Gaius Cornelius |
Gaius raises his fist so as to get attention from the rest.
-Brothers! The Planetary Defence Forces are under heavy pressure, but the attention of the rebels is divided. Now is the moment to strike! Let us show them how the Glory of the Emperor rains on the enemies of humanity! For Guilliman, and for the Emperor!
With that (and tell me if I need any check), Gaius holds his Bolter firmly and lets it spit death unto the rebel scum, to lead by example.

Einar quickly reloads his weapons, stowing his sniper rifle he then checks the transponder location against his cartograph.
"Time we caught the others, brother, then switching to the squad vox.
"Moving in on your position"
Gaius Cornelius |
-Well done, Brothers. Good job. Now let us see what info the local forces can offer us.
With that, Gaius tries to locate the position of the Loyalist's HQ through their transponder, and heads on that way.
<Avalos, this is Deathwatch. Coming to your position double time.>
Now the Squad Leader should run the accounting of Cohesion, I guess.
Radavel |
On to the Next Scene
You follow the Astartes Transponder and moments later you come face to face with a captain of the loyalist PDF.
"I am Captain Ascote, please follow me."
Captain Ascote leads you back into the chapel, still dominated by the wreckage of your drop pod. Once inside and out of sight of the men still holding the walls, a ripple seems to run down the captain’s body and his form distorts and shimmers taking on a new shape. Before you stands a lithe female, clearly a member of the Callidus Assassin Temple—shape shifting killers and favoured tools of the Inquisition. Inclining her head to you she greets your Kill-team:
"My lords, blessed be the Emperor you are not too late, it seems my mistress’s faith in the Deathwatch was well placed. Would that she were here to greet you herself, but I fear the xenos have her somewhere in the city, and for several days I have worn the guise of the PDF commander simply to hold these men together so that there might be a place for you to land. My name is Syndalla, at least that is what Kalistradi called me, other than this I will not waste words with pleasantries or formalities, for this city is about to fall. The Genestealers have infected much of the population and those that remain are badly demoralized and exist only within a few isolated parts of the city like this one. Added to this, I expect the vanguard of the Tyranid fleet to arrive within a matter of days. Our only hope is to send a message through the world’s astropath before the shadow falls using your Chapter cyphers and request reinforcements. This on its own, however, is not enough. Even with aid on the way, I think Lordsholm will fall before dawn. The only way to stop this is to find the Broodlord which spawned this infestation and kill it. I will give you what help I can but I also need to keep the PDF from completely collapsing. I have prepared some details to aid you in your task and will offer what knowledge I have."
She outlines the Mission Objective I have earlier posted in the Discussion Thread.
"Any questions?"
Einar Stormson |
"I have here a Cartograph with the planet's maps uploaded, can you identify last known locations for the Astropath, any isolated loyalists and any sightings or suspected locations of the Broodlord?"
Radavel |
"The astropath is in the House of Echoes, in the Magistria District near the Thorsholt Manor," says Syndalla, outlining in the Cartograph the most direct route.
"Sadly, the Inquisitor disappeared before we could find the Broodlord. I, however, suspect that the Broodlord's lair is probably in one of the districts firmly under the control of the rebels."
Gaius Cornelius |
-Alright- says Gaius, trying to maintain the calm. -The situation might seem dire, but we surely have our chances. My thoughts are that we should use the remaining PDF forces to try to liberate Lordsholm.-
Gaius takes a short pause to decide the course of action.
-We need to send the troops to recapture easy targets, that will raise their morale. Meanwhile, we should head on to send that message through the Astropath - the sooner we call for help, the sooner we'll get it. After that, we should command the troops into rescuing the city's leader, which will bolster their morale even more, and freeing the most key enclaves we can before help or the invading fleet arrives. That way we'll have a place from where to resist and show them the Emperor's Wrath.
He waits one second for anyone to comment on what he has just said.
-Syndalla? Brothers? What do you all think?
Gaius Cornelius |
Gaius nods to Syndalla's words. -Okay.- Then he asks his Brother Marines. -That leaves us with calling for support, finding the local governor and searching for the Broodlord. Thoughts? I vote for calling for help first.
Gaius Cornelius |
-Ah, we may as well pay a visit, then- says Gaius. -It might be very important and useful to everyone's morale to see the governor is alive and safe, and he could give us much information.- Gaius adjusts his helmet and gets ready to go. -Let's do this, on the double! For the Emperor!
Reinald Ambroise |
Reinald has remained quiet as the interplay with the Inquisitorial assassin played out. He focused on attuning himself to the biometric readings of his companions, ensuring that everyone was functioning at optimal levels. A healthy Astartes is a successful Astartes... no need to let Chaos worm its way in...
As Gaius offers the direction, Reinald nods in agreement. "Let's get mobile then, lest we loose any time. Onward, Brothers!"
Einar Stormson |
Noting the close quarters of the urban environment, Einar draws his pistol and chainsword, thumbing the fire selector to stalker rounds.
Taking his usual position on point he heads out ahead of the pack, out of sight, but not too quietly.

Vilufs voice crackles over the box channel. "There's an old tale I heard when I was a lad, about a young wolf who leaves for his first hunt but comes home empty handed because the Rabbits have learned to climb. It is a tale meant to teach us to expect the unexpected from our enemy. But at the same time, it should also teach us to f@@+ing look up. Enemy above!"
With that he swung his Bolter up and sprayed an arc of fire up towards the genestealer.

As he brings his pistol to bear, Viluf opens up with his heavy weapon. Realising, stealth is lost, Einar flips to normal rounds and aims carefully before placing his shot.

Gaius is caught completely unaware, but thanks the Emperor his Brother Space Wolf did his job and alerted the Kill-Team. Once he is conscious of the threat, he is about to execute the Xeno-Scum, though a sharp shot from Brother Einar does the job.
-Good job, Brothers. This teamplay is going to take us a long way.
I remind all our Brother Marines that Lead by Example is still in effect and thus you get to add +5% to all rolls if you are in Squad Mode. Guilliman Airlines wishes you a safe flight. Also, if Brother Einar is not more than 30 metres away, he can benefit from a free reroll each round. In case he is further away, this benefit will go to Brother Reinald. Last but not least, I guess as per the CRB we keep the Oath chosen by the previous leader, so don't forget to add the Emperor's Powerful +10 to Hit Xeno Garbage.

The Genestealer disintegrates under the explosive fury of your bolter fire, leaving sickly green ichor as the only evidence of its passing.
Your librarian's anguished voice suddenly bursts inside your head:

Viluf grins, reaching up to scratch his cheek and frowning. "He is like a little red statue standin like that. And raining from the sky and all. Is there any more of ya out there boyo?"
He glanced at Einar and nodded slightly, happy with the fact his Brother was covering the interloper with his weapon. Viluf himself had his Heavy Bolter resting a mere twitch away from bisecting the Marine, if he so chose.

I assume you guys won't be blasting each other, so I will now proceed.
The vox comes alive with the following message:
++This is Squad Bravo Niner. We are surround and in need of support, evac. Location at grid 8-Alpha.
Repeat. This is Squad Bravo Niner. We are surround and in need of support, evac. Location at grid 8-Alpha. ++
You check the display in your helmet and the grid coordinates places the squad's location just a few blocks away from your position.
Gaius Cornelius |
<Bravo Niner, this is Kill-Team Epsilon Zeta. We are close to your position, Resist, we're coming in.>
Gaius said all this without thinking, but it is the right thing to do, in his mind. People want help, hope. They are Space Marines, the Empire's best. The Emperor's Wrath made flesh and ceramite. If they cannot bring hope, who can?
-You heard it, brothers. Let's give these xenos some of their medicine!
Reinald Ambroise |
Damned Warp cursed, lost another ally... Reinald thinks to himself before the arrival of the descendant of Sanguinus.
"Leonidas, join with us now Brother, as we bring glorious battle to the infidels assaulting this land. We will help you seek out your chapter after."
Viluf Irontooth |
Viluf stood there stunned for a moment before sighing. "In a Squad we usually let the Scout lead the way..."
Viluf patted Reinald on the shoulder, pushing him along in front of him. "I'll watch our six. You make sure the new laddie doesn't get his head blown off or summat!"
