincarnation, but it is by no means proven in anyway, and not all people follow it.
PLAYER KNOWLEDGE!!! The material plane is used as a sort of breeding ground by extraplanar beings. Which way you choose to fan your spark and how bright you choose to to let it shine determine your birth upon death. However, these other beings and realms will remain unknown to the material plane for now to allow me to limit my focus as I flesh out the setting.
