I had actually planned this earlier, but hadn't changed it yet. Hope it's still OK. It is not a major issue for me, I can keep the basic domain if the change is not allowed.

  • There are some minor things to finish in my character, such as picking traits, I have two already selected and want to reflavor one, keeping the same mechanics but a different fluffy. If chosen I'll run this modification with you and see what it can be done.

  • Based on the trait selection, I'll probably change one skill point, to get stealth as well. (highlander trait)

  • I'm yet to select a bonus feat. Will do that if selected.

  • Still missing the adventuring gear. At the present moment, the only sure thing I purchased is a morning star and a dagger. I'll finish it as well in case I got picked up for the game.

    This was the first play-by-post combat I've done. I'm curious, what sort of style does everyone think to be the most effective (or what docuucprefer) for doing PbP combats? Specifically considering ease of reading, flavor/fun, and time to write it.

    Usually the GM posts his actions and the story outcome of the actions of the Players. So its a back and forth game till combat ends =^^=
    Players dont know the stats or if their attacks/manuvers hit. So they guess. :P

    Though I do admit, its strange to be the one reading about the Alchemist blowing themselves up, rather then BEING the alchemist who blows himself up. Heh, D'ahia was a fun one for me to read and I think Jamahzin would be jealous that someone almost took his "Shoulda burned the place down" as a recommendation, even if it was just blowing up parts of it instead.

    If it wouldn't add more to the confusion, I'd want Norvallen trying to do something still to try to help. Though admittedly he wouldn't take a fool-hardy charge into another mess, injured as he is, but he does have his 'batons'(Read Lungchuan tamo) and a crossbow.

    Definitely a fun read through all the scenes, to see how people fared and reacted.

    Heh. You mentioned it a while back here in discussion. I find it useful to have something said, no matter how badly, when using a language others may not understand in character. Just for keeping actions with words together easier.

    Part of the application process is due one part RP, and seeing how well you handle the RP of combat as well.

    So you want those two rounds of chaos and panic as you rush towards the tavern and get face to face to those things trying to bite your legs off.

    Wouldn't hurt to further explain how the attack & damage bonuses and saving throws get their modifiers from. Skills usually benefit from being shown well, if only to show where the Ranks are and how many you have spent and where.
    Not sure if I understand Dragon Form here well, but I don't have the source book for "Spheres of Power" either, so no clue.

    ... Personally, I'm going to have to steal the "Goals" from yours and possibly a "People" subtopic I saw someone else have to separate the plot-hooks for the DM to easily pick from rather then just the background, to give myself a better chance at being picked.

    I agree with Norvallen. You can't be too careful. I'd make sure the GM can easily figure out precisely from where everything is coming. I'd describe the effects of any feats or traits you have and (I was extra picky myself) exactly from where they come.

    In my case, for example, I have six feats at level 1. At first that sounds ludacris, but then you read that one is my level 1 feat, another is the bonus feat he gave us, then Skill Focus for being half-elf, then a bonus monk feat, weapon finesse for being a rogue, and finally stunning fist for being a monk.

    It helps, I think, to point out where I got all of those so that the GM isn't just like "why the heck does this person have six feats?"

    You'll need to scale your gear back significantly. If you recheck the Recruitment board you'll see we have 200gp starting, a map, and 1 non-noble outfit (as well as any class-granted starting items).

    Masterwork items are outside your budget, as are firearms, and
    you can maybe afford 1/4 of the items on your crafted item list (even at reduced crafting cost).

    I copied Jonathan Haykes' formatting, as it appealed to me most. I like the idea of a flowing narrative, obviously based on the mechanics, but with the mechanics hidden on the side to allow the narrative to flow.

    oh, you're a machine smith, hmm, i wrote up a 1/2 caster version of the machinesmith a few weeks ago. seems like a good class, haven't seen it in action though.

    I was using rich parents, however you are right in that my alchemical items were off, I had been debating on whether I wanted some of them or not and forgot to delete them out in my hurry.

    That is where an escape plan comes in handy.

    Such as a Crossbow with a Grappling Bolt + Silk Rope loaded into it (Get up high!), a Mount spell ready (Run!), and even some Lamp Oil to set something on fire (Burn it to the ground!).

    True, but the Crossbow and Grappling Bolt also allows dramatic swings that levitate can't pull off, so it wins. Only a whip could make things look better, but it can only reach so far.
