There's been some changes (like the whole of Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom -- didn't exist back then -- they came in the late 80s early 90s as I recall -- and both of those parks are undergoing changes/expansions now.)
Magic Kingdom is mostly the same, though some of the rides have changed, and they've added in a Rapunzel's tower (from Tangled) and the new Fantasyland.
Epcot is probably the most disappointng, in that it's supposed to be about the future and human progress and it's not been kept up to date at all (not including the World Pavillion, which is also pretty static, but it makes a lot more sense that it would be).
Still, though, 'tis a magical place.

Ragadolf |

Ah yes, I still never made it to Animal Kingdom, (Although my wife and kids got a brief visit there once) But the general consensus was that it needed 'more' to be a full Disney park. Ergo current additions in progress. :)
Yeah, there's SOMEthing about the place. My now-16-year-old daughter still wants to go back, (She was last there at 8years old, and will not wear 'disney' clothing because she thinks it makes her look childish, even though I've proven to her that College kids still wear the stuff.) :)
Tis magical indeed.
Of course, My wife used to go there every couple of years as a kid growing up, so SHE loves the place.
And me? My first visit there was on my honeymoon. So yeah, it's got magical memories for me too. :)
(What can I say? When your a newlywed, the lines just don't seem as long!) :D

Ragadolf |

LOL!
When my kids were 'little' (IE= 4 & 7 respectively) That was their favorite ride. I got tired of that song myself. :)
You should check out the Kingdom Keepers series of books. Or at least the first one.
My Daughter loves them, and is excited for the second series coming out soon. I have read all but the very last book and have enjoyed them, although the first was still the best overall I think.
Anyway, In short (too late) you would love what happens on that ride in the first book. ;)
I have managed to go visit enough times when my kids were younger, that I think I have discovered MY secret(s) to having fun there. (Not applicable to all. I am older and much more cynical than I used to be.)
-I'm going to have fun, not 'the perfect vacation' ;P
-My kids are wonderful, but not perfect. Do not expect them to be so just because we are in Disneyworld.
-Do not stress about the money. Alot a certain amount, and when your done, your done. Enjoy the rest of the day, rides, etc.
-When the lines get too long, remember that you could be at work instead.
-When the lines get REALLY long, start entertaining your kids, other people in line, with stories of other visits to Disney World. (Hint. It starts a chain reaction, EVERYone there wants to tell a story to top yours) ;)

Our marching band played in the Disney World parade my senior year. Two friends and I were browsing in one of the shops when we noticed a fake broken arm kit. Yeah!
The other flutist and I ran back to the director's trailer, pale-faced and panting, and yelled that our principle drummer had fallen off a roller coaster and was in the infirmary. The directors dashed out, only to see said drummer straggling slowly towards the trailer, arm in a cast and sling, head hanging.
Much delightful consternation ensued.
Boy, did we get in trouble. If they hadn't been so relieved it was only a prank, it would have been a lot worse.
That's what I get for ignoring my primary rule of pranking - get somebody else to pull it off. I remain the clean-hands idea woman.

Ragadolf |

LOL! (Again!)
THAT was a good one!
Although your #1 rule of pranking is the best rule.
That way, they might get most of the credit, (if they are the loutish, credit-hogging types) BUT you'll get off scott-free when the rubbish hits the high-speed propeller! ;P
Either way, Disney World when I was in high school would have been cool.
:(

I loathe that ride. I did it my first time there, and then had to do it again when I went with my wife on our honeymoon -- she needed to experience it -- and we got stuck for an extra couple of minutes at the end.... I've never so wished to be deafened...
However, since then, we've been back a few times for (late) anniversary trips -- most recently last December -- she'd never been "at Christmas" -- and I think I'd forgetten just how amazing it really is -- the christmas parades and fireworks, the festival of lights, everything all decorated for the season -- it's totally magical (the only thing that was missing was the snow -- but they even fake that -- and, to be fair, we came home, it rained and melted all the snow we'd had before we left, so green Christmas either way...)

Ragadolf |

Heheh, memories.
We've never been at Christmas proper. But we have made Thankgiving once or twice. (Used to no one went there for Thanksgiving, it was an almost empty park, NOW it's just as busy as all of the other dates)
But on Thanksgiving they turn on the Christmas lights, and my wife loves that stuff. :)

Ragadolf |

Lol! Yeah, let's say THAT might have been part of it, shall we? :)
My mother keeps whining that she wants to retire somewhere warm. Says she'd be perfectly happy laying on the beach and wading in the ocean at Holiday time, the heck with snow and such on Christmas!
Of course, the Irony is that I and my family live in South Louisiana, and we visit HER in Oklahoma for the holidays, and my kids constantly hope for Snow when we are driving/visiting there. Because otherwise they never get to see it! :)

Tilnar |

My first time there was over Christmas -- girlfriend's parents had a timeshare in Kissime. Wasn't my only green Christmas, but certainly the only one where it was sunny, green, warm (and humid!).
I will say, though, that palm trees and warm don't quite connect with Christmas in my head, but then, I'm Canadian. Though having family there did help (even if it wasn't my family).

Ragadolf |

Yes, I understand.
I lived in FLorida for one year during the post-Katrina-multiple moves debacle.
(We got to visit DW once every couple of months or so, usually for their holiday specials. THAT was nice)
And I must say that having sunny, warm, green and humid during Thanksgiving and Christmas did NOT feel right at all. Even here in Lousy-anna the weather has the decency to at least pretend it's getting cooler for the holidays.
(It's only pretending, I still have to mow my yard all year, even Dec/Jan, but at least it's cooler.)
Just for the record, here in Lousy-anna we only have 2 seasons.
Hotter than H@ll, and not-quite-so-d@#ned hot.

Dang it, I really need to talk to DSX and chat is down! Fortunately, "Olachat" for the campaign is working if you are here, DSX.
OK, I've been reviewing the thread. Sal rolled two 1's on defense against the Poppy Queen, but would have had +2 on each from Kenneth's potion, so she got 3's on both her mental defenses.
We gave her a minor mental consquence after the first failure, but nothing happened after the second. What kind of shape is she in? I didn't see any numbers on the PQ's offense to compare to Sal's defense.
Also, if she still failed the first defense with a +3, I would beg to be allowed to spend a Fate point for a +2 on the second defense, to bring it to +5. Having been overwhelmed once, she would be more on her guard and be prepared to resist.
P.S. - I'm doing much better now, mentally. I'm trying to get caught up and do better on postings. Sorry about being out of it for so long.
Did you know Myth-Weaver has redone all their character sheets? None of mine carried over to the new format. I have updated Sal in the new one, complete with changing the Phase 3 story to what we agreed upon, DSX, and starting Phase 6 with current events.

Am I missing something? Isn't the amount of stress you inflict equal to (non-resisted attack roll) + (weapon damage) ?
So, 10 shifts against a surprised opponent (no dodging) is, pretty much, devastating.. (Though they probably have supernatural toughness or something to soak damage)

Treppa |

Or, at least, really, really, slowed it down. I'm wondering if it'll take a severe to avoid a lot of overstress -- though that's still pretty rough.
In that case, I hope Sal can get another shot in, though LL might take advantage of the situation and polish her off.
Sal will be miffed if that happens.

Treppa |

Why does Danny's post remind me of this?
Sorry Tilnar, kinda jammed Kenneth & Molly up with that shot. :(

LOL! I do not remember that one! Love it!
Yeah, Danny might have more in common with Elan than he wants to admit,...

Wow. Time DOES fly! :)
Yeah, every once in a while I go back through old PbP threads looking for something, get involved in re-reading the story I had forgotten about, and end up (much) later having a enjoyed a great read, but completely forgetting why I was reading in the first place! ;P
The sign of a great PbP I tell you! :D

Soooo.... what are the new guys thinking of building? Any guest starring roles up for auction?
FYI: I have plans to morph Sal from a Pure Human into a True Believer, Mano de Dios. I don't think she'll be particularly good at it because it'll involve some refresh points and low-level skill swapping, but she'll improve. Vatican Assassin... now where have I heard that before? *rubs bar code*

I can't believe you inflicted that on your new bride. Now that's confidence in a relationship!

LOL,
I'm telling ya, when your on that or any similar ride as a honeymooner, You just don't remember the ride. :)
(Or maybe that was just me?) :)

Tilnar |

She said she had to experience it. I'd say I was more tortured than she, I knew what it was but went on it with her anyway.
;)
In terms of the character shifts, that sounds like it would be pretty cool -- I can totally see it with her character, especially given the challenges that she's been facing.
Me, I just had a goddess tell me I had the soul of a warrior-poet...and take a whole whackload of my refresh

Treppa |

Yeah, it's gonna be rough having 1 or 2 FP remaining, but that'll give DSX a lot more opportunity to be cruel and conniving. Temptation, anyone? :)
Still and all, running a Pure Mortal brought me along gently in the unfamiliar system and let me build Sal's very human character and get to know her. I was telling DSX the other day that Sal is just about as opposite to the real me as you can get, but I adore her and love running her. I also adore the way the Fate system lets you statistically morph a character as they grow and change personality. Very cool. Can't wait to see what pinvendor and Mahorf do with it once they sinks their fangs into the system.
