Quince Medvyed |
Round 9
Quince looks from the standing bandit to Katrina to Tristan. Quince looks more confused when Tristan strikes he looks at the standing bandit trying to ascertain if they are complying with Katrina's orders.
sense motive if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
I will move my token depending on the result.
Angeus |
Round 9
Lying low, Angeus waits for the staglord to emerge. In the meantime, she takes the time to concentrate, then tap herself on the shoulder a couple of times.
She then moves to a slightly better postition.

GM Wolf |
Round 9
The elves/bandits are now all down. None of them seem to be trying to get up. I won't be able to change the map until tomorrow
Round 10
The thugs/elves are all out cold or appear to be that way before Quince and Tristan. The one that ran SE is likely long gone as the other two struggle to the North, 15 feet for both of them.
Tristan Morgan |
Round 10
"Angeous end this spell. Let me finish this."
Tristan delays for Angeous to dispel the entangle.
His movement reflects a double move he makes when the vines stop moving.
Kevros Droverson |
ROUND 10
Kev continues to run north towards the Stag Lord and his thug following the outside of the entanglement spell so as not to get trapped. He then stops to take a shot at the Stag Lord,
Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 4 = 18
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 4
(-1 Bolt, Hala, Kev's warhorse is on guard)
"We should focus on both just in case what appears to be familiar, isn't?"
GM Wolf |
Round 10
Angeus hears Tristan and dismisses her spell. Tristan moves into the forest after the Stag Lord, still slowed down by the vegetation but none of it is trying to ensnare him. Kevros shoots and the bolt hits but skims off the Stag Lord's armor.
Round 11
The Stag Lord and thug continue to the North, another 30 feet.
Angeus |
Round 11
From her hidey-hole, Angeus sets her sights on the hated Stag Lords , waiting for the perfect moment. As she does so, she runs her hand over her crossbow, muttering under her breath...
True Strike
Kevros Droverson |
ROUND 11
Kevros pauses to reload his repeating heavy crossbow and readies it just in case he is attacked after reloading his crossbow.
Then Kev "WHISTLES LOUDLY" for Hala, his war horse to move her and the group's herd closer.
If she and the rest of the herd come trotting up, he tells her to stay once he can see them to keep them at a safe distance.
Quince Medvyed |
Round 10
Quince picks up his crossbow. Darn it I need a regular bow. This thing is dang slow. Quince trots off clockwise around the area of spell effect.
Round 11
Quince stops his trip around the perimeter to load his crossbow.
Tristan Morgan |
Round 11
"Angeus stay ahead of him and keep firing. Quince, Kevros get the horses if you must and cut him off. I will follow no matter where he runs."
Tristan keeps on his path as he advances keeping pace with him and his bandit cohort.
I moved the bandit and the stag lord up 30' and moved Tristan up 30' as well, double moving following after.
Quince Medvyed |
Quince realizing that the spell has ended and seeing the Stag Lord moving away yells in Celestial for Scram. Hopefully we are rushing into more snares.
Scram rushes forward.
GM Wolf |
Kevros that would be a handle animal check.
The horses rush up, half to Kevros the other half to Quince.
Round 13, 14, 15
The Stag Lord and his thug continue into the forest. Shooting at them has 10% concealment for every 30 feet from you, round up. Take your actions, unless something big changes nothing will be changing until round 18.
Quince Medvyed |
Round 12
Quince fires his crossbow at the fleeing Staglord.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 2 = 13
Quince climbs into the saddle, stowing his crossbow. As Scram trots toward the enemy.
Round 13
Quince draws his Morningstar and shield as he rides toward the fleeing bandits. He will not flee again.
Assuming they are heading away from us. Scram can move in front of the furthest bandit with a full round move. I moved Scram and Quince thought it is likely further up into the woods where we meet up. I am assuming the trees prevent charging.
Round 14
Scram continues to pace the fleeing bandit. Quince strikes his morning star down on the fleeing bandit. And Scram lurches about kicking at the man.
Morning star Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Hoof: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Hoof: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Hoof maybe?: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Angeus |
Round 12
Angeus smiles as the Staglord and his lackey come nice and close. She draws a bead on his Stagyness, and fires.
Attack, True Strike: 1d20 + 6 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 20 = 46

Crit Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Round 13
Angeus rises from her hideyhole and easily paces the Staglord and thug, they struggling mightily throught the underbrush, she breezily steps around, over and between...the easiest path through the foliage.
Then she stops , reloads and fires at the Warden's most dire enemy.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Move ( Woodland Stride ) then Attack
Round 14
Keeping about 20 feet away, Angeus shadows the Staglord's flight, sidestepping through the trees and bushes, finally taking a knee and firing another bolt at the Staglord.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Move ( Woodland Stride ) then Attack
LOL, i can keep this up all day :)
Quince Medvyed |
I may have not accounted for the difficult terrain. Scram has movement to spare though 4x50 on the full round move.
GM Wolf |
You cannot normally run through difficult terrain, but if you want to there would be a 30% chance that the runner would be tripped. If you want to push your horse to do so, roll and describe how you push Scram. Yes the trees prevent charging.
There is difficult terrain for about 200 feet from the clearing.
Rounds 13
The Stag Lord turns towards Angeus, breaks off the bolt with a grimace, and shoots two arrows at her with a grunt of disgust. One hits as she dodges away from the other.
Bow on Angeus: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 2 = 27 damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 = 8
Bow on Angeus: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 = 15 damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15
Angeus I did not realize you were that close and after striking him with a critical changes much, you can keep your actions, taking a 5 foot step back, a whole move action, or even a full retreat if you desire for one of the rounds.
Stag Lord's AC 19
67-17=50
Quince Medvyed |
I would not want to trip. Can I double move. I assume they are double moving to make 30 a round. That would still give Scram 100 feet around on a double move which is half speed.
Angeus |
Since the Staglord stopped to attack Angeus....
Round 13 Redux
Grimacing from the arrow sticking out of her thigh, Angeus nonetheless is pleased their foe had stopped running.
Looking down briefly, she see's the wound isn't that serious as the arrow merely cut her ,and didn't stick.
Smiling impishly at the angry Stag Lord, she wiggles her fingers at him, then passes the other hand across her body....disappearing from view.
Vanish
Now invisible, she quietly moves to a different location, ready to fire again.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 20 = 34

Angeus barely nicks the Stag Lord with her bolt, but nicking his neck.
Quince and Kevros advance as Tristan comes face to face with the Stag Lord and slashes at him but the blade is deflected by his armor.

Round 15
Quince and Scram come through the forest and attack the stag lord to the other side of Tristan giving him flanking as thier attacks are dodged or at least absorbed into the armor. Kevros rides in... Tristan swings? Angeus reloads before shooting again?
I am more than willing to flank but Quince was trying to hit the bandit just ahead of the Stag Lord. Unless he went down or surrenders and I missed it.
Round 16
Quince and Scram continue the assault on the bandit trying to deny the Stag Lord his last ally.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Scram rears up hooves kick toward the lackey, biting toward the man as he comes crashing down. Quince times his downward blow with the force of Scram's weight behind his strike yelling in Celestial.

Katrina Dewtree |
Round 19
She holds her sword out pointed at the Stag Lord and sings to encorage all her allies, +1 to attack and damage, the men beside her she lets shoot freely and does not attack them.

With a horse now behind him he rolls away, to the side before standing again and shooting at Quince. The Stag Lord fails to evade well enough and takes Attacks of Opportunity. Tristan slashes him twice and the Stag Lord falls.
The elf thugs advance with Katrina bows down at their sides, but ready in case the Stag Lord has more surprises.
End of combat, unless someone wants to continue, Angeus you may still take your shots if you wish as Quince can still get his AoOs in as well.
Kevros Droverson |
You all realize, the GM killed the Stag Lord because none of us could hit the side of the barn door very often ... lol
Kevros yells out in Elvish,
Kevros looks to the group, "We need to make sure this scum is dead and make sure it is truly the Stag Lord?! I wouldn't put it past him, to have one of his soldiers dress up like him!"
Quince Medvyed |
Round 20
Quince sees the Stag Lord's movements and presses the advantage. Scram lunges trying to get a bite in and Quince swings his morning star.

Tristan Morgan |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Tristan stands over the body. He looks up to the sky as he drives his sword through the mans heart.
"Ragathiel. You have giving me just vengeance. From this day forward I am your servant and vengeful protector of this land. Mother, Father, be at peace. My soul is no longer in torment but now has purpose. We will see each other again one day."
He draws his blade from the mans chest and wipes it clean on the dead mans clothes. He then looks to his allies.
"You all have aided me in my quest. As long as you seek to protect this land I will avenge those wronged here and be with you. Thank you my friends."
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros smiles, "Is it indeed the Stag Lord? We should make sure."
Quince Medvyed |
Quince slides from the saddle and regards Tristan. "Thank you. We are not the only ones who have lost dear ones to the lawlessness of these lands. Your pursuit of justice touches many lives."
Quince is shaken from the moment by Kevros' question, "How would we know? Its a long way back to Oleg's one of our hires might becable to ID him."
Quince turns to the body. Kicking weapons away before checking if the man still lives.
heal: 1d20 ⇒ 19
"Katrina you might have a better idea. I can cast the spells but I do not understand bodies."
Quince stands and looks about to see if the horses are accounted for. "I left another fallen one over there. I will bring him back this way. We should gather at the statue." And if necessary, "We need to gather horses to. I figured running our quarry down might be priority."
Quince regards the bandits that seem to have abandoned the Stag Lord silently. He glances at Kevros silently checking if its safe to move off.
Quince grabs Scram's reigns and walks toward Angeus, "You are full of surprises." He winks and smiles.
Tristan Morgan |
"It is him. I have seen him fight now three times. I know my prey."
Well I assume it is him. I will let the GM decide if Tristan really knows due to studied target.
Kevros Droverson |
Kevros looks at Quince and shakes his head, "Let them go, the Stag Lord was their glue and I told them what would happen to them if we see them again being thugs in the Stolen Lands. Let's make sure this is indeed the Stag Lord first." Since Tristan made sure this man that looks like the Stag Lord is dead, Kevros begins to search him with his gloves on.
Quince Medvyed |
Quince returns (Assuming all goes well) a few minutes later with the unconscious (or dead bound if not dead) bandit that fell to the north. Quince walks next to his faithful horse carrying the weapons of the fallen man with the body draped over Scram's back.
"Did all the horses stay close?" Quince starts to scan for the other horses. "Is this the only other bandit that fell?" Quince looks in Kevros' direction, "Anything interesting with the blasphemer."
Angeus |
As Tristan finishes off the Warden's foe, Angeus bursts from her hiding spot and runs over to her friends.
She slaps the taciturn Tristan on the shoulder, "Well struck, Tristan!" she enthuses, looking down at the fallen Stag Lord, face flushed with excitement, twigs and leaves tangled in her hair.
She looks up at Quince's observation, and smiles, shrugging, "It's strange , these powers...they're me..but also not me."
Crouching down she watches as Kevros searches the body of the Stag Lord.
Quince Medvyed |
Before riding off while talking to Angeus
Quince's smile turns bemused, "Perhaps all of us are stranger than we seem." He seems to reconsider his openness.
Katrina Dewtree |
Katrina comes up and looks incredulously at Quince and says, "Really, a blade through the heart kills most things especially humanoids." She walks over to Tristan and lays a glowing hand as she whispers a prayer. She then asks, "anyone else need healing?"
3 cure lights: 3d8 + 18 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) + 18 = 23
Quince Medvyed |
Quince shrugs, "Sometimes the heart is missed. But I guess you are right . . . we'd hit him again I suppose."
"Perhaps those who sided with us against the Stag Lord will know is this one deserves mercy. He might yet live I suppose." Quince points to the body he brought back. Not the Stag Lord
Angeus |
Angeus looks over at Katrina, then at the elven thugs, looking at them the way she does any elf he meets, directly...wondering...is this one the father? the one who left?
Then she sighs and asks Katrina, "So, these ones. They saw the error of their ways?"
GM Wolf |
Quince found the bandit in the North and bound the unconscious thug. The other horses are easily rounded up. The three besides Katrina stay near her and follow as instructed though their bows still stay in hand.
On the Stag Lord is a composite longbow, arrows, strange leather, a pack of sorts, a longsword, and his helm.
Katrina Dewtree |
Katrina looks at them and says, "I will let them say their story and you can tell me if you believe it."
GM Wolf |
One of the elves pulls back his hood revealing the classic chiseled looks and pointy ears of his heritage then introduces himself, "I am Heian Amastacia, and these are my brothers, Tharivol and Quarion. We have a camp a few hours from here, that is where the Stag Lord made his plea. He said he wanted to rid the woods of humans and was willing to be our guide but there was a pesky group that had been a thorn and might be a problem to us. He used vague words and tricked us in helping him attack you. We are sorry for our actions and wish nothing more than to find a tower of father's. We wish to rest his remains in the tower that he built here in the Stolenlands."
Upon closer look you can see that the three elves are all wearing light armor, have a longsword, bow, and a quiver full of arrows. They appear well equipped for a fight but not long exploring.
Heian then tells you about the other men, "The stag guide brought those two men with him. We know little about them."
Angeus |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Angeus regards the elves seriously for a moment then nods, satisfied with thier honesty.
"A tower, eh? Can't remember coming across one of those..." she says, looking hopefully at Quince.
Tristan Morgan |
"You were deceived then. I will not judge you as one of his men, but be weary of the plea of strangers."
