Gideon Ross |

Gideon almost takes advantage of the opportunity to beat a hasty retreat, but stops himself. He frowns, looking back in the direction of the unconscious woman that was only in that state due to his quick tongue getting the Dottari off of his tail. Strange though it may've been, he feels guilty, almost as if he abandoned the woman in some way.
He instead if fleeing, he waits alongside the remainder of those who have yet to make their retreat. If they flee, he flees; if they stay and fight for a few more moments, he will do so as well.

![]() |

Xeno will perform a fighting withdraw trying to give the general populous as much time to escape but not allowing the Dottari time to surround her. Standard action attack (to do damage this time), move action half move (15ft) using acrobatics to avoid AOO
The square was a lot emptier than 10 seconds ago but there were still many trying to make their escape. Xeno eyes the advancing line of Dottari, time to go, maybe a few more can get out if I distract them for a little longer, a bit of blood might motivate them
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 = 21 Arcane pool
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Acane pool
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 target: their CMD or they get an AOO

Tom Quicksilver |

Tom was nervous, he had given the masked woman a chance to escape, but she was waiting for stragglers. He looked back to where the crowd was running to, and then back at Xeno. He wasn't sure what to do.
His debt was paid, he felt that at least.
But he wouldn't abandon someone to the Dottari, they had been far more vicious since the Night of Ashes. Tom hides behind a shrub.
What are you doing Tom?
Tom Readies an action to provide a distraction if Xeno gets in over her head. Or flee if she flees.

Melia Henderthane |

Melia stands there at the edge, watching others escape but holding her ground. "Come on all, move! Get out of here! Live to fight another day!" She was using her free hand to gesture for people to move out of the area while with her other hand she kept her blade ready should a dottari or, more likely, a thug try to give chase.
So just standing there shouting, not much else to do.

DM_Kumo Gekkou |

Jonah and Raven are able to slip into the alleyways. There are a few Chelish Citizen Group thugs stalking the alleys, but its easy to avoid their patrols if you take your time.
No rolls needed.
Xeno makes a quick slash drawing blood from the thug, who stumbles back and away from her blow.
Melina stands defensively on the edge of the crowd waving people past.
Tom is able to find cover in the shrub.
Gideon joins Melina in helping the crowd get away.
Thug #1 continues to bleed out, but finally stabilizes.
1d20 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 3 = 14
Thug #2 having been wounded by Xeno turns to flee.
Two Dotari grab Thug #4 and pulling him along go after Melina and Gideon.
Double move puts them 15 feet away from the two of you.
Initiative Order: Xeno, Melina, Tom, Gideon, Chelish Citizen Group, Dotari Guard

![]() |

"Coward!" she shouts after running thug. Turn she sees the large number of protesters fighting and yells to them "We can't win today! Help someone escape. Save a friend and yourself" Xeno models this by rushing to a bashed young woman and trying to help her feet and away.
Happy to take AOO in doing this. Do you want a roll to influence the crowd?

Tom Quicksilver |

The madwoman in the mask wasn't leaving until as many protesters were safe and rescued as possible. Tom looked longingly away from the park for a moment, escape now would be so easy. He looked back, and forth.
Tom you idiot, what are you doing?
He runs over to the masked woman.
"Ma'am, are you mad? You had an opening, the longer we hang about here, the harder it'll be to dodge the dotties." Tom is yelling over the sounds of the crowd.
He sees two Dottari and a Chelish Citizen's Goon head towards a woman carrying a shield, and an entertainer he recognised from the protest. They were only guilty of shepherding people away from the madness.
From where he's standing Tom flips a knife in his hand and throws it at the Goon. He's seen what their type are like, the sight of their own blood sends them packing.
Move near Xeno, then throw a knife at Thug #4. Whether Tom hits or not I'm hoping it'll divide that group's attention.
Throwing Knife: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 Not sure what distance I am, but dagger has 10 ft increments.
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 If within 30 ft add sneak attack (assuming he's flat footed against me) Sneak Attack: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Gideon Ross |

Finally understanding the true meaning of the phrase "Discretion is the better part of valor," Gideon follows Melina's leadership, heading as quickly as he can for the nearest side street or other exit that would allow him to escape the furball.

Melia Henderthane |

Seeing the two dottari come her way she smirks, "Two dottari coming after a poor lonesome woman? Didn't your mothers teach you any manners? You should be ashamed of yourselves."
She lowered her blade and was ready to run, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere else to be. Why don't you two get back to Barzillai, his boots are probably in need of a good licking."
Full round to get away. Melia wants others to be safe but she isn't crazy

Tom Quicksilver |

Would like to Retcon my action, seeing as the others would be fleeing. Instead of throwing the dagger, I'm standing near Xeno with a readied action to throw a dagger at anyone who approaches us. You can use the same rolls as above.

DM_Kumo Gekkou |

Sure Xeno I'll roll it.
Xeno Diplomacy Check: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
3d2 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) = 5
Xeno's cries to the crowd seems to fall on deaf ears. The outcries of rage overwhelming the good sense of the gathered mass.
Tom takes his blade and readies it to throw.
Gideon and Melina seeing a chance at escape take it, fleeing into the alleyways.
The thug continues to push past the crowd after Xeno when a dagger suddenly comes flying from seemingly nowhere and catches him in the shoulder. Gripping the stuck blade, the thug turns and flees back to the Dotari. He points out the boy who trow the knife as he flees.
Move action towards Xeno, Move action back away intending to flee.
The two Dotari split up, one heading to Xeno, the other to Tom. They push past the crowd using their shields to part the interlopers and their maces as threats to part the crowd. Once in range they swing at their targets, with seemingly no thought given to mercy, luckily neither one finds their mark.
Dotari attack vs Xeno: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Dotari attack vs Tom: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Initiative order: Xeno, Tom, Dotari

Tom Quicksilver |

"Oy!"
Tom yells as he sucks handily under the mace's swing.
"That's the problem with you dotties. You just watched a man steal a boy's dagger, and you come and attack the victim of the crime," Tom grins wickedly.
"Lady, as much as I'd prefer not to see this lot of true Kintos get hurt, I'd really prefer not to get killed."
Full Withdraw to escape.

![]() |

"Can't do much to help those that don't want to be helped." After giving a mock curtesy to the dotari she withdraw after the plucky kid.

DM_Kumo Gekkou |

Having escaped the riot, you all find yourself navigating alleyways near the Opera House, avoiding the Chelish Citizen Group members who prowl the alleyways for protesters.

Johan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Raven: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Johan and Raven, hear the sounds of clashing steel along with a cry of pain from a nearby alley, and spot a group of Chelish Citizens' Group thugs just as they knock a man to the ground. Four unconscious thugs lie sprawled nearby, and it is obvious that the remaining thugs are preparing to finish their fallen victim. The man in question is dressed in finery with a single black glove on one hand. One of the thugs spots you, pointing his mace threateningly encouraging you to move on.
Johan and Raven are there now and may act. Melina and Gideon you will arrive in 1 round, with Xeno and Tom arriving the round after. There are currently 5 thugs conscious.

Johan Felder |

Finally fed up with what has been going on, Johan advances on the thug with the mace and attacks with his rapier."For Kintago!"

Johan dives forward with a wild attack. The thugs take up arms and move after the bard. The alleyway is wide enough for 4 people across. They move in, three in front and two move to flank the bard, swinging lethal blows at him. Only one finds his mark with a blow catching the bard in a heavy hit.
Thug 1, 2, and 3 move and attack. Thug 4 and 5 move to flank and avoid AOO and attack.

Raven moves to the corner of a building taking cover. She draws a bead on the thug that hit Johan and looses the arrow which is deflected by the unaware thugs armor. Gideon and Melina enter the alleyway just after Raven looses her arrow. They see an unconscious man down the alley and the young girl and bard fighting against the Chelish Citizens' Group thugs.

To Tom as they retreat "Nice one kid. Good to see the youth keeping their heads when our elders lose them, mkae you think, better time are coming."

Tom Quicksilver |

"Not my first run in with the dotties. But the name's not kid, it's Tom, what do you call yourself?" Tom asked, as he guided the masked woman through some lesser known back alleys.

Melia Henderthane |

Melia remains silent as she sees the thugs come after two people who seem to have been trying to defend someone taken down by the Chelish thugs. She doesn't not say a word and instead charges into the fray, blade first.

"Not my first run in with the dotties. But the name's not kid, it's Tom, what do you call yourself?" Tom asked, as he guided the masked woman through some lesser known back alleys.
"You can call me Xeno, best not to use real names. If we don't know the answers no amount of Thrune's foul magics will force it from our lips ah?"

Gideon Ross |

Gideon gives a low groan when he rounds the corner, only to see more thugs before him. "Great. Didn't we just leave this party?" he says aloud, though he is clearly not talking to anyone in particular.
Seeing the others continue the assault against the Dottari that had begun on the street, he decides that the old saying "When in Absalom..." seemed quite appropriate in this situation and advanced on the closest enemy. No point wasting spells when there was plenty of action to be had. The magic could be spent later.

Sorry about being quiet yesterday, had something come up and was unable to give a proper post.
Round 2
Johan seeing some much needed allies approach, takes a step back and uses the distraction. Inspired by their aid, Johan puts his rapier into the Thug with an impressive flick of the wrist. Gideon charges the same thug giving him a lick with his mace and finishing the one Johan injured, while Melina rushes forward attacking another Thug and surrounding Johan to protect him from another flank. Raven looses another arrow at the Thug Melina struck. A splattering of blood pouring from his throat, signaling that she has killed him outright.
Seeing two of their allies fall, the remaining three are enraged moving forward to attack the interlopers.

Melia Henderthane |

Melia winces as the thug strikes her, "So you're not entirely useless then. Good." She grins. The hit would leave a nasty bruise but it would heal. The cut she'd make on him would not. "It means I don't have to feel guilty about killing you."

Raven will move up 15' and to the far left of the alley (but not into melee), trying to get a clear shot on Thug #3 (or any remaining thug if he drops before my turn). Still using Precise Shot and Point Blank Shot.

35ft to the gap, never mind.
"Here in the allied aye you are out numbered. Run back to safety before it's too late." xeno says as she advances. When she gets close she again carves the daze rune into the air and with a word in infernal releases at one of the thugs.
30ft move leaving xeno 5ft from the gap in the line. Cast daze (dc13 will save) on the middle thug.

Tom seeing the fracas in the alley, Tom climbs a nearby drainpipe, and runs along a gutter to get into an advantageous position. Hopefully staying out of sight.

Round 3
Tom quickly scampers up the gutter and onto the rooftop. He starts across the sloped roof and on his second step a shingle gives out under him. Having not gotten his proper footing yet, the boy comes tumbling back down into the alley, landing prone with a thud.
Xeno casts her spell, and the Thug seems stunned for a moment. Johan uses the lax in his guard to put a rapier into his shoulder drawing blood.
Gideon takes another swing with his mace at his own target. Melina glances to see if she can move to a better position, but it seems impossible to do so carefully while so close to the wall. She resigns herself to attacking her opponent and gets another good slash in on him.
Raven moves her way forward firing another arrow into the fray and getting a strong hit on the thug. With two of them severely injured, the thugs attempt to flee the area, abandoning their unconscious, dazed, and fallen allies. They retreat and turn down another alley to run. Only one thug remains, trapped by Xeno's spell.
Withdraw action and moving 60 feet away.

Thug #4 Will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Gideon attack on Thug #3: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Gideon damage on Thug #3: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Thug #3 2 HP
Thug #4 9 HP, Dazed until Xeno's turn
Thug #5 4 HP
Round 4 Order: Tom, Xeno, Johan, Gideon, Melina, Raven, Thugs.

![]() |

Xeno swaps her rapier to her free left hand and uses her now free right hand to draw a simple 'X' in the air. With a word it attaches itself to her finger tip. Stepping forward she reaches out for the thug's hand but is too slow as the thug pulls away.
cast arcane mark, 5 ft step try to touch thug to place the mark. I might well be taking too many actions but hoped you might over look this as it wouldn't have any real game effect, given the roll it does really matter if you don't allow the touch anyway
touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damn, oh well he might not realise. Adjusting her plan on the fly she closes her hand covering the mark."You have just been marked, this one time I will let you leave so that you might correct your path. But understand that I will recognise you should we cross again and you won't be give any more chances." Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
The others might still kill him, but that isn't my problem.

Raven will move toward the fallen victim (assuming no Thugs are near enough to attack) and see if he is still alive.
Raven doesn't have any ranks in Heal, but she will try anyway

With the Thugs running away, Johan attempts to help Raven with the injured victim. "Maybe he has some information about what this was really about...."
Aid another heal check
Heal Check: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Melia Henderthane |

As two of the others moved to help the injured man she held the dazed thug at sword point. "Drop your weapon. Do not let me catch you harassing innocent people again. If I do you'll wish I just killed you right here. Understand? Now run like your cowardly friends!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Tom Quicksilver |

Tom stands up, rubbing his poor injured bottom, flanking the dazed Chelish Citizen's Goon.
He grabs the coin pouch off the thug's belt, and pockets it in his large coat.
"Didn't you hear. Old Man Thrune instituted a stupid tax, turns out you have to pay double," Tom's quip comes off more bitter than he intends mostly as a result of his embarrassment for his failed flashy trick.
Steal Maneuver: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
+2 to steal Maneuver if Flanking

DM_Kumo Gekkou |

It would take a double move to get Tom in melee of the thug. He would have room to get into a flank though. I'll let the steal be your AOO as he flees.
The moment Xeno's spell wears off, the thug beats feet away after the others. As he withdraws Tom, takes a swipe trying to steal the thugs belt pouch, but is unable to get it loose before the thug is past him.
Johan and Raven are able to aid the group's victim enough to bring him to. Taking a moment to get his bearings, the man finally takes out a potion and drinks it. His wounds seem to lessen as he imbibes the magic elixir. "You have my thanks friends, but the streets are not safe. I would speak with you if you are willing. I know of a safe place where we can speak privately, and it would give me a moment to catch my breath from all of this."

Melia Henderthane |

What an odd man. Sure, they just rescued him from a bunch of lowlifes and made it so he would live another day but he treated them like old friends. "Are you sure that location is safe? I fought enough of those thugs today. If you're not sure I have a home in Redroof which I know is safe." Nobody had any reason to look there so far and her grumpy neighbour hated the Chelish more than he disliked her. "Unless you are afraid of dogs that is, though mine are generally quite docile."

Gideon Ross |

"If you can guarantee the safety, I'll come along. I think you're more in need of it than the rest of us, if I may say so, sir. If you need any help getting to this safehouse you've mentioned, I'll offer what help I can. These Dottari...they've turned into no more than thugs in the streets. Treating people with this kind of barbarism is going to blow up in their face, sooner or later..."

Tom Quicksilver |

Tom sighed as his money ran away. He turned back to the man who's rescue he accidentally joined.
"Look, the streets are hot right now, this fella here has good reason to look favourably on us. Let's not quibble as to where we go? Lead the way guvnah."
Tom takes one last scan of the alley for any valuables that might have dropped in the scuffle and follows the group.
Perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

![]() |

Xeno glances back out of the alleyway. "We do need to get moving, do you need a shoulder to lean one?" She asks the recently wounded man.
Xeno sizes Melia up quickly She holds herself well, capible in fight, interesting weapon choice and touch of an accent, I wonder if they clues of her orgin. then speaks quietly to her "If you want to keep your home and family safe its better not to show others where it is. I don't believe any of these people are informers, but the right magic could turn any of us into informers. This man has less choice lets but to trust us, and I don't think he'll be taking to his home."

![]() |

Xeno has no interest in killing pawns. That said she won't stop you, (she will just keep it in mind for later).

Melia Henderthane |

Melia doesn't really care whether they are alive. If they're lucky enough to live they got more than they deserve and she hopes they'll make better decisions in the future.
"You've got a point, but it doesn't really worry me." If informants were there to find her they'd have done so already, she was sure of it. Besides, she was all their was.
She turns away from the others for a moment and moves over to the downed thugs. If they managed to get out of this they sure as hell did not need their weapons and maybe she could figure out it if her family supplied them.

DM_Kumo Gekkou |

I would prefer if you guys handled the discussion of killing the remaining thugs in character rather than out of. That having been said, it is easy enough to tell while searching for loot, one is dead, the other is unconscious and stable.
Searching the two downed thugs, they are wearing each wearing a suit of black and red studded leather armor, each wields a light mace, they also have a set of manacles dangling from their belt, and each of them wears a bronze pendant with House Thrune's family seal around their neck. Between the two thugs a total of 8 gold pieces can be found in various coins.
The man will lead you to a bookstore not far from Aria Park called Crissali's Fine Tomes. He requests a back room and is able to move into the room provided. He give you all a few minutes to get settled before speaking.
"Thank you again for the timely rescue. Truth is, our meeting was no coincidence. I have followed some of your work against House Thrune since the Night of Ashes. I planned to meet you in the protest earlier today, but in the panic that erupted I lost track of your group. You proved yourselves to be people of uncommon skill, and I am a man of uncommon needs."
"My name is Rexus Victocora, and until last week's Night of Ashes, I was one of the city's nobles. My parents' estate burned to the ground that night. I escaped simply because I was studying a the Alabaster Academy during the fire. There were other fires that night, as you know, fires that many believe were started by Barzilai Thrune or his agents in an attempt to squash any spirit of rebellion Kintargo might have.
Now more than ever we need that spirit of rebellion to stay strong, but Thrune's actions have driven into hiding those who would stay strong and resist. Those who could once rally the city to a cause, such as Lord-Mayor Jilia Bainilus and my parents, are missing at best, and are more likely dead. I cannot do this on my own, but with the aid of talented citizens such as yourself, I have hope that we can. Will you aid Kintargo? Will you save the city from the devil?"

Melia Henderthane |

Melia grabbed the maces, the manacles and the pendants from the downed thugs. She gently closed the eyes of the deceased one saying a small prayer to no god in particular.
She'd part with the items if others wanted to have them, she just wanted them out of Thrune hands.
---
Melia listened intently at the man. "My name is Amelia Hender..son." There was a hesitation at the end. Could she trust any of them enough to give her full now and not have them overreact or worse, rat her out? "But I'm called Melia."
"What is it that you want from us? I would help Kintargo if I could but I fail to see how. I see no way to remove ourselves from Thrune short of evacuation and it's not like we have anywhere to go."
