Regarding Numalar's post regarding purchases: I'm going to ignore it, entirely. Here's why: One person should NOT be making purchasing decisions for the ENTIRE PARTY. Please come together, as a group, and decide what is being sold (and possibly bought for everyone's use), and allow anyone who wants to to make purchases for themselves afterwards do so.

Sorry if that was a problem; I was just trying to move things along. You were asking us to hurry up.
How is everyone on provisions though? We are going to be out here for a while. I have I think 5 days worth (have to check my sheet). Numalar will buy the provisions out of his own share if nobody else speaks up. It's only 7 gold.
How much gold does Oleg have to give us? Can he buy it all?
EDIT: Also, how many characters are taking horses?

Hey guys.
I've been talking in private with SDM and I've decided I want to come out and offer you guys an apology.
It's been pointed out to me that I am often going too far with my posts, making big plans for everyone and taking things for granted. My behaviour has been very presumptuous.
So I want to apologize to everyone. I don't mean to ruin anyone else's fun or push people around. It is a group game and everyone should feel comfortable having their say.
I have been pretty excited about this game and I clearly have a lot of time on my hands, so I have tended to go on and on and think up a bunch of grand plans. And when other people fail to post responses I had been assuming assent when in actuality my long posts are making some people uncomfortable replying.
Again I apologize, and as I have already told SDM I will try to tone things down. Please feel free to tell me to cool it if you think I am crossing the line.
Hopefully this will clear the air and we can move forwards without any bad feelings.
Peet AKA Numalar

Avery Starr |

As one person who has admittedly been feeling a little uncomfortable but tried to grit teeth and quietly bear it, I'm glad to hear that the issue has been recognized. Apology fully accepted and hopefully things will gel better from now on.

Ansha |

Guys, I know Numalar has stood up for the lives of the prisoners but that doesn't mean that I agree with that as a player; it's merely how I see Numalar's sense of honor reacting to the situation as it played out. I was always willing to be outvoted.
So this might be a good chance to "get the LG characters out of the room while the chaotic guys do their thing." If Numalar was sent off after Happs with Cal offering to "watch the prisoners" then once Numalar (and likely Karsh, who seemed to have the same views) are gone then you can do what you want. There would be an obligatory rant when Numalar discovers what happened which you can all ignore if you want.
We'd have to do it soon though before Numalar clues in to what you guys are saying. BTW my sense motive is only +1. :)
It seems awfully early to revisit this particular issue, but I admit to feeling stuck now. Avery and Linora would rather leave the rest of the party behind than wait for the bandits to be dealt with, and I don't know which would take longer--to get the bandits ready to move, or to just hang them. (Ansha's not going to be the one to hang them anyway; she'd rather not get her hands dirty.)
I'm also not sure whether we can make two trips--one to chase after Happs, a second to attack the bandit camp after presumably returning to the trading post--in the same day, and the longer we delay the more likely the bandits at camp are to think something's happened and be prepared.

The Smiling DM |

It looks like everyone is preparing just to head out after Happs, except Numalar, who is asking about what to do with the other bandits.
Do I have that right?

Yeah, more or less. Numalar will start to pack things too, but doesn't want to let the prisoners out of his sight.
I'm trying to give the execution group an out if they want to act unilaterally.
SDM: If five of use are riding out would our trail be easy enough to follow by the sixth party member without having ranks in Survival?

Avery Starr |

I suggest splitting up temporarily. I'm not sure anybody, even Avery, wants to do executions in this rush, and we can't just leave them alone with the Levetons. Maybe some should stay to watch the prisoners while others chase down Happs and then return to rejoin. I doubt it will take all six of us to defeat him if we do catch up.

Okay, works for me.
SDM, I couldn't find a stat block for a mule anywhere but I assume they are slower than horses. I'm also guessing that I can't ride a light horse on my own.
If I can ride a light horse on my own or if a mule can keep up with the horses I will do that; otherwise I will ask to double with Karsh. Numalar with salient gear weighs less than 40 lbs. I think, so hopefully that's not a problem.

The Smiling DM |

Numalar:
Donkeys and mules have the same statistics as ponies.
Nothing is preventing you from riding a light horse on your own. It might be a bit more difficult, but it is quite capable of carrying a gnome. I mean, hell, elephants are capable of being mounts...
Everyone: Sorry I've been quiet. I'm out of town for business training, and I've been a bit run down afterwards each night. I'll be back home tomorrow afternoon, and posting should pick up on Saturday again.

Calinthas "Cal" Aldimay |

So a question of alignment... I realize in hindsight that I made Cal neutral good, yet with his present attitude towards the bandits, I feel that I'm way off the mark. I think somebody in this group needs to do this for our own safety, and while I have no problem with Cal being that person - maybe an alignment change is in order, perhaps at least to neutral?
I don't know, what are you're thoughts folks? When I'm running a game, I tend to challenge players when they occasionally stray far from their alignment disposition, and I think it only fair I hold myself to that same standard. Luckily, it's early in the game too, so best bring this stuff up here and now.

The Smiling DM |

I try to shy away from alignment, as a rule. It's there to act as a guideline, not a straightjacket. Now, if Cal continues to act as a murderous bastard, without any regard for life, then I will call for an alignment change, but hanging a couple of murderous bandits? Not grounds for a shift, imho.

The Smiling DM |

I'm sorry. Do I see a player questioning a quest reward? >:D
Edit: I've added a picture of Oleg and Lana to the links above. Shame not to use the wonderful art in the books. Should have posted the picture of Happs, too. Will do that here in a second... now: Happs

Holy crap 250gp for some veggies? Those have got to be some damn chocolate bacon and unicorn sparkles tasting veggies. :D :D :D
Depends on how many hit dice they have. :)
Like the Radish Spirit from Spirited Away. :D

BTW, for the record Numalar is using the form of transportation that least inconveniences the rest of the party. If that's his own horse, then that's fine, though he will probably need help getting on. Also he won't take a horse if that means there aren't enough riding horses left over for Cal and Ansha.

Maybe we can have some kind of sidecar rigged up. One with a mount for a repeating crossbow! :)

![]() |

Sorry for the questions, I'm just trying to get a visual idea of what we have found.
The tracks ... lead up the river's bank for several miles, until the river reaches a natural ford. The tracks lead away from the ford, into the forest. Though the path winds a bit, a wagon can be seen several dozen yards in.
By this do you mean that the tracks cross the ford and lead away from the river to the other side? Or do they continue to follow the river on the same side?
Is the wagon open or covered? Does it look old and abandoned, or is it serviceable?
Also, how thick is the forest growth here? Will straying off the path count as difficult terrain?
EDIT: BTW I think I figured out why the Moon Radishes are worth so much. "Moon Radish" is a another term for "Were-Radish."

The Smiling DM |

By this do you mean that the tracks cross the ford and lead away from the river to the other side? Or do they continue to follow the river on the same side?
The river (and thus the ford) are on your left. The tracks lead off to your right.
Is the wagon open or covered? Does it look old and abandoned, or is it serviceable?
Open. You can't tell anything else about it from here. Without being on the horse, Numalar wouldn't be able to see it, at all.
Also, how thick is the forest growth here? Will straying off the path count as difficult terrain?
Yes.

The Smiling DM |

I'm sorry! I actually planned on continuing this one...and then I rebuilt my wife's computer and we've been playing World of Warcraft again...
I....would like to continue, but every time I think to come make a post, it's when I'm at work or about to go to sleep or otherwise not at my computer. And when I sit down at my computer, I'm logging in to WoW.
I don't think I can realistically continue. I'd like to, but my attention is several places elsewhere. I'm so sorry. :(

Well, it's good that you told us rather than just disappearing.
Guys, are we going to seek a new GM? If so, how does that work?
