Search for the elusive will-o-wisp

Having found Silvermane's marker, the party heads in a relative northward direction searching for a will-o'-wisp and eventually the Vault of Thorns. The going is touch as the Marsh is comprised of slow-moving streams, pools of stagnant water, and scattered hummocks of mud and waterlogged reeds. The water averages about 4' deep and is very difficult to move through (x4 movement), with deeper sections threatening to swamp smaller party members.
After the first hour of so of searching Daardra sees a massive tree with lichens grown from five large branches before realizing it is no tree. It appears to be a massive serpentine monster with five angry heads. Sensing the party entering its range it begins to push through the marsh waters to attack the party.
Party has 1 round of free action.
