Servayn Krolz |
Well you guys do heal each night in the wild for Level+Con Modifier.
Level + Con mod? P 191 suggests just HD / level per day, although I may be missing something.
Can the horse be saved? Servayn asks, abandoning his longspear in the carcass for now while he checks Ember's state, choosing not to dismiss and reconjure him, until he knows if Janku is going to be calling upon Gorum's grace to heal the fallen mount.
In any event, we should probably haul the carcass up onto that boulder, he says, pointing at the large boulder behind Janku, so that the carcass will bleed out and the meat will not spoil. Master Garick no doubt has the skills to show us how to carve the brute, once it's bled...
Servayn Krolz |
Servayn does what he can to assist, both with the hoisting of the boar and with the preparing of it for butchering, asking questions as he does, obviously seeking to familiarize himself with the ways of the outdoorsman.
He also, given a free moment, casts minor incantations as they go, causing wounds upon the beasts hide to seal up, particularly around it's head, which he recalls someone would like as a trophy.
Mending spells, now that Tuskgutter has made the myterious magical transition from 'creature' to 'object.' :)

Ooohh....that's where that was. I could not find that section. So I just went with our usual House Rule. Which I have no issue with you guys going with, especially considering clerics can just zorp everyone back to full with Channels at the end of the night...
While the pig is skinned, gutted, and quartered Lukasz searches the nearby lair. Inside of the boar's den is the half-eaten corpse of a hunter. Checking the body reveals several items.
-broken masterwork longspear
-a copper ring, there is an onyx set in what looks like an animals eye.
Servayn Krolz |
Should we bring the body back or bury it here? The ring should be enough for someone to recognize it. Servayn says.
The gear should be repairable, and I would be quite interested in
the longspear, if no one else is interested...
Holding off on the decision to dismiss / recall Ember to see what is up with the horse and whether or not Janku will be using Channeling. If not, he'll resummon Ember and allow him to enjoy the assorted organ meat and limbs and whatnot that would not be suitable to carry away.
Lukasz |
"Hmm. yes. The ring is rather unique looking and might be identifiable by someone back at Olav's, or possibly by the hunter we met, if we happen to come across him again." Lukasz says as he slips the ring into one of Clip Clop's packs.
"Let me know when you are all done carving the skin and sinew from the boar's head and I'll clean it up a bit so we can bring it back to the hunter who wanted it."
Until the others are finished carving the boar up, Lukasz simply keeps an eye out for any danger that might come along.
Servayn Krolz |
I honestly think that you guys did all the work, and he just skewered himself by biting my spear... Servayn says, still a bit shaky from the combat. The beast was so huge, and his big clumsy longspear that always looked so impressive was like a tiny stick between him and certain death.
Janku Tolliver |
Janku now completely ready for combat emerges from behind the tree at a full run Greatsword above his head..."For the Iron Lord" he bellows..., just in time to see the great beast slump to the ground bleeding out. Looking a bit abashed he quickly recovers and turns around in a circle finally just planting his greatsword into the ground by the body of the great boar..."And his many thanks for guiding my companions in their vanquishing of this great and worthy foe".
He then quickly surveys the killing grounds, and wrenches his greatsword from the ground, and heads towards the bleeding animal. "Gather with me he says as he again plants his sword into the ground, as we give formal thanks to the great Lord in Iron, and ask his mercy to tend our wounds.
Janku has used his 1st level spells for the day, but hopefully the channels will affect the horse as well...If not sorry!

That should put the horse at around 8 HP.
Corso the ring seems to be of little worth in your personal opinion. Perhaps Oleg might be more familiar with the craftsmanship. It does feel slightly warm in your hand despite the owner being long since deceased.
As the waves of healing energy wash over Kalsgrim's stead. It kicks and carefully stands to it's feet. There are a pair of partially healed wounds across it's chest.
Mastermind |
A boar this size takes quite a while to butcher. The sheer amount of meat is mind boggling. Tuskgutter had to have weighed two-thousand pounds. It's head is perfectly clean and repaired, a fearsome sight even in death.
After the meat work is done Garick and Ox make several wooden sleds to carry it behind the horses. It's the only way the group will be able to transport it all back to Oleg's.
The clearing makes for a rather good campsite. The ground has been pounded flat by Tuskgutter's presence.
Ox |
Ox finds a particularly quality large cut of meat for Ember. no need to settle for the scraps on this beast. there is more than enough I dare say. Ox states as he draws his long sword. Perhaps we can make shorter work a larger blade. feeling a bit ruthless ox will work with his sword as his brother directs him attempting to use his strength and leverage in harmony to get the beast into manageable chunks of meat.
I wonder what predators we might attract with all this meat? do you think we could store the meat in its layer without anything else bothering it,I am sure not much locally will be willing to go in anytime soon yet. we could continue forward with out dragging this lot around if you think it is plausible. Ox addresses everyone, but it seems obvious that he defers greatly to his brother on the matter.
Garick Nowicki |
Garick looks at his brother as if he was hit in the head with a rock If we leave this meat here it will be in critters bellies as fast as it should be in our own. Garick smiles This perhaps is a hunt of a lifetime! We should be rejoicing all the way back to Oleg's, and have the best feast know in all the Greenbelt. Isn't that right Ember Garick carefully removes the enormous heart from the beast's chest takes a big bite off it smiles a bloody grin and hands it to Ember That my friend is the best heart you may ever taste Ember. Garick laughs like a kid in a candy shop.
Ox |
I dunno, I am just saying it stunk like the boar was still in there and I don't think anything with any kind of survival instinct will be going in there even for meat for some time yet. but if you are sure then, I believe ya.I suppose at least we won't be messing with that bridge again.
He stares at his brother shaking his head, returning the look that he just received as his brother bites out of the heart. Bleh! eating right out of the beast now are you? I think perhaps you may have spent to much time in the wood. HA! he claps his brother on the shoulder and gets back to work.
Lukasz |
Lukasz also bletches slightly at seeing Garick bite into the beast's heart before turning to the task of securing the few non-perishables the group had found. Though what he had seen here in the Greenbelt had already started to toughen up the young nobleman, he was not prepared for these "hunting traditions" the Garick spoke of.
Ox |
Ox's eyes light up when he thinks about the old fella. I just had a great Idea. did he use a cane or a crutch? I'm thinking ole tuskgutter has big enough bones to make one of whatever he needs. and the big ole boy has legs enough to pay him back. Ox digs into one of the huge legs, hopping that he can get the hoof to stay on the end. if nothing else it'll give him something to do for awhile in camp.
And if he screws the thing up, well, he'll still have the head to take home.
crutches, it was crutches. He nods to him self and starts working on the other leg.[/b]this'll show any naysayers that ole vekkle spoke true.

Much merriment is had around the campfire. The delicious smells of fresh pork and bacon drift into the night air. Finally the party settles in for the night with the usual watch. Random night watch order is (1)Corso, (2)Ox, (3)Garick, and (4)Kalsgrim for two hour shifts each as the casters need a full night sleep. 1d4 ⇒ 2
So far the night has been quiet. Corso has been standing at the edge of the firelight for two hours when he wakes Ox for his turn. It is nearly at the end of Ox's bleary shift when the hairs on the back of his neck begin to tingle like he's being watched. Perception Check 1d20 ⇒ 12 The darkness beyond the campfire is still as death. Suddenly a soft padding sound comes from his left and right. Before Ox can react two wolves leap from the darkness, their jaws open in snarling grins.

Damage; 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (Ox 5 HP)
Trip attempt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 (Ox 5 HP, Prone -4 AC)
The first wolf tears at Ox's thigh, a savage bite. With a canny twist and shifting of it's weight Ox is thrown to the ground.
Flanking Charging Bite; 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage; 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (Ox -2 HP, Unconscious)
The second wolf dashes in and tears at Ox's throat as he barely touches the ground. The attack is too much and he fades into unconsciousness.

Uh...welcome back Ox? Anything in the dark gray area has 20% concealment from the starry night. Anyone who usually wears medium or heavy armor does not have it on, except Ox as he was on duty. I also assume nobody sleeps with their weapons strapped to their hands, so make sure and draw those bad boys!
Actions for Round 1, please. Lukasz and Ember will be able to act during Round 2.
~Noir~ |
I thought the black bull fit more than the white unicorn or Pegasus that I found other wise.
Noir rares his head back and dashes into camp, waking up and bringing hoofed vengeance to those that would cross his benevolent master. The beast is one of breeding and loyalty, fierce anbd protective companionship is rare in horses, but raising the lummox of a horse from a foal has caused the stallion to be more than loyal.
Noir leans down in an attempt to take a chunk out of the fierce green eyed wolf.

IF you are ok with this action then Noir to W2 and bite. if not I will mod let me know.
Servayn Krolz |
round 1
Servayn starts awake, just barely, reacting almost on instinct, as he's still not sure if it's a dream or real as the words tumble from his lips, Aquila Celestianis!
The beast that appears from the shadows above the northernmost wolf W1 is a lean, featherless creature, gangly and with alabaster-flesh, like a sculpture of an eagle come to life, instead of a living creature. It's solid wings flap with a strange muffled thump as it slashes and tears at the wolf with dull gray talons and beak.

As otherworldly raptor strikes, Servayn rolls to his feet and sways slightly, his balance unsteady as all the blood leaves his head and his heart pounds a feverish jig.
Seeing Ember's paws twitching, apparently dreaming of chasing something, he shouts at the swollen-bellied Eidolon, Up you glutton! Fight!
Too late he sees his longspear and crossbow on the ground, and snarls to himself at forgetting to grab a weapon while rising. In the dream, he had a scimitar, and was in a tavern, but nothing but a blanket hands from his hand now, and the dancing girls are nowhere in sight...

My first Cleric using PF rules channeled for 1 pt three times in a row, and didn't get above a 3 until 2nd level. I RP'd the the Cleric apologizing and blaming himself, because he didn't want the other PCs to think that Nethys was to blame for the sucky healing...

Boar's Clearing, night (map)
(22) Servayn starts awake, just barely, reacting almost on instinct, as he's still not sure if it's a dream or real as the words tumble from his lips, "Aquila Celestianis!"

Noir leans down in an attempt to take a chunk out of the fierce green eyed wolf. The dog leaps quickly out of the way, growling.
(19) Lukasz mumbles in his sleep as he rolls a little closer to the fire for warmth.
(18) Janku jumps to his feet seeing his companion down, floods the area with healing warmth. The ring of battle echos in the ears of his compatriots and fades away.
(14) Startled by the sound, Corso is amazed at the speed of the wolves' attack. It could have been me. Trying his best to get back the momentum, he grabs his rapier and gets up.
(8) The now bleeding wolf snaps at the strange otherworldly bird and then dashes to the other side of Ox.
Bite;1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Hit!
Damage; 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 (Eagle 1 HP)
Trip attempt; 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 (Eagle 1 HP, prone)
After tearing at an alabaster wing and flipping the bird to the ground the wolf darts away.
The bird tries to bite the dog during an opening, but being on it's side in the dirt proves that to be a difficult task.
AoO Bite; 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 Miss.
The second wolf grabs Ox by his tabard and starts to drag him into the dark beyond the firelight. When it moves away Noir tries to bite it again, this time tearing away a chunk of fur and flesh.
AoO Bite;1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Hit!
Damage; 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
(7) Garick jumps up and runs to his brother. "Bastard wolves!" he draws his weapon and brandishes it over his brother. The wounded wolf attacks the ranger as he passes close by.
AoO Bite;1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Hit!
Damage; 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (Garick 5 HP)

(7) Kal will stand and ready his longsword. He calls out, "Can anyone see in the darkness? Can anyone tell how many are out there past the firelight?"

Ember moves to immediately west of W1 and makes a single attack. This assumes that he doesn't have to use a move action to get to his feet, which is unclear to me, because I have no idea of quadrupeds have a mechanical advantage there. If he cannot, then he takes a 5 ft. step into the square Servayn was occupying after getting up.

Ember surges forward attacking the wolf, growling in response to Kalsgrim's query, "Two wolfs I see!" His attack tears the dog to the ground and it whimpers submissively.
