I'd cast mirror image when we arrived, then promptly forgot about it. I started with 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 images.

Seres starts in alarm as the invisible tentacle wraps around him. He targets the thing holding him with a laughing touch. The creature cannot control itself and bursts into laughter for a few moments.

1 round can only take a move action, but it can defend itself.

Round 6

Ezekial feels his blades slice through on both strikes, causing the tentacle to thrash and tighten around him. Ezekial notices that the cold iron kukri meets more resistance than the magical blade.

Larsia lands two solid shots into the trunk of the abomination - eliciting shrieks of pain from the creature.

Veronica and the hounds continue to battle against the wisps.

Seres sees no obvious effect of his enchantment on the tentacle.

Kess casts a spell and dancing lights begin the orbit around a space near Ezekial.

Round 7

The will-'o-wisps continue to attack Seres, Connor and Larisa without success.

Ezekial sees the brush in front of him displaced as something large lunges and mauls him with a furious bite (14 points damage). The tentacle continues to constrict (3 points con damage).

The tentacle on Seres begins leaching his blood (2 points con damage).

Kess feels an invisible tentacle stike and wrap around her (9 points damage and you are grappled).

Larsia once again pounds the abomination with two more bolts - drawing more inhuman screams from the creature.

Kess heals herself as the tentacle tightens its grip.

Ezekial attempts to cut at the invisible maw attacking him but can't penetrate its thick bark.

Seres tries in vain to cast a spell but fails as his life force ebbs and wain.

Veronica begins singing a hymnal to Erastil and the area around her begins to shimmer with divine energy. Tendrils of smoke effuse around the invisible tentacles holding Kess and Seres before both tentacles release their victims and pull back from the shimmering circle.

One of Veronica's hounds, Freki, is able to catch one of the will-'o-wisps in his jaws and nearly destroys it.

Connor and Whitetalon destroy one wisp and badly damage a second.

Round 8

The remaining will-'o-wisps attack Seres and Larisa to no effect.

Ezekial is again savaged by the creature's maw (12 points damage). The tentacle continues to constrict (1 point con damage). A second invisible tentacle wraps around him (9 points damage).

Seres destroys the wisp attacking him with a series of force bolts. Connor and Whitetalon manage to destroy the last will-'o-wisp.

You see the nightmarish, monstrous creature withdraw into the darkness of the tower ruins.

Sorry. Trying to decide what to do. Can we tell where the creature is or at least what side it attacked from? Connor is mounted. Is both he and his mount grappled?

Did this take an hour? Magic circle against evil is 70 minutes.

Veronica urges the wolves forward and moves up to touch Connor.

Casting protection from evil on Connor. This should renew his protection (which was previously forfeit by attacking the creature) and force it to loose its physical contact with him. And this is one of the few times where "lose" and "loose" are interchangeable!

The wolves will move forward cautiously and start using their Scent ability to pinpoint the creature.

I'm referring to the third feature of protection from evil:

The magic circle forced it off before, so protection from evil should have the same effect now. Since Connor attacked the creature he broke his opportunity to use the benefits of the magic circle but this is a new application of the spell and may renew the effect?

So you think this is a summoned creature? If so we should have let the duration of the summons run out. :)

Round 1

Seres fires where Kess directs but the shot is wide.

Ezekial stands on guard, ready to strike.

Kess surrounds the invisible creature with faerie fire.

Larisa fires her crossbow, but the shot ricochets off of the stone wall providing cover to the creature.

Veronica imbues Connor with a divine ward.

Round 2

The invisible tentacle releases Connor as Veronica approaches. You hear the creature move away from you towards the wolves. A tentacle hammers Geri and grapples the worg (7 points damage).

Everyone is up. Connor can retcon his first round action.
